8. Shāmīs
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Nothing from arrogance enters Paradise." Someone then asked, "O Messenger of Allah, I love to beautify my whip and adorn my sandals. Is that considered arrogance?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "That is not arrogance. Indeed, Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. Arrogance is to reject the truth and look down upon people."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying that nothing of arrogance shall enter Paradise. A person then said, "O Prophet of Allah, I wish to adorn myself with two whips and two pairs of footwear." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, that is not arrogance. Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. Arrogance is rejecting the truth and looking down upon people." He meant by "two whips" walking with arrogance and by "two pairs of footwear" wearing them with pride.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited shaving (the head) bald, tattooing, plucking the eyebrows, lengthening the teeth, filing the teeth, and marrying a woman who is already married.
"A friend of mine who was called Abu 'Amir, from Al-Ma'afir, and I went out to pray in Jerusalem. Their preacher was a man from (the tribe of) Azd who was called Abu Raihanah, one of the Companions." Abu Al-Husain said: "My companion reached the Masjid before I did, then I caught up with him, and sat beside him. He said: 'Have you heard the preaching of Abu Raihanah?' I said: 'No.' He said: 'I heard him say: 'The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade ten things: Filing (the teeth), tattoos, plucking (hair), for two men to lie under one cover with no barrier between them, for two women to lie under one cover with no barrier between them, for a man to add more than four fingers' width of silk to the bottom of his garment like the foreigners (Persians), (and he forbade) plundering, riding (while sitting on) leopard skins and wearing rings- except for rulers." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5091)
[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that he disliked ten things: spreading evil, shaving the hairline, tattooing, lashings between a man and a man, and between a woman and a woman without any garment between them, loincloth below the waist, riding on the backs of tigers, taking the catch of birds on the shoulders, making a knot in clothes or ropes at the top or bottom, and wearing a ring without authority.
[Machine] On the authority of Abu Rayhanah, companion of the Prophet ﷺ, it is reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade wearing a ring except for the one with authority.
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever associates himself with nine disbelieving fathers, desiring honor and prestige with them, then he is among them in the Hellfire.'"
[Machine] And another person said, meaning other than Zaid, Abu Ali Al-Janaby said, "I heard Abu Raihanah saying, 'We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a battle, and one night we reached a well and decided to stay there. We were struck by intense cold until I saw someone digging a pit in the ground, entering it and covering himself with a shield. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw that, he called out to the people, 'Who will guard us tonight, and I will make a supplication for him that will include a great favor?' A man from the Ansar (Helpers) said, 'I will, O Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him closer and said, 'Who are you?' He replied, 'I am the Ansari.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a supplication for him, and it was longer than the one he made for the Ansari. Abu Raihanah said, 'When I heard the supplication that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made, I said to myself, 'I am another man.' So he called me closer and said, 'Who are you?' I replied, 'I am Abu Raihanah.' So he made a supplication for me, which was different from the one he made for the Ansari.' Then he said, 'Hellfire is forbidden for an eye that shed tears or stayed awake in the way of Allah. And Hellfire is forbidden for another eye, a third that Muhammad bin Samir did not hear.'"

[Machine] "He informed him that he and his companion learn from Abu Rihana what is good. He said, one day, my friend attended and I did not attend, so my friend informed me that he heard Abu Rihana saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited ten things: tattooing, branding, plucking facial hair, shaving pubic hair, male-male sexual intercourse without wearing anything between them, female-female sexual intercourse without wearing anything between them, tracing silk lines on the bottom part of the garment, tracing silk lines on the neck, and wearing the skin of a tiger as clothing, wearing gold rings, except for someone with authority.
