8. Shāmīs (23/26)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Abdus-Samad in his Hadith says: 'Verily, during the night there is an hour when the gates of the heavens are opened, and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, asks: 'Is there anyone seeking forgiveness, so that I may forgive him? Is there anyone seeking sustenance, so that I may grant him sustenance? Is there anyone afflicted, so that I may relieve him?'" They said: "All of this occurs every night, O Messenger of Allah." He further said: "Dawud once went out during the night and said: 'No one asks Allah for anything except that He gives it to him, except for a magician or an adulterer.' Thereupon, some dogs approached him while he was mounted on his she-camel, and he descended upon 'Abdur Rahman bin 'Amir and said: 'What has brought you out, O 'Abdur Rahman?' He said: 'What ails you?' He said: 'I have been informed of something, so sit with me.' 'Abdur Rahman said: 'I am busy with my work.' He said: 'What is your work?' He said: 'Uthman informed us of this and that.'"
[Machine] "A delegation from Thaqif came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he welcomed them in the mosque to make them feel comfortable in their hearts. They stipulated to the Prophet ﷺ that they should not be gathered together, forced, or appointed against their will, nor should anyone other than themselves be employed over them. He said, 'Indeed, you are not to be gathered together, forced, or appointed against your will, and no one other than yourselves should be employed over you.' The Prophet ﷺ then said, 'There is no good in a religion in which there is no bowing (in prayer).' Uthman ibn Abi al-'As said, 'O Messenger of Allah, teach me the Quran and make me the Imam of my people.'"
[Machine] The last thing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said before he departed was, "When you pray with a group of people, lighten your recitation for them until you reach the point where I allowed me to recite the name of your Lord who created."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Every night, a caller proclaims, 'Is there anyone who needs something? I will give it to him. Is there anyone seeking forgiveness? I will forgive him. Is there anyone making a supplication? I will answer him.'"
[Machine] "The last thing that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me when he employed me for the expedition of Ta'if was: 'Lighten the prayer for the people until it is time for me to recite the name of your Lord, the one who created and resembled it with the Qur'an.'"
[Machine] He heard Uthman ibn Abi Al-Aas saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ assigned me to the Ta'if, and it was the last thing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entrusted to me. He said, 'Make the prayer lighter for the people.'"
[Machine] I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a man approached and rubbed his eye, then he pointed it towards the ground until it almost stuck to it. Then the man rubbed his eye again and said, "Jibril came to me and commanded me to place this verse in this place of this Surah, 'Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.'" [An-Nahl 90]
8.143 [Machine] Ziyad bin Libaid
“The Prophet ﷺ mentioned something and said: ‘That will be at the time when knowledge (of Qur’an) disappears.’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, how will knowledge disappear when we read the Qur’an and teach it to our children, until the Day of Resurrection?’ He said: ‘May your mother be bereft of you, Ziyad! I thought that you were the wisest man in Al- Madinah. Is it not the case that these Jews and Christians read the Tawrah and the Injil, but they do not act upon anything of what is in them?’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4048)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This is the time when knowledge will disappear." Shu'bah (narrator) said, or he said, "This is the time when knowledge will be cut off." So I said, "Then how will we teach the Book of Allah to our children, and how will our children teach it to their children?" He said, "May your mother lose you! Ibn Labid was not mistaken about you. Did I not think that you were one of the most understanding of the people of Madinah? Are not the Jews and Christians among them people who have the book of Allah, the Most High? "Shu'bah (narrator) said, or he said, "Are not the Jews and Christians among them people who have the Torah and the Injil, and yet they do not benefit from it at all?" He said, or he said, "Are not the Jews and Christians, or the people of the book, among them?"

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a brotherhood between two men, one of whom was killed (in Allah's path), and a week or thereabouts later the other died, and we prayed at his funeral). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked: What did you say? We replied: We prayed for him and said: O Allah, forgive him, and join him to his companion. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What about his prayers since the time the other died, and his fasting since the time the other died--the narrator Shu'bah doubted the words, "his fasting--and his deeds since the time the other died. The distance between them is just like the distance between heaven and earth. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2524)

[Machine] Narrated by Ubaid bin Khalid, who was one of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , he said: The Prophet ﷺ brought two men together and mentioned the hadith.

[Machine] Narrated by 'Ubaid ibn Khalid al-Sulami, who was one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Sudden death is the result of sadness." He mentioned this once from the Prophet ﷺ .
[Machine] From Ubaid ibn Khalid al-Sulami, who was one of the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , it is narrated regarding sudden death, "It is a seizure of sorrow."

prayer after the Fajr until the sun has risen, and prayer after ‘Asr until the sun has set. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1248)
'Are you not going to pray?' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is no prayer after 'Asr until the sun has set, nor after Subh until the sun has risen.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 518)

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , a man came to him carrying a fog that he had captured. He started looking at a lizard from it and then said, "Indeed, a nation has been transformed, and I do not know if this is one of them."
"A man brought a mastigure to the Messenger of Allah and he started looking at it, and turning it over. He said: 'A nation was transformed, it is not known what they did, and I do not know if this is one of them." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4321)
[Machine] A man from the Banu Fazara came to the Prophet ﷺ with a gazelle. He then began to turn it around in front of him and said, "Indeed, a nation has been deformed." He continued, "And most of my knowledge is that he said, 'I don't know, perhaps this is from it.'" Shu'bah said, "Husayn reported from Zayd ibn Wahb from Hudhayfah that he mentioned something similar to this." The Prophet did not order for it nor did he forbid it from anyone.
[Machine] "We encountered fog while we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in some of his battles. The people started to cook and roast some animals. I took a lizard and roasted it, then I brought it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and placed it in front of him. He took a stick and began flipping its fingers with it, or he counted its fingers. Then he said, 'Indeed, a nation from the Children of Israel was transformed into animals on Earth, and I don't know which animals they were.' I said, 'Indeed, the people have cooked and roasted them.' He did not eat from it and did not forbid them from it."
[Machine] He said, "Someone brought a hyena to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he said, 'This is a nation that has been transformed.' By Allah, He knows the best." A man named Affan said, "Allah knows best."
8.147 [Machine] Na'im bin Al-Nahham
[Machine] I heard the Prophet’s muadhin (caller to prayer) on a cold night while I was under my blanket, and I wished for him to say "Pray in your homes". When he reached the part of the adhan that says "Hayya ‘ala al-falah" (come to success), he instead said "Pray in your homes". Then I asked about it, and it turns out that the Prophet ﷺ had commanded him to say that.

[Machine] "I was called in the morning on a cold day while I was being massaged by my wife. I said, 'I wish the caller would say: Whoever is resting, there is no harm upon him.' Then the caller called the Prophet's ﷺ call to prayer in its final call, and there was no objection for those who were sitting."

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever is offered a good deed from his brother, without asking for it or seeking it himself, let him accept it and not reject it, for it is only a provision that Allah has brought to him."

[Machine] I heard Al-Harith ibn Ziyad, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever loves the Ansar, Allah will love him when He meets him, and whoever hates the Ansar, Allah will hate him when He meets him."

[Machine] We carried the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on camels from the camels of charity for Hajj. So we said, "O Messenger of Allah, shouldn't we ride these camels?" He said, "Every camel has a devil on its back, so mention the name of Allah when you ride it, as He has commanded you. Then take care of it for yourselves, for Allah only carries what He wishes."

[Machine] We carried the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on camels from the camels of charity, weak ones, to go to Hajj. We said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, these camels are weak, we fear that they will not carry us." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Every camel has a devil in its hump, so ride them and mention the name of Allah over them as you have been commanded. Then take care of them for yourselves, for Allah alone carries."
8.152 [Machine] Yazeed Abi Al-Saib bin Yazeed
[Machine] He heard the Prophet ﷺ saying: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'None of you should take his companion's belongings seriously or playfully, and if any of you finds his companion's stick, then he should return it to him.'"
[Machine] He heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "One of you should not take the belongings of his companion as a serious play. And if any one of you takes the stick of his brother, then he should return it to him."
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ who said, "None of you should take his brother's belongings in a serious manner. And if any one of you takes his brother's stick, then he should return it to him."
[Machine] It was narrated that when the Prophet ﷺ used to make supplication, he would raise his hands and pass them over his face with his hands. Abdullah said that they differed from Qutaibah in the chain of narration of this hadith, and I think that Qutaibah and those with him were referring to Khalad ibn Al-Sa'ib, who narrated from his father.
8.153 [Machine] Translation: Abdullah bin Abi Habibah
[Machine] To his grandfather from his mother, Abdullah bin Abi Habibah, "What did you receive from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" He said, "He came to our mosque, so I came and sat next to him. A drink was brought, and he drank from it, then he passed it to me while I was on his right side. I saw him that day praying while wearing his sandals, and I was a young boy at that time."

8.154 [Machine] Al-Shareed bin Suwaid Al Thaqafi
[Machine] A believer woman approached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, asking him about it. He responded, "I have a servant girl who is black or from Nubia, should I free her?" He said, "Bring her to me." So, I called her and she came. He asked her, "Who is your lord?" She replied, "Allah." He asked her, "Who am I?" She said, "You are the Messenger of Allah." He then said, "Free her, for she is a believer."
“If one who can afford it delays repayment, his honor and punishment become permissible.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2427)
8.155 [Machine] Neighbor of Khadijah bint Khuwaylid
[Machine] "He heard the Prophet ﷺ saying to Khadijah, 'O Khadijah, by Allah, I do not worship Lat and by Allah, I do not worship Al-Uzza ever.' Khadijah then said, 'Leave Lat, leave Al-Uzza.' He (the Prophet) said, 'They were their idols which they used to worship and then sleep around them.'"
8.156 [Machine] Ya'la bin Umayyah
[Machine] He informed him that Ya'la used to say to Umar ibn al-Khattab, "I wish I could see the Prophet when the revelation comes upon him." So, when he was in Ji'ranah and the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , was wearing a garment that he had covered with, along with some of his companions, including Umar, a man came to him wearing a jubbah stained with perfume. So he said, "O Messenger of Allah, how do you see a man who has performed 'Umrah in a jubbah after staining it with perfume?" So the Prophet, ﷺ , looked at him for a while, then remained silent. Then the revelation came to him, and Umar pointed to Ya'la to come. So Ya'la came and put his head in, and there was the Prophet, ﷺ , with a red face covering it for a while, then he disappeared. So he said, "Where is the one who asked me about 'Umrah earlier?" So the man was sought and brought to him. So the Prophet, ﷺ , said, "As for the perfume on you, wash it three times, and as for the jubbah, take it off and do in 'Umrah as you do in Hajj."
[Machine] A man bit the hand of his opponent during a fight, causing the opponent to remove his hand from his grip. The opponent then sought the Prophet ﷺ , who reprimanded him and said, "Let him leave his hand in your hand, so that it may be bitten like a stallion bites."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "When my messengers come to you, give them or give them back thirty shields and thirty camels, or less than that." Al-ʿAriyyah asked him, "O Messenger of Allah, should I give it back?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Yes."
I circumambulated (the Ka’bah] with ʿUmar bin al-Khattab ؓ and he touched the corner, Yaʿla said: I was next to the House and when I reached the western corner which is next to the Black Stone, I took his hand to touch it and he said: What is the matter with you? I said. Arenʿt you going to touch it? He said: Did you not do tawaf with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? I said: Yes indeed. He said: Did you see him touch these two western corners? I said: No. He said: Donʿt you have a good example in him? I said: Yes indeed. He said: Then stop bothering about that. (Using translation from Aḥmad 313)

"We went out with the Messenger of Allah on the campaign of Tabuk, and there was a friend of ours with us, who fought with a man from among the Muslims. The man bit him on the forearm, so he pulled it away from his mouth and a tooth fell out. The man came to the Prophet, seeking blood money, but his brother and bite him like a stallion bites, then come and demand blood money? There is no blood money for that." And the Messenger of Allah juddgedit to be invalid. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4765)

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to send me on errands, and one day he sent me on a mission. There was a man riding a mule, so I said to him, "Let me ride with you, for the Prophet ﷺ has sent me on a mission." He replied, "I cannot take you with me unless you give me three dinars." I said, "But I have already bid farewell to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I will not go back to him. I will give you three dinars and you can take me." When I returned from my expedition, I mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ. He said, "He has gained nothing from his earnings in this life or the hereafter except three dinars."

He said, "Yes, indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'The sun rises between the horns of Satan.'" He said to him, "Yes, indeed, so if it rises while you are in the command of Allah, it is better for it to rise while you are not distracted."
