قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {إِذْ يُغَشِّيكُمُ النُّعَاسَ أَمَنَةً} [الأنفال: 11]

nasai-kubra:11014Muḥammad b. al-Muthanná > Khālid > Ḥumayd > Anas

[Machine] Abu Talhah said, "I was one of those who were overcome by drowsiness on the day of Uhud until the sword fell from my hand three times."

[Machine] The last words of Prophet Ibrahim ﷺ when he was thrown into the fire were "Allah alone is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs." And your Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said the same words to his people when they said to him, "Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them." But that merely increased them in faith and they said, "Allah alone is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs." [Surah Al-Imran 3:173]

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "How can I be at ease when the Angel of the Trumpet has placed his lips upon the Trumpet, waiting for the command to blow it?" They said, "What should we say, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Say: 'Allah is sufficient for us and the best of guardians.''' [Al-Imran 173] We rely upon Allah alone.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {فَانْقَلَبُوا بِنِعْمَةٍ مِنَ اللهِ وَفَضْلٍ} [آل عمران: 174]

nasai-kubra:11017Muḥammad b. Manṣūr > Sufyān > ʿAmr > ʿIkrimah > Ibn ʿAbbās Lammā Ānṣaraf al-Mushrikūn

[Machine] About Uhud, when they reached Rawha, they said, "No, Muhammad has been killed, and the enemy has avenged their dead, and you have done nothing good." They returned, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ received the news. He summoned the people and they responded until they reached Hamra' al-Asad. They passed by the well of Abu 'Inabah. Allah Almighty revealed, "Those [believers] who responded to Allah and the Messenger after injury had struck them" [Quran 3:172]. Abu Sufyan had said to the Prophet ﷺ , "We will meet you at the time of Badr, where you had killed our companions." Some of the weak ones returned, but the brave ones took their weapons and merchandise for trade. They did not find anyone willing to do business with them. So Allah Almighty revealed, "So they returned with favor from Allah and bounty, no harm having touched them" [Quran 3:174].

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "There is no man who has wealth and does not give the rights of his wealth except that a collar will be placed on his neck on the Day of Judgment, where he will be a bold, barking dog fleeing from it while it follows him." Then he recited a verse from the Book of Allah, "And let not those who [greedily] withhold what Allah has given them" (Al Imran 3:180) until the end of the verse "on the Day of Resurrection." (Al Imran 3:180)

“Allah said: ‘I have prepared for My righteous worshippers, what no eye has seen, nor ear has hear, and no human heart has conceived.’ So recite if you wish: No person knows what is kept hidden for them of delights of the eyes as a reward for what they used to do. And in Paradise there is a tree under whose shade a rider can travel for one hundred years without stopping. Recite if you wish: And in shade extended. And the space occupied by a whip in Paradise is better than the world and whatever is in it. Recite if you wish: And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception.” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3292)

[Machine] Ibn Abbas asked them about something the Prophet ﷺ had asked them about, but they concealed it and informed him about something else. They left and it was shown to him that they informed him about what he asked them about and they praised themselves for it and they were happy about what they concealed from him about it.

That he spent a night with Maimunah, wife of the Prophet ﷺ, who was also his (Ibn 'Abbas's) maternal aunt. I lay towards the width of the pillow and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his wife slept towards its length. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ slept. When half the night passed, or a little before it or a little after it, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ awoke and began to rub his face (eyes) to remove the sleep. He then recited ten verses from the last part of Surah 'Al-Imran. Hen then came to a bag of water that was hanging. He performed ablution from it and performed his ablution well. He then stood up and prayed. I also got up and did as he did. I then went and stood at his side. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his right hand upon my head and took me by my ear twisting it. He then prayed two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs. The narrator al-Qa'nabi said: Six times. He observed the witr prayer, and then slept until the mu'adhdhin came. He got up and prayed two light rak'ahs and then came out and offered the dawn prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1367)

So Allah revealed, "And there are certainly among the People of the Scripture those who believe in Allah and what has been revealed to you and what was revealed to them, [being] humbly submissive before Allah." " If you fear that you will not be able to maintain equity amongst the orphan girls, then marry (those) you like from amongst the women two, three or four." She said: O, the son of my sister, the orphan girl is one who is under the patronage of her guardian and she shares with him in his property and her property and beauty fascinate him and her guardian makes up his mind to marry her without giving her due share of the wedding money and is not prepared (to pay so much amount) which anyone else is prepared to pay and so Allah has forbidden to marry these girls but in case when equity is observed as regards the wedding money and they are prepared to pay them the full amount of the wedding money and Allah commanded to marry other women besides them according to the liking of their heart. 'Urwa reported that 'A'isha said that people began to seek verdict from Messenger of Allah ﷺ after the revelation of this verse about them (orphan girls) and Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, revealed this verse:" They asked thee verdict about women; say: Allah gives verdict to you in regard to them and what is recited to you in the Book about orphan woman, whom you give not what is ordained for them while you like to marry them" (iv. 126). She said: The wording of Allah" what is recited to you" in the Book means the first verse, i. e." if you fear that you may not be able to observe equity in case of an orphan woman, marry what you like in case of woman" (iv. 3). 'A'isha said: (And as for this verse [iv. 126], i. e. and you intend" to marry one of them from amongst the orphan girls" it pertains to one who is in charge (of orphans) having small amount of wealth and less beauty and they have been forbidden that they should marry what they like of her wealth and beauty out of the orphan girls, but with equity, because of their disliking for them. Allah's Apostle ﷺ and Abi Bakr (Allah be pleased with him) visited me on foot in Banu Salama, and found me unconscious. He (the Holy Prophet) called for water and performed ablution and sprinkled out of it (the water) over me. I felt relieved. I said: Messenger of Allah, what should I do with my property? And this verse was revealed:" Allah enjoins you concerning your children: for the male is equal of the portion of two females." (Using translation from Muslim 1616b)

regarding the Divine Verse: "O you who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will, and you should not treat them with harshness that you may take back part of the (Mahr) dower you have given them." (4.19) (Before this revelation) if a man died, his relatives used to have the right to inherit his wife, and one of them could marry her if he would, or they would give her in marriage if they wished, or, if they wished, they would not give her in marriage at all, and they would be more entitled to dispose her, than her own relatives. So the above Verse was revealed in this connection. (Using translation from Bukhārī 4579)

When the Emigrants came to Medina. they inherited from the Helpers without any blood-relationship with them for the brotherhood which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ established between them. When the following verse was revealed: "To (benefit) everyone we have appointed shares and heirs to property left by parent and relatives." it abrogated the verse: "To those also, to whom your right hand was pledged, give their due portion." We went out with Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his journeys till we reached Al-Baida or Dhatul-Jaish where my necklace got broken (and lost). Messenger of Allah ﷺ stopped to search for it and the people too stopped with him. There was no water at that place and they had no water with them. So they went to Abu Bakr and said, "Don't you see what ʿAisha has done? She has made Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people stop where there is no water and they have no water with them. Abu Bakr came while Allah's Apostle was sleeping with his head on my thigh and said, "You detained Allah Apostle and the people where there is no water and they have no water." He then admonished me and said what Allah wished and pinched me at my flanks with his hands, but I did not move because the head of Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on my thigh . Messenger of Allah ﷺ kept on sleeping till be got up in the morning and found no water. Then Allah revealed the Divine Verse of Tayammum, and the people performed Tayammum. Usaid bin AlHudair said. "O family of Abu Bakr! This is not the first blessings of yours." We urged the camel on which I was sitting to get up from its place and the necklace was found under it. An army unit was being recruited from the people of Medina and my name was written among them. Then I met ʿIkrima, and when I informed him about it, he discouraged me very strongly and said, "Ibn ʿAbbas told me that there were some Muslims who were with the pagans to increase their number against Messenger of Allah ﷺ (and the Muslim army) so arrows (from the Muslim army) would hit one of them and kill him or a Muslim would strike him (with his sword) and kill him. So Allah revealed:-- 'Verily! As for those whom the angels take (in death) while they are wronging themselves (by staying among the disbelievers).' (4.97) (Using translation from Bukhārī 7085)

[Machine] When the verse "It is not according to your desires, nor according to the desires of the People of the Scripture. Whoever does evil, will have the recompense thereof" [Quran 4:123] was revealed, it caused distress for the Muslims. They went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him about it.
