8. Shāmīs (16/26)
[Machine] "Hasan and Hussain came running to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so he embraced them and said, 'Indeed, these children are generous and brave, and it is the Most Merciful who will crush the last trace of arrogance under His feet.'"
from the Prophet ﷺ that a woman came to him with her child who was afflicted with having fits ˹of epilepsy˺. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Get out O enemy of Allah. I am the Messenger of Allah." ˹The narrator˺ said that ˹the Prophet moved away.˺ She gifted him two rams, something from aqiṭ (made from curds or cheese) and butter. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Yaʿlá, take the aqiṭ and the butter and one of the rams." and he returned the other to her.
[Machine] I was with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey, and we stopped at a place. He told me, "Go to those two trees and tell them that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commands both of you to gather together." So I went to them and said, "That is what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commands, that you both should gather." Then one of the trees leaned towards the other and they came together. The Prophet ﷺ came out and covered himself with them, and he fulfilled his need. Then each of them returned to their place.
[Machine] I saw three things from the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , while we were walking with him. We passed by a camel that was tied, and when the camel saw the Prophet, it started dragging and put its knees down. The Prophet stood on it and asked, "Where is the owner of this camel?" He came and said, "It's mine." The Prophet said, "No, rather I want to buy it from you." He replied, "No, I will give it to you." The Prophet said, "No, rather I want to take it from you as war booty. They are a family that has nothing to live on except it." The man said, "When you mentioned this from his matter, it seems that he suffers from excessive work and little feed. So be kind to him." Then we continued walking, and we reached a place where the Prophet slept. A tree came and covered him until he was hidden under it, and then it returned to its place. When he woke up, I reminded him. He said, "This is a tree that sought permission from its Lord to greet the Messenger of Allah and was granted permission." Then we continued walking and reached a water source. A woman came with her son. The Prophet held him by his collar and said, "Come out, I am Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah." Then we continued our journey and when we returned, we passed by that water. The woman came with carrots and milk, and the Prophet ordered her to return the carrots and commanded his companions to drink the milk. Then he asked her about the boy, and she said, "By the One who has sent you with the truth, we did not see any doubt or skepticism in him after you."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever finds a small amount, like a dirham, a rope, or something similar, he should announce it for three days. If no one claims it within that time, then he should announce it for six days."
[Machine] "No one among the people saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except me. He mentioned the matter of the young boy and the two palm trees, and the matter of the camel, except that he said, 'your camel is complaining, it is claimed that you have overburdened it, until when it grows old, you want to slaughter it.' I said, 'You have spoken the truth, by the One who has sent you with the truth as a Prophet. I have intended that.' By the One who has sent you with the truth, I will not do it."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Allah said: 'Do not take My servants as idols.'"
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever takes land without right, he will be commanded to carry its soil to the gathering (on the Day of Judgment)."
[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , and I was wearing nice clothes. He said to me, "O young man, what is this clothing for? Do you have a wife?" I replied, "No." He said, "Then go and wash it off you once, then wash it off you again, and then wash it off you again, and do not repeat it."
[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: "Whoever unjustly takes a palm's length of land, Allah will make him dig it until he reaches the last seven layers of the earth, and then he will be shackled until the Day of Resurrection, until the matter is settled among the people."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw me and said, "Do you have a wife?" I said, "No." He said, "Then wash yourself, and wash yourself again, and wash yourself again, and do not count."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions came to a narrow place, while he was on his ride, with the sky above them and the land below them. Then the prayer time came, so he ordered the caller to prayer to call the adhan and iqamah. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went forward on his ride and prayed with them by making gestures. He made the prostration position lower than the bowing position or made his prostration lower than his bowing.
8.80 [Machine] The threshold of Ibn Ghazwan about the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
I heard Uqba b. Ghazwan as saving: I found myself as the seventh amongst the seven who had been along with Messenger of Allah ﷺ. We had nothing to eat but the leaves of hubla (a wild tree) until the corners of our mouths were injured. (Using translation from Muslim 2967c)
'Utba b. Ghazwan delivered us a sermon and he praised Allah and lauded Him, then said: Now coming to the point, verily the world has been given the news of its end and that too quite early. Nothing would be left out of it but only water left in the utensil which its owner leaves, and you are going to shift to an abode which knows no end, and you should shift with the good before you, for we have been told that a stone would be thrown at one side of the Hell and it would go down even for seventy years but would not be able to reach its bottom. By Allah, it would be fully packed. Do you find it something strange, and it has been mentioned that there yawns a distance which one would be able to cover in forty years from one end to another of Paradise, and a day would come when it would be fully packed and you must be knowing that I was the seventh amongst seven who had been with Messenger of Allah ﷺ and we had nothing to eat but the leaves of the tree until the corners of the mouth were injured. We found a sheet which we tore in two and divided between myself and Sa'd b. Malik. I made the lower garment with halt of it and so did Sa'd make the lower garment with half of it and today there is none amongst us who has not become the governor of a city from amongst the cities (of the Islamic Commonwealth) and I seek refuge with Allah that I should consider myself great whereas I am insignificant in the eye of Allah. Prophethood does not remain for ever and its impact fades with the result that it changes eventually into kingship, and you would soon come to know and experience those rulers who would come after us and see (how far they are from religion). (Using translation from Muslim 2967a)

8.81 [Machine] Dukin bin Sa'id Al-Khath'ami about the Prophet ﷺ
[Machine] We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while we were forty men and four hundred women asking him for food. The Prophet ﷺ said to Umar, "Stand up and give them." Umar said, "O Messenger of Allah, I only have what keeps me awake and the children." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Waki' is the sustenance mentioned in the speech of the Arabs for four months." Umar stood up and we stood with him, then he took us to a room of his and took out the key from his container and opened the door. He said, "Enter." So we entered the room and found a pile of dates resembling the heap of Rabid. He said, "Take what each one of you needs." Then he turned around and I was the last to leave, as if we had not taken a date from it.
[Machine] We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as a group of forty riders and four hundred companions asking him for food. He said to Umar, "Go and give them." Umar said, "O Messenger of Allah, there is nothing left except a sack of dates, and I do not think it will be enough for us." The Messenger of Allah said, "Go and give them." Umar said, "I hear and obey." Umar took the key out of his saddlebag and opened the door. There was a basket of dates inside. He said to us, "Take what you like." So each of us took what they desired, and when it came to my turn, I was the last among the people, and it was as if not a single date was missing.

[Machine] We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while we were forty and four hundred, and he mentioned the Hadith.

8.82 [Machine] Theft of Malik bin Ja'asham's son
"I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a lost camel that comes to my cisterns that I have prepared for my own camels - will I be rewarded if I give it some water to drink? He said: Yes, in every living being there is reward.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3686)
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to deliver a speech in this valley, and said: ‘Lo! ‘Umrah has been included in Hajj until the Day of Resurrection.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2977)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Umrah is included within Hajj until the Day of Judgment." He ﷺ said this during the Farewell Hajj.
"I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a lost camel that comes to my cisterns that I have prepared for my own camels - will I be rewarded if I give it some water to drink? He said: Yes, in every living being there is reward.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3686)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: "O Suraaqah, shall I not inform you about the people of Paradise and the people of Fire?" He said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "As for the people of Fire, every violent and arrogant oppressor is among them. And as for the people of Paradise, they are the weak ones who have been oppressed."
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'O Surāqah, shall I guide you to the greatest form of charity or one of the greatest forms of charity?' He said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Your daughter, who will be returned to you, no one will earn except you.'"
[Machine] He informed him that Suwaidah bin Jua'shum entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the agony in which he passed away. He said, "I woke up and wanted to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ but I forgot what I wanted to ask him about." So, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Remember it." He said, "Among what I asked him about was that I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the stray sheep has covered my pastures and I have filled them with water for my camels. Is it a reward for me if I water it?' So, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Yes, there is a reward with every watering for a thirsty liver for the sake of Allah."
[Machine] He came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in pain, and he said, "Do you see the stray camel that comes to my watering hole, do I get rewarded if I give it water?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Yes, there is a reward even for watering a thirsty liver."
"O Messenger of Allah, do you think that this Umrah of ours is for this year only, or for all time?" The Messenger of Allah said: "It is for all time." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2806)
[Machine] He asked the Prophet ﷺ , "O Messenger of Allah, is our life for this year only or for eternity?" He replied, "For eternity."
[Machine] He informed him that he heard a thief say, "The messengers of the disbelievers from the Quraysh have come to us, making a compensation for the killing or capturing of the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr, for each one of them. While I was sitting in one of the gatherings of my people, the Banu Mudlij, a man from them approached until he stood by us, and said, 'O Suraqah, I saw a dust cloud on the coast, and I see Muhammad and his companions in it.' Suraqah said, 'So I knew that it was them, and I said, 'No, it is not them, but you saw so-and-so and so-and-so fleeing quickly.' Then I stayed in the gathering for an hour, until I stood up and entered my house. I commanded my servant-girl to bring out my horse, as it was behind a wall, and she tied it for me. I took my spear and came out of the back of the house, tracing the ground with my spear, lowering its point until I came to my horse. I mounted it and raised myself to approach them, until I saw their dust cloud, and when I approached them and the sound began to reach them, my horse stumbled underneath me. So I dismounted and turned my hands towards my quiver, taking out my arrows and swearing by them, (asking myself) 'Should I hurt them or not?' Then one of them, the one I hated that I would not harm him, came out. So I mounted my horse and wielded the arrows, raising them as I approached them, until when I heard the recitation of the Prophet ﷺ and saw that he did not turn his head, and Abu Bakr was glancing around, my horse became restless beneath me. So I pulled it back, and raised my hands towards my quiver, taking out my arrows and swearing by them (asking myself) 'Should I hurt them or not?' Then the one I hated that I would not harm him came out. So I turned my horse away and yelled out peace to them, they stood still and I mounted my horse until what I experienced in being imprisoned for them crossed my mind, that indeed the affair of the Messenger of Allah would prevail. So I said to him, 'Indeed your people have offered a compensation for you, and I informed them of the news of their journey and what the people intend to do with them, and I presented to them their provisions and belongings, but they did not care about anything I brought them and did not ask me for anything except to hide from us. So I requested that he write for me a safe-conduct letter that I would believe in.' So he ordered 'Amir bin Fuhayrah to write for me on a piece of parchment, then he left."

“We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and we spoke of Paradise and Hell until it was as if we could see them. Then I got up and went to my family and children, and I laughed and played (with them). Then I remembered how we had been, and I went out and met Abu Bakr, and said: ‘I have become a hypocrite!’ Abu Bakr said: ‘We all do that.’” So Hanzalah went and mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, who said: “O Hanzalah, if you were (always) as you are with me, the angels would shake hands with you in your beds and in your streets. O Hanzalah, there is a time for this and a time for that.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4239)
[Machine] "We accompanied the Prophet ﷺ and passed by a murdered woman who had gathered a crowd around her. He said, 'Give her some space.' Then he said to a man, 'Go to Khalid ibn al-Walid and tell him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ orders you not to kill any offspring or captives.'"
[Machine] He went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned the conversation.
