[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to fast on the days of the white (i.e., full moon). This is the fasting of the month.

ahmad:17514ʿAbd al-Ṣamad > Hammām > Anas b. Sīrīn > ʿAbd al-Malik b. Qatādah b. Milḥān al-Qaysī from his father

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to order fasting, so he ﷺ mentioned it.

[Machine] Abbas entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we go out and see the Quraysh talking, but when they see us, they remain silent." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry and a vein between his eyes pulsated. Then he said, "By Allah, the heart of a person does not have true faith until he loves you for the sake of Allah and for my kinship."

ahmad:17516Ḥusayn b. Muḥammad > Yazīd / Ibn ʿAṭāʾ > Yazīd / Ibn Abū Ziyād > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥārith b. Nawfal > ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib b. Rabīʿah b. al-Ḥārith b. ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib

"Al-'Abbas bin 'Abdul-Muttalib entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a state of anger while I was with him, so he said: 'What has angered you?' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is it with us and the Quraish, whenever they meet one another it is with glad faces, and when they meet us they meet us with other than that?'" He said: "So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry, until his face reddened, then he said: 'By the One in Whose Hand is my soul! Faith does not enter a man's heart until he loves you for the sake of Allah, and for the sake of His Messenger.' Then he said: 'O people! Whoever harms my uncle, he has harmed me, for indeed, a man's uncle is not but the Sinw (two or three palm trees will come from a single root, so each is called a Sinw. A man's uncle is like that to his father. That is, he is like his father) of his father." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3758)

[Machine] Some people from the Ansar came to the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم and said: "We hear that some of your people say, 'Muhammad is like a date palm tree that grew in the valley of Kiba.'" Husain Al-Kinasi said: "The valley of Kiba is a beautiful place." The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم asked: "Who am I, O people?" They said: "You are the Messenger of Allah." He said: "I am Muhammad, the son of Abdullah, the son of Abd al-Muttalib." Then he said: "We have never heard of any lineage before this, but indeed Allah created His creation and made me from the best of His creation. Then He separated them into two groups, and made me from the best of the two groups. Then He made them into tribes, and made me from the best of them. Then He made them into houses, and made me from the best of them. And I am the best of you in lineage and the best of you in soul."

ahmad:17518Yaḥyá b. Ādam > Ibn al-Mubārak > Yūnus > al-Zuhrī > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥārith b. Nawfal > ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib b. Rabīʿah b. al-Ḥārith

[Machine] He, along with Al-Fadl, approached the Prophet ﷺ to ask him to marry them and employ them in charity, so that they may benefit from it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, this charity is the impurities of the people, and it is not permissible for Muhammad or the family of Muhammad. Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Muhayyittah al-Zubaydiyyah, "Marry Al-Fadl." And he said to Nawfal ibn al-Harith ibn Abd al-Muttalib, "Marry Abd al-Muttalib ibn Rabiah." And he said to Muhayyittah ibn Jaz' al-Zubaydiyyah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ employed him for khums, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered him to give them something from khums that Abdullah ibn al-Harith did not mention. In the beginning of this hadith, it is mentioned that Ali met them and said, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ does not employ you." They said, "This is your jealousy." He said, "I am Abu Hassan of the people. I will not leave until I see what is returned to you." So when he spoke to him, he became silent, and Zaynab waved her garment to indicate that he was busy with their matter.

[Machine] To me and to al-Fadl ibn Abbas, the messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to distribute these charities. So we gave what people are supposed to give and we received what people receive in terms of benefits. While they were doing that, Ali ibn Abi Talib came and asked them, "What are you doing?" So they informed him of what they intended. He said, "Don't do that, by Allah! This is not something that should be done." He asked them, "Why are you doing this? This is not right for us. You accompanied the messenger of Allah ﷺ and married his daughter. We shouldn't do this to you." He said, "I am Abu Hassan, send them away." Then he lay down. So after he prayed Dhuhr, we went ahead of him to the room and stood there until he passed by us. Then he took our hands and said, "Bring out what you have been hiding." Then he entered and we entered with him, and he was at that time at the house of Zainab bint Jahsh. He said, "We spoke to him and said, 'O messenger of Allah, we came to you to command us with these charities, so that we may receive what people benefit from and give to you what people give.' The messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent and raised his head towards the roof of the house until we thought he wanted to speak to us. Zainab from behind her veil gestured to us as if she was preventing us from saying anything, and he turned and said, 'Indeed, charity is not befitting for Muhammad or the family of Muhammad, it is only the filth of people. Pray for Ma'mya bin Jaz' and Abu Sufyan bin al-Hareth, for they were upon the tenth.' So they came and he said to Ma'mya, 'Give from them sincerely more than the fifth.'"

I suffered from drought; so I entered a garden of Medina, and rubbed an ear-corn. I ate and carried in my garment. Then its master came, he beat me and took my garment. He came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said to him: You did not teach him if he was ignorant; and you did not feed him if he was hungry. He ordered him, so he returned my garment to me, and gave me one or half a wasq (sixty or thirty sa's) of corn. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2620)

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "The prayer is performed in pairs, and the testimony of faith is recited in every two units of prayer. It begins with takbir (saying Allahu Akbar), and ends with taslim (saying As-Salamu Alaykum). The hands are held together in a specific manner, and you say, 'O Allah, O Allah.' Whoever does not do this, then it is deficient and lacking." Hajjaj said, "And the hands are held together."

I came to him and said, 'My people have embraced Islam.' He asked, 'Is that true?' I replied, 'Yes.' He then accompanied me to my house until dawn, during which I performed the dawn prayer. He gave me a vessel to perform ablution from, and the Prophet ﷺ placed his fingers in the vessel, causing water to gush forth. He said, 'Whoever among you wants to perform ablution should do so.' I performed ablution using that water and prayed. The Prophet ﷺ instructed and advised me regarding my people, and he gave me from their charity. Then, a man approached the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'So-and-so has wronged me.' The Prophet ﷺ replied, 'There is no good in leading Muslims if that is the case.' Then, a man asked him for charity, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, 'Charity is like a headache in the head or a burning sensation in the stomach, or it could be a disease.' So, I gave him my booklet or the booklet of my wife and my charity. He asked me, 'What will you do?' I replied, 'How can I give it to him when I have heard from you what I heard?' He said, 'It is what you have heard.'

He then maintained that, one of his uncles came to him and said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from a work which beneficial to us. But obedience to Allah and His Apostle ﷺ is more beneficial to us. We asked : What is that ? He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If anyone has land, he should cultivate it, or lend it to his brother for cultivation. He should not rent it for a third or a quarter (of the produce) or for specified among of produce. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3395)

[Machine] I have seen three things from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that no one before me had seen and no one after me will see. I went with him on a journey until when we were on a certain path, we passed by a woman who had a child with her. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, this child has been afflicted with a harm, and we have been afflicted with harm from him. He seizes us multiple times a day." He said, "Give him to me." So she handed him to him, and he placed him between himself and the saddle of the camel. Then he blew in his mouth three times and said, "In the name of Allah, I am the servant of Allah, get out, O enemy of Allah." Then he returned him to her and said, "We will pass by this place on the return journey, so inform us what the child is like." She said, "We went and returned and found him at that place with three sheep-like animals." He asked, "What did your child do?" She said, "By the One who sent you with the truth, we did not sense any change in him until now." He said, "Gather these sheep together." He then said, "Go to them and tell them that the Messenger of Allah orders both of you to return to your respective places." He said, "I was sitting with him on a certain day when a camel came, making noise and hitting its legs in front of him. Then his eyes shed tears and he said, 'Look at whose camel this is. It has some importance.'" So I went to search for its owner and found it belonged to a man from the Ansar. I called him and he asked, "What is the matter with your camel?" I asked, "What is the matter with it?" He said, "I don’t know, by Allah. We have worked on it and exhausted it to the point that it can no longer be watered. We decided just yesterday to slaughter it and divide its meat among ourselves." He said, "Don’t do that. Give it to me." The man said, "No, it is for you, O Messenger of Allah." So he marked it with the seal of charity and then sent it away.

When he finished, he asked, "O Ya'la, what led you to groom yourself? Did you get married?" I replied, "No." He then said to me, "Go and wash it." I went and passed by a water container, and I dipped my hand in it and started to rub mud on myself until it vanished. Then I went back to him, and when the Prophet ﷺ saw me, he said, "He has returned with the best of his religion, Al-'Ala'. The sky has shown mercy."

So Ziyad left him.

[Machine] I was with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey, and he wanted to attend to a need. So, he commanded me to bring him two stones, and he placed them in his hands. Then, he commanded me to join the two stones together, and I did so. Then, he instructed me to return the stones to their original positions. He then brought a camel and struck it with his whip on the ground, causing it to make a noise. The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Do you know what the camel is saying?" He said, "It claims that its owner wants to slaughter it." So, the Prophet ﷺ sent a message to the owner of the camel, who said in response, "Are you requesting it as a gift?" The man said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have no possession more beloved to me than it." The Prophet ﷺ advised him to treat it kindly. The man replied, "Certainly, I will not honor its wealth over its nobility, O Messenger of Allah." The man then came upon a grave where its occupant was being punished. He said, "He is being punished in something other than the major punishment." So, the Prophet ﷺ commanded that a plantain leaf be placed on the grave, and he said, "Perhaps his punishment will be lightened for as long as it remains moist."
