The Prophet ﷺ said, "None will have the sweetness (delight) of Faith (a) till he loves a person and loves him only for Allah's sake, (b) and till it becomes dearer to him to be thrown in the fire than to revert to disbelief (Heathenism) after Allah has brought him out of it, (c) and till Allah and His Apostle become dearer to him than anything else." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6041)
By him in whose hand my soul is, you will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another: should I not guide you to something doing which you will love one another: spread out salutation among you. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5193)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The disease of nations before you was envy and hatred. They are the shavers, shavers of religion, not shavers of hair. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not inform you of something that if you do it, you will love one another? Spread peace among yourselves." It was narrated from Sulayman At-Taymi, from Yahya, from Ya'ish, from Maula of Az-Zubair, from Az-Zubair that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, Abu Ali Ar-Rudhbary informed us, Isma'il As-Saffar narrated to us, Muhammad Ibn Ghaleb narrated to us, Ubaid Ibn Ubaidah narrated to us, from Mu'tamir Ibn Sulayman, from his father, who mentioned it in its meaning.
Verily. Allah would say on the Day of Resurrection: Where are those who have mutual love for My Glory's sake? Today I shall shelter them in My shadow when there is no other shadow but the shadow of Mine. (Using translation from Muslim 2566)
[Machine] I heard from the mouth of Muhammad ﷺ that my love for those who love each other is true, and my love for those who maintain communication with me is true, and my love for those who meet me is true, or he said, my love for those who sacrifice for me is true.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Abdullah, which bond of Islam is the strongest?" Abdullah replied, "I said, Allah and His Messenger know best." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Loving for the sake of Allah, hating for the sake of Allah. This was reported in the narrations of Al-Bara' and Ibn Abbas and Aisha." Imam Al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said, "Even if a person favors his people with love, as long as it does not lead him to treat others unfairly, this is a connection that is not based on tribalism. Every person has something that they love and something that they dislike."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him on an expedition to the army of Dhat al-Salasil.
that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀs leading the army of Dhāt ā-Salāsil. He said: I came to him and I said: Which people do you love most?' In the ḥadīth of Yaḥyá ˹he said˺: I said: O Messenger of Allah, who is your most beloved among the people? He responded: "ʿĀʾishah." I said: Among the men? He said, "Her father." I said: Then who? He said, "Then ʿUmar." And then he enumerated several men.
[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with Al-Hasan on his shoulder, and he was saying, "O Allah, I love him, so love him."
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ that he said to Al-Hassan, "O Allah, I love him, so love him and love whoever loves him."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to take me and Al-Hasan bin Ali and say, "O Allah, I love them, so love them."
One who defected from obedience (to the Amir) and separated from the main body of the Muslims - if he died in that state-would die the death of one belonging to the days of Jahiliyya (i.e. would not die as a Muslim). One who fights under the banner of a people who are blind (to the cause for which they are fighting, i.e. do not know whether their cause is just or otherwise), who gets flared up with family pride, calls (people) to fight for their family honour, and supports his kith and kin (i.e. fights not for the cause of Allah but for the sake of this family or tribe) - if he is killed (in this fight), he dies as one belonging to the days of Jahiliyya. Whoso attacks my Ummah (indiscriminately) killing the righteous and the wicked of them, sparing not (even) those staunch in faith and fulfilling not his promise made with those who have been given a pledge of security - he has nothing to do with me and I have nothing to do with him. (Using translation from Muslim 1848a)
I asked: Messenger of Allah! what is party spirit? He replied: That you should help your people in wrongdoing. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5119)
[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, is it a form of tribalism for a man to support his people in what is right?" He replied, "No."
[Machine] The example of someone who assists his people in something untrue is like a tired camel that is pulled by its tail. Abu Dawud raised it, while Shu'ba did not. The sheikh, may Allah have mercy on him, said that it has been narrated from Sufyan and Israel as a raised hadith [a statement attributed directly to the Prophet Muhammad]. Abu Ali al-Rudhbari informed us that Muhammad ibn Bakr narrated to him, who narrated from Abu Dawud, who narrated from Ibn Bashshar, who narrated from Abu Amer, who narrated from Sufyan, who narrated from Simak ibn Harb, who narrated from Abdur Rahman ibn Abdullah ibn Masood, who said, "I reached the Prophet ﷺ while he was in a dome of Adam, and he mentioned something similar to this."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever supports injustice is like a camel that is dragging its tail." This was narrated by Zuhayr ibn Mu'awiya from Samaak, who is stationed (standing).
[Machine] They say it is the praying for rain by the clouds.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There is no sin that Allah is more deserving to hasten their punishment in this world for its owner, along with what is saved for him in the Hereafter, than transgression and severing of family ties. He informed us that Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz told us that Abu al-Fadl ibn Ibrahim narrated to us that Ahmad ibn Salamah narrated to us that Abu Ammar al-Husayn ibn Hurrath narrated to us that Al-Fadl ibn Musa narrated to us from al-Husayn ibn Wakeed from Matar, who narrated to us that Qatadah narrated to him from Mutarrif ibn Abdullah ibn al-Shakhbir, who narrated to him from 'Iyad ibn Himaar who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood among us and mentioned a Hadith that he said, "Verily, Allah has commanded me to be humble, so that no one will boast over another."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The strong person is not the one who can overpower others in wrestling. Rather, the strong person is the one who controls their anger."
[Machine] The apostle of Allah ﷺ said that one of the major sins is cursing a man and his parents. They asked, "O Messenger of Allah, does a man curse his parents?" He said, "Yes, a man curses the father of another, and he curses his own father, and he curses his mother, and he curses his own mother."
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, there is a man from my people who insults me while he is beneath me." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The one who starts the abuse is the more sinful until the oppressed strikes back." This hadith was narrated by Amr ibn Marzooq from Imran from Qatadah from Yazid, and it was also narrated by Ibn Abi 'Arubah from Qatadah from Mutarraf until his statement, "and they lie." Shayban also narrated it from Qatadah. Wahb ibn Abd Allah ibn Al-Shekkhir narrated from 'Iyad ibn Himar that he asked the Prophet ﷺ , "O Prophet of Allah, what if a man insults me while he is of lesser lineage?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The one who starts the abuse is the more sinful until the oppressed strikes back." It was reported that the meaning of what came after was mentioned by Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz and Abu Sa'id ibn Abi 'Amr. They both narrated from Abu Al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub, who narrated from Muhammad ibn 'Ubaid Allah ibn Abi Dawood Al-Munadi, who narrated from Yunus ibn Muhammad, who narrated from Shayban, who narrated from Qatadah. This wording has been established in the hadith of Abu Hurairah, in addition to what was mentioned before it.
[Machine] Allah ﷺ said, "The one who started the conflict is responsible for what the oppressed person did, as long as the oppressed person did not transgress."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said that charity does not decrease wealth and Allah does not increase by pardoning except in honor, and no one humbles themselves for Allah except that Allah elevates them.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Shall I not guide you to the noblest of character in this world and the Hereafter? It is to forgive those who wronged you, to give to those who deprived you, and to maintain ties with those who cut you off."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There are three qualities that, if found in a person, Allah will account for them with an easy reckoning and admit them into Paradise by His mercy." They asked, "Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Those who give to those who have deprived them, forgive those who have wronged them, and maintain ties with those who have severed ties with them." They asked, "What will be my reward if I do that, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "You will be held accountable with an easy reckoning and Allah will admit you into Paradise by His mercy."
I saw a man whose opinion was accepted by the people, and whatever he said they submitted to it. I asked: Who is he? They said: This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: On you be peace, Messenger of Allah, twice. He said: Do not say "On you be peace," for "On you be peace" is a greeting for the dead, but say "Peace be upon you". I asked: You are the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon you)? He said: I am the Messenger of Allah Whom you call when a calamity befalls you and He removes it; when you suffer from drought and you call Him, He grows food for you; and when you are in a desolate land or in a desert and your she-camel strays and you call Him, He returns it to you. I said: Give me some advice. He said: Do not abuse anyone. He said that he did not abuse a freeman, or a slave, or a camel or a sheep thenceforth. He said: Do not look down upon any good work, and when you speak to your brother, show him a cheerful face. This is a good work. Have your lower garment halfway down your shin; if you cannot do it, have it up to the ankles. Beware of trailing the lower garment, for it is conceit and Allah does not like conceit. And if a man abuses and shames you for something which he finds in you, then do not shame him for something which you find in him; he will bear the evil consequences for it. [Machine] "So, I heard a boy from the servant of Abdul Rahman ibn Awf saying that the vaccine of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was taken. I asked who took it? He said, Ghatafan and Fazara. I climbed up the hill and called, 'O Sabahah, O Sabahah,' then I hurriedly followed their footsteps until I recovered it from them. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came with a group of his companions, so I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the people are thirsty and we have hurried them to fetch water for them.' He said, 'O son of Akwa, do you have the means? So, show me.' Indeed, the people are drinking from Ghatafan.'"

While I was sitting with the Prophet, Abu Bakr came, lifting up one corner of his garment uncovering his knee. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Your companion has had a quarrel." Abu Bakr greeted (the Prophet ﷺ ) and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! There was something (i.e. quarrel) between me and the Son of Al-Khattab. I talked to him harshly and then regretted that, and requested him to forgive me, but he refused. This is why I have come to you." The Prophet ﷺ said thrice, "O Abu Bakr! May Allah forgive you." In the meanwhile, ʿUmar regretted (his refusal of Abu Bakr's excuse) and went to Abu Bakr's house and asked if Abu Bakr was there. They replied in the negative. So he came to the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him, but signs of displeasure appeared on the face of the Prophet ﷺ till Abu Bakr pitied (ʿUmar), so he knelt and said twice, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! By Allah! I was more unjust to him (than he to me)." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah sent me (as a Prophet) to you (people) but you said (to me), 'You are telling a lie,' while Abu Bakr said, 'He has said the truth,' and consoled me with himself and his money." He then said twice, "Won't you then give up harming my companion?" After that nobody harmed Abu Bakr. (Using translation from Bukhārī 3661)

[Machine] A man began to insult Abu Bakr and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while they were sitting, and he found it amusing and smiled. When this continued, Abu Bakr responded to him with some of his words, which made the Messenger of Allah ﷺ angry. He stood up and Abu Bakr followed him, saying, "O Messenger of Allah, he was insulting me while you were sitting. When I responded to him with some of his words, you became angry and stood up." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, there was someone with you who was warding off harm from you. But when you responded to him, the Shaytan sat down, and I did not want to sit with the Shaytan." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Abu Bakr, there is no servant who is wronged and accepts it for the sake of Allah except that Allah grants him victory because of it."

Then Hassan said, "Indeed, the prestige and glory belongs to the family of Hashim, the children of Makhzum's daughter, and your father, the slave."

Now you have called for this lion who strikes (the enemies) with his tail. He then brought out his tongue and began to move it and said: By Him Who has sent you with Truth, I shall tear them with my tongue as the leather is torn. Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Don't be hasty; (let) Abu Bakr who has the best know- ledge of the lineage of the Quraish draw a distinction for you in regard to my lineage, as my lineage is thesame as theirs. Hassan then came to him (Abu Bakr) and after making inquiry (in regard to the lineage of the Holy Prophet) came back to him (the holy Prophet) and said: Messenger of Allah, he (Abu Bakr) has drawn a distinction in vour lineage (and that of the Quraish) By Him Who has sent you with Truth, I shall draw out from them (your name) as hair is drawn out from the flour. 'A'isha said: I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying to Hassin: Verily Ruh-ul- Qudus would continue to help you so long as you put up a defence on behalf of Allah and His Messenger. And she said: I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: Hassan satirised against them and gave satisfaction to the (Muslims) and disquieted (the non-Muslims). You satirised Muhammad, but I replied on his behalf, And there is reward with Allah for this. You satirised Muhammad. virtuous, righteous, The Apostle of Allah, whose nature is truthfulness. So verily my father and his father and my honour Are a protection to the honour of Muhammad; May I lose my dear daughter, if you don't see her, Wiping away the dust from the two sides of Kada', They pull at the rein, going upward; On their shoulders are spears thirsting (for the blood of the enemy) ; our steeds are sweating-our women wipe them with their mantles. If you had not interfered with us, we would have performed the 'Umra, And (then) there was the Victory, and the darkness cleared away. Otherwise wait for the fighting on the day in which Allah will honour whom He pleases. And Allah said: I have sent a servant who says the Truth in which there is no ambiguity; And Allah said: I have prepared an army-they are the Ansar whose object is fighting (the enemy), There reaches every day from Ma'add abuse, or fighting or satire; Whoever satirises the Apostle from amongst you, or praises him and helps it is all the same, And Gabriel, the Messenger of Allah is among us, and the Holy Spirit who has no match. We went to ʿAisha while Hassan bin Thabit was with her reciting poetry to her from some of his poetic verses, saying "A chaste wise lady about whom nobody can have suspicion. She gets up with an empty stomach because she never eats the flesh of indiscreet (ladies)." ʿAisha said to him, "But you are not like that." I said to her, "Why do you grant him admittance, though Allah said:-- "and as for him among them, who had the greater share therein, his will be a severe torment."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about poetry and he said, "It is speech, and its beauty is beauty, and its ugliness is ugliness. It is accepted in a group, and the authentic narration from the Prophet ﷺ is considered as a clear message."
[Machine] Aisha asked: "Did the Prophet ﷺ ever emulate anything from poetry?" She said: "Perhaps he came in while saying 'news will come to you from someone who hasn't been informed.'"
[Machine] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and recited to him [the poem titled] "The Raging Sea". "O Malik al-Nas and Deyan al-'Arab, I found a particle among the particles. I sought it as food in the month of Rajab. In the narration of Al-Karabissi, I went seeking it, but it left me in conflict and war. It violated the covenant and clung to sin. They are the worst adversary for one who is defeated." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then imitated it and said, "They are the worst adversary for one who is defeated." And Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdan informed us, who reported from Ahmad ibn 'Ubaid, who reported from Ahmad ibn Yahya al-Hulwani, who reported from Ibrahim ibn Ar'ara, who reported from Yusuf ibn Yazid Abu Ma'shar al-Bara', who reported from Tayasala ibn Nubatah al-Mazini, who reported from his father, and Al-Hayy reported from Ash'ha ibn Ma'iz. He said, "I came to the Prophet ﷺ and recited it to him. He remembered it except that he said, 'I married a particle,' and he said, 'I went seeking it,' and he said, 'But it opposed me in conflict and fled.' He did not mention the fifth line. And others have reported from Ibrahim Tayasala ibn Sadakah."

[Machine] I asked him, "Did you see the Prophet ﷺ?" He said, "Yes, and he was a man of few words. His companions would recite poetry in front of him and talk about things from the pre-Islamic era, and he would smile with them when they laughed."
[Machine] I asked Jabir ibn Samurah, "Did you used to sit with the Prophet ﷺ?" He said, "Yes, and he was often silent and rarely laughed. The companions of the Prophet ﷺ used to exchange poems, and the Prophet ﷺ would smile."
