[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Verily, there is wisdom in poetry." The words of Al-Shafi'i's hadith, and in the narration of Abu Dawood, it is said by Abu ibn Ka'b, from the Prophet ﷺ : "Verily, there is wisdom in poetry."
[Machine] He informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, there is wisdom in poetry."
In poetry there is wisdom. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5010)
[Machine] He said, Messenger of Allah ﷺ , said, "The most truthful saying said by the Arabs is: Behold! Everything other than Allah is false." This hadith was reported in Sahih from the narration of Ghandar from Shu'bah.
[Machine] It means for a people who have Abu Huraira among them, I ask you by Allah, have you heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Answer for me, has Allah supported you with the Holy Spirit?" So he said, "O Allah, yes."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , saying, "O Hassan, respond on behalf of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ . O Allah, support him with the Holy Spirit." Abu Hurairah replied, "Yes."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Hassaan, "Incite them and Jibreel is with you," the wording of the Hadith of Wahb, and in the narration of Sulaiman, "Incite them or he said, 'Hajihim,' and Jibreel is with you."
[Machine] Hassan said, "O Messenger of Allah, give me permission regarding my father Sufyan." He ﷺ said, "What about your connection to him?" He said, "By the One who honored you, I will ask you about them as easily as one would ask for a hair from dough." Then Hassan said, "Indeed, the prestige and glory belongs to the family of Hashim, the children of Makhzum's daughter, and your father, the slave."
Now you have called for this lion who strikes (the enemies) with his tail. He then brought out his tongue and began to move it and said: By Him Who has sent you with Truth, I shall tear them with my tongue as the leather is torn. Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Don't be hasty; (let) Abu Bakr who has the best know- ledge of the lineage of the Quraish draw a distinction for you in regard to my lineage, as my lineage is thesame as theirs. Hassan then came to him (Abu Bakr) and after making inquiry (in regard to the lineage of the Holy Prophet) came back to him (the holy Prophet) and said: Messenger of Allah, he (Abu Bakr) has drawn a distinction in vour lineage (and that of the Quraish) By Him Who has sent you with Truth, I shall draw out from them (your name) as hair is drawn out from the flour. 'A'isha said: I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying to Hassin: Verily Ruh-ul- Qudus would continue to help you so long as you put up a defence on behalf of Allah and His Messenger. And she said: I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: Hassan satirised against them and gave satisfaction to the (Muslims) and disquieted (the non-Muslims). You satirised Muhammad, but I replied on his behalf, And there is reward with Allah for this. You satirised Muhammad. virtuous, righteous, The Apostle of Allah, whose nature is truthfulness. So verily my father and his father and my honour Are a protection to the honour of Muhammad; May I lose my dear daughter, if you don't see her, Wiping away the dust from the two sides of Kada', They pull at the rein, going upward; On their shoulders are spears thirsting (for the blood of the enemy) ; our steeds are sweating-our women wipe them with their mantles. If you had not interfered with us, we would have performed the 'Umra, And (then) there was the Victory, and the darkness cleared away. Otherwise wait for the fighting on the day in which Allah will honour whom He pleases. And Allah said: I have sent a servant who says the Truth in which there is no ambiguity; And Allah said: I have prepared an army-they are the Ansar whose object is fighting (the enemy), There reaches every day from Ma'add abuse, or fighting or satire; Whoever satirises the Apostle from amongst you, or praises him and helps it is all the same, And Gabriel, the Messenger of Allah is among us, and the Holy Spirit who has no match. (Using translation from Muslim 2490)

We went to ʿAisha while Hassan bin Thabit was with her reciting poetry to her from some of his poetic verses, saying "A chaste wise lady about whom nobody can have suspicion. She gets up with an empty stomach because she never eats the flesh of indiscreet (ladies)." ʿAisha said to him, "But you are not like that." I said to her, "Why do you grant him admittance, though Allah said:-- "and as for him among them, who had the greater share therein, his will be a severe torment." (24.11) On that, ʿAisha said, "And what punishment is more than blinding?" She, added, "Hassan used to defend or say poetry on behalf of Messenger of Allah ﷺ (against the infidels). (Using translation from Bukhārī 4146)
[Machine] He said to the Prophet, "Indeed, Allah has revealed in poetry what He has not revealed in other forms. He said, 'Indeed, the believer strives with his sword and his tongue. By the One in whose hand my soul is, it is as if you are throwing pearls at them.'"
[Machine] That Ka'b bin Malik, when Allah revealed in poetry what He revealed, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said to him, "Indeed, Allah has revealed in poetry what you have knowledge of, so how do you see it?" So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the believer strives with his sword and his tongue."
[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ said, "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, it is as if you are showering them with flowing pearls with what you say to them of poetry."
The verse “And the poets it is those straying in evil who follow them. He (Allah) then abrogated it and made an exception saying: Except those who believe and work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5016)
That once Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Your brother, i.e. ʿAbdullah bin Rawaha does not say obscene (referring to his verses): Amongst us is Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who recites His Book when it dawns. He showed us the guidance, after we were blind. We believe that whatever he says will come true. And he spends his nights in such a way as his sides do not touch his bed. While the pagans were deeply asleep." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1155)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about poetry and he said, "It is speech, and its beauty is beauty, and its ugliness is ugliness. It is accepted in a group, and the authentic narration from the Prophet ﷺ is considered as a clear message."
[Machine] Aisha asked: "Did the Prophet ﷺ ever emulate anything from poetry?" She said: "Perhaps he came in while saying 'news will come to you from someone who hasn't been informed.'"
[Machine] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and recited to him [the poem titled] "The Raging Sea". "O Malik al-Nas and Deyan al-'Arab, I found a particle among the particles. I sought it as food in the month of Rajab. In the narration of Al-Karabissi, I went seeking it, but it left me in conflict and war. It violated the covenant and clung to sin. They are the worst adversary for one who is defeated." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then imitated it and said, "They are the worst adversary for one who is defeated." And Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdan informed us, who reported from Ahmad ibn 'Ubaid, who reported from Ahmad ibn Yahya al-Hulwani, who reported from Ibrahim ibn Ar'ara, who reported from Yusuf ibn Yazid Abu Ma'shar al-Bara', who reported from Tayasala ibn Nubatah al-Mazini, who reported from his father, and Al-Hayy reported from Ash'ha ibn Ma'iz. He said, "I came to the Prophet ﷺ and recited it to him. He remembered it except that he said, 'I married a particle,' and he said, 'I went seeking it,' and he said, 'But it opposed me in conflict and fled.' He did not mention the fifth line. And others have reported from Ibrahim Tayasala ibn Sadakah."
[Machine] I asked him, "Did you see the Prophet ﷺ?" He said, "Yes, and he was a man of few words. His companions would recite poetry in front of him and talk about things from the pre-Islamic era, and he would smile with them when they laughed."
[Machine] I asked Jabir ibn Samurah, "Did you used to sit with the Prophet ﷺ?" He said, "Yes, and he was often silent and rarely laughed. The companions of the Prophet ﷺ used to exchange poems, and the Prophet ﷺ would smile."
[Machine] "I saw people from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ reciting poetry near or around the house. I only heard someone say: The acts of Ibrahim are doubtful."
[Machine] The last gathering we sat in was a session where Zaid ibn Thabit recited poetry to us.
[Machine] We used to sit with the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and they would recite poetry to each other and talk about their days during the pre-Islamic period.
[Machine] For me, poetry is indeed words, and indeed, from words, there are truths and falsehoods.
[Machine] The poets amongst the companions of Muhammad ﷺ were Abdullah ibn Rawaha, Hassaan ibn Thabit, and Ka'b ibn Malik.
[Machine] If any of you reads something from the Quran and does not know its interpretation, then seek its interpretation in poetry, for it is the collection of the Arabs. This is the correct statement, which is attributed.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, there is wisdom in poetry, and if something from the Quran becomes difficult for you, seek it in poetry, for it is Arabic in wording at first."
