[Machine] In this verse, {those who purchase idle talk} [Luqman 6], it is said that it was revealed concerning singing and similar things.
that he heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful. And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow.' Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5590)
[Machine] The passage translates to:
"Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghanm al-Ash'ari visited Damascus, and a group of us gathered around him. We discussed the issue of fermented drinks; some among us permitted it, while others disliked it. I came to him after we had delved into the topic, and he said, 'I heard Abu Malik al-Ash'ari, a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, narrate from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: There will be people from my nation who will drink wine, calling it by other than its real name, and musical instruments and singers will play over their heads. Allah will cause the earth to swallow them, and He will turn them into apes and pigs.'"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: Indeed, Allah has forbidden you from consuming alcohol, gambling, and drumming. And he said: Every intoxicant is prohibited.
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ means that Allah has prohibited upon me or has prohibited the consumption of alcohol, gambling with pieces, and instruments of music. He said that every intoxicant is forbidden. Sufyan said, I asked Ali, what is "kubah"? He said, it is the drum."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , prohibited the consumption of alcohol, gambling, adding fermented milk to fresh milk, and the wild narcotic plant called "Ghubayra". He said that every intoxicating substance is forbidden. Abd al-Hameed ibn Ja'far contradicted him regarding the name of the person who narrated from him, Yazid ibn Abi Habib.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever lies about me intentionally, let him take his seat in the Hellfire." Then he said, "Indeed, Allah and His Messenger have prohibited wine, gambling, al-khubz (bread made from grains), and al-ghubayra (a type of alcoholic drink). And others narrated from Abd al-Hamid, from Yazid, from Amr ibn al-Walid ibn Abdah."
[Machine] One day, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to them while they were in the mosque and said, "Indeed, my Lord has forbidden me from consuming alcohol, gambling, Nabidh (a fermented drink made from dates or grapes), and kubba (a drink made from mixing water with pounded dates or sugar). And Al-Qinna (a drink made from honey mixed with water)."
Ibn Wahb informed me, on the authority of Al-Laith ibn Saad and Ibn Lahia, who reported it from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, who reported it from Amr ibn al-Walid ibn Abda, who reported it from Qais ibn Saad. And Qais was the bearer of the Prophet's flag. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "And Al-Ghubayra (a type of date wine) and every intoxicant is forbidden."
Amr ibn al-Walid said, "I heard Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As mention the same, but he did not mention Al-Qinna."
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Verily, my Lord has forbidden me from consuming wine, gambling, Qinnin, and wooden vessels.'"
[Machine] Ibn Umar heard the sound of a flute, so he put his fingers in his ears and moved away from the road. He asked me, "O Nafi', do you hear anything?" I replied, "No." Then he removed his fingers from his ears and said, "I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he heard something like this, so he did the same thing."
In a narration by Al-Qadi, he said, "I was traveling with Ibn Umar and he heard the sound of shepherds playing a flute. He left the road and kept asking, 'Do you hear anything?' I said, 'No.' Then he returned to the road and said, 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do this.'"
Abu Ali reported to us, narrated by Muhammad ibn Bakr, who said Abu Dawood narrated to us: Mahmood ibn Khalid narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Mut'im ibn al-Miqdam narrated to us, from Nafi', who said, "I was riding behind Ibn Umar when he passed by a shepherd playing a flute, and he recounted something similar."
Another narration reported by Abu Ali, narrated by Muhammad ibn Bakr, who said Abu Dawood narrated to us: Ahmad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, Abdullah ibn Ja'far al-Raqqi narrated to us, Abu al-Malih from Maymun from Nafi', who said, "We were with Ibn Umar when I heard the sound of a flute, and he recounted something similar."

[Machine] The passage translates to: "The drum is forbidden, musical instruments are forbidden, drumming is forbidden, and the flute is forbidden."
[Machine] "In this verse in the Quran, it says: 'O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.' [Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:90] It is mentioned in the Torah that Allah sent the truth to eliminate falsehood and to abolish play, the flute, the tambourine, stringed instruments, and wind instruments. Ibn Rajaa added in his narration that it also includes images, poetry, and wine. Whoever tastes it swears by his right hand and his honor that he will make him (the one who drinks it) thirsty on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever leaves it after it has been forbidden, I will give him to drink from the pond of al-Quds (Jerusalem). Abu 'Ubayd mentioned that the term 'al-mazahir' is a singular form of 'mizhar' which means the oud (musical instrument) that is struck. And as for the term 'al-kinanat', it is said to refer to the sticks (used for percussion instruments), and it is also said that it refers to tambourines. And as for the term 'al-kubah', it means what is mentioned in another raised narration, and Muhammad bin Kathir informed me that the term 'al-kubah' refers to dice in the dialect of the people of Yemen, and others said it refers to drums. Sheikh [referring to a person, not a translation of the word] said..."

[Machine] Indeed, in what Allah has revealed to Moses, we have revealed the truth to invalidate falsehood and to invalidate play, musical instruments, harps, poetry, and wine. So my Lord has sworn that no servant who fears Me will abandon it except that I will cause them to drink from the pure springs of Paradise. Zaid ibn al-Hubab asked Abu Mawdud, "What are the Mazameer?" He said, "Square drums." So I asked, "What are the Kannarat?" He said, "Cymbals." Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, who heard from Abu Ishaq Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya, who heard from Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who heard from Abu Ahmad Sha'tham ibn Asil al-Ajli, who dictated it to Jangarooz. Then Zaid ibn al-Hubab mentioned it along with the interpretation.
