[Machine] "They were brought low, so they suffered. It was said to Aisha, 'O Mother of the Believers, should we not entertain them?' She said, 'Yes.' She said, 'So send for so-and-so the singer.' He came to them and passed by Aisha in the house. She saw him singing and moving his head with pleasure, and he had a lot of hair. Aisha said, 'Woe to them, the devils, get him out, get him out.' So they expelled him."
[Machine] Look, O son of my brother, when God distinguishes between truth and falsehood, in which of them will singing be placed?
66.65 [Machine] The man does not attribute himself to singing, nor is he approached for that, and it does not come to him, but he is only known to be indulging in the moment and singing along. Al-Shafi'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said: This does not invalidate his testimony, and the same goes for women.
[Machine] Abu Bakr entered and I had two slave girls from the Ansar singing what the Ansar used to say on the day of Bua'ath or Bughaath. Al-Harithi doubted and said, "But they are not singers." So Abu Bakr said, "Are the horns of Satan in the house of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? And this is the day of Eid." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Abu Bakr, indeed every nation has a festival, and this is our festival."
[Machine] Bakr entered upon her while she had two servant girls who were singing, clapping, and playing. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came wearing a cloak, so Abu Bakr scolded them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ uncovered his face and said, "Leave them alone, O Abu Bakr, for these are the days of celebration and those are the days of Mina, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is in Madinah." Aisha said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ covering me with his cloak while I was watching the Abyssinians play in the mosque, and I was a young girl."
[Machine] "And the accusative case is a type of Arab poetry resembling Hudaa. Abu Ubayd Al-Harawi narrated another story from Khawwat ibn Khabir, from Umar, Abdul Rahman ibn Auf, and Abu Ubaydah ibn Al-Jarrah in the Book of Hajj. He said in it: 'Khawwat continued to recite their poetry until the magic appeared...'"
[Machine] He informed him that he saw Usama bin Zaid lying in the Prophet's mosque with one leg raised over the other, singing in a high-pitched voice. Yunus bin Yazid and others reported this from Al-Zuhri. Muslim bin Al-Hajjaj said, and the hadith is as the people have said, except for Ma'mar.
[Machine] "So the person who heard it informed me while he was on his camel, and he was the commander of the army, raising his voice in praise. And about Az-Zuhri, he said: 'Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Utbah informed me that his father informed him that he heard Abdullah bin Al-Arqam praising and raising his voice in praise.' Abdullah said: 'No, by Allah, I have never seen a man like the one I have seen before. He was the most fearful of Allah, more than Abdullah bin Al-Arqam.'"
[Machine] And which man among the emigrants have I not heard singing about perseverance?
[Machine] I do not see any harm in it unless it is indecent.
66.66 [Machine] The man takes the boy and the girl singers, and gathers them together and they sing. Shafi'i said, may Allah have mercy on him: This is foolishness that his testimony is rejected, and he is more foolish in regards to the girl, before there is foolishness and immorality in her.
[Machine] About Mujahid's saying, "And among the people are those who purchase idle talk" [Luqman 6], he said: It is the act of buying male and female singers with a lot of money, and listening to them and to their likes of falsehood.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "No one is more unjust than Allah, and that is why He has forbidden obscenities. And no one loves praise more than Him."
[Machine] It happened that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Indeed, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, becomes jealous, and indeed the believer becomes jealous. The jealousy of Allah is that the believer enters what is prohibited for him. And in another narration, from Hammam, and from the jealousy of Allah is that the believer commits the sin that Allah has prohibited for him."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed, jealousy is a part of faith, and indeed, slander is a part of hypocrisy." Al-Qasim ibn Salamah reported it from more than one person, from Dawud ibn Qays, from Zaid ibn Aslam, in this manner without mentioning his statement. And slander is debased talk." Abu Ubaid said: "Slander is taken from madzi, meaning when a man and woman are together and then he leaves them, they slander one another." Abu Abdur Rahman As-Sulami narrated it to us, Abu Al-Hasan Al-Karazi reported it from Ali ibn Abdul Aziz, from Abu Ubaid, who said that more than one person narrated it from Dawud ibn Qays. The sheikh mentioned it, and others reported it from Zaid ibn Aslam, from Ata ibn Yasar, from Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri, from the Prophet ﷺ , in a connected manner.
[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that he said three categories of people will not enter Paradise: the disobedient child towards their parents, the adulterer, and the man who imitates women. This was also confirmed by Umar ibn Muhammad through Abdullah ibn Yasar.
[Machine] O Abu Sa'id, I have a beautiful-voiced female slave. If I were to teach her singing, perhaps I can profit from her wealth. Al-Hasan said: Indeed, Isma'il used to command his family to pray and give zakat, and he was pleasing to his Lord. So the man repeated his statement three times. Al-Hasan said to him: Indeed, Isma'il used to command his family to pray and give zakat.
66.67 [Machine] Who allowed dancing if it does not involve breaking and cross-dressing
[Machine] We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , myself, Ja'far, and Zaid. He said to Zaid, "You are our brother and freed slave." So he tied his waistcloth and said to Ja'far, "You resemble me in appearance and character." So he tied his waistcloth behind Zaid's waistcloth. Then he said to me, "You are from me and I am from you." So I tied my waistcloth behind Ja'far's waistcloth. Al-Shaykh, Hanit bin Hanit, said, "This is not commonly known or practiced, but if it is authentic, it indicates the permissibility of this practice. It involves lifting one leg and jumping with joy. And the dance performed based on this would be similar in permissibility, and Allah knows best."
66.68 [Machine] There is no harm in listening to the Huda and Bedouin chants, whether it is a lot or a little.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked me, "Do you have any poetry from Umayyah ibn Abi as-Salt?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Recite it." So I recited a poem and he said, "Recite more." I kept reciting until I reached a hundred verses. Abu Abdullah informed us, and Abu al-Walid informed me, and Ibrahim ibn Abi Talib informed us, and Ibn Abi Umar informed us, and Sufyan mentioned it with its chain of narration similar to this.
[Machine] I composed a hundred verses of poetry from the words of Umayyah bin Abi Salt. All of it says "Hey hey!" Then he said, "If it weren't for his poetry, he would have embraced Islam."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on a journey, and there was a young boy called Anjasha who would lead their animals and drive them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Woe to you, O Anjasha, be gentle with your driving." Ayub narrated from Abu Qilabah, which means the women.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ is reported to have said, "O Anjashah, do not break the bottles." They mentioned this in the authentic hadith from the narration of Hammam.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Woe to you, O 'Anjasha! Run your markets with bottles."
[Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Khaybar and traveled during the night. A man from the people said to 'Amir bin Al-Akwa, "Won't you let us hear some poetry from you?" 'Amir was a poet, so he recited the following verses:
"O Allah, if it were not for You, we would not have been guided,
nor given in charity, nor prayed.
So forgive our sins,
for all that we have pursued in Your cause,
and make our feet firm,
if we encounter the enemy.
And bestow tranquility upon us,
when we are called upon.
And they blamed us with mockery,
but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Who is this poet?'
They said, 'It is 'Amir bin Al-Akwa.'
[Machine] He (referring to the person being addressed) was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey when he said to him, "O Ibn Rawaha, alight and move the baggage." He replied, "O Messenger of Allah, I have left that." Then, Umar said to him, "Listen and obey." So he threw himself down and said, "By Allah, if it were not for you, we would not have been guided, we would not have given charity, and we would not have prayed. So descend tranquility upon us and make our feet firm if we encounter (the enemy)."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Mecca, and Ibn Rawaha was holding his spear and saying, "The sea, Al-Rajz. Let the disbelievers of Bani Kaffarah be prevented from his path today. We will strike you with a blow that will remove the barrier from its path and astonish the true friend. O Lord, I believe in what he says."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Mecca, and its people stood in groups, looking at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions. Ibn Rawaha walked in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Clear the way for the disbelievers, for today we will strike you with a blow that will remove the distress from its place and astonish the beloved from his beloved. O Lord, I believe in what is said." Omar said to Ibn Rawaha, "O Ibn Rawaha, are you reciting poetry in the sanctuary of Allah and in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What is the matter, Omar? By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, his words have affected them even more than the thunderbolt." Al-Shafi'i may Allah have mercy on him said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came across a group from the Banu Tamim with Had and he mentioned the meaning of the story..."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was traveling towards Ash-Sham (Greater Syria) when he heard a voice in the distance of the night. He said, "Hurry us to this voice." They hurried until they caught up to it and greeted the person. The person asked, "Who are you people?" They replied, "We are from Mudar." The man said, "This night has reached Mudar." A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am the first person who tamed camels in the pre-Islamic era." The Prophet asked, "How is that?" He replied, "A man from amongst us got jealous of another man's camels, so he intended to harm them, but the camels refused to be gathered. He struck one of them and broke his hand, while the boy kept saying, 'And both his hands!' Suddenly, the camels gathered while he was saying, 'Say such and such.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed." Sufyan added: Al-Ala' bin Abdulkarim and Mujahid added in their narrations that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Verily, our haida (leader) and an-nayah (Nabataean Arab) are similar."

(The narrator Qutaibah said: This tradition has been narrated by Sa'id b. Abu Sa'id in my collection): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who does not chant the Qur'an is not one of us. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1469)

[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "He who does not sing the Quran, is not one of us." I asked Ibn Abi Mulaykah, "O Abu Muhammad, what if someone does not have a good voice?" He said, "He should recite it to the best of his ability." This hadith has different reports in its chain of narration from Ibn Abi Mulaykah. It is narrated from him from these two ways, and it is also mentioned from him from Ibn Abbas, from Aisha, and from others. The statement of Ibn Abi Mulaykah in this hadith confirms the correctness of the interpretation of Imam Al-Shafi'i, may Allah have mercy on him.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (may ﷺ ) said: "Recite upon me." So I said: "Shall I recite upon you while it is revealed upon you?" He said: "Yes, recite." So I recited Surah An-Nisa until I reached the verse: "So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness and we bring you, [O Muhammad] against these [people] as a witness?" (Quran 4:41) He said: "That is enough." Then he turned away and tears were flowing from his eyes.

66.71 [Machine] The Testimony of Tribalism Imam Shafi'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "Whoever exhibits tribalism through speech, embraces it, and calls others to it, then his testimony is rejected. This is because he has come with something forbidden, and there is no difference of opinion among the Muslim scholars regarding it." He cited the saying of Allah the Exalted: "The believers are but brothers" (Qur'an 49:10), and the saying of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ : "Be servants of Allah as brothers.

Avoid suspicion, for suspicion is the gravest lie in talk and do not be inquisitive about one another and do not spy upon one another and do not feel envy with the other, and nurse no malice, and nurse no aversion and hostility against one another. The Prophet ﷺ said: Allah, Most High, has removed from you the pride of the pre-Islamic period and its boasting in ancestors. One is only a pious believer or a miserable sinner. You are sons of Adam, and Adam came from dust. Let the people cease to boast about their ancestors. They are merely fuel in Jahannam; or they will certainly be of less account with Allah than the beetle which rolls dung with its nose. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5116)
