[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am a man who frequently speaks ill of others, and this is also the case with my family." He said, "Then where do you stand with seeking forgiveness? Verily, I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times during the day or, he said, during the day and night." Muhammad ibn Bashshar informed us, Muhammad informed us, Shu'bah narrated to us, he said, "I heard Abu Ishaq saying, I heard Al-Walid, Abu Al-Mughira, or Al-Mughira, Abu Al-Walid, narrating from Hudhaifa in a similar manner [170]. Most of the companions of Abu Ishaq disagreed with him."

[Machine] When is your last meeting with the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ? I said, "I haven't had any meeting with him since such and such a time." She understood my situation, so I said, "Mother, let me go to the Prophet ﷺ so that I don't leave him until he seeks forgiveness for me and for you." So I went to him and prayed Maghrib prayer with him. When he finished the prayer, he stood up to pray more and he continued to pray until he prayed Isha prayer, then he left.

[Machine] "We were with the Prophet ﷺ , when we descended with him, and we were close to a thousand riders. He then performed two rak'ahs of prayer, and then turned towards us with tears flowing from his eyes. Umar ibn al-Khattab went up to him and said, 'May my mother and father be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah. What is the matter with you?' He replied, 'I asked my Lord for forgiveness for my mother, but He did not grant me permission. So, my eyes shed tears of mercy for her from the Fire. And I had forbidden you from three things: visiting graves, but now visit them, for it will remind you of the Hereafter. I had also forbidden you from consuming sacrificial meat after three days, so now eat and hold onto whatever you wish. And I had forbidden you from drinking from containers, so now drink from any vessel you prefer, and do not consume intoxicants.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ participated in the Battle of Fath (Conquest). After the battle, he went to visit the graves. When he reached the closest one, he sat down by it as if he was speaking to someone sitting there who was crying. Umar ibn al-Khattab then approached him and asked him, "What makes you cry? May Allah make me your sacrifice." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "I asked my Lord for permission to visit the grave of the mother of Muhammad, and He granted me permission. So I asked Him to grant me permission to seek forgiveness for her, but He did not grant it. Verily, I forbade you from three things: keeping the sacrificial meat for more than three days, so eat what is apparent to you; visiting graves, so whoever wants may visit, for I have been granted permission to visit the grave of the mother of Muhammad; and using fermentation products such as dobba, hantamah, and muzaffat. I commanded you to avoid such products, for the container does not make anything permissible or forbidden. So abstain from all intoxicants."

[Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the conquest of Makkah towards the graves. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat by a grave and we saw him as if he was conversing with it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then stood up and wiped the tears from his eyes. 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, approached him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, what makes you cry?" He said, "I sought permission from my Lord to visit the grave of my mother, and He granted me permission. So I asked for forgiveness for her and was forbidden." He then gestured to us to sit, and we sat down. He said, "I prohibited you from visiting graves, but whoever wishes to visit should do so. I also prohibited you from eating the meat of sacrificial animals after three days, so eat and save what seems good to you. [Machine] Aisha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to test the women who migrated to him with this verse: "O Prophet, when the believing women come to you pledging to you that they will not associate anything with Allah, or steal, or commit unlawful sexual intercourse, or kill their children, or bring forth a slander they have fabricated between their arms and legs, or disobey you in what is right, then accept their pledge and ask Allah to forgive them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful" (Quran 60:12).

Urwah ibn Az-Zubayr said that Aisha asked the women who accepted this condition from among the believers, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "I have already pledged my allegiance to you and, by Allah, my hand has never touched the hand of a woman in allegiance. I have only pledged allegiance to them by saying, 'I have pledged allegiance to you upon that.'"

All of these acts are charity from you for yourself, and in your intimacy with your spouse there is reward for you.' Abu Dharr said: How can there be reward for me in my sexual desire? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Have you not seen that if you had a child, and he reached the age of discernment and you hoped for his goodness, then he died, would you not be rewarded for him? I said: Yes. He (the Prophet) said: Did you create him? I said: No, Allah created him. He said: Did you guide him? I said: No, Allah guided him. He said: Did you provide for him? I wanted to approach him, but I could not, so I called out to him: O Messenger of Allah, seek forgiveness for the young boy al-Numairi. He said: May Allah forgive you. He said: The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , sent Dihhak ibn Qays as a messenger. When he returned, he came back with a large number of camels, so the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said to him: Did you come to Hilal ibn 'Amir, Numair ibn Amir, and 'Amir ibn Rabia and take their entire wealth? He said: O Messenger of Allah, I heard you mentioning the expedition, so I wanted to come to you with camels that you could ride and carry on them. He said: By Allah, the one you left is more beloved to me than the one you took. Return it and take from the outskirts of their wealth their charity. He said: So I heard the Muslims calling those camels the Mujahid camels.

Abdullah said, "Abu Darda narrated this to us, and he was narrated to by Sa'id bin Abu Rabee' Al-Samman, who was narrated to by Sadqah bin Abu Sahl Al-Hunawi. Abdullah and Ahmad bin Abdullah Al-Maliki were confused about the name of the sheikh, and Saalih bin Abu Sadqah said, 'Indeed, he is Sadqah bin Abu Sahl Al-Hunawi.'"

[Machine] We arrived with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Hudaybiyyah when we were fourteen hundred and fifty and we had fifty sheep that didn't have enough water, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat on its mountains and either he invoked (Allah for rain) or he spread his hands, so we scattered, and we got water. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for the pledge of allegiance to be given in the trunk of a tree, so he pledged allegiance to him. The first of the people pledged allegiance to him, and he continued until he reached the middle of the people. He said, "O Salamah, pledge allegiance to me." I said, "I have already pledged allegiance to you among the first of the people, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Also pledge (again)." So I pledged allegiance to him. Then he said, "Where is your bracelet or your ring that you gave me?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, my paternal uncle, 'Amir, met me as a stranger, so I gave it to him." He said, "You are like the one whom Allah said about him: 'O Allah, enrich me (with wealth) and make poor (impoverish) me who is most beloved to me than myself.' " Then he laughed. Then the disbelievers sent a peace envoy to us until some of our people met with some of them. He said, "And you used to sell the horse of Talhah bin 'Ubaidullah, I used to feed and drink from it. I left my family and wealth as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger. When we reconciled between us and the people of Makkah, and some of us started to mix with others, I came to the tree, so I swept its thorns and laid in its shade. Then four men from the people of Makkah came to me while they were disbelievers acting with aggression towards the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So I moved away from them to another tree, and they hung their weapons and lay down. While they were like that, a caller from the bottom of the valley called, 'O family of Emigrants, Ibn Zunaym has been killed.' So I unsheathed my sword and went towards the four. I took their weapons and turned them into a pile of straw. Then I said, 'By the One who honored Muhammad, no man among you shall raise his head except that I will hit him where I mean.' Then I brought them to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and my uncle 'Amir came with the son of Makraz riding his horse, leading a group of seventy men. So when they arrived, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ glanced at them and said, 'Leave them, they will have the fruits of their misdeeds.' And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited the verse, 'And it is He who withheld their hands from you and your hands from them.' Then we returned to Al-Madinah and we stayed in a place called Lahy Jamāl. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sought forgiveness for those who ascended the mountain that night as if they were the forefront for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions. I passed by them that night two or three times. Then we arrived at Al-Madinah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent his pack with his servant Rabbah, and I was with him. And I left on the horse of Talhah, calling it on its back. When we woke up, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Uwaynah al-Fazzārī had attacked the back of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so everyone attacked him and killed his shepherd.

[Machine] We sent the messenger of Allah ﷺ to the Negus, and we were about eighty men, including Abdullah bin Mas'ood, Ja'far, Abdullah bin Urfutah, Uthman bin Mazh'un, and Abu Musa. They went to the Negus, and Quraysh sent Amr bin al-As and Amarah bin al-Walid with a gift. When they entered upon the Negus, they prostrated to him and then sat on his right and left. They said to him, "Some of our relatives have settled in your land and turned away from us and our religion." He asked, "Where are they?" They replied, "They are in your land, so please send for them." He sent for them, and Ja'far said, "I am your speaker today, so follow me." He greeted the Negus and did not prostrate. They asked him, "Why don't you prostrate to the king?" He replied, "We only prostrate to Allah, the Almighty. He sent His Messenger ﷺ to us and commanded us to prostrate only to Him. He also commanded us to pray and pay zakah." Amr bin al-As said, "But they differ from you regarding Jesus, son of Mary." The Negus asked, "What do you say about Jesus, son of Mary and his mother?" They replied, "We say as Allah, the Almighty, says; Jesus is Allah's word and a spirit from Him. He cast it upon the chaste virgin and she became pregnant without a man touching her, and she did not give birth to a son." He then raised a stick from the ground and said, "O people of Abyssinia, priests, and monks, by Allah, they do not differ from what we say about Jesus. They welcome us and the one who has come with us. I bear witness that he is the Messenger of Allah. He is the one we find in the Injeel (Gospel) and the one whom Jesus, son of Mary, gave glad tidings about. Go wherever you like, for Allah, if it were not for the kingdom that I have, I would go to him, carry his slippers, wash his feet, and bring gifts to him." The Negus returned their gifts to them. Abdullah bin Mas'ood hurried until he reached Badr, claiming that the Prophet ﷺ sought his forgiveness when he heard about his death.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Whenever a group of people gather to mention Allah, the angels surround them, mercy envelops them, tranquility descends upon them, and Allah mentions them among those who are with Him. Allah extends His mercy until the last third of the night, then He descends to the lowest heaven and says: 'Is there anyone seeking forgiveness? Is there anyone asking for repentance? Is there anyone in need? Is there anyone seeking help?' Until dawn."
