أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ «يُقَبِّلُهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to kiss her while he was fasting." Then Muawiyah ibn Salam followed him.  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ «يُقَبِّلُهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ» تَابَعَهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to "kiss her while he was fasting." And this was narrated by Yahya from Abu Salama from Zainab from Umm Salama.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ «يُقَبِّلُهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ» وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ  

[Machine] In the hadith, it was narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to kiss her while he was fasting and it was shortened. Abu Abdur-Rahman said, "This is an error in the narration of Qatadah."  

كَانَ وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «يُقَبِّلُهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ مُخْتَصَرٌ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا خَطَأٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ قَتَادَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ «يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ»  

Hafsa (Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ kissed (his wives) while fasting. (Using translation from Muslim 1107a)   

«قَبَّلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ kissed someone while he was fasting. Abu Qays contradicted them.  

«قَبَّلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ» خَالَفَهُمَا أَبُو قَيْسٍ  

[Machine] 'Amr ibn al-'As sent me to Umm Salamah to ask her, "Would the Messenger of Allah ﷺ kiss her while he was fasting?" She replied, "No." So I said, "Aisha informs that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to kiss her while he was fasting." So I went to her and asked her, and she replied, "No." So I said, "Aisha informs that he used to kiss her while he was fasting." She said, "Perhaps he couldn't control his love for her."  

أَرْسَلَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ إِلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ أَسْأَلُهَا أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ؟ وَقَالَ إِنْ قَالَتْ لَا فَقُلْ لَهَا إِنَّ عَائِشَةَ تُخْبِرُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ «يُقَبِّلُهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ» فَأَتَيْتُهَا فَسَأَلْتُهَا فَقَالَتْ لَا فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ عَائِشَةَ تُخْبِرُ أَنَّهُ «كَانَ يُقَبِّلُهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ» فَقَالَتْ لَعَلَّهُ مَا كَانَ يَتَمَالَكُ عَنْهَا حُبًّا  

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to kiss me when he was fasting and when I was fasting. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2384)  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُقَبِّلُنِي وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَأَنَا صَائِمَةٌ»  

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to kiss me when he was fasting and when I was fasting. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2384)  

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَأَنَا صَائِمَةٌ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not refrain from anything of my face while he was fasting. Abu Abdullah said, "This is an error."  

مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَمْتَنِعُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ مِنْ وَجْهِي وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا خَطَأٌ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never refrained from anything I said while he was fasting.  

مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَمْتَنِعُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ مِنْ وَجْهِي وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to not avoid anything from my face while he was fasting.  

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَا يَمْتَنِعُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ مِنْ وَجْهِي وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to continue fasting and would kiss any place on my face he wished until he broke his fast.  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَظَلُّ صَائِمًا فَيُقَبِّلُ أَيَّ مَكَانٍ شَاءَ مِنْ وَجْهِي حَتَّى يُفْطِرَ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to kiss while he was fasting. Abu Abdur-Rahman said, "This is a mistake that does not involve any stolen item."  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا خَطَأٌ لَيْسَ فِيهِ مَسْرُوقٌ

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَلَكِنْ كَانَ أَمْلَكَ لِإِرْبِهِ»

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ «يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ»  

Hafsa (Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ kissed (his wives) while fasting. (Using translation from Muslim 1107a)  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ»  

[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , used to kiss while fasting. Abu Abdur-Rahman said, 'This is a mistake. We do not know anyone who followed Shu'bah in his narration from Umm Habibah. The correct statement is different from that of Hafsah.'"  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ «يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا خَطَأٌ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا تَابَعَ شُعْبَةَ عَلَى قَوْلِهِ عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ وَالصَّوَابُ شُتَيْرٌ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَيُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَكَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ»

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ «يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , used to kiss and embrace while he was fasting, and he used to engage in sexual relations while he was fasting. He had more self-control than any of you. Is-haq ibn Mansur informed us, he said: Abdur-Rahman informed us, from Shu'bah, from Al-Hakam, from Ibrahim, he said: 'Alqamah and Shurayh bin Arta' came to Aisha, similar to that.  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَيُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَكَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ» 3075 أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ دَخَلَ عَلْقَمَةُ وَشُرَيْحُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ نَحْوَهُ مُرْسَلٌ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ would not refuse my face while he was fasting.  

«مَا كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَمْتَنِعُ مِنْ وَجْهِي وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ»  

The Prophet ﷺ used to kiss (me) during the month of fasting. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2383)   

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «كَانَ يُقَبِّلُ فِي شَهْرِ الصَّوْمِ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to kiss while fasting, and he used to engage in sexual intercourse while fasting. He had the most control over his desires. Abu Abdullah al-Rahman disagreed with him, so the Prophet ﷺ sent him away.  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ» وَيُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَكَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ خَالَفَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ فَأَرْسَلَهُ  

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to kiss and embrace while he was fasting, but he was the one of you who had most control over his desire. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2382)   

عَائِشَةُ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَيُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَكَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ»  

[Machine] A group of people left from the outskirts, including a man named Shurayh who said that Aisha narrated: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to stay with me while he was fasting." A man said, "I had a strong desire to strike my head with a bow." He said, "O people of the outskirts, tell your companion to refrain his bow from me until we come to the mother of the believers." When we came to her, they said to 'Ali, "Ask her (about this)." He said, "I do not permit joking on this day." So, I overheard her (Aisha) saying with a smile, "And what is that?" I said, "I remembered that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to stay with you." She said, "Yes, but he had more control over you (than me) in restraining his desire."  

خَرَجَ نَفَرٌ مِنَ النَّخَعِ فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ يُدْعَى شُرَيْحًا فَحَدَّثَ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَضْرِبَ رَأْسَكَ بِالْقَوْسِ قَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ النَّخَعِ قُولُوا لِصَاحِبِكُمْ فَلْيَكُفَّ قَوْسَهُ عَنِّي حَتَّى نَأْتِيَ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَلَمَّا أَتَيْنَاهَا قَالُوا لِعَلْقَمَةَ سَلْهَا فَقَالَ لَا أَرْفُثُ عِنْدَهَا الْيَوْمَ فَسَمِعَتْهُ فَقَالَتْ وَمَا ذَاكَ؟ قُلْتُ أَذْكَرْتِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُبَاشِرُكِ؟ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ  

[Machine] I heard Ummul Mu'minin Aisha say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to have sexual relations (with his wives) while fasting. So Shurayh, a man from the Nakha'i tribe, said, "I am more inclined to strike you with this bow." The Prophet ﷺ said, "O people of Nakha'i, give permission to your companion (to strike me) so that he can withhold his bow until we return to Ummul Mu'minin Aisha." Then he mentioned a statement that meant we went to Ummul Mu'minin Aisha. Some of us said to her, "Indeed, someone informed us from you that you said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to have sexual relations (with his wives) while fasting." She said, "Yes, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had control over himself more than you."  

سَمِعْتُ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ فَقَالَ شُرَيْحٌ رَجُلٌ مِنَ النَّخَعِ إِنِّي أَهِمُّ أَنْ أَضْرِبَكَ بِهَذَا الْقَوْسِ فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ النَّخَعِ مُرُوا صَاحِبَكُمْ فَيَحْبَسَ قَوْسَهُ حَتَّى نَقْدَمَ عَلَى أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ كَلِمَةً مَعْنَاهَا فَقَدِمْنَا عَلَى أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَ بَعْضُنَا إِنَّ هَذَا أَخْبَرَنَا عَنْكِ أَنَّكِ قُلْتِ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ قَالَتْ أَجَلْ وَلَكِنَّ كَانَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَمْلَكُكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ  

Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to kiss (his wives) while fasting and embraced (them) while fasting; but he had the greatest mastery over his desire among you. (Using translation from Muslim 1106d)   

عَائِشَةُ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَيُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَكَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ»  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to have sexual intercourse while fasting and he was the most capable among you of controlling himself. Sufyan ibn Sa'id disagreed with him and he narrated it from Mansur from Ibrahim from Al-Aswad.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «كَانَ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَكَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ» خَالَفَهُمْ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ فَرَوَاهُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ  

"The Messenger of Allah would fondle me while he was fasting, and he had the most control among you of his limb (li irbihi)." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 728)   

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُبَاشِرُنِي وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ»  

[Machine] Aisha said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to engage in sexual relations while fasting, except that he had more control over his desires than any of you."  

عَائِشَةُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ كَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ»  

"The Messenger of Allah would kiss and fondle while he was fasting, and he had the most control among you of his limbs." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 729)  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ «يُقَبِّلُ وَيُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَكَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ»  

'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to embrace (his wives) while fasting. (Using translation from Muslim 1106f)  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «كَانَ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ»  

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to kiss and embrace while he was fasting, but he was the one of you who had most control over his desire. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2382)  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَيُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ أَمْلَكَ لِإِرْبِهِ مِنْكُمْ»  

[Machine] I left with Masrooq to the mother of the believers, and we asked, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ engage in intercourse while fasting?" She said, "Yes, he used to do so, but he had more self-control than you."  

انْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَمَسْرُوقٌ إِلَى أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَقُلْنَا أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ؟ قَالَتْ «قَدْ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ وَلَكِنَّهُ أَمْلَكُ لِإِرْبِهِ مِنْكُمْ»  

“Al-Aswad and Masruq entered upon ‘Aishah and said: ‘Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ touch (his wife) when he was fasting?’ She said: ‘He used to do that, and he was the strongest of all of you in controlling his desire.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1687)   

دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَمَسْرُوقٌ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَقُلْنَا أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ؟ قَالَتْ «كَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ وَلَكِنْ كَانَ أَمْلَكَ لِإِرْبِهِ مِنْكُمْ»  

[Machine] We asked, "Did the Prophet ﷺ have sexual relations while he was fasting?" She said, "He indeed used to do that, but he had more self-control than any of you."  

قُلْنَا أَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ؟ قَالَتْ «قَدْ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ أَمْلَكَ لِإِرْبِهِ مِنْكُمْ»  

[Machine] I asked Aisha, "Did the Prophet ﷺ have sexual relations while fasting?" She replied, "He used to do that, but he had more control over his desires than any of you."  

سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ أَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ؟ قَالَتْ «قَدْ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ أَمْلَكَ لِإِرْبِهِ مِنْكُمْ»  

[Machine] About al-Aswad and Masrooq, they entered upon the mother of the believers and asked, "Did the Prophet ﷺ engage in sexual intercourse while fasting?" She replied, "Yes, he used to do that."  

عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ وَمَسْرُوقٍ أَنَّهُمَا دَخَلَا عَلَى أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَقَالَا أَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ؟ قَالَتْ قَدْ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ  

[Machine] About Al-Aswad and Masrouq, they said, "We came to Aisha and asked her, 'O Mother of the Believers, did the Prophet ﷺ engage in sexual intercourse while fasting?' She replied, 'Yes, he used to do that, but he had more self-control than any of you.'" Abu Abdur-Rahman narrated this from Al-Muqireh and Hammad, who reported it from Al-Aswad, who narrated it from Aisha.  

عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ وَمَسْرُوقٍ قَالَا أَتَيْنَا عَائِشَةَ فَقُلْنَا يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ؟ قَالَتْ قَدْ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ أَمْلَكَ لِإِرْبِهِ مِنْكُمْ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ رَوَاهُ الْمُغِيرَةُ وَحَمَّادٌ فَقَالَا عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ  

[Machine] I asked Aisha, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ have intimate relations while he was fasting?" She replied, "Yes, but he had control over his desires much more than any of you."  

سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ؟ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ وَلَكِنْ كَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ  

[Machine] I said, "Wasn't the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intimate with his wives even while he was fasting?" She replied, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had more control over his desires than any of you."  

لَا قُلْتُ أَفَلَيْسَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ؟ قَالَتْ «إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ»  

A man came to the Prophet ﷺ during Ramadan in the mosque. He said: Messenger of Allah, I am burnt. The Prophet ﷺ asked him what happened to him. He said: I had sexual intercourse with my wife. He said: Give sadaqah (alms). He said: I swear by Allah, I possess nothing with me, and I cannot do this. He said: Sit down. He sat down. While he was waiting, a man came forward driving his donkey loaded with food. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Where is the man who was burnt just now ? Thereupon the man stood up. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Give it as sadaqah (alms). He asked: Messenger of Allah, to others than us ? By Allah. we are hungry, we have nothing (to eat). He said: Eat it yourselves. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2394)  

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ أَتَى رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ احْتَرَقْتُ احْتَرَقْتُ فَسَأَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَا شَأْنُهُ؟ قَالَ أَصَبْتُ أَهْلِي قَالَ «تَصَدَّقْ» قَالَ وَاللهِ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ مَا لِي شَيْءٌ وَمَا أَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ «اجْلِسْ» فَجَلَسَ فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ أَقْبَلَ رَجُلٌ يَسُوقُ حِمَارًا عَلَيْهِ طَعَامٌ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيْنَ الْمُحْتَرِقُ آنِفًا؟» فَقَامَ الرَّجُلً فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «تَصَدَّقْ بِهَذَا» قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَعَلَى غَيْرِنَا؟ فَوَاللهِ إِنَّا لَجِيَاعٌ مَا لَنَا شَيْءُ قَالَ «كُلُوهُ»  

I am burnt, whereupon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: How is it? He (the person) said: I had intercourse with my wife during the day in Ramadan. Upon this (the Holy Prophet) said: Give charity, give charity. He (the person) said: There is nothing with me. He commanded him to sit down, (In the meanwhile) there were brought to him (to the Holy Prophet) two baskets containing eatables, whereupon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told him to give them as sadaqa. (Using translation from Muslim 1112a)   

إِنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ احْتَرَقْتُ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَطِئْتُ امْرَأَتِي فِي رَمَضَانَ نَهَارًا قَالَ «تَصَدَّقْ تَصَدَّقْ» قَالَ مَا عِنْدِي شَيْءٌ «فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَمْكُثَ فَجَاءَهُ عِرْقٌ فِيهِ طَعَامٌ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَتَصَدَّقَ بِهِ»
