٥۔ كِتَابُ الصِّيَامِ ص ١٢
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wake up in a state of impurity without having a wet dream, then he would observe fasting.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ «يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا مِنْ غَيْرِ احْتِلَامٍ ثُمَّ يَصُومُ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to touch his family at night and then wake up in a state of janabah, so he would perform ghusl and observe fasting.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَمَسُّ أَهْلَهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَيُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا فَيَغْتَسِلُ وَيَصُومُ»
5.138 [Machine] The Mention of the Differences Regarding Aflah Ibn Humaid
٥۔١٣٨ ذِكْرُ الِاخْتِلَافِ عَلَى أَفْلَحَ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ فِيهِ
[Machine] Narrated Aisha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, that the Prophet ﷺ had intimate relations with his wives and then slept without performing ablution until it was morning. Then he performed ablution, prayed, and observed fasting on that day.
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «وَاقَعَ أَهْلَهُ ثُمَّ نَامَ وَلَمْ يَغْتَسِلْ حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ فَاغْتَسَلَ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ صَامَ يَوْمَهُ ذَلِكَ»
[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ had intimate relations with some of his wives, then slept until morning, and then he performed a ritual bath while he was in a state of impurity.
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «أَصَابَ بَعْضَ نِسَائِهِ ثُمَّ نَامَ حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ وَاغْتَسَلَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ»
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was intimate with some of his wives, then he slept until morning, and then he bathed and completed his fast. Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Awwal said: The narration of Ibn Wahb and Hammad ibn Khalid is more correct.
«أَصَابَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بَعْضَ نِسَائِهِ ثُمَّ نَامَ حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ فَاغْتَسَلَ وَأَتَمَّ صَوْمَهُ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَوَّلُ أَوْلَى بِالصَّوَابِ رِوَايَةُ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ وَحَمَّادِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ
[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ had sexual intercourse with some of his wives, then he fell asleep and did not perform ablution until he woke up for Fajr prayer. He then performed ablution, prayed, and completed his fasting."
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «وَاقَعَ بَعْضُ نِسَائِهِ ثُمَّ نَامَ وَلَمْ يَغْتَسِلْ حَتَّى اسْتَيْقَظَ لِلصُّبْحِ فَاغْتَسَلَ وَصَلَّى ثُمَّ أَتَمَّ صِيَامَهُ»
[Machine] Abu Asim Al-Nabeel informed us that I asked him about Hisham from Qais bin Saad from Ata from Aisha, who said that the Prophet (PBUH) used to wake up in a state of janaabah (sexual impurity) and then observed fasting.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ النَّبِيلُ وَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ «يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا ثُمَّ يَصُومُ»
5.139 [Machine] The mention of the hadith of Aisha in it.
٥۔١٣٩ ذِكْرُ حَدِيثِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ فِيهِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wake up in a state of sexual impurity without having a wet dream, and then he would observe fasting on that day.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا مِنْ غَيْرِ احْتِلَامٍ ثُمَّ يَصُومُ يَوْمَهُ ذَلِكَ»
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to wake up in a state of janabah (ritual impurity), without having had a wet dream, and then he would observe fasting. It was narrated by Al-Qasim bin Zakariyya from Husayn, from Zaidah, from Abdulmalik.
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا مِنْ غَيْرِ احْتِلَامٍ ثُمَّ يَصُومُ» رَوَاهُ الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to experience sexual impurity at night while intending to fast. He would sleep and wake up in a state of impurity, so he would pour water over himself and complete his fast.
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «تُصِيبُهُ الْجَنَابَةُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ الصِّيَامَ فَيَنَامُ وَيَسْتَيْقِظُ وَيُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا فَيُفِيضُ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ وَيُتِمُّ صِيَامَهُ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to experience seminal emission during the night while intending to fast. He would sleep, wake up in a state of janabah (ritual impurity), wash himself with water, and complete his fast.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «تُصِيبُهُ الْجَنَابَةُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ الصَّوْمَ فَيَنَامُ وَيَسْتَيْقِظُ وَيُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا فَيُفِيضُ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ وَيُتِمُّ صِيَامَهُ»
5.140 [Machine] The Mention of Differences Regarding Hammad ibn Abi Sulayman in This Hadith
٥۔١٤٠ ذِكْرُ الِاخْتِلَافِ عَلَى حَمَّادِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out one day during Ramadan and his head was dripping with semen, but he continued his fast that day.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «خَرَجَ يَوْمًا فِي رَمَضَانَ وَرَأْسُهُ يَقْطُرُ مِنْ جِمَاعٍ فَمَضَى فِي صَوْمِهِ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ»
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to go out for Fajr prayer and his head would be dripping with water, then he would remain fasting. Abu Abdur-Rahman said: "This narration is more accurate than the narration of Ka'b and Ka'b ibn Abdullah, as we do not know them and their narrations have errors and additions. The narration of Abu Asim and An-Nadr is more reliable, and the narration of An-Nadr is the most accurate, followed by the narration of Mughirah ibn Miqsam."
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «يَخْرُجُ إِلَى الْفَجْرِ وَرَأْسُهُ يَقْطُرُ ثُمَّ يَظَلُّ صَائِمًا» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ «هَذَا أَوْلَى بِالصَّوَابِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ كَعْبٍ وَكَعْبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَلَا نَعْرِفُهُ وَحَدِيثُهُ خَطَأٌ وَزَائِدَةُ أَثْبَتُ مِنْ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ وَمِنَ النَّضْرِ وَحَدِيثُ النَّضْرِ أَوْلَى بِالصَّوَابِ تَابَعَهُ عَلَى هَذِهِ الرِّوَايَةِ مُغِيرَةُ بْنُ مِقْسَمٍ»
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to get up from the dark to perform the Fajr prayer, then he would wash himself and observe fasting. It was narrated by Abu Ishaq from Al-Aswad, from Aisha.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَقُومُ مِنَ الْمِخْضَبِ لِصَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ فَيَغْتَسِلُ ثُمَّ يَصُومُهُ» رَوَاهُ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to go out for the Fajr prayer, and his head would be dripping from the ritual bath of sexual impurity (janaba), then he would fast that day. Abu Abdullah said, and Abu Yunus narrated this from Aisha without mentioning this wording.
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «يَخْرُجُ لِصَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ وَرَأْسُهُ يَقْطُرُ مِنْ غُسْلِ الْجَنَابَةِ ثُمَّ يَصُومُ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ أَبُو يُونُسَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ بِغَيْرِ هَذَا اللَّفْظِ
Messenger of Allah, (the time) of prayer overtakes me as I am in a state of junub; should I observe fast (in this state)? Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: (At times the time) of prayer overtakes me while I am in a state of junub, and I observe fast (in that very state), whereupon he said: Messenger of Allah, you are not like us Allah has pardoned all your sins, the previous ones and the later ones. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) said: By Allah, I hope I am the most God-fearirg of you, and possess the best knowledge among you of those (things) against which I should guard. أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهِيَ تَسْمَعُ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْبَابِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ تُدْرِكُنِي الصَّلَاةُ وَأَنَا جُنُبٌ أَفَأَصُومُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «وَأنا تُدْرِكُنِي الصَّلَاةُ وَأنا جُنُبٌ فَأَصُومُ» قَالَ لَسْتَ مِثْلَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدْ غَفَرَ اللهُ لَكَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ قَالَ «وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ أَكُونَ أَخْشَاكُمْ لِلَّهِ وَأَعْلَمَكُمْ بِمَا أَتَّقِي»
5.141 [Machine] The Mention of the Narration of 'Amir ibn Abi Umayyah from Umm Salamah in it.
٥۔١٤١ ذِكْرُ حَدِيثِ عَامِرِ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فِيهِ
[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ used to wake up in a state of sexual impurity, then he used to observe fast.
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا ثُمَّ يُصْبِحُ صَائِمًا
5.142 [Machine] The bathing of the fasting person.
٥۔١٤٢ اغْتِسَالُ الصَّائِمِ
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to go out for Fajr prayer with his head dripping wet, then he would fast.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ «يَخْرُجُ إِلَى صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ وَرَأْسُهُ يَقْطُرُ ثُمَّ يَصُومُ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to go out for prayer with drops falling from his head while he was in a state of sexual impurity. So, he would perform ritual ablution (ghusl) while intending to fast.
لَقَدْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَخْرُجُ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَرَأْسُهُ يَقْطُرُ كَانَ جُنُبًا فَاغْتَسَلَ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ الصَّوْمَ»
5.143 [Machine] Pouring water on the head of the fasting person.
٥۔١٤٣ صَبُّ الصَّائِمِ الْمَاءَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ
[Machine] From a man of the companions of the Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ, that he saw the Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ fasting while traveling, pouring water on his head due to the intensity of the heat.
عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «صَائِمًا فِي السَّفَرِ يَصُبُّ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ الْمَاءَ مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ»
5.144 [Machine] Siwak for the fasting person in the morning and evening, and the mention of the differences of the narrators of the news about it.
٥۔١٤٤ السِّوَاكُ لِلصَّائِمِ بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ، وَذِكْرُ اخْتِلَافِ النَّاقِلِينَ لِلْخَبَرِ فِيهِ
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were I not afraid that it would be hard on my followers, I would order them to use the siwak (as obligatory, for cleaning the teeth). (Using translation from Bukhārī 7240)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If it was not burdensome for my Ummah (Muslim nation), I would have made using the toothstick obligatory."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ يَثْقُلَ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَفَرَضْتُ السِّوَاكَ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "If it were not difficult for my Ummah (community), I would have made it obligatory for them to use the siwak (toothstick) with every ablution." Hammad said, "I heard it from Ubaidullah bin Umar."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَفَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ السِّوَاكَ مَعَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ» قَالَ حَمَّادٌ وَسَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ
The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ»
The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)
قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»
The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مع الوضوء»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "If it were not difficult for my ummah (community), I would have made it obligatory for them to use the siwak (tooth stick) along with ablution." Abu Abdullah Al-Rahman said: "This is a mistake."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَفَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ السِّوَاكَ مَعَ الْوُضُوءِ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا خَطَأٌ
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If I had not found it hard for my followers or the people, I would have ordered them to clean their teeth with Siwak for every prayer." (Using translation from Bukhārī 887)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ بِوُضُوءٍ وَمَعَ الْوُضُوءِ بِالسِّوَاكِ»
The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "If it were not difficult for my nation, I would have made using the siwak (tooth stick) obligatory upon them before every prayer." Abu Abdur-Rahman reported that Yahya al-Qattan said, "Muhammad ibn Amr is more authentic in hadith than Muhammad ibn Ishaq."
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَفَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ السِّوَاكَ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ كَانَ يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ يَقُولُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو أَصْلَحُ مِنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ
The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were I not afraid that it would be hard on my followers, I would order them to use the siwak (as obligatory, for cleaning the teeth). (Using translation from Bukhārī 7240)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ»
[Machine] "To impose upon his nation the practice of using the siwak with every prayer or every ablution."
أَنْ يُشَقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِهِ لَأَمَرَهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ أَوْ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ»
[Machine] "To ease the burden on his people, he ordered them to use the tooth stick with every prayer or ablution."
أَنْ يُشَقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِهِ لَأَمَرَهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ أَوْ مَعَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ»
"Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to use the Siwak at (the time of) every Salah." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 7)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِتَأْخِيرِ الْعِشَاءِ وَبِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»
5.145 [Machine] The Suhoor for the fasting person
٥۔١٤٥ السَّعُوطُ لِلصَّائِمِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you perform ablution, exaggerate in rinsing your nostrils unless you are fasting."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا تَوَضَّأْتَ فَأَبْلِغْ فِي الِاسْتِنْشَاقِ مَا لَمْ تَكُنْ صَائِمًا»
5.146 [Machine] Mouth rinsing for the fasting person
٥۔١٤٦ الْمَضْمَضَةُ لِلصَّائِمِ
[Machine] I once lost consciousness (or fainted) for a day, and when I woke up, I was fasting. So, I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I did something great while I was fasting." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Did you rinse your mouth with water while fasting?" I replied, "There is no harm in that." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "With what?" Abu 'Abd al-Rahman replied, "This is an unknown hadith, narrated by Bukayr, Mamun, and 'Abd al-Malik ibn Sa'id, but we do not know who said it."
هَشِشْتُ يَوْمًا فَقَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ صَنَعْتُ أَمْرًا عَظِيمًا قَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ تَمَضْمَضْتَ بِمَاءٍ وَأَنْتَ صَائِمٌ؟» فَقُلْتُ لَا بَأْسَ بِذَلِكَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَفِيمَ؟» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ «وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ مُنْكَرٌ وَبُكَيْرٌ مَأْمُونٌ وَعَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ رَوَاهُ عَنْهُ غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ وَلَا نَدْرِي مِمَّنْ هَذَا»
5.147 [Machine] The gap of the fasting person's mouth.
٥۔١٤٧ خُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the odor of the breath of a fasting person is more pleasant to Allah on the Day of Resurrection than the fragrance of musk."

٥۔١٤٨ قُبْلَةُ الصَّائِمِينَ
[Machine] I desire that the Prophet ﷺ kisses me, so I said, "I am fasting." He then said, "And I am fasting." And he kissed me.
أَهْوَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لِيُقَبِّلَنِي فَقُلْتُ إِنِّي صَائِمَةٌ فَقَالَ «وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ» فَقَبَّلَنِي

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «كَانَ يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ»
I said to 'Abd al-Rahman b. Qasim: Have you heard from your father narrating from 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) that he kissed her while observing fast? He ('Abd al-Rahman b. Qasim) kept silence for a short while and then said:" Yes." (Using translation from Muslim 1106b)
