[Machine] I once lost consciousness (or fainted) for a day, and when I woke up, I was fasting. So, I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I did something great while I was fasting." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Did you rinse your mouth with water while fasting?" I replied, "There is no harm in that." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "With what?" Abu 'Abd al-Rahman replied, "This is an unknown hadith, narrated by Bukayr, Mamun, and 'Abd al-Malik ibn Sa'id, but we do not know who said it."

الكبرى للنسائي:٣٠٣٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ عُمَرَ قَالَ

هَشِشْتُ يَوْمًا فَقَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ صَنَعْتُ أَمْرًا عَظِيمًا قَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ تَمَضْمَضْتَ بِمَاءٍ وَأَنْتَ صَائِمٌ؟» فَقُلْتُ لَا بَأْسَ بِذَلِكَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَفِيمَ؟» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ «وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ مُنْكَرٌ وَبُكَيْرٌ مَأْمُونٌ وَعَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ رَوَاهُ عَنْهُ غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ وَلَا نَدْرِي مِمَّنْ هَذَا»

He said: What do you think if you rinse your mouth with water while you are fasting. The narrator Isa ibn Hammad said in his version: I said to him: There is no harm in it. Then both of them agreed on the version: He said: Then what?

أبو داود:٢٣٨٥ – حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ

عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ هَشِشْتُ فَقَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَنَعْتُ الْيَوْمَ أَمْرًا عَظِيمًا قَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ مَضْمَضْتَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ وَأَنْتَ صَائِمٌ قَالَ عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قُلْتُ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ ثُمَّ اتَّفَقَا قَالَ فَمَهْ

I was in good spirits one day and kissed (my wife) when I was fasting. I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: I have done something serious. I kissed (my wife) when I was fasting. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “What do you think if you rinse your mouth with water when you are fasting?ʿ I said: There is nothing wrong with it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Then why (are you worried)?ʿ
