5. Fasting
[Machine] I passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the eighteenth night of Ramadan and saw a man shaving his head. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The one who shaves and the one who has his head shaved have both broken their fast." Zaidah followed him.
[Machine] While I was walking with the Prophet ﷺ, we passed by a man who was undergoing cupping during Ramadan. The Prophet ﷺ said, "The one who undergoes cupping and the one who performs it both break their fast." Hisham, Shu'bah, and Sufyan ibn Habib contradicted this statement.
[Machine] One morning, on the eighteenth day of Ramadan, the Prophet ﷺ was holding my hand when suddenly he noticed a man with disheveled hair. He said, "The one with disheveled hair and unkempt beard has broken his fast."
The Prophet ﷺ as saying: A man who cups and a man who gets himself cupped break their fast. Abu Dawud said: Ibn Thawban transmitted a similar tradition from his father on the authority of Makhul through an chain of narrators mentioned by him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2371)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a man who was abstaining from fasting in Ramadan, so he said, "The one who unnecessarily abstains and the one who forcibly refrains from fasting have both broken their fasts."
