54. Tafsīr (Exegesis) (8/15)
[Machine] About the Prophet SAW, regarding a state of negligence, he said, "In this world."
That one day Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her in a state of fear and said, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah! Woe to the Arabs from the Great evil that has approached (them). Today a hole has been opened in the dam of Gog and Magog like this." The Prophet ﷺ made a circle with his index finger and thumb. Zainab bint Jahsh added: I said, "O Alllah's Apostle! Shall we be destroyed though there will be righteous people among us?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Yes, if the (number) of evil (persons) increased." (Using translation from Bukhārī 7135)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Verily, Ya'juj and Ma'juj have women who engage in sexual relations with whomever they desire, and they have a plant that pollinates whatever they desire. No man among them would die without leaving behind a thousand offspring or more."
The Prophet ﷺ has a secretary named Sijill. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2935)
[Machine] He used to say about this verse {On the day We will fold the heaven like the folding of a written sheet} [Surah Al-Anbiya' 104], he said "The written sheet refers to a man."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon and said, "O people, you will be gathered before your Lord, barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised." Then he recited this verse, "As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it." [Quran 21:104] until the end of the verse. And indeed, the first to be clothed among the creations is Prophet Ibrahim ﷺ . And it will be said that people from my nation will be brought before me, and they will be taken with the left hand. So I will say, "O Lord, these are my companions." And He will say, "You do not know what they have innovated after you." So I will say, like the righteous servant said, "If You punish them, indeed they are Your servants, and if You forgive them, indeed You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise." [Quran 5:118] Then it will be said, "They have continuously turned back on their heels since you left them."
"Allah, the Mighty and Sublinm, says: 'The son of Adam denied Me and he had no right to do so. and the son of Adam reviled Me and he had no right to do so. As for his denying Me, It is his saying that I will not resurrect him as I created him in the beginning, but resurrecting him is not more difficult for Me than creating him in the first place. And as for his reviling Me, it is his saying that Allah has taken a son, but I am Allah, the One, the Self-Sufficient Master, I beget not nor was I begotten, and there is none co-equal or comparable unto Me."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2078)
54.22 Sūrat al-Ḥajj
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, will say to Adam on the Day of Resurrection, "O Adam, rise up and send forth from your progeny a group to Hellfire." Adam will say, "O Lord, who are the people of Hellfire?" Allah will say, "From every thousand, take nine hundred and ninety-nine and send them to Hellfire, and keep one. At that time, the young will grow old, and every pregnant one will drop her load. And you will see people intoxicated, while they are not intoxicated, but the punishment of Allah is severe." So, this will be difficult for his followers, and they will say, "O Messenger of Allah, from every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine are taken and only one is left. Where will that one be?" He will enter his house, and then come out to them and say, "From Gog and Magog, one thousand, and from you, only one. So, rejoice, for I hope that you will be one-fourth of the people of Paradise." They will say the takbir and praise Allah. He will say, "I hope that you will be one-third of the people of Paradise." They will say the takbir and praise Allah. He will say, "I hope that you will be one-half of the people of Paradise." They will say the takbir and praise Allah. He will say, "You people are like a white hair on the black ox or a black hair on the white ox among the nations (i.e., you are few compared to other nations).
"We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey when some of his Companions fell behind. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his voice reciting these two Ayat: "O mankind! Have Taqwa of your Lord! Verily the earthquake of the hour is a terrible thing..." up to His saying: but Allah's torment is severe (21:1 & 2)." When his Companions heard that, they hastened to catch up with him, since they knew that he had something to say. He ﷺ said: 'Do you know what Day this is? That is the Day when Adam will be called. His Lord will call him and say: O Adam, send forth those who are to be sent to the Fire. He will say: O Lord! How many are to be sent to the Fire? He will say: From every one-thousand there are nine-hundred and ninety-nine for the Fire and one for Paradise. So the people despaired as if they would not smile again. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the state of his Companions, he said: 'Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, you will be counted with two creations who are immense in numbers; Ya'juj and Ma'juj, and those who have died among the progeny of Adam and the progeny of Iblis.'" He said: "So some of the people's grief went away, and he ﷺ said: 'Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! Among mankind, you are but like the mole on the flank of a camel, or a mark on the foreleg of a beast.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3169)
[Machine] I heard Abu Dharr swearing that this verse was revealed: "These two opponents are disputing with each other about their Lord." [Surah Al-Hajj, 22:19] It refers to Ali, Hamza, Ubaid ibn Harith, Shaybah ibn Rabiah, Utbah ibn Rabiah, and Al-Walid ibn Utbah. They were involved in a dispute on the day of Badr, which was opposed by Sulayman At-Taymi.
[Machine] This verse descended upon us on the day of Badr, "These two opponents have disputed regarding their Lord." [Surah Al-Hajj 19]
I heard ‘Abdullah bin az-Zubair say: Do not let your women wear silk, for I heard ʿUmar narrate from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: ʿWhoever wears silk in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter.ʿ And ʿAbdullah bin az-Zubair added his own words: And whoever does not wear it in the Hereafter will not enter Paradise. Allah says: “and their garments therein will be of silkʿ [Fatir 35:33]. (Using translation from Aḥmad 251)
I heard Ibn Az-Zubair delivering a sermon, saying, "Muhammad said, 'Whoever wears silk in this world, shall not wear it in the Hereafter." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5833)
“When the Prophet was expelled from Makkah, Abu Bakr said to him: ‘They have driven out their Prophet, verily to Allah we belong and to Him we return. They are surely doomed.’ Then it was revealed: ‘Permission to fight (against disbelievers) is given to those (believers) who are fought against, because they have been wronged; and surely, Allah is able to give them (believers) victory.’ Then I knew that there would be fighting.” Ibn Abbas said: “This is the first Verse that was revealed concerning fighting.” (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3085)
[Machine] Narrated Aisha, "Permission was granted to those who are being fought against [to fight] because they have been wronged, and indeed Allah is competent to give them victory." [Surah Al-Hajj 22:39] until His saying, "Indeed Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might." [Surah Al-Hajj 22:40] Then permission to fight was given in many verses of the Quran.
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , that he said, "The best [mode of] transportation that one can ride upon is to my mosque and the ancient house [i.e. the Kaaba]."
"The poor Muslims are admitted into Paradise before their rich by half a day. And that is five hundred years." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2354)
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "Whoever invokes the way of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance), then he will be from the inhabitants of Hellfire." A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah, even if he fasts and prays?" He replied, "Yes, even if he fasts and prays. So invoke with the supplication of Allah that He named you Muslims, believers, the servants of Allah."
54.23 Sūrat al-Muʾminūn
[Machine] We asked Aisha, "O Mother of the Believers, what was the character of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" She said, "The character of the Messenger of Allah was the Quran." Then she recited, "The believers have certainly succeeded" [Surah Al-Mu'minun, verse 1] until she finished reciting "And they who are observant of their prayer" [Surah Al-Mu'minun, verse 9]. She said, "This is how the character of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was."
[Machine] The Samiri was only disliked when this verse was revealed "They turned away arrogantly saying 'We are the people of Samiri'" (Al-Mu'minun 67). It is said that they used to show arrogance and disrespect towards the Kaaba, and they would burn it and abandon it.
[Machine] Abu Sufyan came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Muhammad, I swear to Allah and the Most Merciful, we have eaten Al-'Ilhiz, meaning the part of an animal that is tender and delicious (the meat and blood). So Allah revealed {And We certainly seized them with punishment, but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate} [Surah Al-Mu'minun, verse 76].
[Machine] In his saying, "In the punishment, when they cry for help, do not cry for help today. Indeed, you will not be helped by us" [Al-Muminoon 65], he said, "They are the people of Badr." Hamza bin Muhammad said, Muhammad bin Ja'far bin Imam told us, Ali bin Madini told me with a similar chain of narration.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {اخْسَئُوا فِيهَا}
When Khaibar was conquered, a roasted poisoned sheep was presented to the Prophet ﷺ as a gift (by the Jews). The Prophet ﷺ ordered, "Let all the Jews who have been here, be assembled before me." The Jews were collected and the Prophet ﷺ said (to them), "I am going to ask you a question. Will you tell the truth?" They said, "Yes." The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Who is your father?" They replied, "So-and-so." He said, "You have told a lie; your father is so-and-so." They said, "You are right." He said, "Will you now tell me the truth, if I ask you about something?" They replied, "Yes, O Abu Al-Qasim; and if we should tell a lie, you can realize our lie as you have done regarding our father." On that he asked, "Who are the people of the (Hell) Fire?" They said, "We shall remain in the (Hell) Fire for a short period, and after that you will replace us." The Prophet ﷺ said, "You may be cursed and humiliated in it! By Allah, we shall never replace you in it." Then he asked, "Will you now tell me the truth if I ask you a question?" They said, "Yes, O Abu Al-Qasim." He asked, "Have you poisoned this sheep?" They said, "Yes." He asked, "What made you do so?" They said, "We wanted to know if you were a liar in which case we would get rid of you, and if you are a prophet then the poison would not harm you." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3169)

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {الزَّانِيَةُ وَالزَّانِي فَاجْلِدُوا كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا مِائَةَ جَلْدَةٍ}
A bedouin came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Allah's apostle! I ask you by Allah to judge My case according to Allah's Laws." His opponent, who was more learned than he, said, "Yes, judge between us according to Allah's Laws, and allow me to speak." Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Speak." He (i .e. the bedouin or the other man) said, "My son was working as a laborer for this (man) and he committed illegal sexual intercourse with his wife. The people told me that it was obligatory that my son should be stoned to death, so in lieu of that I ransomed my son by paying one hundred sheep and a slave girl. Then I asked the religious scholars about it, and they informed me that my son must be lashed one hundred lashes, and be exiled for one year, and the wife of this (man) must be stoned to death." Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, I will judge between you according to Allah's Laws. The slave-girl and the sheep are to be returned to you, your son is to receive a hundred lashes and be exiled for one year. You, Unais, go to the wife of this (man) and if she confesses her guilt, stone her to death." Unais went to that woman next morning and she confessed. Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that she be stoned to death. (Using translation from Bukhārī 2724)

"I was asked about those who were involved in the case of Li'an and if they are to be separated, during the leadership of Mus'ab bin Az-Zubair. I did not know what to say. So I went to the house of Abdullah bin Umar and I sought permission to enter. I was told that he was taking a nap, but he heard me talking and he said: 'Is it Ibn Jubair? Enter. You would not have come except for a need.'"He said: "So I entered and found him lying on a saddlecloth from his mount. I said: 'O Abu Abdur-Rahman! Are those involved in Li'an separated?' He said: 'Glorious is Allah! Yes. The first who asked about that was so-and-so the son of so-and-so. He came to the Prophet and said: "O Messenger of Allah! If one of us saw his wife committing adultery what should he do? If he were to say anything, his statement would be a horrible matter, and if he were to remain silent, his silence about the matter would be horrible." "He said: 'So the Prophet remained silent and did not answer him. Afterwards he came to the Prophet and said: "The one who asked you about it has been tried by it." So Allah revealed these Ayat from Surat An-Nur. And those who accuse their wives and have no witnesses except themselves - until the end of those Ayat. So he called for the man and recited the Ayat to him and admonished him, reminded him, and he told him: "Indeed the punishment of the world is less than the punishment of the Hereafter." So he said: "Nay! By the One Who sent you with the truth! I did not lie about her." Then he did the same with the woman, admonished her and reminding her and he told her: "Indeed the punishment of the world is less than the punishment of the Hereafter." She said: "Nay! By the One Who sent you with the truth! He is not telling the truth.'" "He said: 'So he started with the man: He testified four times, by Allah that he is one of the truthful, and the fifth time that the curse of Allah be upon him if he was one of the liars. Then the same with the woman: She testified four times by Allah, that he was one of the liars, and the fifth time that the wrath of Allah be upon her if he was one of the truthful. Then he separated the two of them.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1202)

[Machine] Glory be to Allah. Yes, a man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, what should a person do if he sees his wife engaging in immorality?" The Messenger of Allah remained silent and did not answer him. Then he came to him again and said, "I have been tested with this, O Messenger of Allah." So Allah revealed these verses from Surah An-Nur, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called the man and he testified four times by Allah that he is telling the truth, and the fifth time that the curse of Allah be upon him if he is lying. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called the woman and she testified four times by Allah that she is lying, and the fifth time that the anger of Allah be upon her if she is telling the truth. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ separated between them.

[Machine] She is called Umm Mahzul and she used to have camels and used to travel. A man from the companions of the Prophet (PBUH) wanted to marry her, so Allah revealed: "And the fornicatress—none marries her except a fornicator or a polytheist—and that has been made unlawful to the believers." (Surah An-Nur 3)

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ جَاءُوا بِالْإِفْكِ عُصْبَةٌ مِنْكُمْ}
(the wife of the Prophet) "Whenever Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to go on a journey, he would draw lots amongst his wives and would take with him the one upon whom the lot fell. During a Ghazwa of his, he drew lots amongst us and the lot fell upon me, and I proceeded with him after Allah had decreed the use of the veil by women. I was carried in a Howdah (on the camel) and dismounted while still in it. When Messenger of Allah ﷺ was through with his Ghazwa and returned home, and we approached the city of Medina, Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to proceed at night. When the order of setting off was given, I walked till I was past the army to answer the call of nature. After finishing I returned (to the camp) to depart (with the others) and suddenly realized that my necklace over my chest was missing. So, I returned to look for it and was delayed because of that. The people who used to carry me on the camel, came to my Howdah and put it on the back of the camel, thinking that I was in it, as, at that time, women were light in weight, and thin and lean, and did not use to eat much. So, those people did not feel the difference in the heaviness of the Howdah while lifting it, and they put it over the camel. At that time I was a young lady. They set the camel moving and proceeded on. I found my necklace after the army had gone, and came to their camp to find nobody. So, I went to the place where I used to stay, thinking that they would discover my absence and come back in my search. While in that state, I felt sleepy and slept. Safwan bin Mu'attal As-Sulami Adh-Dhakwani was behind the army and reached my abode in the morning. When he saw a sleeping person, he came to me, and he used to see me before veiling. So, I got up when I heard him saying, "Inna lil-lah-wa inn a ilaihi rajiun (We are for Allah, and we will return to Him)." He made his camel knell down. He got down from his camel, and put his leg on the front legs of the camel and then I rode and sat over it. Safwan set out walking, leading the camel by the rope till we reached the army who had halted to take rest at midday. Then whoever was meant for destruction, fell into destruction, (some people accused me falsely) and the leader of the false accusers was ʿAbdullah bin Ubai bin Salul. After that we returned to Medina, and I became ill for one month while the people were spreading the forged statements of the false accusers. I was feeling during my ailment as if I were not receiving the usual kindness from the Prophet ﷺ which I used to receive from him when I got sick. But he would come, greet and say, 'How is that (girl)?' I did not know anything of what was going on till I recovered from my ailment and went out with Um Mistah to the Manasi where we used to answer the call of nature, and we used not to go to answer the call of nature except from night to night and that was before we had lavatories near to our houses. And this habit of ours was similar to the habit of the old 'Arabs in the open country (or away from houses). So. I and Um Mistah bint Ruhm went out walking. Um Mistah stumbled because of her long dress and on that she said, 'Let Mistah be ruined.' I said, 'You are saying a bad word. Why are you abusing a man who took part in (the battle of) Badr?' She said, 'O Hanata (you there) didn't you hear what they said?' Then she told me the rumors of the false accusers. My sickness was aggravated, and when I returned home, Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me, and after greeting he said, 'How is that (girl)?' I requested him to allow me to go to my parents. I wanted then to be sure of the news through them I Messenger of Allah ﷺ allowed me, and I went to my parents and asked my mother, 'What are the people talking about?' She said, 'O my daughter! Don't worry much about this matter. By Allah, never is there a charming woman loved by her husband who has other wives, but the women would forge false news about her.' I said, 'Glorified be Allah! Are the people really taking of this matter?' That night I kept on weeping and could not sleep till morning. In the morning Messenger of Allah ﷺ called ʿAli bin Abu Talib and Usama bin Zaid when he saw the Divine Inspiration delayed, to consul them about divorcing his wife (i.e. ʿAisha). Usama bin Zaid said what he knew of the good reputation of his wives and added, 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Keep you wife, for, by Allah, we know nothing about her but good.' ʿAli bin Abu Talib said, 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Allah has no imposed restrictions on you, and there are many women other than she, yet you may ask the woman-servant who will tell you the truth.' On that Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Barirah and said, 'O Barirah. Did you ever see anything which roused your suspicions about her?' Barirah said, 'No, by Allah Who has sent you with the Truth, I have never seen in her anything faulty except that she is a girl of immature age, who sometimes sleeps and leaves the dough for the goats to eat.' On that day Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended the pulpit and requested that somebody support him in punishing ʿAbdullah bin Ubai bin Salul. Allah's Apostle said, 'Who will support me to punish that person (ʿAbdullah bin Ubai bin Salul) who has hurt me by slandering the reputation of my family? By Allah, I know nothing about my family but good, and they have accused a person about whom I know nothing except good, and he never entered my house except in my company.' Saʿd bin Muʿadh got up and said, 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! by Allah, I will relieve you from him. If that man is from the tribe of the Aus, then we will chop his head off, and if he is from our brothers, the Khazraj, then order us, and we will fulfill your order.' On that Saʿd bin 'Ubada, the chief of the Khazraj and before this incident, he had been a pious man, got up, motivated by his zeal for his tribe and said, 'By Allah, you have told a lie; you cannot kill him, and you will never be able to kill him.' On that Usaid bin Al-Hadir got up and said (to Saʿd bin 'Ubada), 'By Allah! you are a liar. By Allah, we will kill him; and you are a hypocrite, defending the hypocrites.' On this the two tribes of Aus and Khazraj got excited and were about to fight each other, while Messenger of Allah ﷺ was standing on the pulpit. He got down and quieted them till they became silent and he kept quiet. On that day I kept on weeping so much so that neither did my tears stop, nor could I sleep. In the morning my parents were with me and I had wept for two nights and a day, till I thought my liver would burst from weeping. While they were sitting with me and I was weeping, an Ansari woman asked my permission to enter, and I allowed her to come in. She sat down and started weeping with me. While we were in this state, Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and sat down and he had never sat with me since the day they forged the accusation. No revelation regarding my case came to him for a month. He recited Tashah-hud (i.e. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is His Apostle) and then said, 'O ʿAisha! I have been informed such-and-such about you; if you are innocent, then Allah will soon reveal your innocence, and if you have committed a sin, then repent to Allah and ask Him to forgive you, for when a person confesses his sin and asks Allah for forgiveness, Allah accepts his repentance.' When Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his speech my tears ceased completely and there remained not even a single drop of it. I requested my father to reply to Messenger of Allah ﷺ on my behalf. My father said, By Allah, I do not know what to say to Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' I said to my mother, 'Talk to Messenger of Allah ﷺ on my behalf.' She said, 'By Allah, I do not know what to say to Allah's Apostle. I was a young girl and did not have much knowledge of the Qur'an. I said. 'I know, by Allah, that you have listened to what people are saying and that has been planted in your minds and you have taken it as a truth. Now, if I told you that I am innocent and Allah knows that I am innocent, you would not believe me and if I confessed to you falsely that I am guilty, and Allah knows that I am innocent you would believe me. By Allah, I don't compare my situation with you except to the situation of Joseph's father (i.e. Jacob) who said, 'So (for me) patience is most fitting against that which you assert and it is Allah (Alone) whose help can be sought.' Then I turned to the other side of my bed hoping that Allah would prove my innocence. By Allah I never thought that Allah would reveal Divine Inspiration in my case, as I considered myself too inferior to be talked of in the Holy Qur'an. I had hoped that Messenger of Allah ﷺ might have a dream in which Allah would prove my innocence. By Allah, Allah's Apostle had not got up and nobody had left the house before the Divine Inspiration came to Allah's Apostle. So, there overtook him the same state which used to overtake him, (when he used to have, on being inspired divinely). He was sweating so much so that the drops of the sweat were dropping like pearls though it was a (cold) wintry day. When that state of Messenger of Allah ﷺ was over, he was smiling and the first word he said, ʿAisha! Thank Allah, for Allah has declared your innocence.' My mother told me to go to Messenger of Allah ﷺ . I replied, 'By Allah I will not go to him and will not thank but Allah.' So Allah revealed: "Verily! They who spread the slander are a gang among you . . ." (24.11) When Allah gave the declaration of my Innocence, Abu Bakr, who used to provide for Mistah bin Uthatha for he was his relative, said, 'By Allah, I will never provide Mistah with anything because of what he said about Aisha.' But Allah later revealed: -- "And let not those who are good and wealthy among you swear not to help their kinsmen, those in need and those who left their homes in Allah's Cause. Let them forgive and overlook. Do you not wish that Allah should forgive you? Verily! Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful." (24.22) After that Abu Bakr said, 'Yes ! By Allah! I like that Allah should forgive me,' and resumed helping Mistah whom he used to help before. Messenger of Allah ﷺ also asked Zainab bint Jahsh (i.e. the Prophet's wife about me saying, 'What do you know and what did you see?' She replied, 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! I refrain to claim hearing or seeing what I have not heard or seen. By Allah, I know nothing except goodness about Aisha." Aisha further added "Zainab was competing with me (in her beauty and the Prophet's love), yet Allah protected her (from being malicious), for she had piety." (Using translation from Bukhārī 2661)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: Refrain from seven (characteristics) which cause destruction. He was asked: What are they, Messenger of Allah ? He replied: To assign partner to Allah, magic, to kill a soul (man) which is prohibited by Allah except for which is due, to take usury, to consume the property of an orphan, to retreat on the day of the battle, and to slander chaste women, indiscreet but believing. Abu Dawud said: The name Abu al-Ghaith is Salim client of Ibn Muti'. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2874)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ once went out in the afternoon and found them talking in their gatherings at the doors of their houses. He said, "What are these gatherings? It is better for you to sit in these elevated places." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we sit in places where there is no harm. We gather inside our homes, then we come out and talk." He said, "Then give these gatherings their rights." They asked, "And what are their rights, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Lowering the gaze, speaking kindly, returning greetings, and guiding the lost."

54.25 Sūrat al-Furqān
I heard Hisham b. Hakim (b. Hizam) reciting Surah al-Furqan in a different manner from my way of reciting, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had taught me to recite it. I nearly spoke sharply to him, but I delayed till he had finished. Then I caught his cloak at the neck, and I brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: Messenger of Allah, I heard this man reciting Surah al-Furqan in a manner different from that in which you taught me to recite it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ the told him to recite it. He then recited in the manner I heard him recite. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Thus was it sent down. He then said to me: Recite, I recited (it). He then said: Thus was it sent down. He said: The Qur'an was sent down in seven modes of reading, so recite according to what comes most easily. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1475)

Hamza said, "This means do not commit adultery and do not steal."

‘Abd Allaah (bin Masud) said “I asked Apostle of Allaah ﷺ which sin is the gravest?” He replied “That you associate someone with Allaah, while He has created you”. I again asked “Which then?” He replied “That you commit adultery with the wife of your neighbor.” Allaah then revealed the following Qur’anic verse in support of the statement of the Prophet ﷺ “Those who invoke not with Allaah any other god nor slay such life as Allaah has made sacred except for just cause nor commit fornication.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2310)

We were sitting in the shade of the chamber of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ discussing (something) and when we mentioned the last hour, our voices rose high. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The last hour will not come or happen until there appear ten signs before it : the rising of the sun in its place of setting, the coming forth of the beast, the coming forth of Gog and Magog, the Dajjal (Antichrist), (the descent of) Jesus son of Mary, the smoke, and three collapses of the earth: one in the west, one in the east, and one in the Arabian Peninsula. The last of that will be the emergence of a fire from Yemen, from the lowest part of Aden, and drive mankind to their place of assembly. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4311)
