61. Sacrificial Animals
We chased a rabbit at Mar-al-Zahran and the people ran after it but were exhausted. I overpowered and caught it, and gave it to Abu Talha who slaughtered it and sent its hip or two thighs to Allah's Apostle. (The narrator confirms that he sent two thighs). The Prophet ﷺ accepted that. (The sub-narrator asked Anas, "Did the Prophet; eat from it?" Anas replied, "He ate from it.") (Using translation from Bukhārī 2572)
[Machine] I heard Anas bin Malik say, "We came across a rabbit while passing by Al-Zhuhran. The people rushed towards it, but I managed to catch it. I brought it to Abu Talhah and he slaughtered it. He then sent its forelegs and thighs to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he accepted them."
[Machine] He caught two rabbits but did not find a knife to slaughter them with, so he slaughtered them with a stick. He then went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him about it, so he commanded him to eat them.
[Machine] "He hunted a rabbit and slaughtered it with a blade, then he went to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned it to him, so the Prophet commanded him to eat it. Dawud bin Abi Hind narrated this from Ash-Sha'bi from Muhammad bin Safwan."
[Machine] It passed by the Prophet ﷺ with two rabbits, so he hung them up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I hunted these two rabbits but I did not find a knife to slaughter them with, so I slaughtered them with a piece of wood. Can I eat them?" He said, "Eat." This narration was reported by Al-Bukhari, according to Al-Sha'bi from Jabir bin Abdullah, and the narration of Ibn Safwan is the most authentic according to Al-Bukhari.
[Machine] A boy from his people caught a rabbit and slaughtered it using a rock. He hung it up and asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about eating it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed him to eat it. It is also narrated by 'Umar ibn 'Amir from Qatadah in a similar manner, and Hammam reported it from Qatadah.
[Machine] A boy from the Banu Hashim came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a rabbit and recited it. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, I entered Uhud and I caught this rabbit, but I did not find anything to slaughter it with, so I throttled it with a necktie." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Consume it all."
[Machine] A Bedouin gave the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ a roasted rabbit. He ordered us to eat it, but he himself did not eat it. A man separated himself and did not eat, so they asked him why. He said, "I am fasting." They asked, "What kind of fast?" He replied, "Fasting three days of each month." The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Couldn't you have made it white?" The Bedouin replied, "I saw blood in it." The Prophet ﷺ said, "It does not affect it. " He then said, "Narrated to us Abu Yahya from Talhah bin Yahya from Musa similar to him, except that the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Couldn't you have made it white?' Thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen." And Abu Bakr bin Foorak informed us, reporting from Abdullah bin Jafar that Yunus bin Habib narrated from Abu Dawud who narrated from Al-Masoodi, who narrated from Hakim bin Jubair who narrated from Musa bin Talhah who said, "Umar bin Khattab brought a rabbit. He mentioned the meaning of this story but did not mention the question about anyone other than Ammar." And Abu Hassan Al-Muqri informed us, reporting from Hassan bin Muhammad bin Ishaq who narrated from Yusuf bin Ya'qub who narrated from Uthman bin Abi Shaybah, who narrated from Husayn bin Ali who narrated from Zaidah bin Qudamah, who narrated from Hakim bin Jubair who narrated from Musa bin Talhah who said, "Umar said to Abu Dhar, Ammar, and Abu Darda, 'Do you remember the day we were with the Prophet ﷺ in a certain place, and a Bedouin came to him with a rabbit and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I saw blood in it." He ordered us to eat it, but he himself did not eat it?' They replied, 'Yes.' Then he said to him, 'Come closer and feed him.' He said, 'I am fasting.' And he did not mention Ibn Al-Hawtakiyah in his chain of narration."

[Machine] It was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I was sitting, but he did not eat it and he did not forbid it from being eaten, and he claimed that it is menstruating.
