[Machine] I heard Anas bin Malik say, "We came across a rabbit while passing by Al-Zhuhran. The people rushed towards it, but I managed to catch it. I brought it to Abu Talhah and he slaughtered it. He then sent its forelegs and thighs to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he accepted them."  

البيهقي:١٩٣٩٣ – وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو النَّضْرِ الْفَقِيهُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ؓ يَقُولُ أَنْفَجْنَا أَرْنَبًا وَنَحْنُ بِمَرِّ الظَّهْرَانِ فَسَعَى الْقَوْمُ فَلَغَبُوا فَأَخَذْتُهَا فَجِئْتُ بِهَا إِلَى أَبِي طَلْحَةَ فَذَبَحَهَا وَبَعَثَ بِوَرِكَيْهَا وَفَخِذَيْهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَبِلَهَا

Once we provoked a rabbit at Marr-az-Zahran. The people chased it till they got tired. Then I caught It and brought it to Abu Talha, who slaughtered it and then sent both its pelvic pieces (or legs) to the Prophet, and the Prophet ﷺ accepted the present.  

البخاري:٥٥٣٥ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ قَالَ

أَنْفَجْنَا أَرْنَبًا وَنَحْنُ بِمَرِّ الظَّهْرَانِ فَسَعَى الْقَوْمُ فَلَغَبُوا فَأَخَذْتُهَا فَجِئْتُ بِهَا إِلَى أَبِي طَلْحَةَ فَذَبَحَهَا فَبَعَثَ بِوَرِكَيْهَا أَوْ قَالَ بِفَخِذَيْهَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَبِلَهَا

"I heard Anas saying: 'Once we provoked a rabbit at Marr Az-Zahran. So the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rushed after it, and I caught up to it and captured it. I brought it to Abu Talhah who slaughtered it with Marwah. He sent me with its legs - or its thighs - to the Prophet ﷺ so he could eat it.'" He (Hisham) said: "I said: 'He ate it?' He said:'He accepted it.'"  

[Abu 'Eisa said:] There are narrations on this topic from Jubair, 'Ammar, Muhammad bin Safwan, and they say: Muhammad bin Saifi. This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. This is acted upon according to the people of knowledge. They saw no harm in eating rabbit. Some of the people of knowledge disliked eating rabbit, they said that it menstruates.
الترمذي:١٧٨٩ – حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ أَنْفَجْنَا أَرْنَبًا بِمَرِّ الظَّهْرَانِ فَسَعَى أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ خَلْفَهَا فَأَدْرَكْتُهَا فَأَخَذْتُهَا فَأَتَيْتُ بِهَا أَبَا طَلْحَةَ فَذَبَحَهَا بِمَرْوَةٍ فَبَعَثَ مَعِي بِفَخِذِهَا أَوْ بِوَرِكِهَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَكَلَهُ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَكَلَهُ قَالَ قَبِلَهُ  

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ وَعَمَّارٍ وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ وَيُقَالُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَيْفِيٍّ وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَكْثَرِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ لاَ يَرَوْنَ بِأَكْلِ الأَرْنَبِ بَأْسًا وَقَدْ كَرِهَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ أَكْلَ الأَرْنَبِ وَقَالُوا إِنَّهَا تَدْمِي

[Machine] He informed me, he said, "I heard Anas ibn Malik say, 'We captured a rabbit while we were passing by Aldhahran. The people rushed and scared it away, but I caught it and brought it to Abu Talha. He slaughtered it and sent its forelegs or hindlegs as a gift to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ .' So he accepted it."  

الدارمي:٢٠٥٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ هِشَامُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ

أَخْبَرَنِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ أَنْفَجْنَا أَرْنَبًا وَنَحْنُ بِمَرِّ الظَّهْرَانِ فَسَعَى الْقَوْمُ فَلَغِبُوا فَأَخَذْتُهَا وَجِئْتُ بِهَا إِلَى أَبِي طَلْحَةَ فَذَبَحَهَا وَبَعَثَ بِوَرِكَيْهَا أَوْ فَخِذَيْهَا شَكَّ شُعْبَةُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ «فَقَبِلَهَا»

We chased a rabbit at Mar-al-Zahran and the people ran after it but were exhausted. I overpowered and caught it, and gave it to Abu Talha who slaughtered it and sent its hip or two thighs to Allah's Apostle. (The narrator confirms that he sent two thighs). The Prophet ﷺ accepted that. (The sub-narrator asked Anas, "Did the Prophet; eat from it?" Anas replied, "He ate from it.") (Using translation from Bukhārī 2572)

أَنْفَجْنَا أَرْنَبًا بِمَرِّ الظَّهْرَانِ فَسَعَى الْقَوْمُ فَلَغَبُوا فَأَدْرَكْتُهَا فَأَخَذْتُهَا فَذَهَبْتُ بِهَا إِلَى أَبِي طَلْحَةَ فَذَبَحَهَا وَبَعَثَ مِنْهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِوَرِكِهَا وَفَخِذِهَا قَالَ فَخِذِهَا لَا أَشُكُّ فِيهِ فَقَبِلَهُ قُلْتُ وَأَكَلَ مِنْهُ؟ قَالَ وَأَكَلَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ بَعْدُ قَبِلَهُ
