61. Sacrificial Animals
٦١۔ كِتَابُ الضَّحَايَا
[Machine] It is narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was cupped by Abu Taybah. He commanded him to give him two measures of food and spoke to his companions, instructing them to lighten his taxes. He said, "The best remedies that you can use are cupping and Qust al-Bahri, and do not treat your children harshly by piercing (their ears) with a needle."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حَجَمَهُ أَبُو طَيْبَةَ فَأَمَرَ لَهُ بِصَاعَيْنِ مِنْ طَعَامٍ وَكَلَّمَ مَوَالِيَهُ فَخَفَّفُوا عَنْهُ مِنْ ضَرِيبَتِهِ وَقَالَ خَيْرُ مَا تَدَاوَيْتُمْ بِهِ الْحِجَامَةُ وَالْقُسْطُ الْبَحْرِيُّ وَلَا تُعَذِّبُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ بِالْغَمْزِ مِنَ الْعُذْرَةِ
That Abu Tibah cupped the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he ordered that a sa' of dates be given to him, also ordering his people to remit some of his dues. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3424)
حَجَمَ أَبُو طَيْبَةَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَمَرَ لَهُ بِصَاعٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ وَأَمَرَ أَهْلَهُ أَنْ يُخَفِّفُوا عَنْهُ مِنْ خَرَاجِهِ
[Machine] I have heard Anas bin Malik narrate that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once called a young boy and measured some grain for him, either a sa' (measurement unit) or two sa's, or a mound or two mounds. The Messenger spoke to him and reduced the tax he owed.
سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ؓ يَقُولُ دَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ غُلَامًا فَحَجَمَهُ وَأَمَرَ لَهُ بِصَاعٍ أَوْ صَاعَيْنِ أَوْ مُدٍّ أَوْ مُدَّيْنِ وَكَلَّمَ فِيهِ فَخَفَّفَ مِنْ ضَرِيبَتِهِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to observe i'tikaf and he did not wrong anyone in respect to their reward.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَحْتَجِمُ وَلَا يَظْلِمُ أَحَدًا أَجْرَهُ
[Machine] The Prophet (PBUH) performed hijama (cupping) and gave the cupper his payment and sought treatment.
النَّبِيَّ ﷺ احْتَجَمَ وَأَعْطَى الْحَجَّامَ أَجْرَهُ وَاسْتَعَطَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a messenger to a tribe called Bani Bayadah and he gave him his reward. If it was Haram, he would not have given it to him and he ordered his companions to reduce his expenses.
رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حَجَمَهُ عَبْدٌ لِبَنِي بَيَاضَةَ فَأَعْطَاهُ أَجْرَهُ وَلَوْ كَانَ حَرَامًا لَمْ يُعْطِهِ وَأَمَرَ مَوَالِيَهُ أَنْ يُخَفِّفُوا عَنْهُ مِنْ خَرَاجِهِ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ got him self cupped and gave the cupper his wages. Had he considered it impure, he would not have given it (wage) to him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3423)
احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَعْطَى الْحَجَّامَ أَجْرَهُ وَلَوْ عَلِمَهُ خَبِيثًا لَمْ يُعْطِهِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was cupped and he paid the cupper his wages. Even if he had been dishonest, he would not have withheld it. This was narrated by Ayyub from Muhammad ibn Sireen from Ibn Abbas, and the narration of Muhammad ibn Sireen from Ibn Abbas is also transmitted.
رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ احْتَجَمَ وَأَعْطَى الْحَجَّامَ أَجْرَهُ وَلَوْ كَانَ خَبِيثًا لَمْ يُعْطِهِ وَرَوَاهُ أَيْضًا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَرِوَايَةُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مُرْسَلَةٌ
[Machine] Al-Abbas is deaf, Anba Al-Rabi' reported that Al-Shafi'i reported that Abdul Wahab reported from Ayoub through Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdan, reporting from Ahmad ibn Ubaid, who narrated from Ismail ibn Ishaq, who narrated from Sulaiman ibn Harb, who narrated from Hammad ibn Zaid, who narrated from Ayoub, who narrated from Muhammad ibn Sirin, who narrated from Ibn Abbas, that the Prophet ﷺ sought Hijama (cupping therapy) and performed it. And if it had been forbidden, he would not have performed it.
الْعَبَّاسِ هُوَ الْأَصَمُّ أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ أنبأ الشَّافِعِيُّ أنبأ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ح وَأنبأ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ احْتَجَمَ وَأَجَرَهُ وَلَوْ كَانَ حَرَامًا لَمْ يُعْطِهِ
احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَجَرَهُ وَلَوْ رَأَى بِهِ بَأْسًا لَمْ يُعْطِهِ
[Machine] `At-Ta'us narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a headache, so he said to the person doing cupping for him, "Cup him well."`
عَنْ طَاوُسٍ احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ لِلِحَاجِمِ اشْكُمُوهُ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ gathered and ordered me to give the cupper his wage, and this is more appropriate and similar to what has been narrated from Ata al-Khurasani from Abdullah bin Damarah from Ali, that the earnings of the cupper are from the prohibited.
احْتَجَمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَمَرَنِي فَأَعْطَيْتُ الْحَجَّامَ أَجْرَهُ وَهَذَا أَوْلَى وَأَشْبَهُ بِمَا مَضَى مِمَّا رُوِيَ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ كَسْبُ الْحَجَّامِ مِنَ السُّحْتِ
[Machine] A man who had a relationship with Uthman came to him and asked about his livelihood. Uthman mentioned to him the profit from selling pigeons and earnings from cupping or two cuppers. The man said, "Your earnings are dirty" or "Your earnings are filthy" or "Your earnings are impure" or "A word that resembles them"
أَنَّ رَجُلًا ذَا قَرَابَةٍ لِعُثْمَانَ ؓ قَدِمَ عَلَيْهِ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ مَعَاشِهِ فَذَكَرَ لَهُ غَلَّةَ حَمَّامٍ وَكَسْبَ حَجَّامٍ أَوْ حَجَّامَيْنِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ كَسْبَكُمْ لَوَسَخٌ أَوْ قَالَ لَدَنَسٌ أَوْ لَدَنِيٌّ أَوْ كَلِمَةً تُشْبِهِهَا
[Machine] Regarding the profession of cupping, even if it was considered forbidden, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not say to the Ansari man, "put it in the food of the hungry orphan."
عَنْ كَسْبِ الْحَجَّامِ وَلَوْ كَانَ حَرَامًا لَمْ يَقُلْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِلْأَنْصَارِيِّ اجْعَلْهُ فِي عَلَفِ نَاضِحِ الْيَتِيمِ
