So send down tranquility upon us, and make our feet firm if we meet. Indeed, those people have transgressed against us, and if they want tribulation, we refuse."

Offer a substitute for it (since it does not absolve you of the responsibility of sacrifice). Thereupon he said: Messenger of Allah. I have nothing with me but a goat of less than six months. Shu'ba (one of the narrators) said: I think he (al-Bara' b. 'Azib also) said: And it is better than a goat of one year. The first (act) with which we started our day (the day of 'Id-ul Adha) was that we offered prayer. We then returned and sacrificed the animals and he who did that in fact adhered to our Sunnah (practice). And he who slaughtered the (animal on that day before the 'Id prayer), for him (the slaughtering of animal was directed to the acquiring of) meat for his family, and there is nothing of the sort of sacrifice in it. It was Abu Burda b. Niyar who had slaughtered (the animal before the 'Id prayer). He said: I have a small lamb, of less than one year, but better than that of more than a year. Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ qaid: Sacrifice it, but it will not suffice (as a sacrifice) for anyone after you. (Using translation from Muslim 1961e)

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to dig the trench. He said: A rock appeared before us in a part of the trench where the pickaxes could not make any effect on it. He said: They complained about it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came. Awf said—and I think he said that he laid down his garment—then he descended to the rock, took the pickaxe, and said, "In the name of Allah." Then he struck it once and broke a third of the stone, and said, "Allah is the Greatest. I have been given the keys of Syria, and by Allah, I can indeed see its red palaces from where I am now." Then he said, "In the name of Allah," and struck it again, breaking a third of the stone. Then he said, "Allah is the Greatest. I have been given the keys of Persia, and by Allah, I can indeed see al-Madain, and I can see its white palace from where I am now." Then he said, "In the name of Allah," and struck it again, uprooting the rest of the stone. Then he said, "Allah is the Greatest. I have been given the keys of Yemen, and by Allah, I can indeed see the gates of Sana'a from where I am now."

[AI] I heard the Prophet ﷺ reciting in the Isha prayer — Muhammad said: the later one — "By the fig and the olive."

ahmad:18709Wakīʿ > al-Aʿmash And Ibn Numayr > al-Aʿmash > Ṭalḥah b. Muṣarrif > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. ʿAwsajah > al-Barāʾ b. ʿĀzib

The Prophet ﷺ said: Beautify the Qur'an with your voices. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1468)

Following the Prophet ﷺ into prostration

ahmad:18710Wakīʿ > Sufyān > Abī Isḥāq > ʿAbdullāh b. Yazīd > al-Barāʾ

[AI] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his head from bowing, none of us would bend his back until he prostrated, then we would prostrate.

Supplication heard from the Prophet ﷺ in prayer

ahmad:18711Wakīʿ > Misʿar > Thābit b. ʿUbayd > Ibn al-Barāʾ > al-Barāʾ

[AI] When we prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, among the things I liked—or we liked—was to stand on his right side. Then I heard him say: "My Lord, protect me from Your punishment on the day You gather Your servants, or resurrect Your servants."

ahmad:18712Wakīʿ > Abū Janāb > Yazīd b. al-Barāʾ > al-Barāʾ

[AI] that the Prophet ﷺ delivered a sermon while leaning on a bow or a staff.
