٩۔٤٢ حديث حارثة بن وهب

Give Sadaqa for a time is about to come when a person would walk with alms and the one whom it is to be given would say: Had you brought it yesterday, I would have accepted it. For the present I do not need it. (And the giver of Sadaqa) I would not find anyone to accept it. (Using translation from Muslim 1011)

أحمد:١٨٧٢٦حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ حَارِثَةَ بْنَ وَهْبٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ تَصَدَّقُوا فَيُوشِكُ الرَّجُلُ يَمْشِي بِصَدَقَتِهِ فَيَقُولُ الَّذِي أُعْطِيَهَا لَوْ جِئْتَ بِهَا بِالْأَمْسِ قَبِلْتُهَا وَأَمَّا الْآنَ فَلَا حَاجَةَ لِي فِيهَا فَلَا يَجِدُ مَنْ يَقْبَلُهَا

Shortening the prayer in Mina

[AI] I prayed with the Prophet ﷺ the Zuhr, or the Asr, in Mina when the people were most numerous and it was most secure, as two rakahs.

أحمد:١٨٧٢٧حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ وَهْبٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ قَالَ

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الظُّهْرَ أَوِ الْعَصْرَ بِمِنًى، أَكْثَرَ مَا كَانَ النَّاسُ وَآمَنَهُ، رَكْعَتَيْنِ.

May I not inform you about the inmates of Paradise? (And then informing about them) said: Every meek person who is considered to be humble and if they were to adjure in the name of Allah, Allah would certainly fulfil it. May I not inform you about the inmates of Hell-Fire? They are all proud, mean and haughty. (Using translation from Muslim 2853c)

أحمد:١٨٧٢٨حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ حَارِثَةَ بْنَ وَهْبٍ الْخُزَاعِيَّ يَقُولُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ؟ كُلُّ ضَعِيفٍ مُتَضَعَّفٍ لَوْ يُقْسِمُ عَلَى اللهِ لَأَبَرَّهُ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَهْلِ النَّارِ؟ كُلُّ جَوَّاظٍ جَعْظَرِيٍّ مُسْتَكْبِرٍ

Giving charity before none will accept it

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Give charity, for soon one of you may go out with his charity and find no one to accept it from him."

أحمد:١٨٧٢٩حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍقَالَ سَمِعْتُ حَارِثَةَ بْنَ وَهْبٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: «تَصَدَّقُوا، فَإِنَّهُ يُوشِكُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ بِصَدَقَتِهِ، فَلَا يَجِدُ مَنْ يَقْبَلُهَا مِنْهُ».

“Shall I not tell you about the people of Paradise? Every weak and oppressed one. Shall I not tell you about the people of Hell? Every harsh, haughty and arrogant one.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4116)

أحمد:١٨٧٣٠حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ وَهْبٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِأَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ؟ كُلُّ ضَعِيفٍ مُتَضَعَّفٍ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللهِ لَأَبَرَّهُ أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِأَهْلِ النَّارِ؟ كُلُّ عُتُلٍّ جَوَّاظٍ مُسْتَكْبِرٍ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer in Mina, two rak'ahs, when the people were greater in number and more secure." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1446)
