8. Shāmīs (7/26)
[Machine] "He (the narrator) mentioned that he was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the time of the conquest (of Mecca), and they passed by a man who had been observing I'tikaf in Al-Baqi' for eighteen days of Ramadan, while still in I'tikaf. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'The person observing I'tikaf and the menstruating woman are both fasting.'"
“Allah has prescribed Al-Ihsan (proficiency) in all things. So if you kill, then kill well, and if you slaughter, then slaughter well. Let one of you sharpen his blade and spare suffering to the animal he slaughters.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3170)
[Machine] "Bring the dish to my servant, so that we can play with it," but I refused him. He then said, "I have not spoken a word since converting except for when I stumble and fumble, and it is not like this word of mine, so do not guard it from me, but rather guard from me what I say to you. I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , say, 'When the people hoard gold and silver, hoard these words instead: O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in the matter, and determination in righteousness. I ask You for gratitude towards Your blessings, and I ask You for good worship. I ask You for a sound heart, and I ask You for a truthful tongue. I ask You for whatever good You know, and I seek Your protection from whatever evil You know. I seek Your forgiveness for what You know. Indeed, You are the Knower of all that is hidden.'"
[Machine] Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said: "Verily, Allah has shown me the entire earth, so I saw its east and west. And indeed, the dominion of my nation will reach that which was shown to me of it. And indeed, I have been given the two treasures, the white and the red. And I asked my Lord that my nation not be destroyed by a consecutive year of famine, and that they not be made to face an enemy who is not from them, who will destroy them en masse. And that they not be made to wear clothing of degradation, and that they not taste the punishment from one another." He ﷺ said: "O Muhammad, when I decree a matter, it cannot be reversed. And indeed, I have given you a guarantee for your nation that I will not destroy them with a consecutive year of famine, and I will not subject them to an enemy who is not from them, who will destroy them en masse. So that some of them are destroyed by others, and some of them are killed by others, and some of them are taken captive by others." He ﷺ said: "And indeed, I do not fear for my nation except for the misguided imams. When the sword is wielded among my nation, it is not lifted from them until the Day of Resurrection."
‘The cupper and the one for whom cupping is done both break their fast.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1679)
[Machine] "He has a strong immunity against the consequences of evil deeds and forgiveness for sins. I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , saying that Allah, glorified and exalted be He, said, 'When I test one of My believing servants and he praises Me for what I have tested him with, then indeed he rises from his sleep as if it were the day his mother gave birth to him, free from sins.' And the Lord, glorified be He, says, 'I have limited the actions of My servant and tested him, so reward him as you used to reward him before.' And this narration is authentic."
[Machine] I passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for eighteen consecutive nights that passed from Ramadan, and he saw a man shaving his head. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The person shaving his head and the one getting his head shaved have broken their fast."
[Machine] Once, I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying something that made me cry. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "I fear for my Ummah (community) associating partners with Allah and the concealed desires." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, will your Ummah associate partners with Allah after you?" He replied, "Yes, indeed. They will not worship the sun, the moon, stones, or idols. Instead, they will be tested through their actions, and the concealed desire is when someone intends to observe fasting but their desire overwhelms them, so they break their fast."
[Machine] We were with the Prophet ﷺ when he asked, "Is there anyone among you who is a stranger?," meaning the People of the Book. We replied, "No, O Messenger of Allah." He then ordered the door to be closed and said, "Raise your hands and say, 'There is no god but Allah.'" So, we raised our hands for a moment, and then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his hand down and said, "Praise be to Allah. O Allah, you have sent me with this word, commanded me with it, and promised me Paradise for it. And indeed, You do not fail in Your promise." Then he said, "Rejoice, for indeed Allah has forgiven you."
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "There will be leaders after me who will neglect the proper timing of the prayer. So, perform the prayer at its designated time, and make your prayer along with them as a supplication."
“The wise man is the one who takes account of himself and strives for that which is after death. And the helpless man is the one who follows his own whims then indulges in wishful thinking about Allah.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4260)
[Machine] "While I was walking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in some streets of the city, eighteen days have passed from Ramadan, and he was holding my hand. Then, we passed by a man who was shaving his head, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The one who is getting his head shaved and the one who is performing the Hajj can break their fast.'"
[Machine] I was with the Prophet ﷺ in Medina. He said, "That was during the eighteenth day of Ramadan, and I saw a man shaving his head (indicating the completion of Hajj). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The Hajji (the one performing Hajj) and the Muhrim (the one in the state of Ihram) have broken their fast.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a man who was having cupping therapy during Ramadan, so he said, "The one who is having cupping therapy and the one who is being cupped have broken their fast."
‘The cupper and the one for whom cupping is done both break their fast.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1679)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me while I was observing I'tikaf during the last eighteen nights of Ramadan. He said, "The one observing I'tikaf and the one providing him shelter both have broken their fasts."
The Prophet [SAW] said: "The best of prayers for forgiveness is for a person to say: 'Allahumma, anta rabbi, la ilaha illa anta, khalaqtani wa ana 'abduka, wa ana 'ala 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu, a'udhu bika min sharri ma sana'tu, abuw'u laka bidhanbi, wa abuw'u laka bini'matika 'alayya faghfirli, fa innahu la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa anta (O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You have created me and I am Your slave and I am keeping my promise and covenant to You as much as I can. I seek refuge with You from the evil of what I do. I acknowledge Your blessing and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for there is none who can forgive sin except You.)' If he says this in the morning, believing in it firmly, and dies on that day before evening comes, he will enter Paradise, and if he says it in the evening, believing firmly in it, and dies before morning comes, he will enter Paradise." Al-Walid bin Tha'labah contradicted him. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5522)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The best form of seeking forgiveness is to mention this Hadith."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whenever a person goes to their bed and recites a chapter from the Book of Allah, Allah sends an angel to protect them from any harm until morning comes."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say in his prayer: "Allahumma inni as'aluka at-thabbuta fi al-amr wal-'azimata 'alar-rushdi wa as'aluka shukr ni'matik wa husna 'ibadatik wa as'aluka qalban saliman wa lisanan sadiqan wa as'aluka min khairi ma at'lamu wa author bika min sharri ma at'lamu wastaghfiruka lima ta'lam (O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in all my affairs and determination in following the right path, I ask You to make me thankful for Your blessings and to make me worship You properly. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I ask You for the best of what You know and I seek refuge in You from the worst of what You know and I seek Your forgiveness for what You know.)" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1304)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever recites a poem after the last Ishaa prayer, their prayer for that night will not be accepted."
[Machine] From the hadith of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : "The worst of this nation will bear the evil habits of those who preceded them - the people of the scripture - step by step."
“When you come to your dead ones, close their eyes, for the sight follows the soul. And say good things, for the Angels say Amin to what the members of the household say.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1455)
[Machine] He hears the conversation from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , in which there is difficulty, then he goes out to his people and greets them. Then, indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ grants permission in it, but Abu Dharr does not hear it, so Abu Dharr becomes attached to the severe matter.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came across a man who was performing the ritual of Ihram in Al-Baqi for eighteen days of Ramadan while holding my hand, and he said, "The one who performs the ritual of Ihram and the one who does Al-Mahjoon (partially shaving the head and leaving the rest of the hair) should break their fast."
"Two things that I memorized form the Messenger of Allah; 'Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has decreed proficiency in all things, so when you kill, kill well, and when you slaughter, slaughter well. Let one of you sharpen his blade and spare suffering to the animal he slaughter,"" (Sahih ) (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4414)
[Machine] To see a man among the Muslims who recites the Quran on the tongue of Muhammad ﷺ , and then repeats it and learns its lawful and unlawful aspects, and applies it in his daily life, and recites it on the tongue of his brother, again repeating it and learning its lawful and unlawful aspects, and then applies it in his daily life - such a person will not harm you, just as the dead donkey's head does not harm.
While we were discussing this, Shaddad ibn Aws and Awf ibn Malik came and sat with us. Shaddad said, "The thing I fear the most for you, O people, is what I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding hidden desires and associating partners with Allah. Ubada ibn As-Samit and Abu Ad-Darda' said, 'O Allah, forgive us!' Has not the Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed us that Satan has despaired of being worshipped on the Arabian Peninsula? As for hidden desires, we know what they are - the desires of this worldly life and its women. But what is this association that you fear, O Shaddad?" Shaddad replied, "Would you consider a man who prays to another man, or fasts for him, or gives charity on his behalf, as one who associates partners with Allah?" They replied, "Yes, by Allah, if someone prays to another man, or fasts for him, or gives charity on his behalf, he has indeed associated partners with Allah." Shaddad then said, "I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever prays seeking the pleasure of others has associated partners with Allah. Whoever fasts seeking the pleasure of others has associated partners with Allah. Whoever gives charity seeking the pleasure of others has associated partners with Allah.'" Upon hearing this, Awf ibn Malik asked, "Should one not turn away from the act that is sought, and sincerely dedicate it only for the sake of Allah, accepting what is purely for Him and rejecting what associates partners with Him?" Shaddad replied, "Indeed, I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Allah says, "I am the best distributor. For those who associate partners with Me, their efforts are of little value, while their association of partners with Me is abundant. As for Me, I am self-sufficient from them.'"

8.29 [Machine] Al-`Arbadh bin Sariyah on the Prophet ﷺ
It was narrated from ‘Irbad bin Sariyah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to ask for forgiveness for the first row three times and for the second row twice. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 996)
He heard Al-'Irbad bin Sariyah say: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a moving speech to us which made our eyes flow with tears and made our hearts melt. We said: 'O Messenger of Allah. This is a speech of farewell. What did you enjoin upon us?' He said: 'I am leaving you upon a (path of) brightness whose night is like its day. No one will deviate from it after I am gone but one who is doomed. Whoever among you lives will see great conflict. I urge you to adhere to what you know of my Sunnah and the path of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs, and cling stubbornly to it. And you must obey, even if (your leader is) an Abyssinian leader. For the true believer is like a camel with a ring in its nose; wherever it is driven, it complies." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 43)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ invited me to a meal shortly before dawn in Ramadan saying: Come to the blessed morning meal. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2344)
AbdurRahman ibn Amr as-Sulami and Hujr ibn Hujr said: We came to Irbad ibn Sariyah who was among those about whom the following verse was revealed: "Nor (is there blame) on those who come to thee to be provided with mounts, and when thou saidst: "I can find no mounts for you." We greeted him and said: We have come to see you to give healing and obtain benefit from you. Al-Irbad said: One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer, then faced us and gave us a lengthy exhortation at which the eyes shed tears and the hearts were afraid. A man said: Messenger of Allah! It seems as if it were a farewell exhortation, so what injunction do you give us? He then said: I enjoin you to fear Allah, and to hear and obey even if it be an Abyssinian slave, for those of you who live after me will see great disagreement. You must then follow my sunnah and that of the rightly-guided caliphs. Hold to it and stick fast to it. Avoid novelties, for every novelty is an innovation, and every innovation is an error. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4607)
