[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed three times for the front row and once for the one that follows it.

ahmad:17163Abū al-Yamān al-Ḥakam b. Nāfiʿ > Abū Bakr > Saʿīd b. Sūwayd > al-ʿIrbāḍ b. Sāriyah al-Sulamī

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Indeed, I am in the sight of Allah in the Mother of the Book. I am the seal of the Prophets, and indeed Adam was fashioned from clay. I will inform you of the interpretation of this; it is the supplication of my father Ibrahim, and the good tidings of Isa (Jesus) to his people, and the vision of my mother that she saw, that a light came out of her that illuminated the palaces of Syria. And likewise, the mothers of the Prophets, may the blessings of Allah be upon them, see."

ahmad:17164Abū al-Yamān > Ismāʿīl b. ʿAyyāsh > Baḥīr b. Saʿd > Khālid b. Maʿdān > Ibn Abū Bilāl > al-ʿIrbāḍ b. Sāriyah

[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "The martyrs and those who die of plague will dispute with Allah about those who died from the plague. The martyrs will say, 'Our brethren were killed.' The plague victims will say, 'Our brethren died on their beds, just as we did.' Then Allah will rule between them and say, 'Look at the wounds of the plague victims. If their wounds resemble the wounds of the martyrs, then they are considered martyrs and will be with them.'"

ahmad:17165ʿAbd al-Ṣamad b. ʿAbd al-Wārith > Mālik b. Mighwal > ʿAlī b. Mudrikʿan Abū ʿĀmir al-Ashʿarī

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to Abu 'Amir, "Did you not change?" So he recited this verse, "O you who have believed, take care of yourselves. He who has gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided" [Surah Al-Ma'idah, verse 105]. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry and said, "Where did you go? Indeed, it is for you, O you who have believed, that he who has gone astray from the disbelievers will not harm you when you have been guided."

ahmad:17166And Hb b. Jarīr from my father > ʿAbdullāh b. Malādh > Numayr b. Aws > Mālik b. Masrūḥ > ʿĀmir b. Abū ʿĀmir al-Ashʿarī from his father

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best of people are the Asad (lion) and the Ash'ariyun (a tribe known for their bravery) in battle. They do not run away nor do they show excessive boldness. They are from me and I am from them." 'Amir then narrated this to Mu'awiyah who said, "It is not as you have said. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'They are from me and to me.' " 'Amir replied, "That is not what my father narrated to me from the Prophet ﷺ . He said, 'They are from me and I am from them.'" Mu'awiyah then said, "In that case, you would know better about the narration of your father." 'Abdullah said, "This is one of the most reliable narrations, as only Jarir has narrated it."

ahmad:17167Abū al-Yamān > Shuʿayb > ʿAbdullāh b. Abū Ḥusayn > Shahr b. Ḥawshab > ʿĀmir or Abū ʿĀmir or Abū Mālik

[Machine] On the authority of 'Amir, Abu 'Amir, or Abu Malik, that the Prophet ﷺ was sitting in a gathering with his companions when Gabriel came to him in a different form, appearing as a man from the Muslims. Gabriel greeted him and the Prophet ﷺ returned the greeting. Then Gabriel placed his hand on the Prophet's knee and asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what is Islam?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "It is to submit your face to Allah, to bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, to establish the prayer, give the obligatory charity (zakat)." Gabriel asked again, "So if I do this, have I become a Muslim?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Yes." Then Gabriel asked, "What is faith?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "It is to believe in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Divine Books, the prophets, life after death, heaven, hell, and fate, both its good and bad." Gabriel asked again, "So if I do this, have I believed?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Yes." Then Gabriel asked, "What is excellence (ihsan), O Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "It is to worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then truly He sees you." Gabriel asked again, "So if I do this, have I excelled?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Yes." And we heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ return to him, but we could not see the one speaking to him, nor could we hear his words. The questioner asked, "O Messenger of Allah, when is the Hour?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Glory be to Allah, it has five signs which only Allah knows: Allah possesses knowledge of the Hour, He sends down rain, He knows what is in the wombs, no soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul knows in which land it will die. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted." (Surah Luqman, 34) The questioner then said, "O Messenger of Allah, if you wish, I can inform you of two signs that will precede it." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Inform me." The questioner said, "When you see a slave woman giving birth to her mistress, and when you see the barefooted, naked, impoverished shepherds competing in constructing tall buildings." The questioner asked, "And who are they, O Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Bedouins." Then he turned away, and when we did not see him on his way back, we said, "Glory be to Allah! This is Gabriel who came to teach the people their religion. The hand of Muhammad is in the hand of Gabriel, every time he came to him, I had not received any message except that I already knew it, except for this time."

ahmad:17168Abū al-Naḍr > ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd > Shahr b. Ḥawshab > Ibn ʿAbbās

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ prohibited various types of women and mentioned the hadith.

ahmad:17169

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat in a gathering when Jibreel ﷺ came to him and sat in front of him. Jibreel mentioned a story and said, "If you wish, I can tell you the signs of that story separately." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, please tell me."

ahmad:17170ʿAffān

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed Allah commanded Yahya bin Zakariyya with five commandments to abide by, and to command the Children of Isra'il to abide by them. But he was slow in doing so. So 'Eisa said: 'Indeed Allah commanded you with five commandments to abide by and to command the Children of Isra'il to abide by. Either you command them, or I shall command them.' So Yahya said: 'I fear that if you precede me in this, then the earth may swallow me, or I shall be punished.' So he gathered the people in Jerusalem, and they filled [the Masjid] and sat upon its balconies. So he said: 'Indeed Allah has commanded me with five commandments to abide by, and to command you to abide by. The first of them is that you worship Allah and not associate anything with him. The parable of the one who associates others with Allah is that of a man who buys a servant with his own gold or silver, then he says to him: "This is my home and this is my business so take care of it and give me the profits." So he takes care of it and gives the profits to someone other than his master. Which of you would live to have a servant like that? And Allah commands you to perform Salat, and when you perform Salat then do not turn away, for Allah is facing the face of His worshipers as long as he does not turn away. And He commands you with fasting. For indeed the parable of fasting, is that of a man in a group with a sachet containing musk. All of them enjoy its fragrance. Indeed the breath of the fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the scent of musk. And He commands you to give charity. The parable of that, is a man captured by his enemies, tying his hands to his neck, and they come to him to beat his neck. Then he said: "I can ransom myself from you with a little or a lot" so he ransoms himself from them. And He commands you to remember Allah. For indeed the parable of that, is a man whose enemy quickly tracks him until he reaches an impermeable fortress in which he protects himself from them. This is how the worshiper is; he does not protect himself from Ash-Shaitan except by the remembrance of Allah.'" The Prophet ﷺ said: "And I command you with five that Allah commanded me: Listening and obeying, Jihad, Hijrah, and the Jama'ah. For indeed whoever parts from the Jama'ah the measure of a hand-span, then he has cast off the yoke of Islam from his neck, unless he returns. And whoever calls with the call of Jahiliyyah then he is from the coals of Hell." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah! Even if he performs Salat and fasts?" [Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying that nothing of arrogance shall enter Paradise. A person then said, "O Prophet of Allah, I wish to adorn myself with two whips and two pairs of footwear." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, that is not arrogance. Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. Arrogance is rejecting the truth and looking down upon people." He meant by "two whips" walking with arrogance and by "two pairs of footwear" wearing them with pride.

"A friend of mine who was called Abu 'Amir, from Al-Ma'afir, and I went out to pray in Jerusalem. Their preacher was a man from (the tribe of) Azd who was called Abu Raihanah, one of the Companions." I said: 'No.' He said: 'I heard him say: 'The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade ten things: Filing (the teeth), tattoos, plucking (hair), for two men to lie under one cover with no barrier between them, for two women to lie under one cover with no barrier between them, for a man to add more than four fingers' width of silk to the bottom of his garment like the foreigners (Persians), (and he forbade) plundering, riding (while sitting on) leopard skins and wearing rings- except for rulers."
