[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us and said, "You believe that I am the last among you to die, but I am actually the first among you to die. And you follow me as descendants, some of you will destroy others."

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever goes to a fortune-teller and asks him about something that was concealed from him, his prayers will not be accepted for forty nights. And if he believes in what the fortune-teller says, then he has disbelieved."

[Machine] "I saw the Prophet ﷺ at the Mosque of Al-Khayf, and his companions said to me, 'O Wathilah, stay away from the face of the Prophet ﷺ .' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Leave him, for he came to ask me something.' So, I came near him and said, 'May both my parents be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah! Advise us about something that we can rely on after you.' He said, 'Have self-control.' I asked, 'How can I achieve that?' He replied, 'Leave what makes you doubtful for what does not make you doubtful. And if you are given a religious verdict by those affected by desires, then it is better for you to understand and beware.' I asked, 'How can I attain that knowledge?' He said, 'Place your hand on your chest. Verily, the heart becomes calm with what is lawful and it becomes disturbed with what is unlawful. And verily, the cautious Muslim avoids small doubtful matters fearing that they may lead him to what is forbidden.' I asked, 'What is fanaticism, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'Helping one's people in wrongdoing.' I asked, 'Who is eager?' He said, 'The one who seeks profit in an unlawful way.' I asked, 'Who is cautious?' He said, 'The one who abstains from doubtful matters.' I asked, 'Who is a believer?' He said, 'The one whom people trust with their wealth and lives.' I asked, 'Who is a Muslim?' He said, 'The one from whose tongue and hands people are safe.' I asked, 'Which jihad is best?' He said, 'The word of justice in front of an oppressive ruler.'"

عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ

tabarani:18490Ibrāhīm b. Duḥaym al-Dimashqī from my father > Muḥammad b. Shuʿayb b. Shābūr > Yaḥyá b. Abū ʿAmr al-Saybānī > ʿAmr b. ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥaḍramī > Wāthilah b. al-Asqaʿ

[Machine] I went as an emigrant to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ . When people entered from the outside, the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , would not see anyone sitting without coming closer to them and asking, "Do you have a need?" He started with the first row, then the second, then the third, until he came to me and said, "Do you have a need?" I said, "Yes, Messenger of Allah." He asked, "What is your need?" I said, "Islam." He said, "It is good for you." He asked, "Are you emigrating?" I said, "Yes." He said, "The emigration of the desert or the emigration of the city?" I asked, "Which one is better?" He said, "The emigration of the city is to stay with the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , and the emigration of the desert is to return to your tribe and obey and follow the instructions, whether it is easy or difficult for you." I said, "I pledge allegiance to you." He said, "Make it to the best of your ability." The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , called during the Battle of Tabuk, and I went to my family. I found my father sitting in the sun, contemplating it. I greeted him with the greeting of Islam, and he asked, "Did you embrace Islam?" I said, "Yes, I did." He said, "May Allah make it good for you and us." I accepted that from him. While I was with him, my sister came to greet me. I said, "O my sister, provide me with the provisions that a woman gives to her brother who is going for Jihad." She came to me with dough in a bucket, and the bucket was in a sack. I started calling out, "Who will carry a man's weapon?" An elder from the Ansar responded and said, "His weapon is on the condition that we carry it behind him, and his food is with us." I said, "Yes, go forth with the blessings of Allah." I went with a good companion, who loaded me with what I requested and provided me with food, in addition to what he ate himself, until Allah granted us victory. I was affected by heatstrokes, so I drank from them until I came to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , while he was in his tent. I called him, and he came out and sat on a bag of his camel's goods. Then he said, "Give them to me turned away." So I gave them to him turned away. Then he said, "Give them to me facing me." So I gave them to him facing him. Then he said, "I don't see your heatstrokes except as honorable." I said, "Indeed, it is your spoils of war that I conditioned for you." He said, "Take your heatstrokes, O son of my brother, but we wanted something other than your weapon."

[Machine] I said, "O Prophet of Allah, inform me." He said, "If you wish, I can inform you about what you came to ask, and if you wish, ask me." I said, "Rather, inform me, O Messenger of Allah, for it is better for my soul." He said, "You came to ask about certainty and doubt." I said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, that is it." He said, "Indeed, certainty is what settles in the heart and brings tranquility to it. And if the obsessed comes to you, then leave what causes doubt and turn to that which does not cause doubt. Indeed, goodness brings tranquility and doubt brings confusion. And when you are in doubt, leave what causes doubt and turn to that which does not cause doubt." I said, "O Prophet of Allah, by my father and mother, what is fanaticism?" He said, "To support your people in wrongdoing, to have caution with suspicions, and to be eager for the world that you seek unlawfully, and sin is what causes agitation in the heart."

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was visited by a man who had many physical disabilities. The man asked the Prophet ﷺ to inform him of the obligations that Allah has mandated upon him. After the Prophet ﷺ informed him, the man said, "I have made a covenant with Allah that I will not exceed His obligations." The man asked, "Why?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Because He has created me with these disabilities." The man then turned and left. Gabriel (Jibreel) came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, "O Muhammad, where is the reproach for his Lord? He should reproach the Noble Lord." The Prophet ﷺ reproached the man and said, "Do you not want to be resurrected on the Day of Judgment in the form of Gabriel?" The Prophet ﷺ then sent a message to the man, saying, "Indeed, you reproached a Noble Lord, so He reproaches you. Do you not want Allah to resurrect you on the Day of Judgment in the form of Gabriel?" The man replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." [Machine] I heard Wathilah ibn Al-Asqa' saying, "I used to be one of the companions who had the habit of eating. My companions complained of hunger, so they said, 'O Wathilah, go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and ask him to feed us.' So, I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, my companions are complaining of hunger.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Aisha, do you have anything?' She replied, 'O Messenger of Allah, I only have some scraps of bread.' He said, 'Bring it here.' So, she brought a cloth bag, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ summoned a sheet, poured the bread into the sheet, and then began mending the soup with his own hands until the sheet was filled. He then said, 'O Wathilah, go and bring ten of your companions, and you be the tenth.' So, I went and brought ten of my companions, including myself. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Sit down, say Bismillah, and take from the sides and do not take from the top, for blessings descend from the top.' They ate until they were full, then they got up, and the food in the sheet remained the same. The Prophet ﷺ then mended it with his own hands until it was filled again. He said, 'O Wathilah, go and bring ten of your companions.' So, I went and brought ten of my companions, and they did the same. The Prophet ﷺ asked, 'Is there anyone left?' I replied, 'Yes, ten.' He said, 'Go and bring them.' So, I went and brought them, and they ate until they were full, then they got up, and the food in the sheet remained the same. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'O Wathilah, take this to Aisha.'"
