[Machine] We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ when a man with a disheveled neck came and said, "O Messenger of Allah, me and my brother were digging a well and the pickaxe fell and he struck his friend's head with it and killed him." The Prophet ﷺ told him, "Forgive him." But he refused. The Prophet ﷺ repeated his request to forgive, but he still refused. The Prophet ﷺ then told him, "Take him away with you, and if you kill him, you would be like him in guilt." So he took him away until he disappeared from our sight. Then the Prophet ﷺ called him back and said, "Did you not hear what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said?" The man returned and said, "Yes, I forgive him." Then he dragged his friend's body until it was hidden from our view.

[Machine] I witnessed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a man was brought in shackles. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to the guardian of the deceased, "Do you forgive him?" He replied, "No." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Then take the blood money." He replied, "No." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Then you may kill him." He said, "Yes." So he took him away with him. He said, "Come, do you forgive?" repeating the same words as before. The guardian of the deceased repeated the same words three times. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said at the fourth time, "Indeed, if you forgive, then it will be as if it was your own sin and the sin of your companion." So he left him. I saw him dragging his shackles.

A man from the gathering went and informed the murderer about what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said. So he freed his way. I saw him dragging his heels while he was going away. Isma'il (one of the narrators of this Hadith) said, "I narrated this to Habib bin Abu Thabit who said, 'Ibn Ashwa narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spared the life of that man but he did not narrate what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said about them (both) being in the Fire.'"

On the Authority of his father: A man from Hadramawt and a man of Kindah came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Al-Hadrami said: Messenger of Allah, this (man) took away forcibly from me the land which belongs to my father. Al-Kindi said: It is my land in my possession, and I cultivate it, he has no right to it. The Prophet ﷺ then said to al-Hadrami: Have you any proof ? He said: No. He then said: So for you is his oath. He said: Messenger of Allah, he is liar, he does not care for which he is taking the oath. He does not refrain himself from anything. The Prophet ﷺ said: You will have nothing from him except that. He went to take an oath for him. When he turned his back, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If he takes an oath on the property to take it away by unfair means, he will meet Allah while He is unmindful of him. [Machine] A woman was approached by a man in the darkness of the morning while she was heading towards the mosque. He forcefully dragged her against her will, but she sought help from a passing man who scared the man away and then a group of armed men passed by, and she sought their help. They caught the man who had attacked her and were about to punish him when they brought him to the Prophet ﷺ . She informed him that the man had assaulted her, and the people corroborated that they had caught him. The Prophet ﷺ said, "I was there to help her because of her male companion. Now you have caught me, so leave the man." She said that he was lying and it was the man who had attacked her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Take him and stone him." A man from the crowd stood up and said, "Don't stone him because I am the one who committed the act with her." He confessed, and then three individuals, the man who had assaulted her, the one who had helped her, and the woman, gathered before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He said to the man who had assaulted her, "As for you, you are forgiven." Then he said kind words to the man who had helped her. Umar said, "Stone the one who has confessed to committing adultery." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, he has repented to Allah with a repentance that if the people of Madinah had done, it would have been accepted from them."
