[Machine] I was a young boy who did not understand my father's prayer, so Alqamah bin Wael narrated to me from Abu Wael bin Hujr who said, "I prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and when he said the takbeer, he raised his hands, then he placed them on his waist, and he put his right hand on his left hand. He would place his hands in his garment, and when he wanted to raise his head from the bowing position, he raised his hands, then he prostrated and placed his forehead between his palms. And when he raised his head from prostration, he raised his hands until he finished his prayer."  

كُنْتُ غُلَامًا لَا أَعْقِلُ صَلَاةَ أَبِي فَحَدَّثَنِي عَلْقَمَةُ بْنُ وَائِلٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ قَالَ «صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَانَ إِذَا كَبَّرَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ الْتَحَفَ فَأَخَذَ يَمِينَهُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَأَدْخَلَ يَدَيْهِ فِي ثَوْبَهِ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ وَوَضَعَ جَبْهَتَهُ بَيْنَ كَفَّيْهِ فَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ السُّجُودِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ»  

[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , prostrating on the ground, placing his forehead and nose in his prostration.  

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْجُدُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ وَاضِعًا جَبْهَتَهُ وَأَنْفَهُ فِي سُجُودِهِ»  

[Machine] "That the Prophet (PBUH) performed ablution, then he sprinkled water and ran his fingers through his fingers."  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ تَوَضَّأَ فَاسْتَنْثِرَ وَخَلِّلَ أَصَابِعَهُ بِأَصَابِعِهِ»  

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ called for a bucket of water, drank from it, and then poured in it."  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَعَا بِدَلْوٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ مَجَّ فِيهِ»  

[Machine] I visited the Prophet (PBUH) and what pleased me is that I have on my face a face of a man from the Arab Valley. I saw him praying and he would say takbir when he raised [his head] and when he prostrated. He would give salaam from his right and from his left when he finished, until I could see the whiteness of his cheek from here and here.  

«قَدِمْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَمَا يَسُرُّنِي أَنَّ لِي بِوَجْهِي مِنْهُ وَجْهَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بِوَادِي الْعَرَبِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُصَلِّي فَيُكَبِّرُ إِذَا رَفَعَ وَإِذَا سَجَدَ وَيُسَلِّمُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ إِذَا انْصَرَفَ حَتَّى أَرَى بَيَاضَ خَدِّهِ مِنْ هَهُنَا وَهَهُنَا»  

[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he started the prayer, he raised his hands until the sides of his thumbs aligned with the lobes of his ears."  

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى يُحَاذِيَ طَرَفُ إِبْهَامَيْهِ شَحْمَةَ أُذُنَيْهِ»  

[Machine] "I prayed with the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , and I saw him placing his right hand over the left."  

«صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَضَعُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْأُخْرَى»  

[Machine] "I saw the messenger of Allah ﷺ placing his right hand on his left hand during prayer, close to the wrist."  

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَضَعُ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى فِي الصَّلَاةِ قَرِيبًا مِنَ الرُّسْغِ»  

[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ leaning on one of his hands over the other during prayer."  

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَعْتَمِدُ بِإِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى فِي الصَّلَاةِ»  

[Machine] "He ﷺ prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he heard a man saying, 'Praise be to Allah, abundant, pure, and blessed in it'. When the Prophet ﷺ finished his prayer, he asked, 'Who said these words?' He said, 'It was me, O Messenger of Allah, and by Allah, I did not intend anything except goodness'. He said, 'Indeed, the doors of heaven have been opened for it, and nothing prevented it except the Throne'."  

أَنَّهُ صَلَّى خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ فَلَمَّا أَنْ قَضَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ صَلَاتَهُ قَالَ «مَنْ صَاحِبُ الْكَلِمَاتِ» ؟ قَالَ أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَاللهِ مَا أَرَدْتُ بِهَا إِلَّا الْخَيْرَ قَالَ «لَقَدْ فُتِحَتْ لَهَا أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ فَمَا نَهْنَهَهَا شَيْءٌ دُونَ الْعَرْشِ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to pray, and a man came and entered the row (of the prayer). He said, "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest) in a loud voice, and "Subhan Allah" (Glory be to Allah) repeatedly and continuously while moving his fingers. When the Prophet ﷺ completed the prayer, he said, "Who is the one who was saying these words?" The man said, "It was me, O Messenger of Allah. I did not intend anything by them except goodness." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, I saw the gates of heaven opened, and they did not stop until they reached the Throne."  

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَدَخَلَ فِي الصَّفِّ فَقَالَ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ كَبِيرًا وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ صَاحِبُ الْكَلِمَاتِ؟» قَالَ الرَّجُلُ أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا أَرَدْتُ بِهِنَّ إِلَّا خَيْرًا قَالَ «لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ فُتِحَتْ فَمَا تَنَاهَتْ دُونَ الْعَرْشِ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was in prayer when someone entered the mosque and also began to pray. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah is the Greatest, very Great, and Glory be to Allah with abundant praise." Then, the Prophet ﷺ was raised up to the heavens, and then he returned to his prayer. When he finished his prayer, he asked, "Who was the person who spoke the words?" The person replied, "It was me, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, the doors of heavens were opened for them, and nothing prevented it except the Throne."  

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَدَخَلَ دَاخِلٌ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ كَبِيرًا وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ كَثِيرًا فَرَفَعَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى صَلَاتِهِ حَتَّى إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ «مَنْ صَاحِبُ الْكَلِمَةِ؟» قَالَ أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «لَقَدْ فُتِحَتْ لَهَا أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ فَمَا نَهْنَهَهَا شَيْءٌ دُونَ الْعَرْشِ»  

[Machine] I prayed with the Prophet ﷺ, and I heard a man saying "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the greatest) many times, and "SubhanAllah" (Glory be to Allah) and "Alhamdulillah" (Praise be to Allah) many times as well. After he left, the Prophet asked, "Who is the person who was saying these words?" I said, "I only intended good." The Prophet said, "The gates of heaven were opened for these words, and nothing stops them except the Throne."  

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَسَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ كَبِيرًا وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ كَثِيرًا فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ «مَنْ صَاحِبُ الْكَلِمَةِ؟» قَالَ مَا أَرَدْتُ إِلَّا الْخَيْرَ قَالَ «لَقَدْ فُتِحَتْ لَهَا أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ فَمَا نَهْنَهَهَا شَيْءٌ دُونَ الْعَرْشِ»  

[Machine] I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and I heard a man saying, "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest) very loudly. "Alhamdulillah" (All praise be to Allah) repeatedly, "Tayyiban" (Pure) and "Mubarak" (Blessed) in it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I saw the gates of heaven open for it, and twelve angels were leading it."  

صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ كَبِيرًا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «رَأَيْتُهَا وَقَدِ ابْتَدَرَهَا اثْنَا عَشَرَ مَلَكًا وَفُتِحَتْ لَهَا أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ»  

[Machine] It is narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) used to raise his hands and say the takbeer when he entered the prayer. Then he would cover himself with his garment and place his right hand over his left. When he intended to bow, he would say "like this with his garment" and he would take out his hands, then raise them and say the takbeer, and then he would bow. When he intended to prostrate, his knees would touch the ground before his palms. And when he prostrated, he would place his forehead between his palms and keep his elbows away from his sides. Hammam said, "The most knowledgeable among us is that in the narration of Muhammad ibn Juhaadah, when he stood up, he would stand on his knees and rely on his thighs."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «كَانَ إِذَا دَخَلَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَكَبَّرَ ثُمَّ الْتَحَفَ بِثَوْبِهِ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ قَالَ هَكَذَا بِثَوْبِهِ وَأخْرَجَ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ رَفَعَهُمَا وَكَبَّرَ وَرَكَعَ فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ وَقَعَتْ رُكْبَتَاهُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ قَبْلَ كَفَّيْهِ فَلَمَّا سَجَدَ وَضَعَ جَبْهَتَهُ بَيْنَ كَفَّيْهِ وَجَافَى عَنْ إِبْطَيْهِ» قَالَ هَمَّامٌ وَأَكْبَرُ عِلْمِي أَنَّ فِي حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُحَادَةَ فَإِذَا نَهَضَ نَهَضَ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ وَاعْتَمَدَ عَلَى فَخِذَيْهِ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to raise his hands when he said the takbeer in prayer, until his hands were level with his ears.  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ «إِذَا كَبَّرَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى يُحَاذِيَ بِهِمَا أُذُنَيْهِ»  

“A Woman was coerced (i.e., raped) during the time of Messenger of Allah ﷺ He waived the legal punishment for her and carried it out on the one who had attacked her, but he (the narrator) did not say that he rules that she should be given a bridal-money.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2598)  

«اسْتُكْرِهَتِ امْرَأَةٌ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَدَرَأَ عَنْهَا الْحَدَّ وَأَقَامَهُ عَلَى الَّذِي أَصَابَهَا وَلَمْ يُذْكَرْ أَنَّهُ جَعَلَ لَهَا مَهْرًا»  

[Machine] "I saw the Prophet ﷺ placing his nose on the ground along with his forehead when he prostrated."  

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَاضِعًا أَنْفَهُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مَعَ جَبْهَتِهِ إِذَا سَجَدَ»  

[Machine] "He came to the Prophet ﷺ and saw him placing his nose along with his forehead in prostration."  

«أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَرَآهُ يَضَعُ أَنْفَهُ مَعَ جَبْهَتِهِ فِي السُّجُودِ»  

[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ praying, and I noticed the mark of his nose along with his forehead in the thick hair.  

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى فَرَأَيْتُ أَثَرَ أَنْفِهِ مَعَ جَبْهَتِهِ فِي الْكَثِيفِ»  

[Machine] I used to shake hands with the Prophet ﷺ or his skin would touch mine, and after three times, my hand would become more fragrant than musk.  

«لَقَدْ كُنْتُ أُصَافِحُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَوْ يَمَسُّ جِلْدِي جِلْدَهُ فَأَتَعَرَّقُهُ فِي يَدَيَّ بَعْدَ ثَالِثَةٍ أَطْيَبَ رِيحًا مِنَ الْمِسْكِ»  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to instruct to bury hair and nails.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «كَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِدَفْنِ الشَّعْرِ وَالْأَظْفَارِ»  

[Machine] When my father arrived at the Prophet ﷺ , he saw him placing his right hand on his left hand and raising his hands with each takbeer.  

لَمَّا قَدِمَ أَبِي عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ «رَآهُ يَضَعُ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ مَعَ كُلِّ تَكْبِيرَةٍ»  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to prostrate with his hands placed on the ground.  

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَسْجُدُ بَيْنَ كَفَّيْهِ»  

[Machine] "When the Prophet ﷺ started the prayer, he would raise his hands and place his right hand over his left hand and hold them together."  

أَنَّهُ «رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ وَوَضَعَ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى وَيَحْبِسُ كَفَّيْهِ»  

[Machine] The Prophet, ﷺ , used to raise his hands while making the Takbeer during prayer.  

«كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ مَعَ التَّكْبِيرِ»  

[Machine] "I saw the Prophet ﷺ placing his right hand on his left and when he sat down, he rested his left leg and placed his arms on his thighs, pointing with his index finger."  

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَضَعُ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى وَإِذَا جَلَسَ افْتَرَشَ رِجْلَهُ الْيُسْرَى وَوَضَعَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ عَلَى فَخِذَيْهِ وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ»  

[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ start the prayer by saying the takbeer, raising his hands, then taking his left hand with his right hand. When he wanted to bow, he said the takbeer, raised his hands, placed his palms on his knees, and spread his fingers. When he raised his head, he said the takbeer and raised his hands. When he prostrated, he placed his forehead between his palms, and straightened his fingers and toes. When he raised up, he raised his left leg and straightened his right leg and when he sat down, he placed his left hand on his left thigh and his right elbow on his right thigh, and closed his middle finger and the one next to it, and clenched the thumb, and pointed with his index finger to make his supplication.  

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ وَكَبَّرَ وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ شِمَالَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ كَبَّرَ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ فَوَضَعَ رَاحَتَيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ وَفَرَّجَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ فَلَمَّا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ كَبَّرَ وَرَفَعَ فَلَمَّا سَجَدَ وَضَعَ جَبِينَهُ بَيْنَ كَفَّيْهِ وَنَصَبَ أَصَابِعَ رِجْلَيْهِ فَلَمَّا رَفَعَ ثَنَّى رِجْلَهُ الْيُسْرَى وَنَصَبَ أَصَابِعَ رِجْلَهِ الْيُمْنَى فَلَمَّا جَلَسَ وَضَعَ كَفَّهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُسْرَى وَوَضَعَ مِرْفَقَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَعَقَدَ الْخِنْصَرَ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا وَحَلَّقَ بِالْوُسْطَى وَالْإِبْهَامِ وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ يَدْعُو بِهَا»  

[Machine] I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I will memorize the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." When he began the prayer, he raised his hands until they were level with his ears, then he took his left hand with his right hand. When he said the takbeer for ruku', he also raised his hands as he did for the takbeer of the prayer. When he bowed, he placed his hands on his knees. When he raised his head from ruku', he also raised his hands. When he sat for the tashahhud, he rested his left foot on the ground and sat on it, placing his left palm on his left thigh and his right forearm on his right thigh, making a ring with his fingers using his thumb and middle finger, and then he raised his other hand and made du'a with it.  

صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ لَأَحْفَظَنَّ صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمَّا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ كَبَّرَ وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى حَاذَتَا بِأُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ شِمَالَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ فَلَمَّا كَبَّرَ لِلرُّكُوعِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ أَيْضًا كَمَا رَفَعَهُمَا لِتَكْبِيرَةِ الصَّلَاةِ فَلَمَّا رَكَعَ وَضَعَ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ فَلَمَّا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ أَيْضًا فَلَمَّا قَعَدَ يَتَشَهَّدُ افْتَرَشَ رِجْلَهُ الْيُسْرَى بِالْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ قَعَدَ عَلَيْهَا فَوَضَعَ كَفَّهُ الْأَيْسَرَ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُسْرَى وَوَضَعَ مِرْفَقَهُ الْأَيْمَنَ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَى ثُمَّ عَقَدَ أَصَابِعَهُ وَجَعَلَ حَلْقَةً بِالْإِبْهَامِ وَالْوُسْطَى ثُمَّ جَعَلَ يَدْعُو بِالْأُخْرَى  

[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ, then he raised his hands during prayer when saying the takbeer, then he raised his hands when saying "Sami Allahuliman hamidah", then he sat and rested his left foot, and placed his left hand on his left knee, and put his right forearm on his right thigh, then he pointed with his index finger and placed his thumb on his middle finger, and wrapped them with the rest of his fingers, then he prostrated and his hands were level with his ears.  

رَمَقْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ حِينَ كَبَّرَ ثُمَّ حِينَ كَبَّرَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا قَالَ «سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ فَافْتَرَشَ رِجْلَهُ الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ الْيُسْرَى وَوَضَعَ ذِرَاعَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَى ثُمَّ أَشَارَ بِسَبَّابَتِهِ وَوَضَعَ الْإِبْهَامَ عَلَى الْوُسْطَى وَحَلَّقَ بِهَا وَقَبَضَ أَصَابِعَهُ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ وَكَانَتْ يَدَاهُ حَذْوَ أُذُنَيْهِ»  

[Machine] I said, "I will look at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and see how he prays." So I looked at him, and he said the takbeer (Allahu Akbar) and raised his hands until they reached his ears. Then he placed his right hand on the back of his left hand, between his wrist and forearm. Then, when he wanted to bow, he raised his hands in the same manner and placed his hands on his knees. Then he raised his head and raised his hands in the same manner. Then he prostrated and placed his hands next to his ears. Then he sat and stretched his left leg and placed his left hand, with his right arm's elbow resting on his right thigh. Then he closed two of his fingers and made a ring, and then he raised his index finger, and I saw him moving it, supplicating with it. Then, after that, I came in a time when it was cold, and I saw people with most of their clothes moving their hands under their clothes." And the wording is from the hadith of Mu'awiyah ibn 'Amr.  

قُلْتُ «لَأَنْظُرَنَّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كَيْفَ يُصَلِّي فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَكَبَّرَ وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى حَاذَتَا بِأُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى ظَهْرِ كَفَّهِ الْيُسْرَى بَيْنَ الرُّسْغِ وَالسَّاعِدِ ثُمَّ لَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ مِثْلَهَا وَوَضَعَ يَدَيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ مِثْلَهَا ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَجَعَلَ كَفَّيْهِ حِذَاءَ أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَعَدَ وَافْتَرَشَ رِجْلَهُ الْيُسْرَى وَوَضَعَ كَفَّهُ الْيُسْرَى وَجَعَلَ حَدَّ مِرْفَقِهِ الْأَيْمَنِ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَى ثُمَّ قَبَضَ ثِنْتَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِعِهِ وَحَلَّقَ حَلْقَةً ثُمَّ رَفَعَ أُصْبُعَهُ وَرَأَيْتُهُ يُحَرِّكُهَا يَدْعُو بِهَا ثُمَّ جِئْتُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فِي زَمَانٍ فِيهِ بُرْدٌ فَرَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهِمْ جُلُّ الثِّيَابِ يُحَرِّكُ أَيْدِيهِمْ مِنْ تَحْتِ الثِّيَابِ» وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو  

[Machine] "He prayed with the Prophet ﷺ, and when he made takbeer, he raised his hands. When he prostrated, he rested his forearms on his thighs. When he sat down, he stretched out his left leg and placed his left hand on his left thigh, and placed his right hand on his right thigh, and he gestured with his tasbih." The wording is according to a hadith narrated by Muslim.  

«أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمَّا أَنْ كَبَّرَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَمَّا أَنْ سَجَدَ جَافَى عَضُدَيْهِ عَنْ إِبْطَيْهِ وَلَمَّا أَنْ قَعَدَ افْتَرَشَ رِجْلَهُ الْيُسْرَى وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُسْرَى وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَأَشَارَ بِمُسَبِّحَتِهِ» وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ مُسْلِمٍ  

[Machine] He informed me, so I said, "I will observe the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ how he prays." He then stood up and raised his hands until they were level with his ears. Then he took his left hand with his right hand, and when he intended to bow, he raised his hands until they reached level with his ears. Then he placed his palms on his knees. Then he raised his hands like that again. Then he prostrated, placed his hands next to his ears, and prostrated again, placing his hands next to his ears. Then he sat and stretched out his left leg and placed his left hand on his left knee, then he placed his right forearm on his right thigh, and closed his fist. Then I saw him say, "Thus (he demonstrated it) and raised his index finger."  

أَخْبَرَهُ قُلْتُ «لَأَنْظُرَنَّ إِلَى صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كَيْفَ يُصَلِّي فَقَامَ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى حَاذَتَا بِأُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ شِمَالَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ ثُمَّ حِينَ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى حَاذَتَا بِأُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَوَضَعَ يَدَيْهِ حِذَاءَ أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَوَضَعَ يَدَيْهِ حِذَاءَ أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَعَدَ فَافْتَرَشَ رِجْلَهُ الْيُسْرَى وَوَضَعَ كَفَّهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ وَضَعَ حَدَّ مِرْفَقَهُ الْأَيْمَنِ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَقَبَضَ ثِنْتَيْنِ وَحَلَّقَ حَلْقَةَ ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُهُ يَقُولُ هَكَذَا وَرَفَعَ زُهَيْرٌ أُصْبُعَهُ الْمُسَبِّحَةَ»  

[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , when he started the prayer, he raised his hands until they were level with his ears. And when he wanted to bow, after he raised up from bowing, and when he sat down, he placed his left foot upright and his right foot laid flat, and he placed his left hand on his left thigh while placing his right hand on his right thigh. And he clasped his fingers together, formed a circle, and pointed with his index finger like this."  

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى يُحَاذِيَ أُذُنَيْهِ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ وَبَعْدَمَا يَرْفَعُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ وَإِذَا جَلَسَ اضْطَجَعَ رِجْلَهُ الْيُسْرَى وَنَصَبَ الْيُمْنَى وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُسْرَى وَيَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَعَقَدَ ثِنْتَيْنِ وَحَلَّقَ حَلْقَةً وَأَشَارَ هَكَذَا بِالسَّبَّابَةِ»  

[Machine] "I said, 'I will watch how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prays.' So, he faced the qibla (direction of prayer) and raised his hands until they reached his ears. Then, he took his left hand with his right hand. When he wanted to bow, he raised them both like that, then placed his hands on his knees. When he raised his head from the bowing position, he raised them both like that. When he prostrated, he placed his head in that position in front of him.'"  

«قُلْتُ لَأَنْظُرَنَّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كَيْفَ يُصَلِّي فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى حَاذَتَا بِأُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ شِمَالَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ رَفَعَهُمَا مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ يَدَيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ فَلَمَّا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ رَفَعَهُمَا مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ فَلَمَّا سَجَدَ وَضَعَ رَأْسَهُ بِذَلِكَ الْمَنْزِلِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ»  

[Machine] "I prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and when he said the takbeer, he raised his hands. When he wanted to bow, he raised his hands. And when he wanted to prostrate, he raised his hands. And when he sat for the tashahhud, he pointed with his index finger."  

«صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمَّا كَبَّرَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَكَانَ إِذَا جَلَسَ لِلتَّشَهُّدِ يُشِيرُ بِإِصْبَعِهِ السَّبَّابَةِ»  

[Machine] I said, "I will look at the prayer of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , how he prays." He stood up and faced the qibla, then he said the takbeer and raised his hands until they reached his ears. Then he placed his right hand over his left hand, and then he bowed and raised his hands until they reached his ears. Then he placed his palms on his knees, and raised his head and his hands until they reached his ears. Then he prostrated and placed his head between his palms, and then he prayed another rak'ah like the first one. Then he sat down and placed his left foot under him, and then he made supplication and placed his left hand on his left knee and his right hand on his right knee, and he supplicated with his index finger."  

قُلْتُ «لَأَنْظُرَنَّ إِلَى صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كَيْفَ يُصَلِّي فَقَامَ فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ فَكَبَّرَ وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى حَاذَى بِهِمَا أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَبَضَ بِالْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ فَحَاذَى بِهِمَا أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ فَحَاذَى بِهِمَا أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَوَضَعَ رَأْسَهُ بَيْنَ كَفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَةً أُخْرَى مِثْلَهَا ثُمَّ جَلَسَ فَافْتَرَشَ رِجْلَهُ الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ دَعَا وَوَضَعَ كَفَّهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ الْيُسْرَى وَكَفَّهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَدَعَا بِالسَّبَّابَةِ»  

[Machine] "I saw the Prophet ﷺ strike with his right hand on his left during prayer."  

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ ضَرَبَ بِيَمِينِهِ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ»  

[Machine] "I prayed with the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and when he prostrated, he placed his left hand and raised his right hand."  

«صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمَّا سَجَدَ افْتَرَشَ الْيُسْرَى وَنَصَبَ الْيُمْنَى»  

[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ when he prostrated and placed his forehead between his hands.  

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ حِينَ سَجَدَ وَضَعَ جَبْهَتَهُ بَيْنَ كَفَّيْهِ»  

[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prostrating and raising his feet and describing them."  

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سَجَدَ وَنَصَبَ قَدَمَيْهِ وَصَفَّهُمَا»  

[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ leaning on one of his hands when he stood.  

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ إِذَا قَامَ اتَّكَأَ عَلَى إِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ»  

[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ when he started the prayer, he raised his hands equivalent to his ears.  

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ حِينَ افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَذْوَ أُذُنَيْهِ»  

I saw that the Prophet ﷺ placed his knees (on the ground) before placing his hands when he prostrated himself. And when he stood up, he raised his hands before his knees. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 838)  

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ إِذَا سَجَدَ وَضَعَ رُكْبَتَيْهِ قَبْلَ يَدَيْهِ وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ قَبْلَ رُكْبَتَيْهِ»  

[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ and his companions in the winter, and I saw them wearing Baranis and Aksiyahs, and their hands were in them, raising them up to their noses or chests.  

رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَأَصْحَابَهُ فِي الشِّتَاءِ فَرَأَيْتُهُمْ فِي الْبَرَانِسِ وَالْأَكْسِيَةِ وَأَيْدِيهُمْ فِيهَا يَرْفَعُونَها إِلَى نُحُورِهِمْ أَوْ قَالَ إِلَى صُدُورِهِمْ  

[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ with some hair, and he said, "A fly." So I went and took some of my hair and came back to him, and he asked me why I took some of my hair. I said, "I heard you saying 'fly' and I thought you were criticizing me." He said, "I did not criticize you, that's just how it is."  

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَلِي شَعْرٌ فَقَالَ «ذُبَابُ» فَذَهَبْتُ فَأَخَذْتُ مِنْ شَعْرِي ثُمَّ جِئْتُهُ فَقَالَ لِي «لِمَ أَخَذْتَ مِنْ شَعْرِكَ؟» قُلْتُ سَمِعْتُكَ تَقُولُ ذُبَابُ فَظَنَنْتُكَ تُعْيبُنِي فَقَالَ «مَا عَيَّبْتُكَ وَهَكَذَا أَحْسَنُ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ sent a man to collect charity. The man returned with a weak and frail camel. The Prophet ﷺ ascended the pulpit and praised and thanked Allah. Then he said, "I have sent my messenger to collect charity, and he came to so-and-so, the son of so-and-so, from the tribe of Fulani. He brought Dua'a's camel, which is weak and frail. May Allah not bless his camels." The news reached the Prophet ﷺ , so he called for the camel and it was brought to him. He ascended the pulpit, praised and thanked Allah, and then said, "Indeed, so-and-so, the son of so-and-so, from the tribe of Fulani informed him of the Prophet's ﷺ supplication. He brought this strong and healthy camel. May Allah bless him and his camels."  

بَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ رَجُلًا عَلَى الصَّدَقَةِ فَجَاءَ بِفَصِيلٍ مَخْلُولٍ سَيِّءِ الْحَالِ مَهْزُولٍ فَقَالَ هَذَا مِنْ صَدَقَةِ فُلَانِ ابْنِ فُلَانٍ الْفُلَانِيِّ فَصَعِدَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْمِنْبَرَ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِنِّي بَعَثْتُ رَسُولِي عَلَى الصَّدَقَةِ فَجَاءَ إِلَى فُلَانِ الرَّجُلِ دُعَاءُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَجَاءَ بِنَاقَةٍ كَوْمَاءَ يِتَلِّهَا حَتَّى انْتَهَى ابْنَ فُلَانٍ الْفُلَانِيِّ فَجَاءَ بِهَذَا الْفَصِيلِ الْمَحْلُولِ لَا بَارَكَ اللهُ فِي إِبِلِهِ» فَبَلَغَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِهَا فَتَلَّهَا إِلَيْهِ فَصَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِنَّ فُلَانَ ابْنَ فُلَانٍ الْفُلَانِيَّ بَلَغَهُ دُعَاءُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَجَاءَ بِهَذِهِ النَّاقَةِ الْكَوْمَاءِ بَارَكَ اللهُ فِيهِ وَفِي إِبِلِهِ»  

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Regret is repentance.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «النَّدَمُ تَوْبَةٌ»  

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ pronounced loudly 'Ameen'."  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ جَهَرَ بِآمِينَ»  

[Machine] I said, "I will look at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he used to say takbeer (Allahu Akbar) when he lowered his head and when he raised it, and he would raise his hands and give the salaam from his right and left."  

قُلْتُ «لَأَنْظُرَنَّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَانَ يُكَبِّرُ إِذَا خَفَضَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ وَيَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ وَيُسَلِّمْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ»
