Whenever Ibn ʿUmar intended to go to Mecca he used to oil himself with a sort of oil that had no pleasant smell, then he would go to the Mosque of Al-Hulaita and offer the prayer, and then ride. When he mounted well on his Mount and the Mount stood up straight, he would proclaim the intention of assuming Ihram, and he used to say that he had seen the Prophet ﷺ doing the same.

هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَفْعَلُ

Salamah bin Kuhail said “I saw Sa’id bin Jubair he called the iqamah at Al Muzdalifah and offered three ra’kahs of the sunset prayer and two ra’kahs of the night prayer. He then said “I attended Ibn ‘Umar.” He did like this in this place and he (Ibn ‘Umar) said “I attended the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ”. He did in a similar way in this place.

وَقَالَ شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَنَعَ مِثْلَ هَذَا فِي هَذَا الْمَكَانِ

"I heard Sa'eed bin Jubair say: 'I saw 'Abdullah bin 'Umar pray in Jam'; he made the Iqamah and prayed Maghrib, three Rak'ahs, then he prayed 'Isha', two Rak'ahs, then he said: 'This is what I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do in this place.'"

هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَصْنَعُ فِي هَذَا الْمَكَانِ

"Ibn 'Umar did not offer more than two rak'ahs when traveling, and he did not offer any prayer before or after that. It was said to him: 'What is this?' He said: 'This is what I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ doing.'"

هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَصْنَعُ

"This is what I saw the Messenger of Allah doing."

وَقَالَ هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُهُ

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَأْكُلُهُ»

هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ

سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى فِي نَعْلَيْهِ

[AI] "And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Give them permission.'"

وَقَالَ رَخَّصَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted them permission.

رَخَّصَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ

وَقَالَ «إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَّاهَا كَذَلِكَ»

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying towards his riding animal.

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي إِلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ»

[AI] And he said, "I have not left him since I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ kiss him."

وَقَالَ مَا تَرَكْتُهُ مُنْذُ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُقَبِّلُهُ»

[AI] "I saw the messenger of Allah ﷺ praying like this."

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي كَذَلِكَ»

“I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘The (funeral) prayer should be offered for a child.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1507)

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُهُ»

أَنَّ عَلِيًّا تَوَضَّأَ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا وَمَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَقَالَ مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى وُضُوءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَهَكَذَا

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution and wipe over his sandals."

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى نَعْلَيْهِ»

[AI] "I saw the Prophet ﷺ praying in his sandals."

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ»

[AI] I heard Anas ibn Malik saying, "This is how I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ doing."

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ «هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَصْنَعُ»

وَمَا يَمْنَعُنِي وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُهُ
