I helped the Prophet ﷺ in performing ablution and he passed his wet hands over his Khuffs and prayed.

وَضَّأْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ وَصَلَّى

"I saw Ibn ʿUmar praying while taking his camel as a Sutra in front of him and he said, "I saw the Prophet doing the same."

وَقَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَفْعَلُهُ

Whenever Ibn ʿUmar intended to go to Mecca he used to oil himself with a sort of oil that had no pleasant smell, then he would go to the Mosque of Al-Hulaita and offer the prayer, and then ride. When he mounted well on his Mount and the Mount stood up straight, he would proclaim the intention of assuming Ihram, and he used to say that he had seen the Prophet ﷺ doing the same.

هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَفْعَلُ

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in a single garment crossing the two ends.

رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ

هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَتَوَضَّأُ

وَقَالَ هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ تَوَضَّأَ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ prayed on a mat.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «صَلَّى عَلَى حَصِيرٍ»

Why do you put on the lower garment in this way? He replied: It is how I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4096)

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَأْكُلُهُ»

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wiping over his leather slippers (when doing wudoo’).

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ

‘Ali told me to wipe over the khuff (leather slippers).

أَنْ أَمْسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ

[AI] I saw the Prophet ﷺ praying in a single garment, wrapped around himself. He used it to protect himself from the extreme cold and intense heat of the ground.

رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ يَتَّقِي بِفُضُولِهِ بَرْدَ الْأَرْضِ وَحَرَّهَا

[AI] I saw Abu Al-Qasim doing it.

رَأَيْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ يَفْعَلُهُ

وَقَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَنَعَ هَكَذَا

"We prayed with Abdullah bin Mas'ud in his house. He stood between us and we placed our hands on our knees, but he took them off and made us interlace our fingers, and said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do that.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1030)

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَلَ هَذَا فَفَعَلْتُ

"This is what I saw the Messenger of Allah doing." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2932)

هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُ

Salamah bin Kuhail said “I saw Sa’id bin Jubair he called the iqamah at Al Muzdalifah and offered three ra’kahs of the sunset prayer and two ra’kahs of the night prayer. He then said “I attended Ibn ‘Umar.” He did like this in this place and he (Ibn ‘Umar) said “I attended the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ”. He did in a similar way in this place. رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَصْنَعُ مِثْلَ هَذَا فِي هَذَا الْمَكَانِ

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri narrated that he entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was performing prayer in a single garment, wrapping himself in it. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1048)

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا

[AI] "I saw the Prophet praying in a single garment with a separation between its two ends."

رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wiping over his leather slippers (when doing wudoo’). (Using translation from Aḥmad 216)

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْسَحُعَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed in his sandals.

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي نَعْلَيْهِ.

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in a pair of patched sandals.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْنِ مَخْصُوفَيْنِ.

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placing his right hand over his left in prayer.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَاضِعًا يَمِينَهُ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ.

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ eating chicken.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْكُلُ دَجَاجًا

[AI] I saw the sandals of your Prophet ﷺ worn out.

رَأَيْتُ نَعْلَ نَبِيِّكُمْ ﷺ مَخْصُوفَةً

The Prophet ﷺ led them in prayer during an eclipse of the sun, and we did not hear him say anything. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1495)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى فِي كُسُوفٍ فَلَمْ يُسْمَعْ لَهُ صَوْتٌ

[AI] I saw on the foot of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a worn-out sandal.

رَأَيْتُ فِي رِجْلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ نَعْلًا مَخْصُوفَةً

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ wiped my head.

مَسَحَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى رَأْسِي

[AI] "He saw on the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a pair of worn-out sandals."

أَنَّهُ رَأَى عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ نَعْلَيْنِ مَخْصُوفَتَيْنِ

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , prayed in the caravans."

رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلُّوا فِي الرِّحَالِ

[AI] "He saw the Prophet, ﷺ , wiping over the socks."

أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ

"I saw the Prophet ﷺ wiping over the Khuff and the Khimar." [1] A head covering not limited to the common usage of "turban" as is clear from the first narration. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 104)

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَعَلَى الْخِمَارِ

وَقَالَ «رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُهُ»

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ»

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُشْتَمِلًا بِهِ»

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying towards his riding animal.

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي إِلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ»

[AI] "I saw the messenger of Allah ﷺ praying like this."

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي كَذَلِكَ»

"The Prophet wiped over the Khuff and the Khimar." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 101)

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ مَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ»

[AI] "Allow me to wear my sandals so that he may wear them and pray in them, saying, 'I have seen the Prophet of Allah, ﷺ , praying in my sandals.'"

نَاوِلْنِي نَعْلِي فَيَنْتَعِلُ وَيُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ وَيَقُولُ «رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ»

[AI] "I saw my father wiping over his shoes, so I said, 'Do I wipe over them too?' He replied, 'I saw the Prophet doing it.'"

رَأَيْتُ أَبِي «يَمْسَحُ عَلَى النَّعْلَيْنِ» فَقُلْتُ أَتَمْسَحُ عَلَيْهَا؟ فَقَالَ «رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَفْعَلُهُ»

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution and wipe over his sandals."

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى نَعْلَيْهِ»

[AI] "That the Prophet ﷺ prayed in his sandals."

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى فِي نَعْلَيْهِ»
