[Machine] "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while I was in rags. He asked, 'Do you have any wealth?' I replied, 'Yes.' He asked, 'What kind of wealth?' I said, 'All kinds, Allah has blessed me with camels, slaves, and sheep.' He said, 'When Allah bestows wealth upon you, let it be apparent.' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what if a man comes to live with me and does not show me any kindness or conjoin me, but when he leaves, he compensates me for what he has done?' He replied, 'No, refuse it.' Abu Al-Ahwas Awf bin Malik bin Nadlah was his father, and he was a companion."
[Machine] He came to the Prophet ﷺ and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw him in the appearance of a Bedouin, dusty, and with disheveled hair. The Prophet ﷺ said, "What do you have of wealth?" He replied, "I have been given all kinds of wealth by Allah." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, when Allah bestows a favor upon a servant, He loves to see its signs in them."
[Machine] We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Battle of Banu Anmar. While I was descending beneath a tree, suddenly the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, come to the shade." So, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came down and Jabir said, "I then went to gather some grass for us, and I found a worn-out camel rug among it, so I broke it and brought it close to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Where did you get this from?" I said, "We brought it, O Messenger of Allah, from Al-Madinah." Jabir said, "We have a companion with us whom we are preparing for, so he can take care of our needs." He said, "So, I prepared it for him, then he turned while hiding during the hottest part of the day, wearing two worn-out sheets that he inherited." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then looked at him and said, "Doesn't he have any other clothes besides these two?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, he has two clothes for the time of hardship which I dressed him in." He said, "Let him call him, and instruct him to wear them." So, I called him, and he wore them. Then, he proceeded to leave while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Doesn't he strike his neck out for the sake of Allah? Isn't this better?" The man heard this and said, "O Messenger of Allah, in the path of Allah." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "In the path of Allah." So, the man was killed in the path of Allah.

[Machine] While we were traveling with the Prophet ﷺ , a man came on his riding animal and started striking right and left. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever has extra provisions, should count them for those who do not have any provisions. And whoever has extra belongings, should count them for those who do not have any belongings." Then he mentioned various types of wealth until we realized that none of us had any surplus.

‘Umar b. al-Khattab saw a silken suit sold at the gate of the mosque. He said: Messenger of Allah, would that you purchase this suit and wear it on Friday and on the occasion when a delegation (from the outside) comes to you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: One who has no share in the afterlife will put on this (suit). Afterwards suits of similar nature were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He gave ‘Umar b. al-Khattab one of these suits. ‘Umar said: Messenger of Allah, you are giving it to me for use while you had told me such-and-such about the suit of ‘Utarid (I.e. sold by ‘Utarid). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I did not give it to you that you should wear it. Hence ‘Umar gave it to his brother who was a disbeliever at Mecca for wearing. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1076)
