6. Meccans (6/16)

[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placing his face between the Black Stone and the door.
[Machine] It is said that his name is Abdullah ibn Safwan and he had a trial in Islam but he was righteous. He was a friend of Abbas. When the day of the conquest of Mecca arrived, he came with his father to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, make him pledge allegiance to migration." But he refused and said, "There is no migration." Then he went to Abbas, who was in the place of drawing water, and said, "O Abu Al-Fadl, I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with his father to make him pledge allegiance to migration, but he refused." Abbas then stood up and there was no cloak on him. Abbas said, "O Messenger of Allah, you know the difference between me and so-and-so, and he came to you with his father for you to make him pledge allegiance to migration, but you refused." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, there is no migration." Abbas said, "I swear to you that you will pledge allegiance to him." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ extended his hand and said, "Give me your right hand, I have cleared my uncle's oath and migration."

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ conquered Mecca, I said (to myself): I shall put on my clothes, and my house lay on the way, I shall watch how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ behaves. So I went out. I saw that the Prophet ﷺ and his Companions had come out from the Ka'bah and embraced the House (the Ka'bah) from its entrance (al-Bab) to al-Hatim. They placed their cheek on the House (the Ka'bah) while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was amongst them. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1898)

6.88 [Machine] The delegation of Abdullah bin Abdul Qais, on behalf of the Prophet (PBUH)
[Machine] "From the delegation of Abd al-Qays, they heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'O Allah, make us among Your chosen servants, the adorned, the accepted delegation.' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, who are the chosen servants of Allah?' He said, 'They are the righteous servants of Allah.' They said, 'And who are the adorned?' He said, 'Those whose places of purification become white.' They said, 'And who are the accepted delegation?' He said, 'A delegation that comes from this Ummah with their Prophet to their Lord, blessed and exalted be He.'"

6.89 [Machine] Nasr bin Dahar al-Aslami, about the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
[Machine] Ma'iz ibn Khālid ibn Mālik came to us as a man from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He confessed to committing adultery, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to stone him. We took him to the open space of the Bani Niyar tribe and stoned him. When he felt the pain of the stones, he became extremely distressed. After we finished with him and returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , we mentioned his distress to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Why didn't you leave him?"

So he descended and hurried towards the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and recited the poem [the sea of Rajz]: 'By Allah, if it weren't for Allah, we would not have been rightly guided, believed, or prayed. Verily, when a people transgress against us and intend to harm us, We descend tranquility upon them And keep our feet firm if we encounter them'."

"O Allah, bless my nation in their early mornings (i.e., what they do early in the morning)." (Hasan)He said: "When he sent out a raiding party or an army, he would send them at the beginning of the day." He said: (1) "Sakhr was a man engaged in trade, and he used to send his goods out at the beginning of the day, and his wealth grew and increased." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2236)

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Allah, bless my nation in their early mornings." He ﷺ used to send out reconnaissance missions at the beginning of the day. There was a wealthy man named Sakhrah who was a merchant and had servants. He used to send out his servants at the beginning of the day. His wealth increased to the point that he did not know where to put it.

6.91 [Machine] The rest of the conversation with the delegation of Abdul Qais.
[Machine] He heard some delegation from the tribe of Abdul-Qais saying, "We have come to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he was very pleased with our arrival. When we finished meeting with the people, they made way for us and we sat down. The Prophet ﷺ greeted us and prayed for us. Then he looked at us and said, 'Who is your leader and your chief?' So we pointed to Mujdhir ibn A'idhah. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Is this the one with the scar?' And this was the first day on which he was given this name by being struck on the face with the hoof of a camel. We said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' Then some of the people missed us and their belongings were delayed. So their riding animals and provisions were gathered and their defect was removed. The Prophet ﷺ took off their travel clothes and they wore their good clothes. Then he turned to the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ extended his leg and supported himself. When Mujdhir approached him, the people made room for him and said, 'Here, O Mujdhir.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Sit here, O Mujdhir,' and he sat on the right side of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ greeted him and treated him kindly, and he asked him about his land and named a village for him, Safa and Mushaqar, and other villages of migration. Then he said, 'By my father and mother, O Messenger of Allah, you are better acquainted with the names of our villages than us.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Indeed, I have traversed your lands and it was extensive for me.' He said, 'Then he turned to the Ansar and said, 'O people of the Ansar, honor your brothers, for they are similar to you in Islam. The most similar thing to you is a poet. They embraced Islam willingly, not by force or compulsion. When a people refused to embrace Islam, they were killed.' He said, 'When they became the next day, he said, 'How did you find the hospitality of your brothers and their welcoming of you?' They said, 'The best of brothers are the ones who are generous, they made their homes available to us, they provided us with the best food, they slept and woke us up, and they taught us the Book of our Lord, the Blessed and Exalted, and the Sunnah of our Prophet ﷺ.' The Prophet ﷺ was pleased and happy with this, and then he approached us one by one, and each of us presented what we had learned and taught. Some of us knew the greetings, the mother of the Book, and the Surah, the two Surahs, and the Sunnah. Then he approached us with his face and said, 'Do you have anything of your provisions with you?' The people were happy with this and began to present their provisions. Each of them brought handfuls of dates and put them on a piece of

I saw the people tying their wrappers over their necks like children due to the narrowness of the wrappers behind the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) during prayer. Someone said: Body of women, do not raise your heads until the men raise (their heads). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 630)

A journey undertaken in the morning or evening (fond Jihad) in the way of Allah (will merit a reward) better than the world and all that is in it. (Using translation from Muslim 1881b)

6.93 [Machine] Hakim ibn Hazam, about the Prophet (PBUH)
Hakim asked (the Prophet): Messenger of Allah, a man comes to me and wants me to sell him something which is not in my possession. Should I buy it for him from the market? He replied: Do not sell what you do not possess. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3503)
I begged the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he gave me. I again begged, he again gave me. I again begged, he again gave me, and then said: This property is green and sweet; he who receives it with a cheerful heart is blessed in it, and he who receives it with an avaricious mind would not be blessed in it, he being like one who eats without being satished, and the upper hand is better thad the lower hand. (Using translation from Muslim 1035)
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ congratulated you on the good that has come to you before."
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'The two parties to a transaction have the choice so long as they have not separated. If they are honest and open, their transaction will be blessed, but if they tell lies and conceal anything, the blessing of their transaction will be lost." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4457)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best charity or the most virtuous charity is that which leaves you wealthy, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand. Begin with those who depend on you."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The upper hand is better than the lower hand, and let one of you start with those he is responsible for. The best charity is that which is given when one is still self-sufficient. Whoever seeks self-sufficiency, Allah will enrich him, and whoever seeks chastity, Allah will keep him chaste." So I said, "And who is it from you, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "From me." I said, "May my hand never be beneath the hand of an Arab man."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The prescribed punishments (Hudud) should not be carried out in mosques, and they should not be sought therein."
[Machine] The mosques do not recite poetry in them, and legal punishments are not carried out in them, and disputes are not resolved in them. My father said, "Hajjaj never lifted him up," meaning he did not elevate him.
6.94 [Machine] Muawiyah ibn Qura, about his father
I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a company of Muzainah and we swore allegiance to him. The buttons of his shirt were open. I swore allegiance to him and I put my hand inside the collar of his shirt and felt the seal. 'Urwah said: I always saw Mu'awiyah and his son opening their buttons of the collar during winter and summer. They never closed their buttons. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4082)
[Machine] "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and sought permission from him to put my hand in his bags. He used to pray for me, so what prevented him from me touching him when he would pray for me? He said: 'I found on the shoulder of him something like a bundle.'"
[Machine] "He came to the Prophet ﷺ , so the Prophet prayed for him and wiped his head."

[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ said about fasting for three days of the month, "Fasting these three days is equivalent to fasting the whole year, and breaking the fast of these days is also beneficial."
6.95 [Machine] The fast black
[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have praised my Lord, Most Blessed and Exalted, with praises and commendations, and I have praised only Him." He said, "Tell me what you praised your Lord with." So, I began to recite a poem I had composed, and a dark-skinned man came and asked for permission to enter. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Let him enter." Then, the man spoke for a while and left. I recited the poem again, and the man returned and asked for permission to enter. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Let him enter." This happened two or three times. Finally, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, who is this man that requests permission to speak to me?" He replied, "He is Umar ibn al-Khattab. He is a man who does not like falsehood."
[Machine] I said, O Messenger of Allah, should I not recite to you praises and thanks with which I praise my Lord, the Blessed and Exalted? He replied, Indeed, your Lord loves praise.
[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ was brought an captive, so he said, 'O Allah, I repent to You and not to Muhammad.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'He recognized the truth for its people.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a detachment on the day of Hunayn and they fought against the polytheists until they killed them and their descendants. When they returned, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked them, "What made you kill their descendants?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah, they were the children of the polytheists." He said, "But are your children any different? By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, every child is born on the Fitrah (natural inclination towards monotheism) until his tongue expresses it."
[Machine] "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and fought with him. I was hit in the back, and on that day people were killing until they even killed children. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Why do people go to such an extreme in killing today that they even kill children?' A man said, 'O Messenger of Allah! They are the children of the polytheists.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Indeed, the best of you are the sons of the polytheists.' Then he said, 'Do not kill children, do not kill children.' He said, 'Every child is born on the Fitrah (innate nature) until his tongue expresses itself, and his parents make him a Jew or a Christian.'"
[Machine] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have praised my Lord, the Blessed and Exalted, with praises and commendations, and also praised you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, your Lord, the Exalted, loves praises. Bring forth whatever praises you have for your Lord, the Exalted." So I began to recite them. Then a man, blind, bald, with a maimed right hand and a maimed left hand, entered. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to listen attentively to him. Abu Salamah described for us how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ listened attentively to him. He said, "He listened to him as he had listened to a gobbling of a young camel. The man entered and spoke for an hour, then he left. Then I recited my praises again. After some time, the man returned and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to listen attentively to him once again. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, who is the one that you listen attentively to?' He said, 'This is a man who does not love falsehood. This is Umar ibn al-Khattab.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Fasting three days of every month is fasting for a lifetime, and their sunset is the breaking of the fast."
[Machine] A man used to come to the Prophet ﷺ with his son. The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Do you love him?" The man replied, "O Messenger of Allah, may Allah love you as I love him." The Prophet ﷺ then lost the child and asked, "What happened to the son of so-and-so?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah, he passed away." The Prophet ﷺ said to his father, "Do you not want to find him waiting for you at the gate of Paradise whenever you enter?" A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah, is this specific to him or for all of us?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "No, it is for all of you."

"We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and we were young men close in age. He let us stay with him for twenty days. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was merciful and compassionate, and he thought that we were missing our families; he asked us about those whom we had left behind of our families, so we told him, and he said: 'Go back to your families, stay with them and teach them. Tell them when the time for prayer comes; let one of you call the Adhan and let the oldest of you lead the prayer.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 635)
