ahmad:15573Hushaym > Abū Bishr > Yūsuf b. Māhak > Ḥakīm b. Ḥizām

Hakim asked (the Prophet): Messenger of Allah, a man comes to me and wants me to sell him something which is not in my possession. Should I buy it for him from the market? He replied: Do not sell what you do not possess. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3503)

ahmad:15574Sufyān > al-Zuhrī > ʿUrwah And Saʿīd b. al-Musayyib Yaqūlān > Ḥakīm b. Ḥizām

I begged the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he gave me. I again begged, he again gave me. I again begged, he again gave me, and then said: This property is green and sweet; he who receives it with a cheerful heart is blessed in it, and he who receives it with an avaricious mind would not be blessed in it, he being like one who eats without being satished, and the upper hand is better thad the lower hand. (Using translation from Muslim 1035)

ahmad:15575Sufyān > Hishām from his father > Ḥakīm b. Ḥizām

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ congratulated you on the good that has come to you before."

ahmad:15576Ismāʿīl b. Ibrāhīm > Saʿīd > Qatādah > Abū al-Khalīl > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥārith al-Hāshimī > Ḥakīm b. Ḥizām

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'The two parties to a transaction have the choice so long as they have not separated. If they are honest and open, their transaction will be blessed, but if they tell lies and conceal anything, the blessing of their transaction will be lost." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4457)

ahmad:15577Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > ʿAmr b. ʿUthmān > Mūsá b. Ṭalḥah > Ḥakīm b. Ḥizām

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best charity or the most virtuous charity is that which leaves you wealthy, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand. Begin with those who depend on you."

ahmad:15578Ibn Numayr > Hishām b. ʿUrwah from his father > Ḥakīm b. Ḥizām

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The upper hand is better than the lower hand, and let one of you start with those he is responsible for. The best charity is that which is given when one is still self-sufficient. Whoever seeks self-sufficiency, Allah will enrich him, and whoever seeks chastity, Allah will keep him chaste." So I said, "And who is it from you, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "From me." I said, "May my hand never be beneath the hand of an Arab man."

ahmad:15579Wakīʿ > Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh al-Shuʿaythī > al-ʿAbbās b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman al-Madanī > Ḥakīm b. Ḥizām

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The prescribed punishments (Hudud) should not be carried out in mosques, and they should not be sought therein."

ahmad:15580Ḥajjāj > al-Shuʿaythī > Zufar b. And Thīmah > Ḥakīm b. Ḥizām

[Machine] The mosques do not recite poetry in them, and legal punishments are not carried out in them, and disputes are not resolved in them. My father said, "Hajjaj never lifted him up," meaning he did not elevate him.
