Abdullah ibn AbuBakr reported that he heard Urwah say: I entered upon Marwan ibn al-Hakam. We mentioned things that render the ablution void. Marwan said: Does it become void by touching the penis? Urwah replied: This I do not know. Marwan said: Busrah daughter of Safwan reported to me that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: He who touches his penis should perform ablution.

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever touches his private part, let him perform Wudu'.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'If anyone of you touches his penis, let him perform ablution.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'If anyone of you touches his penis, then he has to perform ablution.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَعَلَيْهِ الْوُضُوءُ

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Whoever touches his sexual organ then let him perform ablution."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Whoever touches his sexual organ, let him perform ablution.'"

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يَتَوَضَّأُ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ»

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Whoever is silent, he is saved.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ صَمَتَ نَجَا»

[AI] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The example of my Ummah (nation) is like a palm tree and its mention."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَثَلُ أُمَّتِي فَذَكَرَهُ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever forgets a prayer, let him perform it when he remembers it.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 696)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلَاةً فَلْيُصَلِّهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say. . . He then mentioned the tradition to the same effect. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4492)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ

[AI] I entered the mosque in Damascus and saw people gathered and a sheikh speaking to them. I asked, "Who is this?" They said, "He is Sahl ibn al-Hanzaliyyah." I heard him saying, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever eats meat, let him perform ablution.'"

دَخَلْتُ مَسْجِدَ دِمَشْقَ فَرَأَيْتُ أُنَاسًا مُجْتَمِعِينَ وَشَيْخًا يُحَدِّثُهُمْ قُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا سَهْلُ ابْنُ الْحَنْظَلِيَّةِ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَكَلَ لَحْمًا فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever starts hostility."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ بَدَا جَفَا

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say. . . He then mentioned the tradition to the same effect. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4492)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ فَذَكَرَهُ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Every intoxicant is prohibited."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «كُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ۔»

This tradition has also been transmitted by Sa'd (b. Abi Waqqas) from the Prophet ﷺ in a similar manner through a different chain of narrators. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1470)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Whoever touches his sexual organ then let him perform ablution." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 481)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ

[AI] "He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he mentioned it."

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَهُ

"When the Messenger of Allah wanted to sleep and he was sexually impure, he would perform ablution as for prayer." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 584)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say. . . He then mentioned the tradition to the same effect. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4492)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ

[AI] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying something similar to that.

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلَا يُصَلِّ حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ

[AI] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution." Uruwah disapproved, so he asked Busrah, who affirmed it.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ» فَأَنْكَرَ عُرْوَةُ فَسَأَلَ بُسْرَةَ فَصَدَّقَتْهُ

[AI] The translation of the given Arabic sentence into English is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'A believer is forgiven.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الْمُؤْمِنُ مُكَفَّرٌ»

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever touches his private part, let him perform Wudu'.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 444)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ فَلْيُعِدِ الْوُضُوءَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution (wudu) for prayer."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «تَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ» وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

دَخَلْتُ مَسْجِدَ دِمَشْقَ فَرَأَيْتُ نَاسًا مُجْتَمِعِينَ وَشَيْخًا يُحَدِّثُهُمْ فَقُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا سَهْلُ ابْنُ الْحَنْظَلِيَّةِ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ أَكَلَ لَحْمًا فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts, let him perform ablution."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ if a person in a state of janabah can sleep? He said, "He should perform ablution for prayer."

سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ الْجُنُبِ يَنَامُ؟ قَالَ «يَتَوَضَّأُ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever forgets a prayer, let him perform it when he remembers it.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 696)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلَاةً فَلْيُصَلِّهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا»

[AI] She heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "A man should perform ablution from touching his private parts."

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يَتَوَضَّأُ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ»

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Whoever touches his sexual organ then let him perform ablution." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 481)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ فَلَا يُصَلِّي حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "If one of you feels something he should perform ablution."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'If anyone of you touches his penis, let him perform ablution.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 479)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you touches his private parts, or his female private parts, or his buttocks, then he should perform ablution (wudu)."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ أَوْ أُنْثَيَيْهِ أَوْ رُفْغَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Whoever touches his private parts or his genitals or his buttocks, then he should perform ablution for prayer."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ أَوْ أُنْثَيَيْهِ أَوْ رُفْغَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts, let him perform ablution."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ أَوْ أُنْثَيَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution for prayer."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches their private parts, it is obligatory for them to perform ablution."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ وَجَبَ عَلَيْهِ الْوُضُوءُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches their private parts or their anus or their reproductive organs, should not pray until they perform ablution."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ رُفْغَهُ أَوْ أُنْثَيَيْهِ أَوْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلَا يُصَلِّي حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts must perform ablution." Urwah said, "So I asked Busrah, and she confirmed it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ» قَالَ عُرْوَةُ فَسَأَلْتُ بُسْرَةَ فَصَدَّقَتْهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you touches his private parts, let him perform ablution."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "If one of you touches his private parts, then let him perform ablution."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»
