51. Companionship of Women
٥١۔ كِتَابُ عِشْرَةِ النِّسَاءِ
[Machine] He asked the Prophet ﷺ , "Can one of us sleep while in a state of impurity?" He replied, "Wash your private parts, then perform ablution, and then sleep."
أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَيَنَامُ أَحَدُنَا وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ؟ قَالَ «اغْسِلْ ذَكَرَكَ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأْ وَنَمْ»
"Umar mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he became Junub at night, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Perform Wudu' and wash you penis, then sleep.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 260)
ذَكَرَ عُمَرُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ تُصِيبُهُ جَنَابَةٌ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «تَوَضَّأْ وَاغْسِلْ ذَكَرَكَ ثُمَّ نَمْ»
"Umar mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he became Junub at night, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Perform Wudu' and wash you penis, then sleep.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 260)
أَنَّ عُمَرَ ذَكَرَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ تُصِيبُهُ الْجَنَابَةُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ «لِيَتَوَضَّأْ وَلْيَغْسِلْ ذَكَرَهُ وَلْيَنَمْ»
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked: Can a man go to sleep when he is junub? He said: ʿYes, if he does wudoo’.ʿ (Using translation from Aḥmad 105)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سُئِلَ أَيَرْقُدُ الرَّجُلُ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ»
"O Messenger of Allah! May any one of us sleep while he is Junub?" He said: "When he performs Wudu'." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 259)
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيَنَامُ أَحَدُنَا وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ؟ قَالَ «يَتَوَضَّأُ»
[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, can one of us sleep while in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity)?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If any of you intends to do so, let him perform ablution."
يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيَرْقُدُ أَحَدُنَا وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَلِكَ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»
'Umar bin Khattab said to the Messenger of Allah: "can anyone of us sleep if he is sexually impure?" He said: "Yes, if he performs ablution." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 585)
أَنَّ عُمَرَ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَيَرْقُدُ أَحَدُنَا وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ؟» قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ»
[Machine] Ibn Umar had an impurity, so he came to Umar and mentioned it to him. Umar then went to the Prophet ﷺ and consulted him. He said, "Perform ablution and go to sleep."
أَصَابَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ جَنَابَةٌ فَأَتَى عُمَرَ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَأَتَى عُمَرُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَاسْتَأْمَرَهُ فَقَالَ «يَتَوَضَّأُ وَيَرْقُدُ»
[Machine] He asked the Messenger of Allah, may ﷺ , "Can one of us sleep while in a state of janaba (impurity)?". In the hadith of Nafi', he said, "Let him perform ablution and then sleep." And in the hadith of Abu Qilabah, he said, "Let him perform ablution for prayer and then sleep."
أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيَنَامُ أَحَدُنَا وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ؟» فِي حَدِيثِ نَافِعٍ قَالَ «فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ ثُمَّ لِيَنَمْ» وَفِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ «فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ لِيَنَمْ»
[Machine] That Umar asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , "Can any of us sleep while in a state of impurity?" He commanded him to wash his private parts and perform ablution.
أَنَّ عُمَرَ سَأَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيَنَامُ أَحَدُنَا وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ؟ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَغْسِلَ فَرْجَهُ وَيَتَوَضَّأَ»
ʿUmar asked the Prophet ﷺ "Can anyone of us sleep while he is Junub?" He replied, "Yes, if he performs ablution." (Using translation from Bukhārī 289)
سَأَلَ عُمَرُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيَنَامُ أَحَدُنَا وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ؟» قَالَ «نَعَمْ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ»
Can one of us sleep if he is junub? He said: ʿYes, if he does wudoo’ as for prayer.ʿ It was narrated from Ibn ʿUmar that ʿUmar asked the Prophet ﷺ... a similar hadeeth. (Using translation from Aḥmad 235)
أَنَّ عُمَرَ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيَنَامُ أَحَدُنَا وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ؟» قَالَ «نَعَمْ يَتَوَضَّأُ وَيَنَامُ»
Can one of us sleep if he is junub? He said: ʿYes, if he does wudoo’ as for prayer.ʿ It was narrated from Ibn ʿUmar that ʿUmar asked the Prophet ﷺ... a similar hadeeth. (Using translation from Aḥmad 235)

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Can one of us sleep while he is in a state of janabah (impurity after sexual intercourse)?" He replied, "Yes, but he should perform ablution (wudu)."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَهُ «أَيَنَامُ أَحَدُنَا وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ؟» قَالَ «نَعَمْ وَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»
"O Messenger of Allah! May any one of us sleep while he is Junub?" He said: "When he performs Wudu'." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 259)
أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيَنَامُ أَحَدُنَا وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ»
[Machine] "To eat, sleep, or drink while in a state of impurity, one should perform ablution (wudu) for the purpose of prayer."
أَنْ يَأْكُلَ أَوْ يَنَامَ أَوْ يَشْرَبَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»
[Machine] To eat, sleep, or drink while being in a state of major ritual impurity, one must perform ablution for the prayer.
أَنْ يَأْكُلَ أَوْ يَنَامَ أَوْ يَشْرَبَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»
[Machine] If he wants to sleep or eat, then he should perform ablution, his ablution being for prayer.
أَنْ يَنَامَ أَوْ يَطْعَمَ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»
