51. Companionship of Women

٥١۔ كِتَابُ عِشْرَةِ النِّسَاءِ

51.86 [Machine] Taking a woman's expenditure from her husband's money without his permission and mentioning the disagreement between Al-Zuhri and Hisham in the wording of the news of Hind in that.

٥١۔٨٦ أَخْذُ الْمَرْأَةِ نَفَقَتَهَا مِنْ مَالِ زَوْجِهَا بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِ وَذِكْرُ اخْتِلَافِ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَهِشَامٍ فِي لَفْظِ خَبَرِ هِنْدٍ فِي ذَلِكَ

Hind came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy person. Is there any harm to me if I spend on his dependants from his property without his permission ? The Prophet ﷺ replied: There is no harm to you if you spend according to the custom. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3533)  

الكبرى للنسائي:٩١٤٦أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

جَاءَتْ هِنْدٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ مُمْسِكٌ فَهَلْ عَلَيَّ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ أَنْفَقَ عَلَى عِيَالِهِ مِنْ مَالِهِ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَا حَرَجَ عَلَيْكِ أَنْ تُنْفِقِي عَلَيْهِمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ»

Hind bint ʿUtba said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Abu Sufyan is a miser and he does not give me what is sufficient for me and my children. Can I take of his property without his knowledge?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "Take what is sufficient for you and your children, and the amount should be just and reasonable. (Using translation from Bukhārī 5364)   

الكبرى للنسائي:٩١٤٧أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ هِشَامٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ هِنْدَ بِنْتَ عُتْبَةَ قَالَتْ

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَلَيْسَ يُعْطِينِي مَا يَكْفِينِي وَوَلَدِي إِلَّا مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ لَا يَعْلَمُ قَالَ «خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ»
