Zainab bint Jahsh used to boast to the other wives of the Prophet and say: "Allah married me to him from above the Heavens." And the Verse of Hijab was revealed concerning her. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3252)

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ كَانَتْ زَيْنَبُ تَفْخَرُ عَلَى نِسَاءِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّ اللهَ أَنْكَحَنِي مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَفِيهَا نَزَلَتْ آيَةُ الْحِجَابِ

[AI] It reached Safiyyah that Hafsah had said, “Daughter of a Jew.” So she wept, and the Prophet ﷺ entered upon her while she was weeping. He said, “What makes you weep?” She said, “Hafsah said to me, ‘Daughter of a Jew.’” The Prophet ﷺ said, “You are indeed the daughter of a prophet, your uncle is a prophet, and you are under a prophet—so what can she boast over you about?” Then he said, “Fear Allah, O Hafsah.”

بَلَغَ صَفِيَّةَ أَنَّ حَفْصَةَ قَالَتْ «ابْنَةُ يَهُودِيٍّ فَبَكَتْ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَهِيَ تَبْكِي» فَقَالَ «مَا يُبْكِيكِ؟» قَالَتْ قَالَتْ لِي حَفْصَةُ ابْنَةُ يَهُودِيٍّ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنَّكِ لَابْنَةُ نَبِيٍّ وَإِنَّ عَمَّكِ نَبِيٌّ وَإِنَّكِ لَتَحْتَ نَبِيٍّ فَبِمَ تَفْخَرُ عَلَيْكِ؟» ثُمَّ قَالَ «اتَّقِي اللهَ يَا حَفْصَةُ»
