1. Purification (1/7)
١۔ كِتَابُ الطَّهَارَةِ ص ١
When anyone amongst you wakes up from sleep, he must not put his hand in the utensil till he has washed it three times, for he does not know where his hand was during the night. (Using translation from Muslim 278a)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنْ نَوْمِهِ فَلَا يَغْمِسْ يَدَهُ فِي وَضُوئِهِ حَتَّى يَغْسِلَهَا ثَلَاثًا فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي حَيْثُ بَاتَتْ يَدُهُ»
1.3 [Machine] The Siwak When It Is Taken Out at Night.
١۔٣ السِّوَاكُ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ
Whenever the Prophet ﷺ got up at night, he used to clean his mouth with Siwak. (Using translation from Bukhārī 245)
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ «يَشُوصُ فَاهُ بِالسِّوَاكِ»
1.4 [Machine] How does he extract?
١۔٤ كَيْفَ يَسْتَاكُ
"I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was using the Siwak, and the end of the Siwak was on his toungue, and he was saying, "'A','a'." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3)
دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَسْتَنُّ وَطَرَفُ السِّوَاكِ عَلَى لِسَانِهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ «عَأْ عَأْ»
1.5 [Machine] Encouragement in siwak
١۔٥ التَّرْغِيبُ فِي السِّوَاكِ
ʿThe siwak is cleansing to the mouth and pleasing to the Lordʿ (Using translation from Aḥmad 7)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «السِّوَاكُ مَطْهَرَةٌ لِلْفَمِ مَرْضَاةٌ لِلرَّبِّ»
1.6 [Machine] Increasing the use of Miswak
١۔٦ الْإِكْثَارُ فِي السِّوَاكِ
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I have indeed urged you with regard to the Siwak.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 6)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «قَدْ أَكْثَرْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي السِّوَاكِ»
1.7 [Machine] License during evening in Ramadan
١۔٧ الرُّخْصَةُ فِي السِّوَاكِ بِالْعَشِيِّ لِلصَّائِمِ
The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»
1.8 [Machine] The Siwak at all times.
١۔٨ السِّوَاكُ فِي كُلِّ حِينٍ
"What would the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do as soon as he entered the house?" She replied: "(He would use) the siwak." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 51)
قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ يَبْدَأُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ؟ قَالَتْ بِالسِّوَاكِ
1.9 [Machine] Does the Imam judge in the presence of his congregation?
١۔٩ هَلْ يَسْتَاكُ الْإِمَامُ بِحَضْرَةِ رَعِيَّتِهِ؟
"I came to the Prophet ﷺ when he was using the Siwak and with me were two men of the Ash'aris - one on my right and the other on my left - who were seeking to be appointed as officials. I said: 'By the One Who sent you as a Prophet with the truth, they did not tell me why they wanted to come with me and I did not realize that they were seeking to be appointed as officials.' And I could see his Siwak beneath his lip, then it slipped and he said: 'We do not' - or; 'We will never appoint as an official anyone who seeks that. Rather you should go.'" So he sent his (Abu Musa) to Yemen, then he sent Mu'adh bin Jabal to go after him - may Allah be pleased with them. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4)
دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَمَعِي رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الْأَشْعَرِيِّينَ أَحَدُهُمَا عَنْ يَمِينِي وَالْآخَرُ عَنْ يَسَارِي وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْتَاكُ فَكِلَاهُمَا سَأَلَ الْعَمَلَ قُلْتُ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ مَا أَطْلَعَانِي عَلَى مَا فِي أَنْفُسِهِمَا وَمَا شَعَرْتُ أَنَّهُمَا يَطْلُبَانِ الْعَمَلَ فَكَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى سِوَاكِهِ تَحْتَ شَفَتِهِ قَلَصَتْ قَالَ «إِنَّا لَا أَوْ لَنْ نَسْتَعْمِلَ عَلَى عَمِلْنَا مَنْ أَرَادَهُ»
1.10 [Machine] The number of Fitrah
١۔١٠ عَدَدُ الْفِطْرَةِ
"The Fitrah are five: Circumcision, shaving the pubes, plucking the armpit hairs, clipping the nails and taking from the mustache." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 11)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْفِطْرَةُ خَمْسٌ الْخِتَانُ وَحَلَقُ الْعَانَةِ وَنَتْفُ الْإِبْطِ وَتَقْلِيمُ الْأَظْفَارِ وَحَلْقُ الشَّارِبِ
The Prophet ﷺ said "Five things are in accordance with Al Fitra (i.e. the tradition of prophets): to be circumcised, to shave the pelvic region, to pull out the hair of the armpits, to cut short the moustaches, and to clip the nails.' (Using translation from Bukhārī 6297)
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ الْفِطْرَةُ خَمْسٌ الِاخْتِتَانُ وَالِاسْتِحْدَادُ وَقَصُّ الشَّارِبِ وَتَقْلِيمُ الْأَظَافِرِ وَنَتْفُ الْإِبْطِ
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The Fitrah are five: Trimming the mustache, plucking the armpit hairs, clipping the nails, removing the pubes, and circumcision.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 10)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «خَمْسٌ مِنَ الْفِطْرَةِ قَصُّ الشَّارِبِ وَنَتْفُ الْإِبْطِ وَتَقْلِيمُ الْأَظَافِرِ وَالِاسْتِحْدَادُ وَالْخِتَانُ»
"The deeds connected to the Fitrah are: Clipping the nails, removing the mustache and shaving the pubes." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 12)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الْفِطْرَةُ قَصُّ الْأَظْفَارِ وَحَلْقُ الْعَانَةِ وَأَخْذُ الشَّارِبِ»
1.11 [Machine] The command to keep the mustaches and shave the beards.
١۔١١ الْأَمْرُ بِإِحْفَاءِ الشَّوَارِبِ وَإِعْفَاءِ اللِّحَى
The Apostle of Allah ﷺ said: Trim closely the moustache, and let the beard grow. (Using translation from Muslim 259a)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «أَحْفُوا الشَّوَارِبَ وَأَعْفُوا اللِّحَى»
1.12 [Machine] Trimming the mustache
١۔١٢ قَصُّ الشَّارِبِ
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever does not trim his mustache, he is not from one of us.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 13)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ لَمْ يَأْخُذْ مِنْ شَارِبِهِ فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا»
1.13 [Machine] The timing at that time.
١۔١٣ التَّوْقِيتُ فِي ذَلِكَ
"A time limit was set for us, by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, regarding trimming the mustache, clipping the nails and plucking the pubes; we were not to leave that for more than forty days," on one occasion he said: "Forty nights." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 14)
وُقَّتَ لَنَا فِي قَصِّ الشَّارِبِ وَتَقْلِيمِ الْأَظْفَارِ وَحَلَقِ الْعَانَةِ وَنَتْفِ الْإِبْطِ أَنْ لَا نَتْرُكَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا وَقَالَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً
1.14 [Machine] Separation according to necessity's will
١۔١٤ الْإِبْعَادُ عِنْدَ إِرَادَةِ الْحَاجَةِ
"Bring me (water for) Wudu'." So I brought him (water for) Wudu', and he performed Wudu' and wiped over his Khuffs. The Shaikh [1] said: "Isma'il (one of the narrators) is Ibn Ja'far bin Abi Kathir Al-Qari. [1] Meaning the author, and it appears that Ibn As-Sunni who heard the text, said this. أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا ذَهَبَ الْمَذْهَبَ أَبَعْدَ قَالَ فَذَهَبَ لِحَاجَتِهِ وَهُوَ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ فَقَالَ «ائْتِنِي بِوَضُوءٍ» فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِوَضُوءٍ «فَتَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ»
"I went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to an isolated area, and when he wanted to relieve himself he moved far away." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 16)
«خَرَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى الْخَلَاءِ وَكَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ الْحَاجَةَ أَبَعْدَ»
1.15 [Machine] The license to abandon it
١۔١٥ الرُّخْصَةُ فِي تَرَكَ ذَلِكَ
"I was walking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he came to some people's garbage dump and urinated while standing up. I turned to go away, but he called me back (to conceal him), and I was just behind him. Then when he had finished, he performed Wudu' and wiped over his Khuffs." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 18)
«كُنْتُ أَمْشِي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَانْتَهَى إِلَى سُبَاطَةِ قَوْمٍ فَبَالَ قَائِمًا فَتَنَحَّيْتُ عَنْهُ فَدَعَانِي فَكُنْتُ عِنْدَ عَقِبِهِ حَتَّى فَرَغَ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ»
1.16 [Machine] The saying when entering the restroom
١۔١٦ الْقَوْلُ عِنْدَ دُخُولِ الْخَلَاءِ
Whenever the Prophet ﷺ went to the lavatory, he used to say: "Allahumma inni aʿudhu bika min al-khubuthi wal khaba'ith." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6322)
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلَاءَ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ»
1.17 [Machine] Prohibition of Facing the Qibla, and of Turning to it when Necessary, and the Command to Face the East and the West.
١۔١٧ النَّهْيُ عَنِ اسْتِقْبَالِ الْقِبْلَةِ، وَعَنِ اسْتِدْبَارِهَا عِنْدَ الْحَاجَةِ، وَالْأَمْرُ بِاسْتِقْبَالِ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ
"Do not face towards the Qiblah nor turn your backs toward it when defecating or urinating, rather face toward the east or the west." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 21)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَا تَسْتَدْبِرُوهَا لِغَائِطٍ وَلَا بَوْلٍ وَلَكِنْ شَرِّقُوا أَوْ غَرِّبُوا»
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When any one of you goes to defecate, let him not face toward the Qiblah, rather let him face towards the east or the west.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 22)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَائِطَ فَلَا يَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَكِنْ لِيُشَرِّقْ أَوْ لِيُغَرِّبْ»
1.18 [Machine] The license in that in the houses
١۔١٨ الرُّخْصَةُ فِي ذَلِكَ فِي الْبُيُوتِ
I ascended the roof of the house and saw the Apostle of Allaah ( sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) sitting on two bricks facing Jerusalem (Bait al-Maqdis) for relieving himself. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 12)
«لَقَدِ ارْتَقَيْتُ عَلَى ظَهَرِ بَيْتِنَا فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى لَبِنَتَيْنِ مُسْتَقْبِلَ بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ لِحَاجَتِهِ»
1.19 [Machine] The license is valid in the urine.
١۔١٩ الرُّخْصَةُ فِي الْبَوْلِ قَائِمًا
It was narrated from Hudhifah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺcame to some people's garbage dump and urinated while standing. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 26)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «مَشَى إِلَى سُبَاطَةِ قَوْمٍ فَبَالَ قَائِمًا»
It was narrated from Hudhifah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺcame to some people's garbage dump and urinated while standing. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 26)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «أَتَى سُبَاطَةَ قَوْمٍ فَبَالَ قَائِمًا»
1.20 [Machine] Al-Bawl Jalisan
١۔٢٠ الْبَوْلُ جَالِسًا
"Whoever tells you that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ urinated standing up, do not believe him, for he would not urinate except while squatting." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 29)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَالَ قَائِمًا فَلَا تُصَدِّقُوهُ مَا كَانَ يَبُولُ إِلَّا جَالِسًا»
1.21 [Machine] Urine covering up/being covered by something.
١۔٢١ الْبَوْلُ إِلَى الشَّيْءِ يَسْتَتِرُ بِهِ
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us with a small leather shield in his hand. He put it down, then he sat behind it and urinated toward it. Some of the people said: 'Look, he is urinating like a woman.' He heard that and said: 'Do you not know what happened to the companion of the Children of Israel? If they got any urine on themselves they would clip that part of their garments off. Their companion told them not to do that and he was punished in his grave.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 30)
خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَفِي يَدِهِ كَهَيْئَةِ الدَّرَقَةِ فَوَضَعَهَا ثُمَّ جَلَسَ فَبَالَ إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ انْظُرُوا يَبُولُ كَمَا تَبُولُ الْمَرْأَةُ فَسَمِعَهُ فَقَالَ «أَوَمَا عَلِمْتَ مَا أَصَابَ صَاحِبَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ كَانُوا إِذَا أَصَابَهُمْ شَيْءٌ مِنَ الْبَوْلِ قَطَعُوهُ بِالْمَقَارِيضِ فَنَهَاهُمْ فَعُذِّبَ فِي قَبْرِهِ»
1.22 [Machine] Going out for a walk
١۔٢٢ التَّنَزُّهُ مِنَ الْبَوْلِ
Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by two graves and said, "Both of them (persons in the grave) are being tortured, and they are not being tortured for a major sin. This one used not to save himself from being soiled with his urine, and the other used to go about with calumnies (among the people to rouse hostilities, e.g., one goes to a person and tells him that so-and-so says about him such-and-such evil things). The Prophet ﷺ then asked for a green leaf of a date-palm tree, split it into two pieces and planted one on each grave and said, "It is hoped that their punishment may be abated till those two pieces of the leaf get dried." مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى قَبْرَيْنِ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُمَا يُعَذَّبَانِ وَمَا يُعَذَّبَانِ فِي كَبِيرٍ أَمَّا هَذَا فَكَانَ لَا يَسْتَنْزِهُ مِنْ بَوْلِهِ وَأَمَّا هَذَا فَكَانَ يَمْشِي بِالنَّمِيمَةِ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِعَسِيبٍ رَطْبٍ فَشَقَّهُ بِاثْنَيْنِ فَغَرَسَ عَلَى هَذَا وَاحِدًا وَعَلَى هَذَا وَاحِدًا ثُمَّ قَالَ «لَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يُخَفَّفَ عَنْهُمَا مَا لَمْ يَيْبَسَا»
1.23 [Machine] Prohibition of taking the male organ with the right hand when urinating
١۔٢٣ النَّهْيُ عَنْ أَخْذِ الذَّكَرِ بِالْيَمِينِ عِنْدَ الْبَوْلِ
"When any one of you urinates, let him not hold his penis in his right hand." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 24)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا بَالَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَأْخُذْ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ»
When anyone amongst you enters the privy he should not touch his penis with his right hand. (Using translation from Muslim 267b)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْخَلَاءَ فَلَا يَمَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ»
1.24 [Machine] Disgust in urine in the burrow
١۔٢٤ الْكَرَاهِيَةُ فِي الْبَوْلِ فِي الْجُحْرِ
"None of you should urinate into a burrow in the ground." They said to Qatadah: "Why is it disliked to urinate into a burrow in the ground?" He said: "It is said that these are dwelling-places of the jinn." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 34)
«لَا يَبُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي جُحْرٍ» قِيلَ لِقَتَادَةَ وَمَا يُكْرَهُ مِنَ الْبَوْلِ فِي الْجُحْرِ؟ قَالَ يُقَالُ إِنَّهَا مَسَاكِنُ الْجِنِّ
1.25 [Machine] Urinating in the container
١۔٢٥ الْبَوْلُ فِي الْإِنَاءِ
"The Prophet ﷺ had a vessel made from a date tree in which he would urinate and place it under the bed." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 32)
كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ «قَدَحٌ مِنْ عِيدَانٍ يَبُولُ فِيهِ وَيَضَعُهُ تَحْتَ السَّرِيرِ»
1.26 [Machine] The Prophet's noble admonition about urinating in stagnant water.
١۔٢٦ ذِكْرُ نَهْيِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنِ الْبَوْلِ فِي الْمَاءِ الرَّاكِدِ
The Messenger of Allah forbade urinating into standing water. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 343)
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ «نَهَى عَنِ الْبَوْلِ فِي الْمَاءِ الرَّاكِدِ»
1.27 [Machine] Aversion in Urine in the Bathroom
١۔٢٧ الْكَرَاهِيَةُ فِي الْبَوْلِ فِي الْمُسْتَحَمِّ
"None of you should urinate in the place where he bathes, for most Waswas (devilish whispers) [1] come from that." [1] I.e., with regard to whether the urine has soiled his body or not. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 36)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَبُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي مُسْتَحَمِّهِ فَإِنَّ عَامَّةَ الْوَسْوَاسِ مِنْهُ»
1.28 [Machine] Peace be upon those who urinate.
١۔٢٨ السَّلَامُ عَلَى مَنْ يَبُولُ
It was narrated from Al-Muhajir bin Qunfudh that he greeted the Prophet ﷺ with Salam while he was urinating, and he did not return the greeting until he had performed Wudu'. When he had performed Wudu' he returned the greeting. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 38)
أَنَّهُ «سَلَّمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَبُولُ فَلَمْ يُرِدَّ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى تَوَضَّأَ فَلَمَّا تَوَضَّأَ رَدَّ عَلَيْهِ»
1.29 [Machine] The prohibition for those who have performed ablution to speak
١۔٢٩ النَّهْيُ لِلْمُتَغَوِّطَيْنِ أَنْ يَتَحَدَّثَا
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Two should not go out to relieve themselves and sit with their private parts exposed, for Allah dislikes that."
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَا يَخْرُجُ اثْنَانِ إِلَى الْغَائِطِ فَيَجْلِسَانِ كَاشِفَيْنِ عَنْ عَوْرَتِهِمَا فَإِنَّ اللهَ يَمْقُتُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ»
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ forbade the two people wearing lipsticks to speak because Allah dislikes that.
«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْمُتَغَوِّطَيْنِ أَنْ يَتَحَدَّثَا فَإِنَّ اللهَ يَمْقُتُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ»
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: When two persons go together for relieving themselves uncovering their private parts and talking together, Allah, the Great and Majestic, becomes wrathful at this (action). Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated only by 'Ikrimah b. 'Ammar. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 15)
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يَخْرُجُ الرَّجُلَانِ عَلَى الْغَائِطِ كَاشِفَيْنِ عَنْ عَوْرَتَيْهِمَا يَتَحَدَّثَانِ فَإِنَّ اللهَ يَمْقُتُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ»
1.30 [Machine] The Prohibition of Seeking Blessing through Bones and Pieces of Wood
١۔٣٠ ذِكْرُ نَهْيِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنِ الِاسْتِطَابَةِ بِالْعَظْمِ وَالرَّوَثِ "
It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade cleaning oneself with bones or dung. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 39)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «نَهَى أَنْ يَسْتَطِيبَ أَحَدُكُمْ بِعَظْمٍ أَوْ رَوْثٍ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not cleanse yourselves with dung or bones, for they are provisions for your brothers from among the jinn."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَسْتَنْجُوا بِالرَّوْثِ وَلَا بِالْعِظَامِ فَإِنَّهَا زَادُ إِخْوَانِكُمْ مِنَ الْجِنِّ»
1.31 [Machine] The prohibition of shaking hands with the right hand according to the Prophet’s ﷺ teachings
١۔٣١ ذِكْرُ نَهْيِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنِ الِاسْتِطَابَةِ بِالْيَمِينِ
[Machine] To face the Qibla with feces or urine or to clean ourselves with our oaths or to suffice with less than three stones.
أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ أَوْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا أَوْ نَكْتَفِي بِأَقَلِّ مِنْ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ»
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whenever anyone of you drinks water, he should not breathe in the drinking utensil, and whenever anyone of you goes to a lavatory, he should neither touch his penis nor clean his private parts with his right hand." (Using translation from Bukhārī 153)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا شَرِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَتَنَفَّسْ فِي إِنَائِهِ وَإِذَا أَتَى الْخَلَاءَ فَلَا يَمَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ وَلَا يَتَمَسَّحْ بِيَمِينِهِ»
1.32 [Machine] The Mastery of Crafting with Three Stones, Excluding Others
١۔٣٢ الِاجْتِزَاءُ فِي الِاسْتِطَابَةِ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ دُونَ غَيْرِهَا
"When any one of you goes to the Gha'it (toilet to defecate), let him take with him three stones and clean himself with them, for that will suffice him." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 44)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا ذَهَبَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَائِطَ فَلْيَذْهَبْ مَعَهُ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ فَلْيَسْتَطِبْ بِهَا فَإِنَّهَا تُجْزِئُ عَنْهُ»
1.33 [Machine] Self-sufficiency in obtaining two stones
١۔٣٣ الِاكْتِفَاءُ فِي الِاسْتِطَابَةِ بِحَجَرَيْنِ
"The Prophet ﷺ wanted to defecate, and he told me to bring him three stones. I found two stones and looked for a third, but I could not find any, so I picked up a piece of dung and brought them to the Prophet ﷺ. He took the two stones and three away the dung and said: "This is Riks." Abu 'Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasai') said: Riks is the food of the jinn. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 42)
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ يَقُولُ أَتَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْغَائِطَ وَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ آتِيَهُ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ فَوَجَدْتُ الْحَجَرَيْنِ وَالْتَمَسْتُ الثَّالِثَ فَلَمْ أَجِدْهُ فَأَخَذْتُ رَوْثَةً فَأَتَيْتُ بِهِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَخَذَ الْحَجَرَيْنِ وَأَلْقَى الرَّوْثَةَ وَقَالَ «هَذِهِ رِكْسٌ»
1.34 [Machine] License in single stone quarrying
١۔٣٤ الرُّخْصَةُ فِي الِاسْتِطَابَةِ بِحَجَرٍ وَاحِدٍ
"When you perform Wudu', sniff water in your nose and blow it out, and when you use small stones (to remove filth), then make it off (numbered)." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 89)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا تَوَضَّأْتَ فَاسْتَنْثِرْ وَإِذَا اسْتَجْمَرْتَ فَأَوْتِرْ»
"When you clean yourselves (with stones, after defecating), use an odd number." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 43)
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا اسْتَجْمَرْتَ فَأَوْتِرْ»
1.35 [Machine] Hydration with Water
١۔٣٥ الِاسْتِطَابَةُ بِالْمَاءِ
"Tell your husbands to clean themselves with water, for I am too shy to tell them myself. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do that." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 46)
أَنْ يَسْتَطِيبُوا بِالْمَاءِ فَإِنِّي أَسْتَحْيِيهِمْ مِنْهُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ»
"When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would go to the toilet, I and another boy like me would bring a small leather vessel of water and he would clean himself with water." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 45)
سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلَاءَ أَحْمِلُ أَنَا وَغُلَامٌ مَعِي نَحْوِي إِدَاوَةً مِنْ مَاءٍ فَيَسْتَنْجِي بِالْمَاءِ»
1.36 [Machine] Wiping the hand on the ground after using the bathroom
١۔٣٦ دَلْكُ الْيَدِ بِالْأَرْضِ بَعْدَ الِاسْتِنْجَاءِ
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ performed Wudu', and when he had performed Istinja' he rubbed his hand on the ground. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 50)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «تَوَضَّأَ فَلَمَّا اسْتَنْجَى دَلَكَ يَدَهُ بِالْأَرْضِ»
1.37 [Machine] Mentioning what contaminates water and what doesn't contaminate it.
١۔٣٧ ذِكْرُ مَا يُنَجِّسُ الْمَاءَ، وَمَا لَا يُنَجِّسُهُ
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "Nothing can make water impure."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «الْمَاءُ لَا يُنَجِّسُهُ شَيْءٌ»
1.38 [Machine] Timing in Water
١۔٣٨ التَّوْقِيتُ فِي الْمَاءِ
The Prophet ﷺ, was asked about water (in desert country) and what is frequented by animals and wild beasts. He replied: When there is enough water to fill two pitchers, it bears no impurity. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 63)
سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْمَاءِ وَمَا يَنُوبُهُ مِنَ الدَّوَابِّ وَالسِّبَاعِ؟ فَقَالَ «إِذَا كَانَ الْمَاءُ قُلَّتَيْنِ لَمْ يُحْمَلِ الْخَبَثَ»
