6. Meccans (1/16)
[Machine] "My father married me in the Emirate of Uthman, and he invited some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Safwan ibn Umayyah, who was an elderly man, came and said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Mince the meat finely, as it tastes better and is more pleasant."' Sufyan replied, 'Is the doubt from me or from him?'"
[Machine] Abu Uthman narrated to us about it repeatedly and he mentioned that he had conveyed it to the Prophet ﷺ once.
[Machine] The passage says: "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ borrowed armor from someone on the day of Hunayn. The person said, 'Are you taking it by force, O Muhammad?' He replied, 'No, it is a guarantee.' Some of the armor got lost, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered to compensate for it. The person replied, 'I desire nothing today, O Messenger of Allah, more than Islam.'"
[Machine] So I said, "I will not go to my family until I meet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." I rode on my camel and went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, they claim that whoever does not migrate will perish." He said, "No, except for Abu Wahb. Go back to Abaatih in Makkah." He said, "While I was sleeping, a thief came and took my garment from under my head. I caught him and brought him to the Prophet ﷺ. I said, "He stole my garment." The Prophet ﷺ ordered that it be cut. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, this was meant as charity for him." He said, "Why didn't you give it to him before bringing him to me?"
"The Messenger of Allah gave to me on the Day of Hunain, and he was the most hated creature to me. But he did not stop giving to me until he was the most loved creature to me." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 666)
a man stole his Burdah, so he brought him before the Prophet, who ordered that his hand be cut off. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, I will let him have it." He said: "O Abu Wahb! Why didn't you do that before you brought him to me?" And the Messenger of Allah had (the man's) hand cut off. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4879)
[Machine] It was said to him, "You will not enter Paradise unless you migrate." He said, "I will not enter my house until I visit the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and ask him." So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, this man stole a garment from me." So the Prophet ﷺ ordered it to be cut. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I had already given it to him as a gift." He said, "Why didn't you mention it before bringing him to me?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, they say that one will not enter Paradise unless he migrates." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no migration after the conquest of Makkah, but there is jihad and intention. So if you are called for jihad, then respond."
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ, he said that the plague is a martyrdom, drowning is a martyrdom, stomach illness is a martyrdom, and childbirth is a martyrdom.
[Machine] He narrated it to us, meaning Abu Uthman repeatedly, and he narrated it once to the Prophet ﷺ.
[Machine] Safwan bin Umayyah saw me with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while I was taking meat off the bone with my hand. He said, "O Safwan, say 'Labbaik' (I am here in response to your call)." I said, "Labbaik." He said, "Bring the meat closer to you, for it is more pleasing and more beneficial."
[Machine] "I was sleeping in the mosque on my own shirt when it was stolen. So we took the thief and brought him to the Prophet ﷺ , who ordered his hand to be cut off. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, can I give him my shirt worth thirty dirhams as charity or sell it to him?' He replied, 'Why didn't you do that before bringing him to me?'"
6.2 [Machine] Musnad Hakim bin Hizam, from the Prophet ﷺ
Hakim asked (the Prophet): Messenger of Allah, a man comes to me and wants me to sell him something which is not in my possession. Should I buy it for him from the market? He replied: Do not sell what you do not possess. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3503)
"I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, a man is asking me to sell him something that I do not possess; Shall I sell it to him?' He said: 'Do not sell what is not with you."' (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2187)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited me from selling something that I do not possess. Ayub (one of the narrators) said, or he said (it was) a commodity that I do not have.
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'The two parties to a transaction have the choice so long as they have not separated. If they are honest and open, their transaction will be blessed, but if they tell lies and conceal anything, the blessing of their transaction will be lost." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4457)
"I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, a man is asking me to sell him something that I do not possess; Shall I sell it to him?' He said: 'Do not sell what is not with you."' (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2187)
[Machine] He informed him, saying, "I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I buy goods, so what is permissible for me from it and what is prohibited for me?' He said, 'When you buy a commodity, do not sell it until you possess it.'"
"The best of charity is that which is given when you are self-sufficient, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and start with those for whom you are responsible." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2534)
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you think of actions that I used to do during the time of ignorance, such as freeing a slave or maintaining family ties? Do I receive rewards for them?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "You have embraced Islam upon what has preceded of goodness."
[Machine] He informed me that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you think of things that I used to do in the pre-Islamic era?" He said, "You have embraced Islam for what you have done before, and repentance is the act of worship."
[Machine] "A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about which charity is the best. He replied, 'Charity given to the relative who is in need.'"
[Machine] I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for money, but he kept insisting. He said, "O Hakim, I do not deny your request, O Hakim. This money is green and sweet, yet it is still tainted by people's dirty hands. The hand of the giver is above the hand of the recipient, and the hand of the recipient is below the hand of the giver, while the lowest hand is that of the recipient."
The Messenger of Allah said: "The two parties to a transaction have the choice so long as they have not separated. If they are honest and open, their transaction will be blessed, but if they tell lies and conceal anything the blessing of their transaction will be lost." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4464)
[Machine] "Muhammad ﷺ was the most beloved man to me among the people during the time of ignorance. When he received prophethood and migrated to Medina, Hakim ibn Hizam witnessed the season (of buying and selling) while he was still a disbeliever. He found a necklace being sold, so he bought it for fifty dinars to give it as a gift to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He brought it to him in Medina and wanted to give it to him as a gift. However, the Prophet ﷺ refused and said, 'I thought that we do not accept anything from idolaters. But if you wish, I will buy it from you at its price.' So, I gave it to him when he insisted on paying for the gift."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The two parties of a transaction [buyer and seller] have the option to cancel the transaction as long as they have not separated. I found this statement in my book thrice: if they speak the truth and clarify the transaction, they will be blessed with profit. But if they lie and conceal [the truth], the blessings of their transaction will be lost."
The Prophet ﷺ said, "The buyer and the seller have the option of canceling or confirming the bargain unless they separate, and if they spoke the truth and made clear the defects of the goods, them they would be blessed in their bargain, and if they told lies and hid some facts, their bargain would be deprived of Allah's blessings." (Using translation from Bukhārī 2110)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The upper hand is better than the lower hand, and start with those who are under your responsibility. Whoever asks Allah for sufficiency, Allah will make him self-sufficient, and whoever seeks refuge with Allah, Allah will grant him refuge."
[Machine] Did not the Messenger of Allah ﷺ come to me or convey to me or as Allah willed from that, that you sell food? He said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do not sell food until you buy it and possess it.
6.3 [Machine] From the narration of Hisham bin Hakim bin Hazam.
[Machine] He passed by some people from the people of the covenant who were settled in the sun in Syria. He asked, "Who are these?" They replied, "They still owe some debt." He said, "I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection, Allah will punish those who torment people.'" He said, "And the leader of the people that day will be 'Umair ibn Sa'd in Palestine." He said, "So he went to him and informed him and let them go their way."
[Machine] He passed through the Sham and came across a group of people from the Nabataeans who were settled under the sun, so he mentioned their plight.
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Whoever tortures people in this world, Allah will torture him in the Hereafter." Umair said, "Leave them."
[Machine] Ayad ibn Ghanm, the owner of a house, was whipped when it was opened, so Hisham ibn Hakim intensified his words to him until Ayad became angry and stayed for nights.
‘Urwa bin Al Zubair said “Hisham bin Halim bin Hizam found a man who was the governor of Hims making some Copts stand in the sun for the payment of jizyah. He said “What is this?” I heard the Apostle ﷺ as saying “Allaah Most High will punish those who punish the people in this world.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3045)
[Machine] Hisham, what is this, O Ayyad? Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: Indeed, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, punishes those who torture people in the world.
[Machine] One of them to the worker: "What is this, O Fulan? I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , say: 'Indeed, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, punishes those who inflict punishment on people in this world.'"

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the indulgence in women on the day of victory."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibiting temporary marriage (mut'ah).
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When a boy reaches the age of seven, he is commanded to perform prayers. And when he reaches the age of ten, discipline should be enforced for it."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you prays, let him cover himself for his prayer, even if it is with an arrow."
"My father told me, from his father that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Do not perform prayer in the camels' resting-places, and perform prayer in the sheep's resting-places.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 770)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The covering of a man during prayer is like an arrow, so when any one of you prays, let him cover himself with an arrow."
[Machine] He said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from praying in the watering places of camels and allowed us to pray in the grazing areas for sheep, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from Mut'ah (temporary marriage).
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited temporary marriage with women. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2073)
[Machine] "We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Al-Madinah to perform the Farewell Pilgrimage. When we reached 'Usfan, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, 'Umrah has now entered into Hajj.' Suraqah bin Malik or Malik bin Suraqah asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, teach us a way to perform the ritual of a people as if they were born today, is it only for this year or forever?' He replied, 'Rather, it is forever.' When we reached Makkah, we performed the Tawaf around the Ka'bah and between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. Then, he commanded us to enjoy the women, so we returned to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, they have completed everything except for a specific time.' He said, 'So, do it.' So, I and my companion, both of us had cloaks, entered upon a woman and presented ourselves to her. She began looking at my companion's cloak, finding it better than mine, and looking at me, finding me more attractive than him. She said, 'A cloak in exchange for a cloak, and she chose me, so I married her with one cloak. I spent the night with her, then when morning came, I went to the mosque. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivering a sermon from the pulpit, in which he said, 'Whoever among you marries a woman for a specific time, let him give her what he has promised her, and he should not take anything back from what he has given her, and let him part ways with her. For indeed, Allah, the Most High, has made it forbidden upon you until the Day of Resurrection."

[Machine] "We went out with the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , during the year of the conquest. We stayed fifteen nights and days. He, ﷺ , allowed us to engage in pleasure. I, along with my cousin, went to the lower part of Mecca or perhaps the higher part of Mecca. We met a girl from the tribe of Banu 'Amir bin Sa'sa'a who appeared to be like a virgin with her youthful beauty. I was close to Dammam and I was wearing a cool, thick garment, while my cousin was wearing a thin one. We asked her if any of us could enjoy her company. She asked, 'Is that possible?' We said, 'Yes.' She then looked at my cousin, and I said to her, 'My garment is cool and thick, and my cousin's garment is thin but attractive.' She said, 'There is nothing wrong with your cousin's garment.' So, she allowed him to have pleasure with her. We did not leave Mecca until the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , made it forbidden."

[Machine] Narrated by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that he commanded them with Mut'ah (temporary marriage). I then delivered a sermon and a man married a woman. After three (encounters), I then met the Prophet ﷺ who forbade it more severely and spoke harsher words about it and prohibited it more vehemently.
"My father told me, from his father that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Do not perform prayer in the camels' resting-places, and perform prayer in the sheep's resting-places.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 770)
[Machine] "He said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ allowed us mut'ah (temporary marriage). So, I set out with a man who was older than me among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ. We met a girl from the Banu 'Amir tribe who appeared to be a virgin. We presented ourselves to her and she said, 'What will you give?' He said, 'Each one of us will give you my cloak.' He said, 'And my companion's cloak was better than mine, and I belonged to him in appearance.' She started looking at my companion's cloak and then she said, 'You and your cloak are enough for me.' So, I stayed with her three times. Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever has any woman among whom he has enjoyed himself, let him leave her.'"
