[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "If a funeral passes by you, whether it is of a Muslim, a Jew, or a Christian, stand up for it. We do not stand up for the deceased themselves, but rather for the angels who are with them." Layth (one of the narrators of the Hadith) mentioned this Hadith to Mujahid, who then said, "Abdullah ibn Sakhrabah Al-Azdi told me that we used to sit with Ali and wait for a funeral to pass by. Once another funeral passed by, we stood up. Ali asked, 'What causes you to stand up?' We said, 'This is what you have taught us, O companions of Muhammad.' Ali asked, 'And what is that?' I replied, 'Abu Musa claimed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If a funeral passes by you, whether it is of a Muslim, a Jew, or a Christian, stand up for it. We do not stand up for the deceased themselves, but rather for the angels who are with them." Ali said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never did this more than once for a man from the Jews who were people of the Book. He used to resemble them in appearance. Once he was forbidden, he never did it again.'"

One night, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arranged a marriage for us, and I noticed a place where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would seek seclusion. I wanted to find him, but he was not there. I went out searching for him, and suddenly a man from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked me what I was looking for. While we were in that situation, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ approached us. We said, 'O Messenger of Allah, you are in enemy territory, and we are worried about your safety. If only you had informed some of your companions, one of them would have accompanied you.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'I heard a sound like the grinding of a mill or the buzzing of bees, and an angel came to me from my Lord, offering me a choice. He asked me if I would like one-third of my nation to enter Paradise without any intercession, and I chose the intercession. I knew that it would be broader for them. Then he asked me if I would like half of my nation to enter Paradise without any intercession, and again I chose the intercession. I knew that it would be broader for them.' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah the Exalted to make us among the people of your intercession.' He supplicated for them. Then, those two men informed the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about what he had said. They started coming to him, saying, 'O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah the Exalted to make us among the people of your intercession.' He prayed for them. When the people became too many and crowded, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'This is for the one who dies while testifying that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah.'"
