Ibn ʿAbbas said: "Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon on the Day of Nahr, and said, 'O people! (Tell me) what is the day today?' The people replied, 'It is the forbidden (sacred) day.' He asked again, 'What town is this?' They replied, 'It is the forbidden (Sacred) town.' He asked, 'Which month is this?' They replied, 'It is the forbidden (Sacred) month.' He said, 'No doubt! Your blood, your properties, and your honor are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this (sacred) town (Mecca) of yours, in this month of yours.' The Prophet ﷺ repeated his statement again and again. After that he raised his head and said, 'O Allah! Haven't conveyed (Your Message) to them'. Haven't I conveyed Your Message to them?' " Ibn ʿAbbas added, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, the following was his will (Prophet's will) to his followers:--It is incumbent upon those who are present to convey this information to those who are absent Beware don't renegade (as) disbelievers (turn into infidels) after me, Striking the necks (cutting the throats) of one another.' "

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا قَالُوا يَوْمٌ حَرَامٌ قَالَ فَأَىُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا قَالُوا بَلَدٌ حَرَامٌ قَالَ فَأَىُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا قَالُوا شَهْرٌ حَرَامٌ قَالَ فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فَأَعَادَهَا مِرَارًا ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ اللَّهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَوَصِيَّتُهُ إِلَى أُمَّتِهِ فَلْيُبْلِغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ لاَ تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ

The Prophet ﷺ delivered to us a sermon on the Day of Nahr. He said, "Do you know what is the day today?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He remained silent till we thought that he might give that day another name. He said, "Isn't it the Day of Nahr?" We said, "It is." He further asked, "Which month is this?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said, "Isn't it the month of Dhul-Hijja?" We replied: "Yes! It is." He further asked, "What town is this?" We replied, "Allah and His Apostle know it better." He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said, "Isn't it the forbidden (Sacred) town (of Mecca)?" We said, "Yes. It is." He said, "No doubt, your blood and your properties are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this town of yours, till the day you meet your Lord. No doubt! Haven't I conveyed Allah's message to you? They said, "Yes." He said, "O Allah! Be witness. So it is incumbent upon those who are present to convey it (this information) to those who are absent because the informed one might comprehend it (what I have said) better than the present audience, who will convey it to him. Beware! Do not renegade (as) disbelievers after me by striking the necks (cutting the throats) of one another."

خَطَبَنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قَالَ أَتَدْرُونَ أَىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ أَىُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ فَقَالَ أَلَيْسَ ذُو الْحَجَّةِ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ أَىُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَتْ بِالْبَلْدَةِ الْحَرَامِ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا إِلَى يَوْمِ تَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ أَلاَ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ فَلْيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ فَرُبَّ مُبَلَّغٍ أَوْعَى مِنْ سَامِعٍ فَلاَ تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ

At Mina, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Do you know what is the day today?" The people replied, "Allah and His Apostle know it better." He said, "It is the forbidden (sacred) day. And do you know what town is this?" They replied, "Allah and His Apostle know it better." He said, "This is the forbidden (Sacred) town (Mecca). And do you know which month is this?" The people replied, "Allah and His Apostle know it better." He said, "This is the forbidden (sacred) month." The Prophet ﷺ added, "No doubt, Allah made your blood, your properties, and your honor sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours in this month of yours in this town of yours." Narrated Ibn ʿUmar: On the Day of Nahr (10th of Dhul-Hijja), the Prophet ﷺ stood in between the Jamrat during his Hajj which he performed (as in the previous Hadith) and said, "This is the greatest Day (i.e. 10th of Dhul-Hijjah)." The Prophet ﷺ started saying repeatedly, "O Allah! Be Witness (I have conveyed Your Message)." He then bade the people farewell. The people said, "This is Hajjat-al-Wadaʿ)."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِمِنًى أَتَدْرُونَ أَىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَقَالَ فَإِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ حَرَامٌ أَفَتَدْرُونَ أَىُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ بَلَدٌ حَرَامٌ أَفَتَدْرُونَ أَىُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ شَهْرٌ حَرَامٌ قَالَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا وَقَالَ هِشَامُ بْنُ الْغَازِ أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ؓ وَقَفَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ بَيْنَ الْجَمَرَاتِ فِي الْحَجَّةِ الَّتِي حَجَّ بِهَذَا وَقَالَ هَذَا يَوْمُ الْحَجِّ الأَكْبَرِ فَطَفِقَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ وَوَدَّعَ النَّاسَ فَقَالُوا هَذِهِ حَجَّةُ الْوَدَاعِ

from the Prophet ﷺ, he said: “Indeed, ˹calendar months˺ have returned to its original state, as it was on the day Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year is twelve months, of which four are sacred: three consecutive—Dhu al-Qa‘dah, Dhu al-Hijjah, and al-Muharram—and Rajab of Mudar, which is between the two Jumads and Sha‘ban.”

Then he said: “Which month is this?” We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He remained silent until we thought he would name it by a another name. He said: “Is it not Dhu al-Hijjah?” We said: Yes. He said: “Which land is this?” We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He remained silent until we thought he would name it by another name. He said: “Is it not the Baldah (Sacred Precinct)?” We said: Yes. He said: “Which day is this?” We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He remained silent until we thought he would name it by another name. He said: “Is it not the Day of Sacrifice?” We said: Yes.

He said: *“Indeed, your blood and your wealth” —Muhammad said, and I think he also said— “and your honor are sacred to one another, like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this land of yours, in this month of yours. And you will meet your Lord, and He will question you about your deeds. So do not return after me misguided, striking the necks of one another. Let the one who is present convey to the one who is absent, for perhaps some who are informed will comprehend it better than some who heard it.”

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: «إِنَّ الزَّمَانَ قَدِ اسْتَدَارَ كَهَيْئَةِ يَوْمِ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ، السَّنَةُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا، مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ، ثَلَاثَةٌ مُتَوَالِيَاتٌ: ذُو الْقَعْدَةِ، وَذُو الْحِجَّةِ، وَالْمُحَرَّمُ، وَرَجَبُ مُضَرَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ جُمَادَى وَشَعْبَانَ».

ثُمَّ قَالَ: «أَيُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا؟» قُلْنَا: اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ. فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ، قَالَ: «أَلَيْسَ ذُو الْحِجَّةِ؟» قُلْنَا: بَلَى. قَالَ: «فَأَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟» قُلْنَا: اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ. فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ، قَالَ: «أَلَيْسَ الْبَلْدَةَ؟» قُلْنَا: بَلَى. قَالَ: «فَأَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟» قُلْنَا: اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ. فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ، قَالَ: «أَلَيْسَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ؟» قُلْنَا: بَلَى.

قَالَ: «فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ» – قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ، وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ – «وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ، عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ، كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا، فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا، فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا. وَسَتَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ، فَسَيَسْأَلُكُمْ عَنْ أَعْمَالِكُمْ، أَلَا فَلَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي ضُلَّالًا، يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ. أَلَا، لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ، فَلَعَلَّ بَعْضَ مَنْ يُبَلَّغُهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَوْعَى لَهُ مِنْ بَعْضِ مَنْ سَمِعَهُ».

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Time has come back to its original state which it had on the day Allah created the Heavens and the Earth. The year is twelve months, four of which are sacred, three of them are in succession, namely Dhul-Qa'da, Dhul Hijja and Muharram, (the fourth being) Rajab Mudar which is between Juma'da (ath-thamj and Sha'ban. The Prophet ﷺ then asked, "Which month is this?" We said, "Allah and his Apostle know better." He kept silent so long that we thought that he would call it by a name other than its real name. He said, "Isn't it the month of Dhul-Hijja?" We said, "Yes." He said, "Which town is this?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He kept silent so long that we thought that he would call it t,y a name other than its real name. He said, "isn't it the town (of Mecca)?" We replied, "Yes." He said, "What day is today?" We replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He kept silent so long that we thought that he would call it by a name other than its real name. He said, "Isn't it the day of Nahr?" We replied, "Yes." He then said, "Your blood, properties and honor are as sacred to one another as this day of yours in this town of yours in this month of yours. You will meet your Lord, and He will ask you about your deeds. Beware! Do not go astray after me by cutting the necks of each other. It is incumbent upon those who are present to convey this message to those who are absent, for some of those to whom it is conveyed may comprehend it better than some of those who have heard it directly." (Muhammad, the sub-narrator, on mentioning this used to say: The Prophet then said, "No doubt! Haven't I delivered (Allah's) Message (to you)? Haven't I delivered Allah's message (to you)?"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الزَّمَانُ قَدِ اسْتَدَارَ كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ السَّنَةُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ثَلاَثٌ مُتَوَالِيَاتٌ ذُو الْقَعْدَةِ وَذُو الْحِجَّةِ وَالْمُحَرَّمُ وَرَجَبُ مُضَرَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ جُمَادَى وَشَعْبَانَ أَىُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ ذَا الْحِجَّةِ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ أَىُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ الْبَلْدَةَ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ فَأَىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ وَسَتَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ فَيَسْأَلُكُمْ عَنْ أَعْمَالِكُمْ أَلاَ فَلاَ تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي ضُلاَّلاً يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ أَلاَ لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ فَلَعَلَّ بَعْضَ مَنْ يَبْلُغُهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَوْعَى لَهُ مِنْ بَعْضِ مَنْ سَمِعَهُ وَكَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ إِذَا ذَكَرَهُ قَالَ صَدَقَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلاَ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ أَلاَ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ

The Prophet ﷺ said at Mina, "Do you know what day is today?" They (the people) replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better," He said "Today is 10th of Dhul-Hijja, the sacred (forbidden) day. Do you know what town is this town?" They (the people) replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "This is the (forbidden) Sacred town (Mecca a sanctuary)." And do you know which month is this month?" They (the People) replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, ''This is the Sacred (forbidden) month ." He added, "Allah has made your blood, your properties and your honor Sacred to one another (i.e. Muslims) like the sanctity of this day of yours in this month of yours, in this town of yours." (See Hadith No. 797, Vol. 2.)

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِمِنًى أَتَدْرُونَ أَىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ حَرَامٌ أَفَتَدْرُونَ أَىُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ بَلَدٌ حَرَامٌ أَتَدْرُونَ أَىُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ شَهْرٌ حَرَامٌ قَالَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا

Allah Apostle said in Hajjat-al-Wadaʿ, "Which month (of the year) do you think is most sacred?" The people said, "This current month of ours (the month of Dhull-Hijja)." He said, "Which town (country) do you think is the most sacred?" They said, "This city of ours (Mecca)." He said, "Which day do you think is the most sacred?" The people said, "This day of ours." He then said, "Allah, the Blessed, the Supreme, has made your blood, your property and your honor as sacred as this day of yours in this town of yours, in this month of yours (and such protection cannot be slighted) except rightfully." He then said thrice, "Have I conveyed Allah's Message (to you)?" The people answered him each time saying, 'Yes." The Prophet ﷺ added, 'May Allah be merciful to you (or, woe on you)! Do not revert to disbelief after me by cutting the necks of each other.'

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ أَلاَ أَىُّ شَهْرٍ تَعْلَمُونَهُ أَعْظَمُ حُرْمَةً قَالُوا أَلاَ شَهْرُنَا هَذَا قَالَ أَلاَ أَىُّ بَلَدٍ تَعْلَمُونَهُ أَعْظَمُ حُرْمَةً قَالُوا أَلاَ بَلَدُنَا هَذَا قَالَ أَلاَ أَىُّ يَوْمٍ تَعْلَمُونَهُ أَعْظَمُ حُرْمَةً قَالُوا أَلاَ يَوْمُنَا هَذَا قَالَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى قَدْ حَرَّمَ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ إِلاَّ بِحَقِّهَا كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا أَلاَ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ ثَلاَثًا كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يُجِيبُونَهُ أَلاَ نَعَمْ قَالَ وَيْحَكُمْ أَوْ وَيْلَكُمْ لاَ تَرْجِعُنَّ بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed the people saying, "Don't you know what is the day today?" They replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." We thought that he might give that day another name. The Prophet said, "Isn't it the day of An-Nahr?" We replied, "Yes. O Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He then said, "What town is this? Isn't it the forbidden (Sacred) Town (Mecca)?" We replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He then said, "Your blood, your properties, your honors and your skins (i.e., bodies) are as sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours in this month of yours in this town of yours. (Listen) Haven't I conveyed Allah's message to you?" We replied, "Yes" He said, "O Allah! Be witness (for it). So it is incumbent upon those who are present to convey it (this message of mine) to those who are absent because the informed one might comprehend what I have said better than the present audience who will convey it to him.)" The narrator added: In fact, it was like that. The Prophet ﷺ added, "Beware! Do not renegade as disbelievers after me by striking (cutting) the necks of one another."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ أَلاَ تَدْرُونَ أَىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ فَقَالَ أَلَيْسَ بِيَوْمِ النَّحْرِ قُلْنَا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَىُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا أَلَيْسَتْ بِالْبَلْدَةِ قُلْنَا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ وَأَبْشَارَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا أَلاَ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ فَلْيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ فَإِنَّهُ رُبَّ مُبَلِّغٍ يُبَلِّغُهُ مَنْ هُوَ أَوْعَى لَهُ فَكَانَ كَذَلِكَ قَالَ لاَ تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمَ حُرِّقَ ابْنُ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ حِينَ حَرَّقَهُ جَارِيَةُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ قَالَ أَشْرِفُوا عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرَةَ فَقَالُوا هَذَا أَبُو بَكْرَةَ يَرَاكَ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ فَحَدَّثَتْنِي أُمِّي عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَوْ دَخَلُوا عَلَىَّ مَا بَهَشْتُ بِقَصَبَةٍ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Time has come back to its original state which it had when Allah created the Heavens and the Earth, the year is twelve months, of which four are sacred; (and out of these four) three are in succession, namely, Dhul-Qa'da, Dhul-Hijja and Muharram, and (the fourth one) Rajab Mudar which is between Jumad (Ath-Tham) and Sha'ban." The Prophet ﷺ then asked us, "Which month is this?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know (it) better." He kept quiet so long that we thought he might call it by another name. Then he said, "Isn't it Dhul-Hijja?" We said, "Yes." He asked "What town is this?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know (it) better.' Then he kept quiet so long that we thought he might call it by another name. He then said, "Isn't it the (forbidden) town (Mecca)?" We said, "Yes." He asked, "What is the day today?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know (it) better. Then he kept quiet so long that we thought that he might call it by another name. Then he said, "Isn't it the Day of An-Nahr (slaughtering of sacrifices)?" We said, "Yes." Then he said, "Your blood (lives), your properties," (the sub narrator Muhammad, said: I think he also said): "..and your honor) are as sacred to one another like the sanctity of this Day of yours, in this town of yours, in this month of yours. You shall meet your Lord and He will ask you about your deeds. Beware! Don't go astray after me by striking the necks of one another. Lo! It is incumbent upon those who are present to inform it to those who are absent for perhaps the informed one might comprehend it (understand it) better than some of the present audience." Whenever the sub-narrator Muhammad mentioned that statement, he would say, "The Prophet ﷺ said the truth.") And then the Prophet ﷺ added, "No doubt! Haven't I conveyed Allah's Message to you! No doubt! Haven't I conveyed Allah's Message to you?"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الزَّمَانُ قَدِ اسْتَدَارَ كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ السَّنَةُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ثَلاَثٌ مُتَوَالِيَاتٌ ذُو الْقَعَدَةِ وَذُو الْحَجَّةِ وَالْمُحَرَّمُ وَرَجَبُ مُضَرَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ جُمَادَى وَشَعْبَانَ أَىُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ يُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ ذَا الْحَجَّةِ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ أَىُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ الْبَلْدَةَ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ فَأَىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا وَسَتَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ فَيَسْأَلُكُمْ عَنْ أَعْمَالِكُمْ أَلاَ فَلاَ تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي ضُلاَّلاً يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ أَلاَ لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ فَلَعَلَّ بَعْضَ مَنْ يَبْلُغُهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَوْعَى مِنْ بَعْضِ مَنْ سَمِعَهُ فَكَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ إِذَا ذَكَرَهُ قَالَ صَدَقَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلاَ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ أَلاَ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ

Time has completed a cycle and come to the state of the day when Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year is constituted of twelve months, of which four are sacred; three of them consecutive, viz. Dhu'l-Qa'da, Dhu'l- Hijja and Muharram, and also Rajab the month of Mudar which comes between Jumada and Sha'ban. He (the Holy Prophet) then said: which month is this? We said Allah and His Messenger know best. He (the narrator) said: He (the Holy Prophet) remained silent for some time until we thought that he would give it a name other than that (by which it was known). He said: Is it not Dha'l-Hijja? We said: Yes. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Which city is this? We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He (the Holy Prophety remained silent until we thought that he would give it another name. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Is it not the Balda (the city of Mecca)? We said: Yes. He said: What day is this? We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He (the Holy Prophet) remained silent until we thought that he would give it another name. He said: Is it not the Day of Sacrifice? We said: Messenger of Allah. yes. Thereupon he said: Your blood, your property (Muhammad, one of the narrators, said: I think, he also said this) and your honour are sacred to you like the sacredness of this day of yours, in this city of yours, and in this month of yours. You will soon meet your Lord and He will ask you about your deeds. So do not turn after me unbelievers (or misguided), some of you striking the necks of the others. Behold I let him who is present convey to him who is absent, for many a one whom a message is conveyed has a more retentive memory than one who hears. He again said: Behold! have I not delivered (the message) to you? This hadith has been narrated through another chain of transmitters, but with a slight variation of words.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّ الزَّمَانَ قَدِ اسْتَدَارَ كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ السَّنَةُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ثَلاَثَةٌ مُتَوَالِيَاتٌ ذُو الْقَعْدَةِ وَذُو الْحِجَّةِ وَالْمُحَرَّمُ وَرَجَبٌ شَهْرُ مُضَرَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ جُمَادَى وَشَعْبَانَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَىُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ ذَا الْحِجَّةِ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ فَأَىُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ الْبَلْدَةَ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ فَأَىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ قُلْنَا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ حَرَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا وَسَتَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ فَيَسْأَلُكُمْ عَنْ أَعْمَالِكُمْ فَلاَ تَرْجِعُنَّ بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا أَوْ ضُلاَّلاً يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ أَلاَ لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ فَلَعَلَّ بَعْضَ مَنْ يُبَلَّغُهُ يَكُونُ أَوْعَى لَهُ مِنْ بَعْضِ مَنْ سَمِعَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلاَ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ قَالَ ابْنُ حَبِيبٍ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ وَرَجَبُ مُضَرَ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَلاَ تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي

“What day is this?” They said: “The day of sacrifice.” He said: “What land is this?” They said: “This is the sacred land of Allah.” He said: “What month is this?” They said: “The sacred month of Allah.” He said: “This is the day of the greatest Hajj, and your blood, your wealth and your honor are sacred to you, as sacred as this land, in this month, on this day.” Then he said: “Have I conveyed (the message)?” They said: “Yes.” Then the Prophet ﷺ started to say: “O Allah, bear witness.” Then he bade farewell to the people, and they said: “This is the Farewell Pilgrimage.”

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقَفَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ بَيْنَ الْجَمَرَاتِ فِي الْحَجَّةِ الَّتِي حَجَّ فِيهَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا قَالُوا يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ قَالَ فَأَىُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا قَالُوا هَذَا بَلَدُ اللَّهِ الْحَرَامُ قَالَ فَأَىُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا قَالُوا شَهْرُ اللَّهِ الْحَرَامُ قَالَ هَذَا يَوْمُ الْحَجِّ الأَكْبَرِ وَدِمَاؤُكُمْ وَأَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضُكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ هَذَا الْبَلَدِ فِي هَذَا الشَّهْرِ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ ثُمَّ قَالَ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ قَالُوا نَعَمْ فَطَفِقَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ ثُمَّ وَدَّعَ النَّاسَ فَقَالُوا هَذِهِ حَجَّةُ الْوَدَاعِ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, during the Farewell Pilgrimage: ‘Is not the most sacred of your days this day, is not the most sacred of your months this month, is not the most sacred of your lands this land? Your blood and your wealth are as sacred to you as this day of yours in this month of yours. Have I not conveyed (the message)?’ They said: ‘Yes.” He said: ‘O Allah, bear witness.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حِجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ أَلاَ إِنَّ أَحْرَمَ الأَيَّامِ يَوْمُكُمْ هَذَا أَلاَ وَإِنَّ أَحْرَمَ الشُّهُورِ شَهْرُكُمْ هَذَا أَلاَ وَإِنَّ أَحْرَمَ الْبَلَدِ بَلَدُكُمْ هَذَا أَلاَ وَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا أَلاَ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, during the Farewell Pilgrimage: ‘Is not the most sacred of your days this day, is not the most sacred of your months this month, is not the most sacred of your lands this land? Your blood and your wealth are as sacred to you as this day of yours in this month of yours. Have I not conveyed (the message)?’ They said: ‘Yes.” He said: ‘O Allah, bear witness.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3931)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ أَلَا إِنَّ أَحْرَمَ الْأَيَّامِ يَوْمُكُمْ هَذَا وَإِنَّ أَحْرَمَ الشُّهُورِ شَهْرُكُمْ هَذَا وَإِنَّ أَحْرَمَ الْبِلَادِ بَلَدُكُمْ هَذَا أَلَا وَإِنَّ أَمْوَالَكُمْ وَدِمَاءَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا فِيشَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said during his pilgrimage, "Which day is the greatest in sanctity?" They replied, "This day of ours." He said, "Then, which month is the greatest in sanctity?" They replied, "This month of ours." He said, "Then, which city is the greatest in sanctity?" They replied, "This city of ours." He said, "Indeed, your lives and your wealth are as sacred to one another as this day is sacred, in this month is sacred, and in this city is sacred."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّتِهِ أَيُّ يَوْمٍ أَعْظَمُ حُرْمَةً؟ قَالُوا يَوْمُنَا هَذَا قَالَ فَأَيُّ شَهْرٍ أَعْظَمُ حُرْمَةً؟ قَالُوا شَهْرُنَا هَذَا قَالَ فَأَيُّ بَلَدٍ أَعْظَمُ حُرْمَةً؟ قَالُوا بَلَدُنَا هَذَا قَالَ فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا

[AI] Our Messenger ﷺ addressed us on the Day of Sacrifice and said, "Which day is the greatest in sanctity?" They replied, "Our day is the greatest." He then asked, "Which month is the greatest in sanctity?" They said, "Our month is the greatest." He further asked, "Which city is the greatest in sanctity?" They responded, "Our city is the greatest." He then said, "Indeed, your lives and wealth are sacred to one another, just as this day is sacred in this month and this city. Have I conveyed the message?" They answered, "Yes." May Allah bear witness."

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ فَقَالَ أَيُّ يَوْمٍ أَعْظَمُ حُرْمَةً؟ فَقَالَوا يَوْمُنَا هَذَا قَالَ فَأَيُّ شَهْرٍ أَعْظَمُ حُرْمَةً؟ قَالَوا شَهْرُنَا هَذَا قَالَ أَيُّ بَلَدٍ أَعْظَمُ حُرْمَةً؟ قَالَوا بَلَدُنَا هَذَا قَالَ فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ قَالَوا نَعَمْ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon to us on the day of Aqaba and said, "O people, indeed, your blood and your wealth are sacred to you until you meet your Lord, just as the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours. Have I conveyed the message?" They said, "Yes." He said, "O Allah, have I conveyed the message?"

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْعَقَبَةِ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ إِلَى أَنْ تَلْقَوْا رَبَّكُمْ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ اللهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟

[AI] I was riding behind my father during the Farewell Pilgrimage. When the Prophet ﷺ spoke, I stood on the rear of the mount and placed my hand on my father's shoulder, and I heard him say: "Which day is more sacred?" They said, "This day." He said, "Which land is more sacred?" They said, "This land." He said, "Which month is more sacred?" They said, "This month." He said, "Your blood and your wealth are sacred among you, like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours. Have I conveyed?" They said, "Yes." He said, "O Allah ﷻ, bear witness. O Allah ﷻ, bear witness."

إِنِّي لَرَدِيفُ أَبِي فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ، إِذْ تَكَلَّمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ، فَقُمْتُ عَلَى عَجُزِ الرَّاحِلَةِ، فَوَضَعْتُ يَدِي عَلَى عَاتِقِ أَبِي، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: «أَيُّ يَوْمٍ أَحْرَمُ؟» قَالُوا: هَذَا الْيَوْمُ. قَالَ: «فَأَيُّ بَلَدٍ أَحْرَمُ؟» قَالُوا: هَذَا الْبَلَدُ. قَالَ: «فَأَيُّ شَهْرٍ أَحْرَمُ؟» قَالُوا: هَذَا الشَّهْرُ. قَالَ: «فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ، كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا، فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا، فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا، هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟» قَالُوا: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: «اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ، اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ».

He said, "Isn't it the month of Dhul-Hijja?" We said, "Yes." He said, "Which town is this?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He kept silent so long that we thought that he would call it t,y a name other than its real name. He said, "isn't it the town (of Mecca)?" We replied, "Yes." He said, "What day is today?" We replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He kept silent so long that we thought that he would call it by a name other than its real name. He said, "Isn't it the day of Nahr?" We replied, "Yes." He then said, "Your blood, properties and honor are as sacred to one another as this day of yours in this town of yours in this month of yours. You will meet your Lord, and He will ask you about your deeds. Beware! Do not go astray after me by cutting the necks of each other. It is incumbent upon those who are present to convey this message to those who are absent, for some of those to whom it is conveyed may comprehend it better than some of those who have heard it directly." (Muhammad, the sub-narrator, on mentioning this used to say: The Prophet then said, "No doubt! Haven't I delivered (Allah's) Message (to you)? Haven't I delivered Allah's message (to you)?" أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَطَبَ فِي حَجَّتِهِ فَقَالَ أَلَا إِنَّالزَّمَانَ قَدْ اسْتَدَارَ كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ اللهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ السَّنَةُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ثَلَاثٌ مُتَوَالِيَاتٌ ذُو الْقَعْدَةِ وَذُو الْحِجَّةِ وَالْمُحَرَّمُ وَرَجَبُ مُضَرَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ جُمَادَى وَشَعْبَانَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلَا أَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟ قُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ؟ قُلْنَا بَلَى ثُمَّ قَالَ أَيُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا؟ قُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ فَقَالَ أَلَيْسَ ذَا الْحِجَّةِ؟ قُلْنَا بَلَى ثُمَّ قَالَ أَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟ قُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَتِ الْبَلْدَةَ؟ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ قَالَ وَأَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا وَسَتَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ فَيَسْأَلُكُمْ عَنْ أَعْمَالِكُمْ أَلَا لَا تَرْجِعُنَّ بَعْدِي ضُلَّالًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ أَلَا لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ مِنْكُمْ فَلَعَلَّ مَنْ يُبَلَّغُهُ يَكُونُ أَوْعَى لَهُ مِنْ بَعْضِ مَنْ يَسْمَعُهُ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَقَدْ كَانَ ذَاكَ قَالَ كَانَ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed the people saying, "Don't you know what is the day today?" They replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." We thought that he might give that day another name. The Prophet said, "Isn't it the day of An-Nahr?" We replied, "Yes. O Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He then said, "What town is this? Isn't it the forbidden (Sacred) Town (Mecca)?" We replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He then said, "Your blood, your properties, your honors and your skins (i.e., bodies) are as sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours in this month of yours in this town of yours. (Listen) Haven't I conveyed Allah's message to you?" We replied, "Yes" He said, "O Allah! Be witness (for it). So it is incumbent upon those who are present to convey it (this message of mine) to those who are absent because the informed one might comprehend what I have said better than the present audience who will convey it to him.)" The narrator added: In fact, it was like that. The Prophet ﷺ added, "Beware! Do not renegade as disbelievers after me by striking (cutting) the necks of one another." أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ بِمِنًى فَقَالَ أَلَا تَدْرُونَ أَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟ قُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ فَقَالَ أَلَيْسَ بِيَوْمِ النَّحْرِ؟ قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ أَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟ قُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ بِالْبَلْدَةِ؟ قُلْنَا بَلَىيَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ وَأَبْشَارَكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ ‍ قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ فَإِنَّهُ رُبَّ مُبَلِّغٍ يُبَلِّغُهُ مَنْ هُوَ أَوْعَى لَهُ مِنْهُ فَكَانَ كَذَلِكَ وَقَالَ لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ حَرْقِ ابْنِ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ حَرَّقَهُ جَارِيَةُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ قَالَ أَشْرَفُوا عَلَى أَبِي بَكَرَةَ فَقَالُوا هَذَا أَبُو بَكَرَةَ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ فَحَدَّثَتْنِي أُمِّي أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرَةَ قَالَ لَوْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيَّ مَا بَهَشْتُ إِلَيْهِمْ بِقَصَبَةٍ

[AI] I heard Abu Ghadiyah saying, "I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." Abu Sa'id said, "I asked him, 'Did you pledge allegiance with your right hand?'" He replied, 'Yes.' They both mentioned in the narration that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us on the day of Al-Aqaba and said, 'O people, your blood and wealth are forbidden to each other until the Day you meet your Lord, like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this city of yours. Have I conveyed the message?' They said, 'Yes.' He said, 'O Allah, bear witness.' Then he said, 'Do not revert to disbelief after me by striking the necks of one another.

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا غَادِيةَ يَقُولُ بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ بِيَمِينِكَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَا جَمِيعًا فِي الْحَدِيثِ وَخَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْعَقَبَةِ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ تَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلَا لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ

someone who heard the sermon of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the middle the days of tashrīq ˹toward the end of Ḥajj˺ narrated to me that he (the Prophet ﷺ) said, "O people! Your Lord is One and your father ˹Adam˺ is one. There is no preference of an Arab over a non-Arab, nor a non-Arab over an Arab, and neither one of white skin over one of black skin, nor one of black skin over one of white skin, except through God-conscious righteousness. Have I delivered ˹the message˺?” They said, “The Messenger of Allah has delivered ˹the message˺."

Then he said, "Which day is this?" They said: A sacred day. Then he said, "Which month is this?" They said: A sacred month. He said, then he said, "Which city is this?", They said: A sacred city. He said, "˹Similarly,˺ Allah has made your lives and and your wealth sacred between you" – he said: and I don't know whether or not he said "your honor", "just like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this city of yours. Have I delivered ˹the message˺?" They said: “The Messenger of Allah has delivered ˹the message˺."

He said, "The one present must deliver to the one absent."

حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ خُطْبَةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي وَسَطِ أَيَّامِ التَّشْرِيقِ فَقَالَ: «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ! أَلَا إِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ وَاحِدٌ، وَإِنَّ أَبَاكُمْ وَاحِدٌ۔ أَلَا لَا فَضْلَ لِعَرَبِيٍّ عَلَى عَجَمِيٍّ، وَلَا لِعَجَمِيٍّ عَلَى عَرَبِيٍّ، وَلَا أَحْمَرَ عَلَى أَسْوَدَ، وَلَا أَسْوَدَ عَلَى أَحْمَرَ، إِلَّا بِالتَّقْوَى۔ أَبَلَّغْتُ؟» قَالُوا: بَلَّغَ رَسُولُ اللهِ!

ثُمَّ قَالَ: «أَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا: يَوْمٌ حَرَامٌ۔ ثُمَّ قَالَ: «أَيُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا: شَهْرٌ حَرَامٌ۔ قَالَ: ثُمَّ قَالَ: «أَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا: بَلَدٌ حَرَامٌ۔ قَالَ: «فَإِنَّ اللهَ قَدْ حَرَّمَ بَيْنَكُمْ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ۔» قَالَ وَلَا أَدْرِي قَالَ أَوْ «أَعْرَاضَكُمْ» أَمْ لَا «كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا۔ أَبَلَّغْتُ؟» قَالُوا: بَلَّغَ رَسُولُ اللهِ! قَالَ: «لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ۔»

“What day is this?” They said: “The day of sacrifice.” He said: “What land is this?” They said: “This is the sacred land of Allah.” He said: “What month is this?” They said: “The sacred month of Allah.” He said: “This is the day of the greatest Hajj, and your blood, your wealth and your honor are sacred to you, as sacred as this land, in this month, on this day.” Then he said: “Have I conveyed (the message)?” They said: “Yes.” Then the Prophet ﷺ started to say: “O Allah, bear witness.” Then he bade farewell to the people, and they said: “This is the Farewell Pilgrimage.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3058)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقَفَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ بَيْنَ الْجَمَرَاتِ فِي الْحَجَّةِ الَّتِي حَجَّ فَقَالَ لِلنَّاسِ «أَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا هَذَا يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ قَالَ «فَأَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا هَذَا الْبَلَدُ الْحَرَامُ قَالَ «فَأَيُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا الشَّهْرُ الْحَرَامُ قَالَ «هَذَا يَوْمُ الْحَجِّ الْأَكْبَرِ فَدِمَاؤُكُمْ وَأَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضُكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ هَذَا الْبَلَدِ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ فَطَفِقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ» ثُمَّ وَدَّعَ النَّاسَ فَقَالُوا هَذِهِ حَجَّةُ الْوَدَاعِ

[AI] The Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ addressed them and said, "Which day is this?" They replied, "It is a sacred day." He said, "Which city is this?" They replied, "It is the sacred city." He said, "Which month is it?" They replied, "It is a sacred month." He said, "Verily, your lives, your wealth, and your honor are sacred upon you, just as the sanctity of this day, this month, and this city. The witness shall convey it to the absent one. Do not revert to disbelief after me, striking the necks of one another."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَطَبَهُمْ فَقَالَ «أَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا يَوْمٌ حَرَامٌ قَالَ «فَأَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا الْبَلَدُ الْحَرَامُ قَالَ «فَأَيُّ شَهْرٍ؟» قَالُوا شَهْرٌ حَرَامٌ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ حَرَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا كَحُرْمَةِ شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا كَحُرْمَةِ بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, he said: “Indeed time has returned to its original state as it was on the day Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year is twelve months, of which four are sacred: three consecutive—Dhu al-Qa‘dah, Dhu al-Hijjah, and al-Muharram—and Rajab of Mudar, which is between Jumada and Sha‘ban.” Then he said, “Which month is this?” We said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He fell silent until we thought he would name it by a name other than its own. He said, “Is it not Dhu al-Hijjah?” We said, “Yes.” He said, “Which land is this?” We said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He fell silent until we thought he would name it by a name other than its own. He said, “Is it not this town?” We said, “Yes.” He said, “Which day is this?” We said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said, “Is it not the Day of Sacrifice?” We said, “Yes.” He said, “Indeed your blood and your wealth”—Muhammad said, “and I think he said, ‘and your honor’”—“are sacred to you, like the sanctity of this day of yours in this land of yours. And you will meet your Lord, and He will ask you about your deeds. So do not return after me astray, striking the necks of one another. Let those of you who are present convey it to those who are absent, for perhaps some who receive it may understand it better than some who heard it.” He said: Muhammad would, whenever he mentioned it, say, “Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth; it was indeed so.” Then he ﷺ said, “Have I conveyed (the message)? Have I conveyed (the message)?”

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ الزَّمَانَ قَدِ اسْتَدَارَ كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ السُّنَّةُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ثَلَاثٌ مُتَوَالِيَاتٌ ذُو الْقَعْدَةِ وَذُو الْحِجَّةِ وَالْمُحَرَّمُ وَرَجَبُ مُضَرَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ جُمَادَى وَشَعْبَانَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَيُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا»؟ قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ «أَلَيْسَ ذَا الْحِجَّةِ؟ » قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ «أَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟ » قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ «أَلَيْسَ ذَا الْبَلْدَةَ؟ » قُلْنَا نَعَمْ قَالَ «أَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا»؟ قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «أَلَيْسَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ؟ » قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ «فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا وَسَتَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ فَيَسْأَلُكُمْ عَنْ أَعْمَالِكُمْ أَلَا فَلَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي ضُلَّالًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ أَلَا لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ مِنْكُمُ الْغَائِبَ فَلَعَلَّ بَعْضَ مَنْ يَبْلُغُهُ يَكُونُ أَوْعَى لَهُ مِنْ بَعْضِ مَنْ سَمِعَهُ» قَالَ فَكَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ إِذَا ذَكَرَهُ يَقُولُ صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ قَدْ كَانَ ذَاكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ ﷺ «أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ »

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ الزَّمَانَ قَدِ اسْتَدَارَ كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَالسُّنَّةُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ثَلَاثَةٌ مُتَوَالِيَاتٌ ذُو الْقَعْدَةِ وَذُو الْحِجَّةِ وَالْمُحَرَّمُ وَرَجَبُ مُضَرَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ جُمَادَى وَشَعْبَانَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَيُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا؟ » قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ «أَلَيْسَ ذَا الْحِجَّةِ» قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ «فَأَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟ » قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ «أَلَيْسَ الْبَلَدَ الْحَرَامَ؟ » قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ «فَأَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟ » قُلْنَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ «أَلَيْسَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ؟ » قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ «فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ حَرَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا وَسَتَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ فَيَسْأَلُكُمْ عَنْ أَعْمَالِكُمْ فَلَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي ضُلَّالًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ أَلَا لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ فَلَعَلَّ بَعْضَ مَنْ يَبْلُغُهُ يَكُونُ أَوْعَى لَهُ مِنْ بَعْضِ مَنْ سَمِعَهُ أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ »

[AI] He witnessed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage, and he said, "Behold, your blood and your wealth are forbidden to you, as the sanctity of this day and of this month in your land. Behold, have I conveyed the message?" They said, "Yes." He said, "O Allah, bear witness." "And the wording belongs to the narration of Abu Ar-Rabi'."

أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَ «أَلَا إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ» «وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ»

[AI] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon during the Farewell Hajj and asked, "O people, what city is this?" They replied, "A sacred city." He then asked, "What month is this?" They replied, "A sacred month." He further asked, "What day is this?" They replied, "A sacred day." He said, "Behold, your lives, your properties, and your honors are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, and in this city of yours. Let those present inform those who are absent that they should not revert to disbelief after me, striking one another's necks."

أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ خَطَبَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَ «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا بَلَدٌ حَرَامٌ قَالَ «فَأَيُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا شَهْرٌ حَرَامٌ قَالَ «فَأَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا يَوْمٌ حَرَامٌ قَالَ «أَلَا إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا كَشَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا كَحُرْمَةِ بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا فَلْيُبَلِّغْ شَاهِدُكُمْ غَائِبَكُمْ لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ came during the Farewell Pilgrimage on a camel until he stood in the middle of the people on the day of Arafah. He asked, "Which day is this?" They replied, "It is the sacred day of Arafah." He asked, "Which month is it?" They replied, "It is the sacred month." He asked, "Which city is this?" They replied, "It is the sacred city." He said, "Verily, your wealth, your honor, and your blood are sacred to you, just as this day of yours, in this month of yours, and in this city of yours. Behold! Every Prophet's claim has expired except my claim. I have preserved it with my Lord until the Day of Resurrection. After me, there will be numerous Prophets, so do not disgrace me. Indeed, I will be waiting for you at the Fountain."

جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ حَتَّى وَقَفَ وَسَطَ النَّاسِ فِي يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ فَقَالَ «أَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا يَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ الْيَوْمُ الْحَرَامُ قَالَ «فَأَيُّ شَهْرٍ؟» قَالُوا فِي الشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ قَالَ «فَأَيُّ بَلَدٍ؟» هذا؟ قَالُوا الْبَلَدُ الْحَرَامُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ أَمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ وَدِمَاءَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَيَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا أَلَا إِنَّ كُلَّ نَبِيٍّ قَدْ مَضَتْ دَعْوَتُهُ إِلَّا دَعْوَتِي فَإِنِّي قَدِ ادَّخَرْتُهَا عِنْدَ رَبِّي إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ أَمَا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ الْأَنْبِيَاءَ مُكَاثِرُونَ فَلَا تُخْزُونِي فَإِنِّي جَالِسٌ لَكُمْ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed them in the Farewell Pilgrimage and said, "Verily, Allah has forbidden you from shedding each other's blood and taking each other's wealth, just as the sanctity of this day of yours in this month of yours in this land of yours. Have I conveyed the message?" They said, "Yes." He said, "O Allah, bear witness." He repeated this three times, and then he said, "Behold, do not revert to disbelief after me, striking each other's necks."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَطَبَهُمْ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَ «أَلَا إِنَّ اللهَ حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ» قَالَ ذَلِكَ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ «انْظُرُوا لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ»

[AI] It is said that this is called "Tarkheeh." They said to us, "Here is a man who has seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." So we went to a venerable sheikh and said, "Have you seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" He said, "Yes, and he wrote to me with this water and gave us a piece of skin containing the writing of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." So we asked him, "What is your name?" He said, "I am Al-Adaa ibn Khalid." We asked him, "What did you hear from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" He said, "I was beneath his camel on the day of Arafah, and it was grazing with its tether. He said, 'O people, which day is this? And which month is this? And which city is this?' We said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'Is this not a sacred month and a sacred city and a sacred day?' We said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'Know that your blood and your wealth and your honor are sacred to you like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this city of yours, until the day you meet your Lord. O Allah, have I conveyed the message?' O Allah, bear witness.'"

يُقَالُ لَهُ التَّرْحِيحُ قَالُوا لَنَا هَاهُنَا رَجُلٌ قَدْ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَتَيْنَا شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا قَالَ قُلْنَا رَأَيْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ وَكَتَبَ لِي بِهَذَا الْمَاءِ وَأَخْرَجَ إِلَيْنَا جِلْدَةً فِيهَا كِتَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ» فَقُلْنَا مَا اسْمُكَ؟ قَالَ الْعَدَّاءُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَ قُلْنَا فَمَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ كُنْتُ تَحْتَ نَاقَتِهِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ وَهِيَ تَقْصَعُ بِجِرَّتِهَا فَقَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟ وَأَيُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا؟ وَأَيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟» قَالَ قُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «أَلَيْسَ هَذَا شَهْرٌ حَرَامٌ وَبَلَدٌ حَرَامٌ وَيَوْمٌ حَرَامٌ؟ ؟» قُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «أَلَا إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا إِلَى يَوْمِ تَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ اللهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغَتُ؟ اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon on the Day of Sacrifice and said, "Indeed, your blood and your wealth are sacred among yourselves like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours, until the day you meet your Lord. Have I not conveyed the message?" They said, "Yes." He said, "O Allah, bear witness." The witness among you will convey to the absent one, for perhaps the one being informed will understand better than the one hearing. Beware, do not turn back after me as disbelievers, striking the necks of one another."

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ بَيْنَكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا إِلَى يَوْمِ تَلْقَوْنَ رَبِّكُمْ أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ» يُبَلِّغُ الشَّاهِدُ مِنْكُمُ الْغَائِبَ فَرُبَّ مُبَلَّغٍ أَوْعَى مِنْ سَامِعٍ أَلَا لَا تَرْجِعُنَّ بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivering a sermon to the people in Mina. He praised and thanked Allah, then he asked them, "Which day is this?" They replied, "This is the day of Haram." He asked them, "Which place is Haram?" They replied, "This place is Haram." He asked them, "Which month is Haram?" They replied, "This month is Haram." He said, "Verily, your lives and your wealth are sacred upon you, just as the sanctity of this day, this month, and this place. O Allah, have I conveyed?" They said, "Yes." He said, "O Allah, bear witness."

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ بِمِنًى فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ سَأَلَهُمْ فَقَالَ «أَيُّ يَوْمٍ أَحْرَمُ؟» قَالُوا هَذَا الْيَوْمُ قَالَ «فَأَيُّ بَلَدٍ أَحْرَمُ؟» قَالُوا هَذَا الْبَلَدُ قَالَ «فَأَيُّ شَهْرٍ أَحْرَمُ؟» قَالُوا هَذَا الشَّهْرُ قَالَ «فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ وَحُرْمَةِ هَذَا الشَّهْرِ وَحُرْمَةِ هَذَا الْبَلَدِ اللهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ»

[AI] I was riding behind my father on the departure and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was delivering a sermon at the stone pillar. He said, "Praise be to Allah, we praise Him, seek His help, and ask for His forgiveness. We bear witness that there is no god except Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. I advise you to have Taqwa (consciousness of Allah) on every day I live." They said, "This day." He said, "Which month shall I sanctify?" They said, "This month." He said, "Which land shall I sanctify?" They said, "This land." He said, "Indeed, your blood and wealth are sacred to one another, as sacred as this day of yours in this month of yours in this land of yours."

كُنْتُ رِدْفَ أَبِي عَلَى عَجُزِ الرَّاحِلَةِ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ عِنْدَ الْجَمْرَةِ فَقَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ نَحْمَدُهُ وَنَسْتَعِينُهُ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أُوصِيكُمْ بِتَقْوَى اللهِ أِيُّ يَوْمٍ أُحَرِّمُ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا هَذَا قَالَ فَأِيُّ شَهْرٍ أُحَرِّمُ؟ قَالُوا هَذَا قَالَ فَأِيُّ بَلَدٍ أُحَرِّمُ؟ قَالُوا هَذَا الْبَلَدُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ حَرَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Time has taken its original shape which it had when Allah created the Heavens and the Earth. The year is of twelve months, four of which are sacred, and out of these (four) three are in succession, i.e. Dhul-Qa'da, Dhul-Hijja and Al-Muharram, and the fourth is Rajab which is named after the Mudar tribe, between (the month of) Jumaida (ath-thania) and Sha'ban." Then the Prophet ﷺ asked, "Which is this month?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." On that the Prophet ﷺ kept quiet so long that we thought that he might name it with another name. Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "Isn't it the month of Dhul-Hijja?" We replied, "Yes." Then he said, "Which town is this?" "We replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." On that he kept quiet so long that we thought that he might name it with another name. Then he said, "Isn't it the town of Mecca?" We replied, "Yes, " Then he said, "Which day is today?" We replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He kept quiet so long that we thought that he might name it with another name. Then he said, "Isn't it the day of An- Nahr (i.e. sacrifice)?" We replied, "Yes." He said, "So your blood, your properties, (The sub-narrator Muhammad said, 'I think the Prophet ﷺ also said: And your honor..) are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this city of yours, in this month of yours; and surely, you will meet your Lord, and He will ask you about your deeds. Beware! Do not become infidels after me, cutting the throats of one another. It is incumbent on those who are present to convey this message (of mine) to those who are absent. May be that some of those to whom it will be conveyed will understand it better than those who have actually heard it." (The sub-narrator, Muhammad, on remembering that narration, used to say, "Muhammad spoke the truth!") He (i.e. Prophet) then added twice, "No doubt! Haven't I conveyed (Allah's Message) to you?" (Using translation from Bukhārī 4406)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الزَّمَانَ قَدِ اسْتَدَارَ كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ اللهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ السَّنَةُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ثَلَاثَةٌ مُتَوَالِيَاتٌ ذُو الْقَعْدَةِ وَذُو الْحِجَّةِ وَالْمُحَرَّمُ وَرَجَبٌ شَهْرُ مُضَرَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ جُمَادَى وَشَعْبَانَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أِيُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا؟ قُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ ذَا الْحِجَّةِ؟ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ فَأِيُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟ قُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ الْبَلْدَةَ؟ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ فَأِيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟ قُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ سَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ؟ قُلْنَا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَأَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ حَرَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا وَسَتَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ فَيَسْأَلُكُمْ عَنْ أَعْمَالِكُمْ فَلَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي ضُلَّالًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ أَلَا لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ فَلَعَلَّ بَعْضُ مَنْ يَبْلُغُهُ أَوْعَى لَهُ مِنْ بَعْضِ مَنْ سَمِعَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ لَمْ يَسُقِ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ مَتْنَهُ وَقَالَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّ الزَّمَانَ قَدِ اسْتَدَارَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said during his Farewell Pilgrimage, "Do you not know which month is the most sacred?" They said, "Our month, this month." He said, "Do you not know which land is the most sacred?" They said, "Our land, this land." He said, "Do you not know which day is the most sacred?" They said, "Our day, this day." He said, "Verily, Allah has made your lives, your wealth, and your honor sacred for one another, just as the sanctity of this day and this land. Have I not conveyed?" They said, "Yes, you have."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حِجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ أَلَا أِيُّ شَهْرٍ تَعْلَمُونَهُ أَعْظَمَ حُرْمَةً؟ قَالُوا شَهْرُنَا هَذَا قَالَ أِيُّ بَلَدٍ تَعْلَمُونَهُ أَعْظَمَ حُرْمَةً؟ قَالُوا بَلَدُنَا هَذَا قَالَ تَعْلَمُونَ أِيَّ يَوْمٍ أَعْظَمَ؟ قَالُوا يَوْمُنَا هَذَا قَالَ فَإِنَّ اللهَ حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِي هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ ثَلَاثًا كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يُجِيبُونَهُ أَلَا نَعَمْ 11494 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ فَذَكَرَهُ بِإِسْنَادِهِ نَحْوَهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَلَا أِيُّ بَلَدٍ أَلَا أِيُّ يَوْمٍ وَقَالَ أَلَا شَهْرُنَا هَذَا أَلَا بَلَدُنَا هَذَا أَلَا يَوْمُنَا هَذَا وَزَادَ فِيهِ مِنْ شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا وَزَادَ فِي آخِرِهِ وَقَالَ وَيْحَكُمْ أَوْ وَيْلَكُمْ لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ

[AI] “Indeed, time has returned to its original state as it was on the day Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year is twelve months, of which four are sacred: three consecutive—Dhu al-Qa‘dah, Dhu al-Hijjah, and al-Muharram—and Rajab of Mudar, which is between Jumada and Sha‘ban. Which month is this? Is it not Dhu al-Hijjah?” They said, “Yes.” “Which land is this? Is it not the Sacred Land?” They said, “Yes.” “Which day is this? Is it not the Day of Sacrifice?” They said, “Yes.” He said: “Then indeed your blood, your wealth, and your honor are inviolable to you, like the inviolability of this day of yours in this land of yours in this month of yours. And you will meet your Lord, and He will ask you about your deeds. So do not return after me astray, striking the necks of one another. Let those who are present convey to those who are absent, for perhaps some who receive it will comprehend it better than some who heard it. Have I conveyed (the message)?””

"إِنَّ الزَّمَانَ قَدْ اسْتَدَارَ كَهَيئَتِهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ الله السمواتِ والأَرْضَ. السَّنَةُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شهْرًا، مِنْها أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ، ثلاثَةٌ مُتَوَالِيَاتٌ: ذو الْقَعْدَةَ، وَذو الْحجَّةِ، والْمُحَرَّمُ، وَرَجَبُ مُضَرَ الَّذي بَينَ جُمَادَى وَشَعْبَانَ، أَيُّ شَهْر هَذَا ؟ أَلَيسَ ذَا الْحجَّةِ؟ قالوا: بَلَى. أَيُّ بَلَد هَذَا؟ أَلَيسَ الْبَلْدَةَ؟ قَالُوا بَلَى، أَيُّ يَوْم هَذا؟ أَلَيسَ يَوْمَ النَّحْر؟ قَالُوا: بَلَى قَال: فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكمْ، وَأَمْوَالكُمْ، وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا في بَلَدِكُمْ هَذا في شَهْرِكُمْ هَذا، وَسَتَلقَوْنَ ربَّكُمْ فَيَسْأَلُكُم عَنْ أَعْمَالِكُمْ، أَلا فَلَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِى ضُلَّالًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُم رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ أَلا لِيُبَلِّغ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ، فَلَعَلَّ بَعْض مَنْ يَبْلُغُهُ أَن يَكُونَ أَوْعَى لَهُ مِن بَعْضِ مَنْ سَمِعَهُ، أَلا هَل بلَّغْتُ؟ ".

"أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَيُّ شَهْرٍ أَحْرَمُ؟ قالُوا: هَذَا، قَال: أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ فَأَيُّ بَلَد أَحْرَمُ ؟ قَالُوا: هَذَا، قَال: فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالكُمْ، وأَعْرَاضَكُم مُحَرَّمَةٌ عَلَيكُمْ كُحرَمَةِ يَوْمِكم هَذَا في شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا في بلَدِكُمْ هَذَا إِلى يَوْمِ تَلقَوْنَ رَبَكُمْ، هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ اللَّهُمَ اشْهَدْ، أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ليُبَلغ الشَّاهِدُ الغَائِبَ".

"الحمدُ لله نَحمدُهُ وَنَسْتَعِينُه وَنسْتَغْفرُه وَنَشْهَدُ أن مُحَمدًا عَبدُهُ ورسُولُهُ (بلفظ طب : وإني) أوصِيكُمْ بِتَقْوَى الله أَى يَومٍ أحرِّمُ؟ ... قالوا: هذا، فأى شَهْر أحَرِّمُ؟ قالوا: هذا الشهر، قال: فأيَّ بلد أحرمُ؟ قالوا: هذا البلدَ. قال: فإنَّ دماءَكمْ وأمْوَالكُمْ حَرامٌ عليكُمْ كَحُرْمةِ يَومِكُمْ هَذا في شَهْرِكُم هذَا في بلدِكُم هَذا، هَلْ بَلَّغْت، اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ".

"يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ: إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ، وأَمْوَالَكُمْ، وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحرْمَةِ يَوْمِكمْ هَذَا، فِى شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا، فِى بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا، فَلْيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الغَائِبَ، وَلا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدى كُفَّارًا، يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُم رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ".

"يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ: أَىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا: هَذَا يَوْمٌ حَرَامٌ، قَالَ: فَأَىُّ بَلَد هَذَا؟ قَالُوا (*): هَذَا بَلَدٌ حَرَامٌ، قَالَ: فَأَىُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا: هَذَا شَهْرٌ حَرَامٌ، قَالَ: فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ، وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ، وأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكمْ حَرَامٌ، كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِى بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا، فِى شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا، اللَّهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ، اللَّهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ ! فَلْيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الغَائِبَ، لا تَرْجِعْوا بَعْدِى كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ".

"يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ: أَىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟ وَأَىُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا؟ وَأَىُّ بَلدٍ هَذَا؟ أَلَيْس شَهْرٌ حَرَامٌ؟ وَبَلَدٌ حَرَامٌ؟ وَيَوْمٌ حَرَامٌ؟ أَلا إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ، وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ، وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيكُم حَرَامٌ، كحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكمِ هَذَا، فِى شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِى بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا إِلَى يَوْمِ تَلْقَونَ رَبَّكُمْ، اللَّهُم هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ، اللَّهُمَ اشْهَدْ".

" عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ فِى حَجَّتِهِ: أَتَدْرُونَ أَىُّ يَوْمٍ أَعْظَمَ حُرْمَةً؟ قُلْنَا: يَوْمُنَا هَذَا، قَالَ: أتَدْرُونَ أَيُّ بَلَدٍ أَعْظَمَ حُرْمَةً؟ قُلْنَا: بَلَدُنَا هَذَا، قَالَ: فَأَىُّ شَهْرٍ أَعْظَمُ حُرْمَةً؟ قُلْنَا: شَهْرُنَا هَذَا، قَالَ: فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِى شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِى بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا ".

" عَنْ مَخْشِىِّ بْنِ حُجَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ: أَنَّ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ خَطَبَ فِى حَجَّةِ الوَدَاعِ، فَقَالَ: أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ: أَىُّ بَلَدٍ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا: بَلَدٌ حَرَامٌ، قَالَ: فَأىُّ شَهْرٍ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا شَهْرٌ حَرَامٌ، قَالَ: فَأىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا: يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ، قَالَ: أَلَا إنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ، وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ، وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ، كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا، كحُرْمَةِ شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا، فَليُبَلغْ شَاهِدُكُمْ غَائِبَكُمْ، لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِى كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ".

" عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ زِيَادِ بْنِ حُزَيْمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ حُزَيْمِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ رَسُولَ الله ﷺ فِى حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: أَلَا إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ، وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ، وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا، فِى شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا، فِى بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا، أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ فَقَالُوا: الَّلهُمَّ نَعَمْ".

"عَنْ وَابِصَةَ قَالَ: شَهِدَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ في حَجَّةِ الوَدَاع وَهُو يَقُولُ: ايُّهَا النَّاسُ: أىُّ يَوْمٍ أَحْرمُ؟ قَالَ النَّاسُ: هَذَا اليَوم وَهُوَ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ، قَالَ: أَىُّ شَهْرٍ أَحْرَمُ لله قَالَ النَّاسُ: هَذَا الشَّهْر، قَالَ: أَىُّ بَلَدٍ أحْرَمُ؟ قَالُوا: هذِهِ البَلدَة، قَالَ: فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُم وَأمْوَالَكُمْ وَأَعْرَاضَكُمْ مُحَرَّمَة عَلَيْكُمْ، كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا في شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا في بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا إلى يَوْم تَلقَوْنَهُ، ألَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ قَالَ النَّاسُ: نَعَمْ، فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ إلى السَّمَاءِ: اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ يَقُولُهَا ثَلاثا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: لِيُبَلِّغ الشَّاهِدُ الغَائِبَ".

"عَنْ وَابِصَةَ أَنَّ النَبِىَّ ﷺ خَطَبَهُمْ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ فَقَالَ أيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّى لَا أرَانِى وَإياكُمْ نَجْتَمِعُ هَذَا المجِلسَ أبَدًا فَأىُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا: عَرَفَة، قَالَ: فَأىُّ بَلَدٍ هَذا؟ قَالُوا: البَلَدُ الحَرَامُ، قَالَ: فَأىُّ شَهْرٍ هذا؟ قَالُوا: الشَّهْرُ الحَرَامُ، قَالَ: فَإِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأمْوَالَكُمْ وَأعْرَاضَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَام كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا في بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا، في شَهْرِكُمْ هَذا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ : اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ".

"عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ : إِنَّ أحْرَمَ الأيَّام يَوْمُكُم هَذَا فِي شْهرِكُم هَذَا، فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا، قَالَ: إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُم حَرامٌ عَلَيْكُم كحُرمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا، فِي شَهركُمْ هَذا، فِي بَلدِكُمْ هَذا، أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ".
