[Machine] His grandfather, Sa'id ibn Zaid, asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about his father, Zaid. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, my father, Zaid ibn 'Amr ibn Nufayl, was as you have seen him and as he reached you. If he had lived to see you, he would have believed in you. So, ask forgiveness for him." The Messenger of Allah said, "Yes, I will ask forgiveness for him." He then asked forgiveness for him and said, "Verily, he will come on the Day of Resurrection as a single nation." It is mentioned that he was seeking the truth and he died while in his quest. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about him in his summary.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to visit the graves, and we went out with him. He commanded us to sit, and we sat. Then he passed by the graves until he reached a particular grave and he stood there for a long time, engaged in private conversation. Then the crying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intensified, and we cried along with him. He then turned to us, and 'Umar ibn al-Khattab met him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is it that makes you cry, when you have made us cry and startled us?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and sat with us and said, "Does my crying alarm you?" We said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "The grave that you saw me speaking to is the grave of my mother, Aminah bint Wahb. I sought permission from my Lord to visit her grave, and He granted me permission. So I sought His permission to seek forgiveness for her, but He did not grant me permission. And the verse was revealed upon me: 'It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask Allah's forgiveness for the Mushrikun (polytheists).' (Quran 9:113) Until the end of the verse: 'And the request of forgiveness of Ibrahim (Abraham) for his father except for a promise he had made to him.' (Quran 9:114) Then, at that moment, I was seized with something that a child would be seized with from his father's compassion. And that is what made me cry." This hadith was narrated by Muslim through the narration of Yazid ibn Kaysan from Abu Hazim who heard it from Abu Hurairah, summarized by Ayyub bin Hani' from Ibn Ma'in.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out one day and we went out with him until we reached the graveyards. He commanded us and we sat down. Then he stepped over the graves until he reached a grave and sat beside it. He engaged in a long conversation with it and then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned, crying. We cried because of the crying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Then he approached us and Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) received him and said, "What has made you cry, O Messenger of Allah, for you have made us cry and caused us to be frightened?" He held Umar's hand and approached us and said, "Did my crying frighten you?" We said, "Yes." He said, "I saw the grave that you saw me conversing with, it is the grave of Umm Ammarah bint Wahb. I asked my Lord to seek forgiveness for her, but He did not permit me. And I was revealed the verse {It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to seek forgiveness for the Mushrikun} [Quran 9:113]. Then, I was given what a child takes from the back of his father, and that is what made me cry. Surely, I had prevented you from visiting the graves, but you should visit them, for they remind one of the Hereafter and make one disinterested in this world."

[Machine] We used to inform the Prophet ﷺ whenever one of us passed away, and he would attend the deceased and seek forgiveness for him. He would stay with him until he was buried, and sometimes this process would take a long time for the Prophet ﷺ . When we feared that this might be burdensome for him, some of the people said to others, "If we don't inform the Prophet ﷺ about someone's death until he is already buried, then he wouldn't have to go through any difficulty or delay." So we started doing that and would inform him about the deceased after they were buried, and he would come and offer prayers for them. Sometimes he would come immediately, and sometimes he would delay until the deceased was buried. We were doing this at that time, and then we said, "If the Prophet ﷺ himself attended our funeral and prayed for us at our homes, it would be even better." So we did that, and this practice continues till today.

[Machine] We used to be the ones who would inform the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a deceased person was brought before him. He would then come and seek forgiveness for the deceased until they were buried. Once the burial was complete, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and those with him would depart. Sometimes, the delay in the departure of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was prolonged. When we became concerned about the burden of waiting, some people said to each other, "By Allah, if we do not inform the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about someone's death until after the burial, it will not cause any hardship or inconvenience for him." They then proceeded to act upon this and began to inform him only after the burial had taken place. Thereafter, he would come, offer the prayer for the deceased, and seek forgiveness for them. Sometimes he would depart immediately afterwards, and sometimes he would stay until the deceased was buried." The narrator then added, "We continued in this manner for some time. Then we said, 'By Allah, if we do not inform the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and carry our deceased to him until he offers the funeral prayer at their graveside, it would be even more compassionate and easier for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .' [Machine] We used to inform the Prophet (PBUH) whenever one of us passed away, and he would come and seek forgiveness for the deceased until the burial was done. Sometimes he would sit along with us until the burial, and other times he would leave before that. It was burdensome for him, so some people suggested that we should not inform the Prophet (PBUH) until after the burial, so that he wouldn't have to go through the hardship. We followed their suggestion and informed him after the burial, and he would come and pray for the deceased. Sometimes he would leave immediately, and other times he would stay until the burial was done. We continued to do this until today.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on one day while he was with his wife Umm Salamah: "I desire some date palm (type of dates) called 'ajwah'. So she sent two handfuls of dates to a man from the Ansar (helpers of the Prophet). He brought back two handfuls of 'ajwah dates instead. She presented them to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and when he saw them, he was pleased. He took one date, then another, and then he held them and said, 'Where did you get these?' Umm Salamah said, 'I sent two handfuls of dates to a man from the Ansar, and he brought back two handfuls of these 'ajwah dates.' This is one of the handfuls.' He held the dates out before him and said, 'Return it; I have no need for this. Dates should be exchanged for dates, barley for barley, wheat for wheat, gold for gold, silver for silver, hand to hand, like for like, equal for equal. If there is more, it is usury.' Then he said, 'This is how it should be weighed and measured.' Ibn Abbas said, 'May Allah reward you, O Abu Sa'id, with Paradise, for you reminded me of something I had forgotten. I seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him.' After that, he disliked it (usury), and prohibited it more strongly."

Someone has sent two sa' (a measurement) of old dates to the house of a man from the Ansar. So I have been brought a substitute of one sa' of 'Ajwah' dates." Umm Salama presented it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he liked it. He ate one date and then held it in his hand, saying, "Where did you get this from?" She replied, "I sent two sa' of old dates to the house of so-and-so, and we exchanged them for this one sa' of 'Ajwah' dates." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw the date from his hand and said, "Return it, return it. I have no need for it. Dates are to be exchanged for dates, wheat for wheat, barley for barley, gold for gold, and silver for silver, in equal amounts and hand to hand. There should be no increase or decrease, so whoever gives or takes more has engaged in riba. And whatever is measured or weighed, Ibn 'Abbas said, "O Abu Sa'id, you reminded me of something I had forgotten. I seek Allah's forgiveness and repent to Him." Afterward, he strongly prohibited engaging in riba.

[Machine] We used to inform the Prophet, peace be upon him, when one of us passed away. The Prophet, peace be upon him, would then come and pray for the deceased. Sometimes, he and the people accompanying him would stay until the body was buried. This continued for some time and caused hardship to the Prophet, peace be upon him. So, some people said to each other, "If we do not inform the Prophet, peace be upon him, until the body is buried, there will be no hardship or delay." Therefore, we started informing him after the burial so that he would come and pray for the deceased.

[Machine] In Surah An-Nisa, there are five verses that please me, as they grant me the world and everything in it. "Indeed, Allah does not wrong [anyone] even the weight of an atom, and if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward." (4:40) "If you avoid the major sins which you have been forbidden, We will remove from you your lesser sins and admit you to a noble entrance [into Paradise]." (4:31) "Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills." (4:48) "And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful." "And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himself but then seeks forgiveness of Allah will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful." (4:110) Abdullah said, "It pleases me that I receive the world and everything in it through these verses." It is an authentic chain, but if Abdullah heard it from his father, then there is some disagreement on that. (Sahih)

[Machine] 'Akrama ibn Abi Jahl, when I reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I said, "O Muhammad, this person informed me that you have granted me safety." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You are indeed safe." So, I said, "I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner, and that you are the servant and Messenger of Allah. You are the most righteous, truthful, and faithful among the people." 'Akrama said, "I said this while bowing my head in humility. Then, I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, seek forgiveness for me from every enmity that I have shown towards anyone, or any assembly in which I have exhibited polytheism.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Allah, forgive 'Akrama for every enmity that he has shown towards me or any assembly he has joined, seeking to oppose Your path.' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, guide me to the best of what you know so that I may learn it.' He said, 'Say, "I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. I strive in His cause." Then 'Akrama said, 'By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, not a single coin did I leave that I would have spent in opposing the path of Allah, except that I spent double of it in the way of Allah. And I did not engage in any battle in opposition to the path of Allah, except that I received double of it in the way of Allah. Then I endeavored in fighting until I was martyred on the day of Ajnadeen during the caliphate of Abu Bakr, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had used me during his last pilgrimage to verify the weights used on the scales. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away, and on that day, 'Akrama died with great honor.'

[Machine] "When the first turmoil occurred, it troubled me, so I said, "O Allah, show me something from the matters of truth that I can hold onto." He said, "I showed you the worldly life and the Hereafter and between them is a wall that is not very high." And suddenly, I found myself on a hill and I said, "If I hold onto this hill, I might fall into the hands of my enemies, who are more courageous than me and will inform me." He said, "So I descended onto a piece of land with trees, and there was a group of people sitting. I asked them, "Are you the martyrs?" They replied, "No, we are the angels." I said, "Then where are the martyrs?" They said, "Go forward to the highest ranks, to Muhammad ﷺ ." So I went forward and suddenly, I found myself at a stage. Allah knows best what it represented, whether in terms of expansion or beauty. And then I found myself with Muhammad ﷺ and Ibrahim ﷺ . He (Muhammad) said to Ibrahim, "Seek forgiveness for my Ummah." But Ibrahim said to him, "You don't know what they will do after you. They will shed their blood and kill their leaders. Will they not do as my dear Khalil (Prophet Ibrahim's friend) did? (referring to Sa'd ibn Mu'adh). I said, "Show me, then I was shown Sa'd, and I saw with whom he was. So I went to him and told him about the dream, and he was very happy with it and said, "Woe to the one who does not have Ibrahim as his Khalil!" I asked, "Which of the two groups are you with?" He said, "I am not with either of them." I asked, "Then how do you command me?" He said, "Do you have a walking stick?" I said, "No." He said, "Then buy a walking stick and isolate yourself with it until the matter becomes clear."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say the following when his companions gathered around him and he wanted to get up: "Glory be to You, O Allah, and with Your praise. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You. I have done wrong and have oppressed myself, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You." We said, "O Messenger of Allah, are these words that you have newly introduced?" He replied, "Yes, Gabriel ﷺ came to me and said, 'O Muhammad, these are the expiations for the gathering."
