14. Book of Supplications (Duʿāʾ), and Rememberence and Glorification of Allah
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say: "O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from four things: Knowledge which does not profit, a heart which is not submissive, a soul which has an insatiable appetite, and a supplication which is not heard." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1548)
[Machine] The translation of the above sentence is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sought refuge from knowledge that does not benefit, supplication that is not answered, a heart that does not humbly fear Allah, and a soul that is never satisfied."
“Whoever asks for Paradise, three times, Paradise will say: “O Allah, admit him to Paradise.” And whoever asked to be saved from Hell, three times, Hell will say: “O Allah, save him from Hell.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4340)
l heard 'Umar bin al-Khattab say: When the Revelation came down to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a sound could be heard near his face like the buzzing of bees. We waited a while, then he turned to face the qiblah and raised his hands, then he said: “O Allah, give us more (blessing) and do not give us less; honour us and do not humiliate us, give to us and do not deprive us, give precedence to us and do not give others precedence over us; be pleased with us and make us pleased.” Then he said: “Ten verses have been revealed to me; whoever adheres to thern will enter Paradise.” Then he recited to us: “Successful indeed are the believers” [al-Mu'minoon 23:1] until he completed the ten verses. (Using translation from Aḥmad 223)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah is too merciful to be ashamed to turn away the hands of His servant empty-handed."
He saw the Messenger of Allah at Ahjar Az-Zait praying for rain and raising his hands, making supplications. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1514)
[Machine] I did not see the Prophet ﷺ waving his hands while calling from his pulpit or otherwise. Rather, he would raise his two fingers towards his shoulders and then make supplication.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, "One, One." This Sunnah has been narrated from Saad ibn Abi Waqqas.
The Prophet ﷺ passed by me while I was supplicating by pointing with two fingers of mine. He said: Point with one finger; point with one finger. He then himself pointed with the forefinger. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1499)
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, used to keep his hands extended in supplication, and would not retract them until he wiped his face with them." And it has been narrated from Abdullah bin Abbas.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you ask Allah, ask Him with the palms of your hands and do not ask Him with the backs of them, and wipe your faces with them."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "No people gather together in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that tranquility descends upon them, mercy covers them, the angels surround them, and Allah mentions them amongst those who are with Him. And whoever is hindered by his deeds will obtain it when he stops doing them."
