[Machine] He narrated that he said, "And certainly, We have given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an." He said, "It is the mother of the Qur'an." My father recited to me, Sa'id bin Jubayr, "In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful." [Surah Al-Fatiha 1] the seventh verse. Sa'id bin Jubayr recited it to me, and Ibn Abbas also recited it to me as I recited it to you. Then he said, "In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful." [Surah Al-Fatiha 1] the seventh verse. Ibn Abbas said, "Allah has revealed it to you and never revealed it to anyone before you."  

أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ {وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِنَ الْمَثَانِي} [الحجر 87] قَالَ هِيَ أُمُّ الْقُرْآنِ قَالَ أَبِي وَقَرَأَ عَلَيَّ سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ {بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ} [الفاتحة 1] الْآيَةَ السَّابِعَةَ قَالَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ وَقَرَأَهَا عَلَيَّ ابْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ كَمَا قَرَأْتُهَا عَلَيْكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ {بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ} [الفاتحة 1] الْآيَةُ السَّابِعَةُ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ «فَأَخْرَجَهَا اللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَمَا أَخْرَجَهَا لِأَحَدٍ قَبْلَكُمْ»  

[Machine] He said, "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, is it a verse from the Book of Allah?" He said, "Yes." Then he said, "Ibn Abbas recited it, 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,' in both raka'ahs."  

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ آيَةٌ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ قَرَأَهَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ جَمِيعًا  

[Machine] "And indeed We have granted you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an." (Surah Al-Hijr 15:87)

He (Said bin Jubair) recited it to me as, "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" (Surah Al-Fatiha 1) when he completed it, and he said, "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" (Surah Al-Fatiha 1) is the seventh verse. And Sa'id bin Jubair said to me, 'Indeed Allah has brought it out for you, and He did not bring it out for anyone before you.'"  

{وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِنَ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ} [الحجر 87] قَالَ وَقَرَأَهَا عَلَيَّ سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ {بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ} [الفاتحة 1] حِينَ خَتَمَهَا وَقَالَ {بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ} [الفاتحة 1] الْآيَةُ السَّابِعَةُ قَالَ وَقَالَ لِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ «قَدْ أَخْرَجَهَا اللَّهُ لَكُمْ فَمَا أَخْرَجَهَا لِأَحَدٍ قَبْلَكُمْ»  

[Machine] "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds." [Al-Fatiha 2] So I said to my father, 'Saeed informed you that Ibn Abbas said, "Is 'Bismillah Hir-Rahman Nir-Rahim' a verse from the Book of Allah?"' He said, 'Yes.'"  

{بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ} [الفاتحة 2] فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي فَقَدْ أَخْبَرَكَ سَعِيدٌ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ «بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ آيَةٌ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ  

[Machine] "The Opening of the Book" it was said to Ibn Abbas, "Where is the seventh one?" He said, "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful." [Al-Fatiha 1]  

فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى {وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِنَ الْمَثَانِي} [الحجر 87] قَالَ «فَاتِحَةُ الْكِتَابِ» قِيلَ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَأَيْنَ السَّابِعَةُ قَالَ { «بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ» } [الفاتحة 1]  

[Machine] "He counted it for me in my hand {In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us on the Straight Path, the path of those who have received Your grace; not the path of those who have brought down wrath upon themselves, nor of those who have gone astray.} Then he said, 'Allah brought it out for you, and not for anyone else.'"  

فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى السَّبْعَ الْمَثَانِي قَالَ «عَدَّهَا عَلَيَّ فِي يَدِي {بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ} » ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَخْرَجَهَا اللَّهُ لَكُمْ فَمَا أَخْرَجَهَا لَغَيْرِكُمْ»  

[Machine] "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful." [Chapter 1, Al-Fatiha] Ibn Abbas said, "And Allah has kept it preserved for you, so no one before you has brought it out."  

{بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ} [الفاتحة 1] السَّابِعَةُ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ «وَقَدِ ادَّخَرَهَا اللَّهُ لَكُمْ فَمَا أَخْرَجَهَا لِأَحَدٍ قَبْلَكُمْ»  

[Machine] Uthman ibn Affan asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about "Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim." He said, "It is a name among the names of Allah, and there is nothing between it and the name of Allah al-Akbar except like the difference between the blackness and whiteness of the eye from its proximity."  

أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ فَقَالَ «هُوَ اسْمٌ مِنْ أَسْمَاءِ اللَّهِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ اسْمِ اللَّهِ الْأَكْبَرِ إِلَّا كَمَا بَيْنَ سَوَّادِ الْعَيْنِ وَبَيَاضِهَا مِنَ الْقُرْبِ»  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever recites the Quran has indeed brought himself closer to prophethood, though he does not receive revelation. It is not appropriate for the companion of the Quran to associate with those who cut off ties, nor to remain ignorant when others are ignorant. The words of Allah, the Most High, are within his chest.'"  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ فَقَدِ اسْتَدَرَجَ النُّبُوَّةَ بَيْنَ جَنْبَيْهِ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ لَا يُوحَى إِلَيْهِ لَا يَنْبَغِي لِصَاحِبِ الْقُرْآنِ أَنْ يَحِدَّ مَعَ مَنْ حَدَّ وَلَا يَجْهَلَ مَعَ مَنْ جَهِلَ وَفِي جَوْفِهِ كَلَامُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى»  

that the Prophet ﷺ said: "The one who memorized the Qur'an shall come on the Day of Judgement and (the reward for reciting the Qur'an) says: 'O Lord! Decorate him." So he is donned with a crown of nobility. Then it says: "O Lord! Give him more!' So he is donned with a suit of nobility. Then it says: "O Lord! Be pleased with him.' So He is pleased with him and says: "Recite and rise up, and be increased in reward with every Ayah.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2915)   

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ يَجِيءُ صَاحِبُ الْقُرْآنِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيَقُولُ الْقُرْآنُ يَا رَبِّ حَلِّهِ فَيُلْبَسُ تَاجَ الْكَرَامَةِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ زِدْهُ يَا رَبِّ ارْضَ عَنْهُ فَيَرْضَى عَنْهُ وَيُقَالُ لَهُ اقْرِهِ وَارْقَهْ وَيَزْدَادُ بِكُلِّ آيَةٍ حَسَنَةً «»  

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "On the Day of Judgment, it will be said to the companion of the Quran: 'Recite, rise in status and recite with a melodious voice as you used to recite in the worldly life. Indeed, your rank will be at the very last verse you recite.'"  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «يُقَالُ لِصَاحِبِ الْقُرْآنِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ اقْرَهْ وَارْقَهْ وَرَتِّلْ كَمَا كُنْتَ تُرَتِّلُ فَإِنَّ مَنْزِلَتَكَ فِي آخِرِ آيَةٍ تَقْرَؤُهَا»  

[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: The first book was revealed through one door and on one letter. The Quran was revealed through seven doors and on seven letters, commanding and prohibiting, declaring lawful and unlawful, with unambiguous verses and ambiguous verses, and examples. So make lawful what it permits, and prohibit what it forbids, and do what you are commanded to do, and refrain from what you are prohibited from, and consider its examples, and follow its unambiguous verses, and believe in its ambiguous verses, and say, "We believe in it; all of it is from our Lord."  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ نَزَلَ الْكِتَابُ الْأَوَّلُ مِنْ بَابٍ وَاحِدٍ عَلَى حَرْفٍ وَاحِدٍ وَنَزَلَ الْقُرْآنُ مِنْ سَبْعَةِ أَبْوَابٍ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ زَاجِرًا وَآمِرًا وَحَلَالًا وَحَرَامًا وَمُحْكَمًا وَمُتَشَابِهًا وَأَمْثَالًا فَأَحِلُّوا حَلَالَهُ وَحَرِّمُوا حَرَامَهُ وَافْعَلُوا مَا أُمِرْتُمْ بِهِ وَانْتَهُوا عَمَّا نُهِيتُمْ عَنْهُ وَاعْتَبِرُوا بَأَمْثَالِهِ وَاعْمَلُوا بِمُحْكَمِهِ وَآمِنُوا بِمُتَشَابِهِهِ وَقُولُوا آمَنَّا بِهِ كُلٌّ مِنْ عِنْدِ رَبِّنَا  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, "Hold fast to this Quran, for it is more eloquent and detailed than the chests of men in relation to their camels, and none of you should say, 'I have forgotten a verse,' instead, it is a case of being made to forget."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «تَعَاهَدُوا هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ فَإِنَّهُ وَحْشِيٌّ أَشَدُّ تَفَصِّيًا مِنْ صُدُورِ الرِّجَالِ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ مِنْ عُقُلِهَا وَلَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ نَسِيتُ آيَةَ كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ بَلْ هُوَ نُسِّيَ»  

[Machine] "He used to recite while sitting on the porch of his house, and he had a beautiful voice. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and said, 'I heard you reciting while something like a cloud overshadowed you, and there was a woman in the house and a horse in the yard, so I feared that the woman would fall and the horse would run away. So I left.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, 'Continue reciting, O master, for it was an angel who was listening to the Quran.'"  

أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ وَهُوَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ بَيْتِهِ وَهُوَ حَسَنُ الصَّوْتِ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ بَيْنَا أقْرَأُ إِذْ غَشِيَنِي شَيْءٌ كَالسَّحَابِ وَالْمَرْأَةُ فِي الْبَيْتِ وَالْفَرَسُ فِي الدَّارِ فَتَخَوَّفْتُ أَنْ تَسْقُطَ الْمَرْأَةُ وَتَنْفَلِتَ الْفَرَسُ فَانْصَرَفْتُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اقْرَأْ يَا أُسَيْدُ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ مَلَكٌ اسْتَمَعَ الْقُرْآنَ»  

[Machine] "That Usayd ibn Hudayr came to the Prophet ﷺ and recited the Hadith in its manner and said in it, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Recite, Usayd, recite, Usayd, for indeed, that is an angel who listens to the Quran.'"  

أَنَّ أُسَيْدَ بْنَ حُضَيْرٍ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِنَحْوِهِ وَقَالَ فِيهِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اقْرَأْ أُسَيْدُ اقْرَأْ أُسَيْدُ فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ مَلَكٌ يَسْتَمِعُ الْقُرْآنَ»  

[Machine] He said, "While I was reciting Surah Al-Baqarah tonight, when I reached its end, I heard a noise from behind me and thought that my horse was being released. He said, 'Recite, O Abu 'Atiq,' and I turned around, and behold, there were lamps suspended between the heavens and the earth." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, I swear by Allah, I am not capable of continuing." He said, "Those are the angels who have descended to listen to the recitation of the Quran. Surely if you had continued, you would have seen wonders."  

أَنَّهُ قَالَ بَيْنَا أَنَا أَقْرَأُ اللَّيْلَةَ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ فَلَمَّا انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى آخِرِهَا سَمِعْتُ وَجْبَةً مِنْ خَلْفِي فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّ فَرَسِي تُطْلَقُ فَقَالَ «اقْرَأْ أَبَا عَتِيكٍ وَالْتَفَتُّ فَإِذَا أَمْثَالُ الْمَصَابِيحِ مُدَلَّاةٌ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ» فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهِ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ أَنْ أَمْضِيَ قَالَ فَقَالَ «تِلْكَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ نَزَلَتْ لِقِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ أَمَا إِنَّكَ لَوْ مَضَيْتَ لَرَأَيْتَ الْعَجَائِبَ»  

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Fasting and the Quran will intercede for the servant on the Day of Resurrection: Fasting will say, 'O Lord, I prevented him from food and desires during the day, so let me intercede for him.' The Quran will say. 'O Lord, I prevented him from sleeping during the night, so let me intercede for him.'" He said, "˹Thus˺ they will both intercede for him.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 6626)   

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ الصِّيَامُ وَالْقُرْآنُ يَشْفَعَانِ لِلْعَبْدِ يَقُولُ الصِّيَامُ رَبِّ إِنِّي مَنَعْتُهُ الطَّعَامَ وَالشَّهَوَاتِ بِالنَّهَارِ فَشَفِّعْنِي فِيهِ وَيَقُولُ الْقُرْآنُ مَنَعْتُهُ النَّوْمَ بِاللَّيْلِ فَيُشَفَّعَانِ «»  

[Machine] The translation of the Arabic phrase "عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ الَّذِي لَيْسَ فِي جَوْفِهِ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ شَيْءٌ كَالْبَيْتِ الْخَرِبِ»" into English is: "The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever does not have anything from the Quran in his heart is like a ruined house."  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ الَّذِي لَيْسَ فِي جَوْفِهِ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ شَيْءٌ كَالْبَيْتِ الْخَرِبِ»  

The Prophet ﷺ said: One who recites the Qur'an in a loud voice is like one who gives alms openly; and one who recites the Qur'an quietly is one who gives alms secretly. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1333)   

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «الْجَاهِرُ بِالْقُرْآنِ كَالْجَاهِرِ بِالصَّدَقَةِ وَالْمُسِرُّ بِالْقُرْآنِ كَالْمُسِرِّ بِالصَّدَقَةِ» حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الْبُخَارِيِّ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ  

that the Prophet ﷺ said: "You shall not return to Allah with what is more virtuous than what came from Him." Meaning the Qur'an. (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2912)   

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّكُمْ لَا تَرْجِعُونَ إِلَى اللَّهِ بِشَيْءٍ أَفْضَلَ مِمَّا خَرَجَ مِنْهُ» يَعْنِي الْقُرْآنَ  

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Indeed, this Quran is the banquet of Allah, so accept from His banquet what you can. Indeed, this Quran is the rope of Allah, the bright light, and the beneficial cure. It is a protection for those who hold onto it and a means of salvation for those who follow it. It does not deviate, so it should be sought for refuge and it does not twist, so it should be reinforced. Its wonders do not cease to exist and it is not created by the abundance of repetition. Recite it, for indeed, Allah rewards you for every letter with ten good deeds. I do not say 'Alif, Lam, Meem' is one letter, but rather 'Alif' is one letter, 'Lam' is one letter, and 'Meem' is one letter."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ مَأْدُبَةُ اللَّهِ فَاقْبَلُوا مِنْ مَأْدُبَتِهِ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ إِنَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ حَبْلُ اللَّهِ وَالنُّورُ الْمُبِينُ وَالشِّفَاءُ النَّافِعُ عِصْمَةٌ لِمَنْ تَمَسَّكَ بِهِ وَنَجَاةٌ لِمَنْ تَبِعَهُ لَا يَزِيغُ فَيُسْتَعْتَبَ وَلَا يَعْوَجُّ فَيُقَوَّمُ وَلَا تَنْقَضِي عَجَائِبُهُ وَلَا يَخْلَقُ مِنْ كَثْرَةِ الرَّدِّ اتْلُوهُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْجُرُكُمْ عَلَى تِلَاوَتِهِ كُلَّ حَرْفٍ عَشْرَ حَسَنَاتٍ أَمَا إِنِّي لَا أَقُولُ الم حَرْفٌ وَلَكِنْ أَلِفٌ وَلَامٌ وَمِيمٌ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever recites ten verses in one night, will not be recorded among the heedless."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ قَرَأَ عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ فِي لَيْلَةٍ لَمْ يُكْتَبْ مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ»  

[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, he said: "Whoever recites ten verses in a night, will not be recorded among those who are heedless, and whoever recites one hundred verses will be recorded among the devout."  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ قَرَأَ عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ فِي لَيْلَةٍ لَمْ يُكْتَبْ مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ وَمَنْ قَرَأَ مِائَةَ آيَةٍ كُتِبَ مِنَ الْقَانِتِينَ»  

"The Quran will come on the Day of Resurrection, like a pale man, and will say: 'I am the one that kept you awake at night and made you thirsty during the day." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3781)   

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْقُرْآنُ كَالرَّجُلِ الشَّابِّ فَيَقُولُ لِصَاحِبِهِ أَنَا الَّذِي أَسْهَرْتُ لَيْلَكَ وَأَظْمَأْتُ نَهَارَكَ «»  

[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Prophet of Allah, I have bought a piece of land from the sons of so-and-so for a certain amount. Should I inform you about something that is more valuable than it?" The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Is there anything more valuable than it?" The man replied, "A person who memorized ten verses." The man then went and memorized ten verses and came back to inform the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ told him, "If 'Amr bin Khalid transmitted it through Salim bin Abi Al-Ja'd and if the narrators from Basra among the Muhajirun confirmed it, then it is authentic according to the conditions of Muslim except that the Basris among the Mu'tamirin (people who had performed Umrah) differed in its narration."  

أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ اشْتَرَيْتُ مِقْسَمَ بَنِي فُلَانٍ فِي تَخْتٍ فِيهِ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ «أَفَلَا أُنَبِّئُكَ بِمَا هُوَ أَكْثَرُ مِنْهُ رِيحًا؟» قَالَ وَهَلْ يُوجَدُ؟ قَالَ «رَجُلٌ تَعَلَّمَ عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ» فَذَهَبَ الرَّجُلُ فَتَعَلَّمَ عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ «إِنْ كَانَ عَمْرُو بْنُ خَالِدٍ حَفِظَ فِي إِسْنَادِهِ سَالِمَ بْنَ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ فَإِنَّهُ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ غَيْرَ أَنَّ الْبَصْرِيِّينَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْمُعْتَمِرِ خَالَفُوهُ فِيهِ»  

This tradition has also been narrated on the authority of ‘A’ishah through a different chain. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 99)  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ نَحْوَهُ  

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Allah has His own people among mankind.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, who are they?' He said: 'The people of the Qur'an, the people of Allah and those who are closest to Him.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 215)   

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ لِلَّهِ أَهْلِينَ مِنَ النَّاسِ» قَالُوا مَنْ هُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «أَهْلُ الْقُرْآنِ هُمْ أَهْلُ اللَّهِ وَخَاصَّتُهُ» «وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ مِنْ ثَلَاثَةِ أَوْجُهٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ هَذَا أَمِثْلُهَا»  

[Machine] "When we used to learn ten verses from the Quran from the Prophet ﷺ , we would not learn from the next ten verses that were revealed until we understood what was in them." It was said to a partner in work, and he said, "Yes."  

«كُنَّا إِذَا تَعَلَّمْنَا مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ لَمْ نَتَعَلَّمْ مِنَ الْعَشْرِ الَّذِي نَزَلَتْ بَعْدَهَا حَتَّى نَعْلَمَ مَا فِيهِ» قِيلَ لِشَرِيكٍ مِنَ الْعَمَلِ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shall I not teach you a Surah that was not revealed in the Torah, nor in the Injeel, nor in the Zabur, and not even in the Quran like it?" I said, "Certainly." He said, "Verily, I hope that it will not depart from this door until you learn it." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and I stood up with him, and he started to teach me and I had my hand in his hand. I began to slow down, disliking to go ahead before he informed me about it. When I reached the door, I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the Surah that you promised to teach me?' He said, 'How will you recite it when you stand to perform the prayer?' So I recited Al-Fatiha, and he said, 'It is this, it is this.' And it is the seven repeatedly recited verses and the great Quran that Allah, the Almighty, says, 'And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an.' (Surah Al-Hijr 15:87), that which I was given."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ سُورَةً مَا أُنْزِلَتْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَلَا فِي الْإِنْجِيلِ وَلَا فِي الزَّبُورِ وَلَا فِي الْقُرْآنِ مِثْلُهَا؟» قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ «إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ لَا تَخْرُجَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْبَابِ حَتَّى تَعْلَمَهَا» فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقُمْتُ مَعَهُ فَجَعَلَ يُحَدِّثُنِي وَيَدِي فِي يَدِهِ فَجَعَلْتُ أَتَبَاطَأُ كَرَاهِيَةَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُخْبِرُنِي بِهَا فَلَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنَ الْبَابِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ السُّورَةُ الَّتِي وَعَدْتَنِي فَقَالَ «كَيْفَ تَقْرَأُ إِذَا قُمْتَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ؟» فَقَرَأْتُ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ فَقَالَ هِيَ هِيَ وَهِيَ السَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي الَّتِي قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ {وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِنَ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ} [الحجر 87] الَّذِي أُعْطِيتُ «»  

[Machine] He informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Ubayy bin Ka'b while he was praying. When he finished his prayer, he placed his hand on Ubayy's hand and said, while he intended to leave through the door of the masjid, "I hope that you do not leave the masjid until you learn a Surah that has been revealed in the Torah, the Injeel, and the Qur'an, like it." Ubayy said, "So I slowed down in my walking, hoping for that. Then I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, which Surah did you promise me?' He said, 'How do you recite it when the prayer is first opened?' I said, "I recite, All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds" until I reached its end. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'It is this Surah and it is the seven repeated verses and the Glorious Qur'an which I have been given.'"  

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِأُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ كَفَّهُ قَالَ فَوَضَعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَدَهُ عَلَى يَدِي قَالَ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ مِنْ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي أَرْجُو أَنْ لَا تَخْرُجَ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى تَعْلَمَ سُورَةً مَا أُنْزِلَ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَلَا فِي الْإِنْجِيلِ وَلَا فِي الْقُرْآنِ مِثْلُهَا» قَالَ فَجَعَلْتُ أَتَبَاطَأُ فِي الْمَشْيِ رَجَاءَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ السُّورَةُ الَّتِي وَعَدْتَنِي قَالَ «كَيْفَ تَقْرَأُ إِذَا افْتُتِحَتِ الصَّلَاةُ؟» قَالَ فَقَرَأْتُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ حَتَّى أَتَيْتُ عَلَى آخِرِهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «هِيَ هَذِهِ السُّورَةُ وَهِيَ السَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنُ الْعَظِيمُ الَّذِي أُعْطِيتُ»  

[Machine] "He (the narrator) recited upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , 'Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds,' until he completed it, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, it is the seven often repeated (verses) and the great Qur'an that I have been given.' 'And I found that for the narration of Abdul Hamid ibn Ja'far, a witness to hearing from Abu Hurairah, this hadith from Ubay ibn Ka'b from the narration of the people of Madinah.'"  

أَنَّهُ قَرَأَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ حَتَّى خَتَمَهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّهَا السَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنُ الْعَظِيمُ الَّذِي أُعْطِيتُ» «وَقَدْ وَجَدْتُ لِحَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ شَاهِدًا فِي سَمَاعِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ مِنْ حَدِيثِ الْمَدَنِيِّينَ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ called Ubbay ibn Ka'b while he was praying, but Ubbay did not answer him. The Prophet asked, "What prevented you from answering me, O Ubbay?" Ubbay replied, "I was praying." The Prophet reminded him, saying, "Did Allah, the Exalted, not say: 'Respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you'?" Ubbay then said, "I will not leave the mosque until you teach me a surah that Allah has revealed in the Torah, the Injeel, and the Zabur, like this one. Indeed, it is the Seven Oft-Repeated [Verses], which I have been given exclusively, and it is the Great Quran." This statement has been reported by Imam al-Bukhari in his Sahih, in the hadith narrated by Ibn Abi Dhi'b from Sa'id al-Maqburi from Abu Hurairah from the Prophet ﷺ , who said, "The praise is due to Allah, the Mother of the Quran, the Seven Oft-Repeated [Verses], and the Great Quran."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَادَى أُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ فَقَالَ «مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تُجِيبَنِي يَا أُبَيُّ» فَقَالَ كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي فَقَالَ أَلَمْ يَقُلِ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى {اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ} [الأنفال 24] لَا تَخْرُجْ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى أُعَلِّمَكَ سُورَةً مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ وَالزَّبُورِ مِثْلَهَا وَإِنَّهَا السَّبْعُ الَّذِي أُوتِيتُ الطُّوَلَ وَإِنَّهَا الْقُرْآنُ الْعَظِيمُ «» قَدْ أَخْرَجَ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الْجَامِعِ الصَّحِيحِ حَدِيثَ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ أُمُّ الْقُرْآنِ وَالسَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنُ الْعَظِيمُ» هَذِهِ اللفظةُ فَقَطْ  

[Machine] While Jibril ﷺ was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he heard a creaking sound from the sky. He raised his head and said, "A door has been opened in the sky that has never been opened before. Behold, there is an angel saying, 'Rejoice in two lights that you have been given, which no prophet before you has been granted: the opening chapter of the Book (Al-Fatiha) and the concluding verses of Surah Al-Baqarah. You will not recite a letter from them except that you will be given it.'"  

بَيْنَا جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ جَالِسٌ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذْ سَمِعَ نَقِيضًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ فُتِحَ بَابٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ لَمْ يُفْتَحْ قَبْلَهُ قَطُّ فَإِذَا مَلَكٌ يَقُولُ أَبْشِرْ بِنُورَيْنِ أُوتِيتَهُمَا لَمْ يُؤْتَهُمَا نَبِيٌّ قَبْلَكَ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ وَخَوَاتِيمَ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ لَمْ تَقْرَأْ مِنْهَا حَرْفًا إِلَّا أُعْطِيتَهُ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "I was given the Opening of the Book (i.e., Al-Fatiha) from beneath the Throne, and the last verses of Surah Al-Baqarah."  

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أُعْطِيتُ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ مِنْ تَحْتِ الْعَرْشِ وَالْمُفَصَّلَ النَّافِلَةَ»  

[Machine] "We sent the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a battle or military expedition, and we passed by the people of Abiyat and sought their hospitality, but they did not offer us any. So we moved on and their leader was bitten by a snake. They came to us and asked if anyone among us can heal, and I said, 'I can heal.' They said, 'Then go with our leader.' I replied, 'No, we sought your hospitality and you did not offer us any.' They said, 'Okay, we will give you thirty sheep.' So I went with them, performed Ruqyah (healing through recitation) and recited Surah Al-Fatiha for him until he recovered. Then I took the sheep, but I did not feel comfortable eating them without asking the Messenger of Allah ﷺ first. So we approached him and told him the whole story. He said, 'What made you know that it was a Ruqyah?' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I did not know it was a Ruqyah, but something Allah has put in me.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Eat and share with me a portion.'"  

بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي غَزَاةٍ أَوْ سَرِيَّةٍ فَمَرَرْنَا عَلَى أَهْلِ أَبْيَاتٍ فَاسْتَضَفْنَاهُمْ فَلَمْ يُضَيِّفُونَا فَنَزَلْنَا بِأُخْرَى وَلُدِغَ سَيِّدُهُمْ فَأَتَوْنَا فَقَالُوا هَلْ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ يَرْقِي فَقُلْتُ أَنَا رَاقٍ قَالَ فَارْقِ صَاحِبَنَا قُلْتُ لَا قَدِ اسْتَضَفْنَاكُمْ فَلَمْ تُضَيِّفُونَا قَالُوا فَإِنَّا نُجَعِّلُ لَكُمْ فَجَعَلُوا لَنَا ثَلَاثِينَ شَاةً قَالَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَجَعَلْتُ أَمْسَحُهُ وَأَقْرَأُ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ وَأُرَدِّدُهَا حَتَّى بَرَأَ فَأَخَذْنَا الشِّيَاهَ فَقُلْنَا أَخَذْنَاهُ وَنَحْنُ لَا نُحْسِنُ أَنْ نَرْقِيَ مَا نَحْنُ بِالَّذِي نَأْكُلُهَا حَتَّى نَسْأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَتَيْنَاهُ فَذَكَرْنَا لَهُ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ «وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ أَنَّهَا رُقْيَةٌ؟» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا دَرَيْتُ أَنَّهَا رُقْيَةٌ وَلَكِنْ شَيْءٌ أَلْقَى اللَّهُ فِي نَفْسِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كُلُوا وَاضْرِبُوا لِي مَعَكُمْ بِسَهْمٍ»  

[Machine] He passed by a group of people who had a chained madman with them. One of them said to him, "Do you have anything that can heal this person? For your companion has brought something good." He replied, "I recited Surah Al-Fatiha upon him twice a day for three consecutive days, and he was cured." So they gave him a hundred sheep. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned this to him, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever eats from a false incantation has indeed eaten from a true one."  

أَنَّهُ مَرَّ بِقَوْمٍ وَعِنْدَهُمْ مَجْنُونٌ مُوثَقٌ فِي الْحَدِيدِ فَقَالَ لَهُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَعِنْدَكَ شَيْءٌ يُدَاوَى بِهِ هَذَا فَإِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ قَدْ جَاءَ بِخَيْرٍ قَالَ فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ مَرَّتَيْنِ فَبَرَأَ فَأَعْطَاهُ مِائَةَ شَاةٍ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ «كُلْ فَمَنْ أَكَلَ بِرُقْيَةِ بَاطِلٍ فَقَدْ أَكَلْتَ بِرُقْيَةِ حَقٍّ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was on a journey when a man came and stood beside him. The Prophet ﷺ turned to him and said, "Shall I not inform you of the best of the Quran?" The man replied, "Indeed, please recite it to me." Then the Prophet ﷺ recited, "All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds."  

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي مَسِيرٍ فَنَزَلَ وَنَزَلَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى جَانِبِهِ قَالَ فَالْتَفَتَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِأَفْضَلِ الْقُرْآنِ قَالَ فَتَلَا عَلَيْهِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ «»  

[Machine] I was sitting with the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "Learn Surah Al-Baqarah and Surah Al-Imran, for they are the two radiant lights that will shade their companion on the Day of Resurrection, like two clouds, or two shades, or two flocks of birds in rows."  

كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «تَعَلَّمُوا سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ وَآلِ عِمْرَانَ فَإِنَّهُمَا الزَّهْرَاوَانِ يُظِلَّانِ صَاحِبَهُمَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كَأَنَّهُمَا غَمَامَتَانِ أَوْ غَيَايَتَانِ أَوْ فِرْقَانِ مِنْ طَيْرٍ صَوَافَّ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, everything has a pinnacle, and the pinnacle of the Quran is Surah Al-Baqarah." It was narrated by Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah from Hakim bin Jubair with an addition in it.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ سَنَامًا وَسَنَامُ الْقُرْآنِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ» رَوَاهُ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ بِزِيَادَةٍ فِيهِ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "In Surah Al-Baqarah, there is a verse that is the chief of all verses in the Qur'an. It is not recited in a house where there is a devil except that the devil leaves that house. It is the verse of Al-Kursi."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ فِيهَا آيَةٌ سَيِّدُ آيِ الْقُرْآنِ لَا يُقْرَأُ فِي بَيْتٍ وَفِيهِ شَيْطَانٌ إِلَّا خَرَجَ مِنْهُ آيَةُ الْكُرْسِيِّ»  

[Machine] "Every thing has a summit, and the summit of the Quran is Surah Al-Baqarah. And when Satan hears Surah Al-Baqarah being recited, he retreats from the house in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited."  

«إِنَّ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ سَنَامًا وَسَنَامُ الْقُرْآنِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ وَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ إِذَا سَمِعَ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ تُقْرَأُ خَرَجَ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ الَّذِي يُقْرَأُ فِيهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I was given Surah Al-Baqarah from the first remembrance."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أُعْطِيتُ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ مِنَ الذِّكْرِ الْأَوَّلِ»  

[Machine] From Abu Al-Ahwas  

عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Read Surah Al-Baqarah in your homes, for indeed Satan does not enter a house in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اقْرَءُوا سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَدْخُلُ بَيْتًا يُقْرَأُ فِيهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ»  

[Machine] He had a garden of dates, but he found it diminishing, so he guarded it one night. Behold, there he is like a young boy. He greeted him and he returned the greeting, saying, "Are you a jinn or a human?" He said, "Rather, I am a jinn." He said, "Show me your hand." So he showed it and his hand had the appearance of a dog's hand and fur. He said, "This is how the jinn are created." He said, "The jinn knew that there is no man among them stronger than me." He said, "What brought you?" He said, "We were informed that you love to give charity, so we came to have our share of your food." He said, "What prevents us from you?" He said, "Recite Ayat al-Kursi from Surah Al-Baqarah {Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence}. [Al-Baqarah 255]" He said, "Yes." He said, "If you recite it in the morning, you will be protected from us until the evening, and if you recite it in the evening, you will be protected from us until the morning." Ubayy said: So I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him about that, and he said, "He has spoken the truth, but he is a wicked one."  

أَنَّهُ كَانَ لَهُ جَرِينُ تَمْرٍ فَكَانَ يَجِدُهُ يَنْقُصُ فَحَرَسَهُ لَيْلَةً فَإِذَا هُوَ بِمِثْلِ الْغُلَامِ الْمُحْتَلِمِ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامَ فَقَالَ أَجِنِّيٌّ أَمْ إِنْسِيٌّ؟ فَقَالَ بَلْ جِنِّيٌّ فَقَالَ أَرِنِي يَدَكَ فَأَرَاهُ فَإِذَا يَدُ كَلْبٍ وَشَعْرُ كَلْبٍ فَقَالَ هَكَذَا خَلْقُ الْجِنِّ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ الْجِنُّ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ أَشَدُّ مِنِّي قَالَ مَا جَاءَ بِكَ قَالَ أُنْبِئْنَا أَنَّكَ تُحِبُّ الصَّدَقَةَ فَجِئْنَا نُصِيبُ مِنْ طَعَامِكَ قَالَ مَا يُجِيرُنَا مِنْكُمْ؟ قَالَ تَقْرَأُ آيَةَ الْكُرْسِيِّ مِنْ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ {اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ} [البقرة 255] قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ إِذَا قَرَأْتَهَا غُدْوَةً أُجِرْتَ مِنَّا حَتَّى تُمْسِيَ وَإِذَا قَرَأْتَهَا حِينَ تُمْسِي أُجِرْتَ مِنَّا حَتَّى تُصْبِحَ قَالَ أُبَيٌّ فَغَدَوْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «صَدَقَ الْخَبِيثُ»  

that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed Allah wrote in a book two thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth, and He sent down two Ayat from it to end Surat Al-Baqarah with. If they are recited for three nights in a home, no Shaitan shall come near it." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2882)   

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى كَتَبَ كِتَابًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِأَلْفَيْ عَامٍ وَأَنْزَلَ مِنْهُ آيَتَيْنِ خَتَمَ بِهِمَا سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ وَلَا تُقْرَآنِ فِي دَارٍ فَيَقْرَبُهَا الشَّيْطَانُ ثَلَاثَ لَيَالٍ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, "Verily, Allah concluded the Surah Al-Baqarah with two verses which He has granted me from His treasures beneath the throne. Learn and teach them to your wives, for indeed they are a prayer, recitation of the Quran, and supplication."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَتَمَ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ بِآيَتَيْنِ أَعْطَانِيهِمَا مِنْ كَنْزِهِ الَّذِي تَحْتَ الْعَرْشِ فَتَعَلَّمُوهُنَّ وَعَلِّمُوهُنَّ نِسَاءَكُمْ فَإِنَّهَا صَلَاةٌ وَقُرْآنٌ وَدُعَاءٌ»  

[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , there is a narration from Muslim Ibn Malik Al-Ashja'i from Rabi'i Ibn Hiraash from Hudhayfah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have been given the seal rings of Surah Al-Baqarah from a treasure beneath the Throne."  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِثْلَهُ وَقَدْ أَخْرَجَ مُسْلِمٌ حَدِيثَ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «أُعْطِيتُ خَوَاتِيمَ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ مِنْ كَنْزٍ تَحْتَ الْعَرْشِ»  

[Machine] He made me the messenger of Allah ﷺ in charge of the Muslims' charity, so I placed the dates in a room. I found that there was a decrease in the amount, so I informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He said, "This is the work of the devil." I entered the room and closed the door behind me. An immense darkness covered the door, then it took the form of an elephant, and then it took another form. It entered through a crack in the door, so I tightened my garment around me. It started eating from the dates, and I crawled towards it until I was able to capture it with my hands. I said, "O enemy of Allah!" It said, "Leave me, for I am an old jinn with many offspring, and I am poor. Before your companion was sent, this village used to belong to us, but when he was sent, we were expelled from it. Leave me and I won't come back to you." So, I let it go. Jibril ﷺ came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him of what happened. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Fajr prayer and called out, "Where is Mu'adh bin Jabal?" I went to him and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked me, "What happened to your captive, O Mu'adh?" I informed him, and he said, "Indeed, it will return." It came back, and I entered the room and closed the door behind me. It entered through the crack in the door and started eating from the dates. I dealt with it as I did the first time, and it said, "Leave me, for I won't come back to you." I said, "O enemy of Allah! Didn't you say you won't come back?" It replied, "I won't come back, and the sign of this is that nobody among you should recite the concluding verses of Surah Al-Baqarah tonight and one of us will enter the house that night."  

جَعَلَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى صَدَقَةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَجَعَلْتُ الثَّمَرَ فِي غُرْفَةٍ فَوَجَدْتُ فِيهِ نُقْصَانًا فَأَخْبَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «هَذَا الشَّيْطَانُ يَأْخُذُهُ» قَالَ فَدَخَلْتُ الْغُرْفَةَ فَأَغْلَقْتُ الْبَابَ عَلَيَّ فَجَاءَتْ ظُلْمَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ فَغَشِيتُ الْبَابَ ثُمَّ تَصَوَّرَ فِي صُورَةِ فِيلٍ ثُمَّ تَصَوَّرَ فِي صُورَةٍ أُخْرَى فَدَخَلَ مِنْ شَقِّ الْبَابِ فَشَدَدْتُ إِزَارِي عَلَيَّ فَجَعَلَ يَأْكُلُ مِنَ التَّمْرِ قَالَ فَوَثَبْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَضَبَطْتُهُ فَالْتَقَتْ يَدَايَ عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا عَدُوَّ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ خَلِّ عَنِّي فَإِنِّي كَبِيرٌ ذُو عِيَالٍ كَثِيرٍ وَأَنَا فَقِيرٌ وَأَنَا مِنْ جِنِّ نَصِيبِينَ وَكَانَتْ لَنَا هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُبْعَثَ صَاحِبُكُمْ فَلَمَّا بُعِثَ أُخْرِجْنَا عَنْهَا فَخَلِّ عَنِّي فَلَنْ أَعُودَ إِلَيْكَ فَخَلَّيْتُ عَنْهُ وَجَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَأَخْبَرَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِمَا كَانَ فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الصُّبْحَ فَنَادَى مُنَادِيهِ أَيْنَ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ فَقُمْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَا فَعَلَ أَسِيرُكَ يَا مُعَاذُ؟» فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ «أَمَا إِنَّهُ سَيَعُودُ» فَعَادَ قَالَ فَدَخَلْتُ الْغُرْفَةَ وَأَغْلَقْتُ عَلَيَّ الْبَابَ فَدَخَلَ مِنْ شَقِّ الْبَابِ فَجَعَلَ يَأْكُلُ مِنَ التَّمْرِ فَصَنَعْتُ بِهِ كَمَا صَنَعْتُ فِي الْمَرَّةِ الْأُولَى فَقَالَ خَلِّ عَنِّي فَإِنِّي لَنْ أَعُودَ إِلَيْكَ فَقُلْتُ يَا عَدُوَّ اللَّهِ أَلَمْ تَقُلْ لَا أَعُودُ؟ قَالَ فَإِنِّي لَنْ أَعُودَ وَآيَةُ ذَلِكَ عَلَيَّ أَنْ لَا يَقْرَأَ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ خَاتِمَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ فَيَدْخُلَ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا فِي بَيْتِهِ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةِ
