[Machine] He said, "O Messenger of Allah, tell us about the night of Qadr." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is in the month of Ramadan, seek it in the last ten nights. For it is odd, either on the twenty-first, twenty-third, twenty-fifth, twenty-seventh, or twenty-ninth night. Or it may be on the last night. Whoever stands in prayer on this night with faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven."

[Machine] "So I approached her and she was praying the Duha prayer, so I said, 'I will sit until she finishes.' They said, 'No, it's okay,' but I asked her how I should seek permission from her. She said, 'Say, "Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. Peace be upon the mothers of the believers or the wives of the Prophet ﷺ. Peace be upon you all." He said, 'So I entered upon her and asked her. She said, 'It is the home of a bachelor, indeed. The people of the household are indeed good people.' I asked her about al-Wisal (remaining in the mosque from Fajr prayer until Ishraq prayer). She said, 'When the Battle of Uhud happened, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his Companions performed prayers separately. When they saw the crescent moon, they informed the Prophet ﷺ. He said, 'If it had increased, I would have indeed increased. He was asked, 'Do you do that or something similar?' He said, 'I am not like you. I spend the night in a state that my Lord feeds me and gives me drink.' I asked her about the two Rak'ahs after 'Asr prayer. She said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a man to collect Sadaqah. He came to him at midday. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered the Dhuhr prayer and prayed those two Rak'ahs. Then he offered the 'Asr prayer and prayed those two Rak'ahs. She said, 'Upon you is to pray the night prayer, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ never neglected it. Even if he was sick, he would recite while sitting.' And I knew that some of you say, 'It is enough for me to establish what has been written for me, how can I have that and then ask her about the day in which there is difference regarding Ramadan?' She said, 'Because fasting a day in Sha'ban is more beloved to me than fasting a day in Ramadan.' He said, 'So I went out and asked Ibn 'Umar and Abu Hurairah, and each of them said, 'The wives of the Prophet ﷺ know more about that than us.'

[Machine] I asked Aisha, the mother of the Believers, "Tell me about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." She said, "His prayer during Ramadan and other times was thirteen units of prayer. This included the two units of the dawn prayer (Fajr)."

I said, "Tell me about his fasting." She said, "He used to fast until we would say, 'He is fasting.' And he would break his fast until we would say, 'He has broken his fast.' I never saw him fasting a whole month more than he did in Sha'ban. He used to fast all of it except for a little."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast on certain days until it was said that he never breaks his fast, and he would break his fast on certain days until it was said that he hardly ever fasts, except for two days of the week, unless there was a fasting in the month, then he would fast those two days as well. He did not fast any month as much as he fasted in Sha'ban. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, you fast so much that it seems like you never break your fast, and you break your fast so much that it seems like you hardly ever fast. He said, "Which two days?" I said, "Monday and Thursday." He said, "Those are two days when deeds are shown (to Allah) and I love that my deeds should be shown (to Allah) when I am fasting." I said, "And I have never seen you fasting in any month as you fast in Sha'ban." He said, "That is a month between Rajab and Ramadan that people neglect, but it is a month in which deeds are raised up to the Lord of the worlds, and I love that my deeds should be raised up when I am fasting."

[Machine] As for the conditions of fasting, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Madinah and started fasting three days in every month, as well as observing the fast on the day of Ashura. Later, Allah made fasting obligatory and revealed the verse: "O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you" [Qur'an 2:183] until the verse "And upon those who are able [to fast], a ransom [as substitute] of feeding a poor person [each day]" [Qur'an 2:184]. Thus, whoever wished, fasted, and whoever wished, fed a poor person, and this was permissible. Then, Allah revealed another verse: "The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an" [Qur'an 2:185] until the verse "So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it" [Qur'an 2:185]. Allah made fasting obligatory for the resident who is capable and eased it for the sick and the traveler. He also made feeding required for the elderly who are unable to fast. These were the two options available, and they used to eat and drink during the night and have sexual relations until they slept. However, if they slept, they abstained from all that until dawn. Then, there was a man from the Ansar known as Sirmah who used to work while fasting until the evening, then he went to his family, performed the Isha prayer, and slept without eating or drinking until morning, thus remaining in the state of fasting. I (the narrator) also joined him once, so we slept and woke up while fasting. As for Umar, he had a sexual relationship with a slave girl or a free woman after sleeping, and he mentioned it to the Prophet ﷺ . Allah then revealed the verse: "It has been made lawful for you to approach your wives during the nights of the fast. They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them" [Qur'an 2:187] until the verse "Then complete the fast until the night" [Qur'an 2:187].

They also abstain from major sins that Allah has forbidden." Then a man asked him, "O Messenger of Allah, what are the major sins?" He replied, "They are nine: associating partners with Allah, killing a believer without just cause, fleeing from the battlefield, usurping the property of orphans, consuming interest, falsely accusing chaste women, disobeying to the parents (especially when they are Muslims), and seeking permission to enter and reside in the Haram (the sacred sanctuary) before your permission." Then he said, "A man will not die until he performs these major sins and establishes prayer and pays the mandatory charity. In this case, he shall be among the Prophet ﷺ in a house whose gates are made of gold."

Then he said, "A man does not die until he commits these major sins, establishes prayer, and gives Zakat, except that he will be with the Prophet ﷺ in a dwelling whose doors are made of gold." "This hadith has been cited through narrators other than Abd al-Hameed ibn Sinan. As for Umayr ibn Qatadah, he is a companion of the Prophet ﷺ and his son Ubaid agreed on its authenticity and its use as evidence." Umayr ibn Qatadah was a companion of the Prophet, and there was no need for Abd al-Hameed ibn Sinan to state that. I said this to clarify his ignorance and confirm his reliability according to Ibn Hibban.

They avoid major sins that Allah has forbidden. Then, a man asked him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: They are nine: Associating partners with Allah, killing a believer unlawfully, fleeing from the battlefield, usurping the property of orphans, consuming interest (usury), accusing chaste women of adultery, being disobedient to parents who are Muslim, and entering the sacred house of Allah (Kaaba) before it is lawful for you. [Machine] I was with the Prophet ﷺ in the Farewell Pilgrimage, and I heard him say, "Verily, the allies of Allah are those who pray, and whoever completes the obligatory prayers sincerely for Allah, pays the obligatory Zakat, fasts in Ramadan, and avoids major sins." A man then asked him, "O Messenger of Allah, what are the major sins?" He replied, "The major sins are nine, the greatest of which are associating partners with Allah, killing a believer, consuming usury, consuming the property of orphans, slandering chaste women, fleeing from the battlefield, disobeying parents, practicing sorcery, and making permissible what Allah has forbidden, such as entering the Sacred House while in a state of major impurity. Whoever meets Allah without having committed any of these sins with him, he will enter Paradise, the gates of which are made of gold."

The Prophet ﷺ said Āmīn three times to the misfortune of three types of people who lose opportunities to earn rewards

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Come toward the pulpit," and we all came. When he climbed a step, he said, "Āmīn", and when he climbed the second step he said, "Āmīn", and when he climbed the third step he said, "Āmīn. When he came down ˹after the sermon˺ we asked, "O Messenger of Allah, we heard something from you that we had not heard before."

He said, "Jibrīl, peace be upon him, ˹came˺ to me and said, (1) 'Away with the one who found Ramaḍān and he was not forgiven.'", and I said, 'Āmīn.'"

"When I climbed the second ˹step˺ he said, (2) 'Away with the one to him when I (Allah) am mentioned and he does not send ṣalāh upon you.'"

"When I climbed the third ˹step˺ he said, (3) 'Away with the one who finds his parents in old age or ˹at least˺ one of them and they do not become ˹a means˺ for him to enter Jannah.' And I said, 'Āmīn.'"

This ḥadīth has an authentic chain but they (Bukhārī and Muslim) did not collect it.
