[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever meets Allah without associating anything with Him and performs the five daily prayers and fasts during Ramadan, it will be written for him to be forgiven." I said, "Shouldn't I give them the good news, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "Let them continue to do their deeds."

[Machine] I went out of necessity and found myself with a group in the marketplace. I joined them and there was a man talking to them, describing the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and describing his physical characteristics. I presented myself to him on the road between Arafat and Mina, and he lifted me onto his ride, and I recognized him by his description. Then a man called out to me, "O rider, move away from the faces of the travelers!" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Leave the rider alone, for he has done nothing wrong." So I came closer until I took hold of the reins or bridle of the she-camel and said, "O Messenger of Allah, tell me or instruct me to do an action that will bring me close to Jannah and take me far from the Hellfire." He said, "Is that what you want from me, or are you asking me sincerely?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Then be mindful or understand that worshiping Allah without associating anything with Him, establishing prayer, paying Zakat, fasting in Ramadan, performing Hajj, and treating people the way you want to be treated and avoiding what you dislike. Let go of the reins or bridle of the she-camel." Abu Qatadah said, "So I said to him, "Did you hear this directly from him or did you hear it from Al-Mughirah?" He said, "Yes."

[Machine] We fasted with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during Ramadan and he did not perform night prayers with us until it was the night of the twenty-fourth. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer until almost one-third of the night had passed. Then, on the following night, he did not perform night prayers with us. But on the night of the twenty-sixth, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer until almost half of the night had passed. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, if you could only voluntarily pray with us for the rest of this night." He said, "No, for if a man prays with the imam until he finishes, it is counted as the whole night for him." Then, on the following night, he did not perform night prayers with us. But when it was the night of the twenty-eight, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gathered his family and the people gathered for him, and he led us in prayer until we almost missed the pre-dawn meal. I asked, "What is the pre-dawn meal?" He said, "Suhoor (the meal before dawn prayer)." Then, after that night, he did not perform night prayers with us, O son of my brother, for the remainder of the month.

[Machine] We fasted with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during Ramadan, and he did not offer night prayers with us at all until the twenty-third night. He then offered night prayers with us until a third of the night had passed. After that, he did not offer night prayers with us on the fourth night, but offered them with us on the fifth night until half of the night had passed. We said, "O Messenger of Allah, if only you would prolong our night prayers." He said, "When a person prays with the imam until he finishes, it will be written for him as if he spent the whole night in prayer." He did not offer night prayers with us on the sixth night, but offered them on the seventh night. He then sent for his family and the people gathered until we feared that we would miss the pre-dawn meal (sahur). I asked, "What is the pre-dawn meal?" He replied, "It is the meal consumed before dawn." According to Wahib, Dawud reported that the twenty-fourth night is among the remaining nights, the twenty-sixth night is the fifth among the remaining nights, and the twenty-eighth night is the third among the remaining nights, and it has the same meaning.

[Machine] The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were discussing the Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr). Ubayy said, "By the One whom there is no god but Him, I know which night it is. It is the night that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed us about, the night that falls on the twenty-seventh of Ramadan. The sign of that night is that the sun rises the following morning without any rays." Salamah bin Kuheil claimed that a visitor had informed him that he had observed this phenomenon for three years straight, from the first day of Ramadan to its last, and that he saw the dawn of the twenty-seventh morning without any rays.

[Machine] He said regarding the night of Al-Qadr (the Night of Decree), "Whoever stands for it, casting off sleep, will be rewarded." So I set out until I arrived at Uthman ibn Affan and I wanted to meet the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the Emigrants and the Helpers. Asim narrated to me that Uqbah ibn Ka'b and Abdur-Rahman ibn Awf used to stand for prayer when the sun set and perform two units of prayer before Maghrib. So I said to Ubay, who had a harsh demeanor, "Lower your wing over us, may Allah have mercy on you, because I am only enjoying myself with you. "He said, "Do you want to leave out any verse from the Qur'an without asking me about it?" He said, "And I had a companion who spoke the truth, so I said, 'O Abu Mundhir, tell me about the Night of Decree.' For Ibn Mas'ud says, 'Whoever stands for it, casting off sleep, will be rewarded.' " He said, "By Allah, Abdullah knew that it is in Ramadan, but he concealed it from the people so that they would not rely on it. By Allah, who sent down the Book upon Muhammad ﷺ, it is indeed in Ramadan, and it is the night of the twenty-seventh." So I said, "O Abu Mundhir, how do you know that?" He said, "Through the verse that Muhammad ﷺ informed us of." So we counted and memorized it, and by Allah, it is a sign that is not excepted." He said, "So I said, 'And what is the verse?' One of them said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wake up in a state of janabah, then he would take a bath and observe his fasting for the day." The other one said, "He used to wake up in a state of janabah without having a wet dream, then he would complete his fasting." They both returned and informed Marwan about it. He said to Abdur-Rahman, "Inform Abu Huraira about what they said." Abu Huraira said, "That is what I used to think and believe." Marwan said, "You give fatwa (religious rulings) based on your thinking and beliefs."

Fasting six days in Shawwal after Ramadan is like the reward of fasting for a whole year

ahmad:22412al-Ḥakam b. Nāfiʿ > Ibn ʿAyyāsh > Yaḥyá b. al-Ḥārith al-Dhimārī > Abū Asmāʾ al-Raḥabī > Thawbān

From the Prophet ﷺ who said: "Whoever fasts Ramadan, then one month ˹is equivalent˺ to ten. And fasting and fasting for six days after the Fitr (end of Ramadan), that is ˹like˺ fasting for a year."

[Machine] When Abdullah wanted to come to the city, he gathered his companions and said, "By Allah, I hope that today I am among you with the best of what the Muslim armies have in terms of religion, understanding, and knowledge of the Quran. Indeed, this Quran was revealed with its fine details. By Allah, if two men were to dispute, it would be over nothing as severe as when a reciter says, 'This is how I recite it,' and the other says, 'No, both of you recite well.' Verily, truth guides to righteousness, and righteousness guides to paradise, while lying guides to disobedience, and disobedience guides to the Hellfire. Consider this by the words of one of you to his companion, 'You lied and sinned,' and by his saying, 'If you tell the truth, I believe you and exonerate you.' Indeed, this Quran does not differ or contradict, nor does it become insignificant due to the multitude of responses. So whoever recites it with precision, let him not abandon it out of desire. And whoever recites it with any of the letters that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught, let him not abandon it out of desire. For surely, whoever denies one of its ayahs, he denies all that it contains. It is like the saying of one of you to his companion, 'Hurry up and guide me.' By Allah, if I knew a man who had knowledge of what Allah revealed to Muhammad ﷺ more than me, I would seek his company until his knowledge increased to the level of my own. Indeed, there will be people who neglect prayers, so perform your prayers at their specified times and make your voluntary prayers along with them. And verily, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite the Quran in every Ramadan. And I presented the matter twice in the year he passed away, and he informed me that I was reciting it well. I have recited seventy chapters from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."

It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, is it Laylat al-Qadr?” He said: “No; rather, the worker is only paid his wages when he has finished his work.”

[Machine] I asked Aisha, the mother of the Believers, "Tell me about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." She said, "His prayer during Ramadan and other times was thirteen units of prayer. This included the two units of the dawn prayer (Fajr)."

I said, "Tell me about his fasting." She said, "He used to fast until we would say, 'He is fasting.' And he would break his fast until we would say, 'He has broken his fast.' I never saw him fasting a whole month more than he did in Sha'ban. He used to fast all of it except for a little."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , informed us about the Night of Qadr (Decree), saying: "It is in the month of Ramadan, so seek it in the last ten nights, for it is an odd night, either the night of the twenty-first, twenty-third, twenty-fifth, twenty-seventh, or twenty-ninth, or the last night of Ramadan. Whoever performs night prayers on this night with faith and hoping for its reward, will have his previous sins forgiven."
