Zaid. you have been able to acquire a great virtue that you saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ listened to his talk, fought by his side in (different) battles, offered prayer behind me. Zaid, you have in fact earned a great virtue. Zaid, narrate to us what you heard from Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: I have grown old and have almost spent my age and I have forgotten some of the things which I remembered in connection with Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so accept whatever I narrate to you, and which I do not narrate do not compel me to do that.
He then said: One day Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to deliver sermon at a watering place known as Khumm situated between Mecca and Medina. He praised Allah, extolled Him and delivered the sermon and. exhorted (us) and said: Now to our purpose. O people, I am a human being. I am about to receive a messenger (the angel of death) from my Lord and I, in response to Allah's call, (would bid good-bye to you), but I am leaving among you two weighty things: the one being the Book of Allah in which there is right guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it. He exhorted (us) (to hold fast) to the Book of Allah and then said: The second are the members of my household I remind you (of your duties) to the members of my family.
He (Husain) said to Zaid: Who are the members of his household? Aren't his wives the members of his family? Thereupon he said: His wives are the members of his family (but here) the members of his family are those for whom acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. And he said: Who are they? Thereupon he said: 'Ali and the offspring of 'Ali, 'Aqil and the offspring of 'Aqil and the offspring of Ja'far and the offspring of 'Abbas. Husain said: These are those for whom the acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. Zaid said: Yes.

انْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَحُصَيْنُ بْنُ سَبْرَةَ وَعُمَرُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ إِلَى زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ فَلَمَّا جَلَسْنَا إِلَيْهِ قَالَ لَهُ حُصَيْنٌ لَقَدْ لَقِيتَ يَا زَيْدُ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا رَأَيْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَسَمِعْتَ حَدِيثَهُ وَغَزَوْتَ مَعَهُ وَصَلَّيْتَ خَلْفَهُ لَقَدْ لَقِيتَ يَا زَيْدُ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا حَدِّثْنَا يَا زَيْدُ مَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ كَبِرَتْ سِنِّي وَقَدُمَ عَهْدِي وَنَسِيتُ بَعْضَ الَّذِي كُنْتُ أَعِي مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَمَا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ فَاقْبَلُوا وَمَا لاَ فَلاَ تُكَلِّفُونِيهِ

ثُمَّ قَالَ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا فِينَا خَطِيبًا بِمَاءٍ يُدْعَى خُمًّا بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَوَعَظَ وَذَكَّرَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ أَلاَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ فَإِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ رَسُولُ رَبِّي فَأُجِيبَ وَأَنَا تَارِكٌ فِيكُمْ ثَقَلَيْنِ أَوَّلُهُمَا كِتَابُ اللَّهِ فِيهِ الْهُدَى وَالنُّورُ فَخُذُوا بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَاسْتَمْسِكُوا بِهِ فَحَثَّ عَلَى كِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَرَغَّبَ فِيهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِي أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللَّهَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللَّهَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللَّهَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي
فَقَالَ لَهُ حُصَيْنٌ وَمَنْ أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ يَا زَيْدُ أَلَيْسَ نِسَاؤُهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ قَالَ نِسَاؤُهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَلَكِنْ أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ مَنْ حُرِمَ الصَّدَقَةَ بَعْدَهُ قَالَ وَمَنْ هُمْ قَالَ هُمْ آلُ عَلِيٍّ وَآلُ عَقِيلٍ وَآلُ جَعْفَرٍ وَآلُ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كُلُّ هَؤُلاَءِ حُرِمَ الصَّدَقَةَ قَالَ نَعَمْ

We went to him (Zaid b. Arqam) and said to him. You have found goodness (for you had the honour) to live in the company of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and offered prayer behind him, and the rest of the hadith is the same but with this variation of wording that lie said: Behold, for I am leaving amongst you two weighty things, one of which is the Book of Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, and that is the rope of Allah. He who holds it fast would be on right guidance and he who abandons it would be in error, and in this (hadith) these words are also found: We said: Who are amongst the members of the household? Aren't the wives (of the Holy Prophet) included amongst the members of his house hold? Thereupon he said: No, by Allah, a woman lives with a man (as his wife) for a certain period; he then divorces her and she goes back to her parents and to her people; the members of his household include his ownself and his kith and kin (who are related to him by blood) and for him the acceptance of Zakat is prohibited.

دَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتَ خَيْرًا لَقَدْ صَاحَبْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَصَلَّيْتَ خَلْفَهُ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ بِنَحْوِ حَدِيثِ أَبِي حَيَّانَ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَلاَ وَإِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمْ ثَقَلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا كِتَابُ اللَّهِ ﷻ هُوَ حَبْلُ اللَّهِ مَنِ اتَّبَعَهُ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَى وَمَنْ تَرَكَهُ كَانَ عَلَى ضَلاَلَةٍ وَفِيهِ فَقُلْنَا مَنْ أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ نِسَاؤُهُ قَالَ لاَ وَايْمُ اللَّهِ إِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ تَكُونُ مَعَ الرَّجُلِ الْعَصْرَ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ ثُمَّ يُطَلِّقُهَا فَتَرْجِعُ إِلَى أَبِيهَا وَقَوْمِهَا أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ أَصْلُهُ وَعَصَبَتُهُ الَّذِينَ حُرِمُوا الصَّدَقَةَ بَعْدَهُ

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:"Indeed, I am leaving among you, that which if you hold fast to them, you shall not be misguided after me. One of them is greater than the other: The Book of Allah is a rope extended from the sky to the earth, and my family - the people of my house - and they shall not split until they meet at the Hawd, so look at how you deal with them after me."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمْ مَا إِنْ تَمَسَّكْتُمْ بِهِ لَنْ تَضِلُّوا بَعْدِي أَحَدُهُمَا أَعْظَمُ مِنَ الآخَرِ كِتَابُ اللَّهِ حَبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الأَرْضِ وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَلَنْ يَتَفَرَّقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَىَّ الْحَوْضَ فَانْظُرُوا كَيْفَ تَخْلُفُونِي فِيهِمَا

[Machine] Did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, I am leaving among you the two weighty things?" He said, "Yes."

أَسَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, I have left among you two weighty things: one of them is greater than the other, the Book of Allah, a stretched rope from the sky to the earth, and my family, the people of my household. Verily, they will not separate from each other until they come to me at the Pond."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي قَدْ تَرَكْتُ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الْآخَرِ كِتَابُ اللهِ ﷻ حَبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلُ بَيْتِي أَلَا إِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am leaving among you something which, if you adhere to it, you will never go astray after me—two things, one of which is greater than the other: the Book of Allah, a rope stretched from the heavens to the earth, and my progeny, my Ahlul Bayt. They will not separate until they come to me at the pond (of Kawthar)."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي قَدْ تَرَكْتُ فِيكُمْ مَا إِنْ أَخَذْتُمْ بِهِ لَنْ تَضِلُّوا بَعْدِي الثَّقَلَيْنِ وَأَحَدُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الْآخَرِ كِتَابُ اللهِ حَبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلُ بَيْتِي أَلَا وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, I am leaving among you two weighty things, one of which is greater than the other: the Book of Allah, a rope extended from the heavens to the earth, and my family, my household. Verily, these two will not separate until they meet me at the Pond."

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "I am soon to be called and I will respond. I am leaving among you two weighty things, the Book of Allah ﷻ and my family, my household. The Book of Allah is a stretched out rope from the sky to the earth, and my family is my household. And indeed, the All-Loving, the All-Knowing has informed me that they will never separate until they meet me at the pond. So, look at how you will treat them after me."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنِّي أُوشِكُ أَنْ أُدْعَى فَأُجِيبَ وَإِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ كِتَابَ اللهِ ﷻ وَعِتْرَتِي كِتَابُ اللهِ حَبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَإِنَّ اللَّطِيفَ الْخَبِيرَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَاعَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ فَانْظُرُوا بِمَ تَخْلُفُونِي فِيهِمَا

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "I am leaving among you two weighty things (or precious things): the Book of Allah and my family (or the People of my House). Verily, they will not separate until they come to me at the Pond (in Paradise)."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمْ خَلِيفَتَيْنِ كِتَابُ اللهِ وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَتَفَرَّقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ جَمِيعًا

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up one day to deliver a sermon. He praised Allah and glorified Him, then he said, "Oh people, indeed I am a human and soon the messenger of my Lord will come to me and I will respond to him. I am leaving behind among you two weighty things, the first of which is the Book of Allah. It contains guidance and light, so hold firmly to the Book of Allah and adhere to it." He emphasized and encouraged the people in this regard. Then he said, "And the people of my household, I remind you of Allah regarding the people of my household three times."

قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا خَطِيبًا فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَنِي رَسُولُ رَبِّي فَأُجِيبَهُ وَإِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ أَوَّلُهُمَا كِتَابُ اللَّهِ فِيهِ الْهُدَى وَالنُّورُ فَتَمَسَّكُوا بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَخُذُوا بِهِ فَحَثَّ عَلَيْهِ وَرَغَّبَ فِيهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «وَأَهْلَ بَيْتِي أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللَّهَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ»

[Machine] Narrated by him, he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I am leaving behind among you two weighty things, the Book of Allah and my family, and these two will never be separated until they meet me at the Pond (of Kawthar)."

عَنْه قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ كِتَابَ اللهِ وَأَهْلَ بَيْتِي وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَتَفَرَّقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, I have left among you two things that you will never go astray as long as you hold fast to them: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah. And they will never separate from each other until they meet me at the Pond."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنِّي قَدْ تَرَكْتُ فِيكُمْ شَيْئَيْنِ لَنْ تَضِلُّوا بَعْدَهُمَا كِتَابَ اللَّهِ وَسُنَّتِي وَلَنْ يَتَفَرَّقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ

[Machine] About the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , he said: "Verily, I have left among you two caliphs, the Book of Allah and my family. They will not separate until they meet me at the Pond [of Al-Kawthar]."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنِّي قَدْ تَرَكْتُ فِيكُمْ خَلِيفَتَيْنِ كِتَابَ اللهِ وَأَهْلَ بَيْتِي وَإِنَّهُمَا لَمْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ»

[Machine] "I have left among you two weighty things: the Book of Allah and my Progeny. Verily, they will not separate until they return to me at the Pool (of Kawthar)."

«إِنِّي قَدْ تَرَكْتُ فِيكُمُ الْخَلِيفَتَيْنِ كِتَابَ اللهِ وَعِتْرَتِي وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَتَفَرَّقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ»

[Machine] The messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, I am leaving two weighty things among you after me, the Book of Allah ﷻ and my family, the people of my household. Verily, they will never separate until they meet me at the pond."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ مِنْ بَعْدِي كِتَابَ اللهِ ﷻ وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلَ بَيْتِي وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَتَفَرَّقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I am leaving behind among you two weighty things: the Book of Allah and my family, the people of my household. Verily, they will never separate until they come to me at the Pond (of Kauthar)."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ كِتَابَ اللهِ وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلَ بَيْتِي وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَتَفَرَّقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I am leaving behind among you two weighty things: the Book of Allah and my family, my household. They will never separate until they meet me at the Pond."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ كِتَابَ اللهِ وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلَ بَيْتِي وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَتَفَرَّقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I am leaving behind among you two weighty things: the Book of Allah and my family. Look how you will treat them after me." We asked, "Who are the people of his household?" He said, "The family of Ali, the family of Ja'far, the family of Aqil, and the family of Abbas."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ كِتَابَ اللهِ وَعِتْرَتِي فَانْظُرُوا كَيْفَ تَخْلُفُونِي فِيهِمَا» قُلْنَا وَمَنْ أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ؟ قَالَ «آلُ عَلِيٍّ وَآلُ جَعْفَرٍ وَآلُ عَقِيلٍ وَآلُ الْعَبَّاسٍ»

[Machine] We entered upon him and said, "Indeed, we have seen good in you. You accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and you prayed behind him." He said, "Indeed, I have seen good and I feared that I would be delayed for some evil that has happened to you. So accept [this explanation from] me. And whatever I have kept silent about, then leave it." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood in a valley between Mecca and Medina and delivered a sermon to us. He said, "I am a human being soon to be called [by Allah]; I will respond. I am leaving among you two weighty things, one of which is the Book of Allah. It contains the Rope of Allah, whoever holds firmly to it will be guided, and whoever leaves it will be misguided. And [the other weighty thing is] my household. I remind you of Allah concerning my household; I remind you of Allah concerning my household." We said, "Who are the members of your household, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "The women of the household are not included. Rather, the relatives of a man by marriage from the people of all times who then divorces them and they return to their own fathers and mothers, they are the people of my household. And the offsprings of those who were forbidden from receiving charity after me are the family of Ali, Abbas, Jafar, and Aqeel."

دَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْنَا لَقَدْ رَأَيْتَ خَيْرًا أَصَحِبْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَصَلَّيْتَ خَلْفَهُ قَالَ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ خَيْرًا وَخَشِيتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ إِنَّمَا أُخِّرْتُ لِشِرٍّ مَا حَدَّثَكُمْ فَاقْبَلُوا وَمَا سَكَتَ عَنْهُ فَدَعُوهُ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِوَادٍ بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ فَخَطَبَنَا ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَنَا بِشْرٌ يُوشِكُ أَنْ أُدْعَى فَأُجِيبَ وَإِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ اثْنَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا كِتَابُ اللهِ فِيهِ حَبَلُ اللهِ مَنِ اتَّبَعَهُ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَى وَمَنْ تَرَكَهُ كَانَ عَلَى ضَلَالَةٍ وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِي؟ أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللهَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي» ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَقُلْنَا مَنْ أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ نِسَاؤُهُ؟ قَالَ «لَا إِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ قَدْ يَكُونُ يَتَزَوَّجُ بِهَا الرَّجُلُ الْعَصْرَ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ ثُمَّ يُطَلِّقُهَا فَتَرْجِعُ إِلَى أَبِيهَا وَأُمِّهَا أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ أَهْلُهُ وَعَصَبَتُهُ الَّذِينَ حُرِمُوا الصَّدَقَةَ بَعْدَهُ آلُ عَلِيٍّ وَآلُ الْعَبَّاسِ وَآلُ جَعْفَرٍ وَآلُ عَقِيلٍ»

Zaid. you have been able to acquire a great virtue that you saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ listened to his talk, fought by his side in (different) battles, offered prayer behind me. Zaid, you have in fact earned a great virtue. Zaid, narrate to us what you heard from Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: I have grown old and have almost spent my age and I have forgotten some of the things which I remembered in connection with Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so accept whatever I narrate to you, and which I do not narrate do not compel me to do that. He then said: One day Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to deliver sermon at a watering place known as Khumm situated between Mecca and Medina. He praised Allah, extolled Him and delivered the sermon and. exhorted (us) and said: Now to our purpose. O people, I am a human being. I am about to receive a messenger (the angel of death) from my Lord and I, in response to Allah's call, (would bid good-bye to you), but I am leaving among you two weighty things: the one being the Book of Allah in which there is right guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it. He exhorted (us) (to hold fast) to the Book of Allah and then said: The second are the members of my household I remind you (of your duties) to the members of my family. He (Husain) said to Zaid: Who are the members of his household? Aren't his wives the members of his family? Thereupon he said: His wives are the members of his family (but here) the members of his family are those for whom acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. And he said: Who are they? Thereupon he said: 'Ali and the offspring of 'Ali, 'Aqil and the offspring of 'Aqil and the offspring of Ja'far and the offspring of 'Abbas. Husain said: These are those for whom the acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. Zaid said: Yes. (Using translation from Muslim 2408a)

لَهُ حُصَيْنُ بْنُ سَبْرَةَ يَا زَيْدُ رَأَيْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَسَمِعْتَ حَدِيثَهُ وَغَزَوْتَ مَعَهُ لَقَدْ أَصَبْتَ يَا زَيْدُ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا حَدِّثْنَا يَا زَيْدُ مَا شَهِدْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَا سَمِعْتَ قَالَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي وَاللهِ لَقَدْ كَبِرَتْ سِنِّي وَقَدِمَ عَهْدِي وَنَسِيتُ بَعْضَ الَّذِي كُنْتُ أَعِي مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَمَا أُحَدِّثُكُمْ فَاقْبَلُوهُ وَمَا لَمْ أُحَدِّثْكُمُوهُ فَلَا تُكَلِّفُونِيهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا فِينَا خَطِيبًا بِمَاءٍ يُدْعَى خُمٌّ بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ ﷻ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَوَعَظَ وَذَكَرَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَمَّا بَعْدُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بِشْرٌ يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَأْتِنِي رَسُولُ رَبِّي فَأُجِيبَهُ وَإِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا كِتَابُ اللهِ فِيهِ الْهُدَى وَالنُّورُ فَخُذُوا بِكِتَابِ اللهِ وَاسْتَمْسِكُوا بِهِ» فَحَثَّ عَلَى كِتَابِ اللهِ وَرَغَّبَ فِيهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَهْلُ بَيْتِي أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللهَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي» قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا قَالَ لَهُ حُصَيْنٌ مَنْ أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ يَا زَيْدُ أَلَيْسَ نِسَاؤُهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ؟ قَالَ «إِنَّ نِسَاءَهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَلَكِنَّ أَهْلَ بَيْتِهِ مَنْ حُرِمَ الصَّدَقَةَ بَعْدَهُ» قَالَ وَمَنْ هُمْ؟ قَالَ «هُمْ آلُ عَلِيٍّ وَآلُ جَعْفَرٍ وَآلُ الْعَبَّاسِ وَآلُ عَقِيلٍ» قِيلَ كُلُّ هَؤُلَاءِ حَرَّمَ الصَّدَقَةَ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, I am leaving behind among you two weighty things: the Book of Allah and my family." He said, "Yes."

سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ كِتَابَ اللهِ وَعِتْرَتِي؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ

[Machine] "Narrated by Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri, the Prophet ﷺ said, 'O people, I am leaving behind among you two things, if you hold onto them, you will never go astray after me: the Book of Allah, which is a stretched rope between the heaven and the earth, and my family, the people of my household. Indeed, they will not part ways until they meet me at the Pond of Kawthar.'"

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ؓ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمْ مَا إِنْ أَخَذْتُمْ بِهِ لَنْ تَضِلُّوا بَعْدِي أَمْرَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الْآخَرِ كِتَابَ اللهِ حَبَلٌ مَمْدُودٌ مَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلَ بَيْتِي وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ

[Machine] As if I have been invited and I have answered. Indeed, I am leaving behind among you two weighty things: the Book of Allah and my family, the people of my household. They will not separate until they come to me at the pond, so look how you deal with them after me.

كَأَنِّي قَدْ دُعِيتُ فَأَجَبْتُ فَإِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّ‍قَلَيْنِ كِتَابَ اللهِ حَبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلَ بَيْتِي وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ فَانْظُرُوا كَيْفَ تَخْلُفُونِي فِيهِمَا

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, I am leaving a legacy for you, and you will come to me at the Pond (of Kawthar). Its width is like the distance between Sana'a and Busra, and it contains the number of stars in the heavens made from a cup of gold and silver. So, see how you will succeed me in the two weighty matters?" A man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, what are the two weighty matters?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The greater one is the Book of Allah, it is a rope that extends between the hand of Allah and your hands, so hold onto it and you will never go astray. And the lesser one is my family, the people of my household, and they will not separate until they meet me at the Pond." I asked for them (the two weighty matters), so do not precede them, lest you be destroyed, and do not teach them, for verily, they are more knowledgeable than you."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنِّي لَكُمْ فَرَطٌ وَإِنَّكُمْ وَارِدُونَ عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ عَرْضُهُ مَا بَيْنَ صَنْعَاءَ إِلَى بُصْرَى فِيهِ عَدَدُ الْكَوَاكِبِ مِنْ قِدْحَانِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ فَانْظُرُوا كَيْفَ تَخْلُفُونِي فِي الثَّقَلَيْنِ؟» فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَمَا الثَّقَلَانِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْأَكْبَرُ كِتَابُ اللهِ سَبَبٌ طَرَفُهُ بِيَدِ اللهِ وَطَرَفُهُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ فَتَمَسَّكُوا بِهِ لَنْ تَزَالُوا وَلَنْ تَضِلُّوا وَالْأَصْغَرُ عِتْرَتِي وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ وَسَأَلْتُ لَهُمَا ذَاكَ رَبِّي فَلَا تَقْدُمُوهُمَا فَتَهْلِكُوا وَلَا تُعَلِّمُوهُمَا؛ فَإِنَّهُمَا أَعْلَمُ مِنْكُمْ»

[Machine] Have you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and did you witness with him when he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up with a water called Khumm, praised Allah and praised Him, and gave a sermon and mentioned. Then he said, 'O people, I am a human being and soon the Messenger of my Lord will come to me and I will respond to him. And I am leaving among you the two weighty things, the first of which is the Book of Allah, in it is guidance and light, and whoever holds fast to it and takes it, will be guided. And whoever deviates from it and abandons it will be misguided. And the people of my household, I remind you of Allah regarding the people of my household three times.' He said, 'Who are they?' He said, 'O Zaid, are not his wives from the people of his household?' He said, 'Yes, his wives are from the people of his household, but the people of his household are forbidden from receiving charity.' He said, 'Who are they?' He said, 'The family of Ali, the family of Uqail, the family of Jafar, and the family of Abbas.'"

سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَا شَهِدْتَ مَعَهُ قَالَ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَاءٍ يُدْعَى خُمًّا فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَوَعَظَ وَذَكَرَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بِشْرٌ يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَنِي رَسُولُ رَبِّي فَأُجِيبَهُ وَإِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ أَوَّلُهُمَا كِتَابُ اللهِ فِيهِ الْهُدَى وَالنُّورُ وَمَنِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِهِ وَأَخَذَ بِهِ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَى وَمَنْ أَخْطَأَهُ وَتَرَكَهُ كَانَ عَلَى الضَّلَالَةِ وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِي أُذَكِرَكُمُ اللهَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ قَالَ حَصِينٌ فَمَنْ أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ يَا زَيْدُ؟ أَلَيْسَ نِسَاؤُهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ؟ قَالَ «بَلَى إِنَّ نِسَاءَهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَلَكِنَّ أَهْلَ بَيْتِهِ مِنْ حُرِمَ الصَّدَقَةَ» قَالَ مَنْ هُمْ؟ قَالَ «آلُ عَلِيٍّ وَآلُ عُقَيْلٍ وَآلُ جَعْفَرٍ وَآلُ الْعَبَّاسِ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , stopped with us at a place called Khumm between Makkah and Madinah. He praised and glorified Allah, admonished and reminded us. Then he said, "O people, indeed I am only a human being and soon the messenger of my Lord will come to me and I will respond. I am leaving behind among you two weighty things, the first of which is the Book of Allah, in it is guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it." Then he emphasized and encouraged it. Then he said, "And the people of my household, I remind you of Allah regarding the people of my household." Hudhayfah asked, "O Zaid, who are the people of his household? Are not his wives from the people of his household?" He said, "Yes, his wives are from the people of his household, but the people of his household are those who are forbidden from taking charity after him." Hudhayfah asked, "And who are they?" He said, "The family of Ali, the family of Aqeel, the family of Jafar, and the family of Abbas." Hudhayfah asked, "And are all of these forbidden from taking charity?" He said, "Yes."

قَامَ فِينَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَاءٍ يُدْعَى خُمًّا بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ حَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَوَعَظَ وَذَكَّرَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ أَلَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ فَإِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَنِي رَسُولُ رَبِّي فَأُجِيبَ وَإِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمْ ثَقَلَيْنِ أَوَّلُهُمَا كِتَابُ اللهِ فِيهِ الْهُدَى وَالنُّورُ فَتَمَسَّكُوا بِكِتَابِ اللهِ وَخُذُوا بِهِ فَحَثَّ عَلَيْهِ وَرَغَّبَ فِيهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِي أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللهَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي قَالَ حُصَيْنٌ يَا زَيْدُ مَنْ أَهْلُ بَيْتِهِ؟ أَلَيْسَتْ نِسَاؤُهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ؟ قَالَ بَلَى إِنَّ نِسَاءَهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَلَكِنَّ أَهْلَ بَيْتِهِ الَّذِينَ ذَكَرَهُمْ مَنْ حُرِمُوا الصَّدَقَةَ بَعْدَهُ قَالَ وَمَنْ هُمْ؟ قَالَ آلُ عَلِيٍّ وَآلُ عَقِيلٍ وَآلُ جَعْفَرٍ وَآلُ الْعَبَّاسِ قَالَ وَكُلُّ هَؤُلَاءِ حُرِمُوا الصَّدَقَةَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ

[Machine] I heard Zaid bin Arqam saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood amongst us one day as a preacher and praised Allah and glorified Him. Then he said, 'O people, I am only a human being and the Messenger of my Lord will soon come to me, and I will respond to him. I am leaving among you two weighty things: the first is the Book of Allah in which there is guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it.' He exhorted and encouraged (us) to do so. Then he said, 'And the people of my household, I remind you of Allah with regards to the people of my household.' Husein said to Zaid, 'Who are the people of his household?' Zaid replied, 'The members of his household are his wives.' Husein said, 'Yes, indeed. The wives of the Prophet ﷺ are the members of his household, but what I meant are those who are forbidden from receiving charity after his death.' Zaid said, 'They are the family of Ali, the family of Aqil, the family of Jafar, and the family of Abbas.' Husein said, 'All of them are forbidden from receiving charity?' Zaid replied, 'Yes.'

سَمِعْتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ ؓ يَقُولُ قَامَ فِينَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ خَطِيبًا فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَنِي رَسُولُ رَبِّي فَأُجِيبَهُ وَإِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ أَوَّلُهُمَا كِتَابُ اللهِ فِيهِ الْهُدَى وَالنُّورُ فَتَمَسَّكُوا بِكِتَابِ اللهِ وَخُذُوا بِهِ فَحَثَّ عَلَيْهِ وَرَغَّبَ فِيهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِي أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللهَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي قَالَ حُصَيْنٌ لِزَيْدٍ وَمِنْ أَهِلِ بَيْتِهِ نِسَاؤُهُ مِنْ أَهِلِ بَيْتِهِ قَالَ بَلَى إِنَّ نِسَاءَهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَلَكِنَّ أَهْلَ بَيْتِهِ مَنْ حُرِمَ الصَّدَقَةَ بَعْدَهُ قَالَ وَمَنْ هُمْ قَالَ آلُ عَلِيٍّ وَآلُ عُقَيْلٍ وَآلُ جَعْفَرٍ وَآلُ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كُلُّ هَؤُلَاءِ تَحْرُمُ عَلَيْهِمُ الصَّدَقَةُ قَالَ نَعَمْ

[Machine] One day, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood among us as a preacher. He praised Allah and spoke highly of Him. Then he said, "O people, I am only a human being, and the messenger of my Lord will soon come to me, and I will respond to him. I am leaving behind two weighty things among you, the first of which is the Book of Allah, in which there is guidance and light. Hold firmly to the Book of Allah, and take heed from it." He emphasized the importance of the Book of Allah and encouraged the people to adhere to it. Then he said, "And the people of my household, I remind you of Allah, the Exalted, regarding the people of my household, three times."

قَامَ فِينَا ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَطِيبًا فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ رَسُولُ رَبِّي فَأُجِيبَهُ وَإِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ أَوَّلُهُمَا كِتَابُ اللهِ فِيهِ الْهُدَى وَالنُّورُ فَاسْتَمْسِكُوا بِكِتَابِ اللهِ وَخُذُوا بِهِ فَحَثَّ عَلَى كِتَابِ اللهِ وَرَغَّبَ فِيهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِي أُذَكِّرُكُمُ اللهَ تَعَالَى فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah, ﷺ , said: "I have left among you that which if you hold onto, you will never go astray after me. They are the Book of Allah and my Sunnah. They will not separate until they meet me at the Pool."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي قَدْ خَلَّفْتُ فِيكُمْ مَا لَنْ تَضِلُّوا بَعْدَهُمَا مَا أَخَذْتُمْ بِهِمَا أَوْ عَمِلْتُمْ بِهِمَا كِتَابُ اللهِ وَسُنَّتِي وَلَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ

"كأنِّى قَدْ دعُيتُ فَأَجَبْتُ، وَإنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكم الثَّقَلَينِ: كتَابَ اللهِ حَبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ بَينَ السَّمَاءِ وَالأرْضِ، وَعِترَتِى أهْلَ بَيتِى، وإنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَتفرَّقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ، فانْظُرؤا كَيفَ تَخْلُفُونِى فيهِمَا".

"كَأنِّى قَدْ دُعِيتُ فَأَجَبْتُ، إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فيكُمْ الثقَلَينِ أحَدُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ من الآخَر، كتَابُ اللهِ وَعِتْرَتِى أهلُ بَيتِى، فَانْظُرُوا كيفَ تَخْلُفُونِى فِيهِمَا فَإِنَّهمَا لَنْ يَتَفَرَّقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا على الْحَوْضِ، إِنَّ الله مَوْلايْ وَأَنَا وَلِيُّ كُلِّ مُؤمِنٍ مَنْ كنتُ مَوْلاهُ فَعَليٌّ مَوْلاهُ، اللَّهُمَّ وَالِ مَنْ وَالاهُ، وَعَادِ مَنْ عَادَاهُ".

"كِتَابُ الله وَسُنَّتِى لَنْ يَتَفَرَّقا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَى الْحَوْضِ".

"أما بعدُ، ألا أيها النَّاسُ، فَإِنَّما أنا بَشَرٌ يوشِكُ أن يأتي رسولُ ربي فَأُجِيبَ، وأنا تاركٌ، فيكُمْ ثقلَيْنِ: أوَّلهما كتابُ اللهِ، فيه الهدى والنُّورُ، من استمسك به وأخذ به، كان الهُدَى، ومن أخْطأهُ ضَلَّ، فخذُوا بكتابِ اللهِ، واستمسكوا به، وأهلُ بيتى، أذكِّركم اللهَ في أهلِ بَيتي، أذكركم الله في أهل بيتى".

"ترَكْتُ فيكُم شَيئَينِ: لَن تَضِلُّوا بَعدَهُما: كِتَابَ اللهِ تعالى، وَسُنَّتِي، وَلن يَتَفَرَّقا حتَّى يَرِدا عَلَى الحَوْضِ".

"تَرَكْتُ فيكُم مَا لَن تَضِلُّوا بَعدِى إِنِ اعْتَصمْتُم بِهِ؛ كتابَ الله، وَعِتْرَتِى أَهْلَ بَيتِى".

("إِنِّى تارِكٌ فيكم الثَّقَلَيْنِ أَحدُهُما أَكَبُر من الآخرِ؛ كتابُ اللَّه حبْلٌ ممدودٌ من السماءِ إِلى الأَرْضِ، وَعِتْرَتِى: أَهْلَ بَيْتِى ولنْ يَتَفَرَّقا حَتَّى يردَا علىّ الْحَوْضَ" .

"إِنِّى تارِكٌ فيكُمْ ما إِنْ تَمَسَّكْتُمْ بِهِ لن تضلُّوا: كتابَ اللَّه سببٌ. طرَفُه بيد اللَّه وطرفُه بأَيديكم، وعتْرتِى أَهْل بَيْتِى، وإِنَّهُما لنْ يَتَفرَّقا حَتَّى يردَّا علىَّ الْحَوْضَ" .

"إِنِّى أُوشكُ أَنْ أُدْعى فأُجيب، وإِنِّى تاركٌ فيكُم كتابَ اللَّه وعترتِى، كتابُ اللَّه حبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ من السَّماءِ إِلى الأَرضِ وعْترتِى أَهْلُ بيْتى وإِنَّ اللَّطيفَ الخبيرَ خبَّرنِى أَنَّهما لنْ يفْتَرِقَا حتَّى يردَا علىَّ الحَوْضَ، فانْظُرُوا كيْفَ تَخْلفُونى فِيهِما" .

"إِنِّى قَدْ خَلَّفْتُ فِيكُمْ مَا لَنْ تضلُّوا بَعْدَهُمَا مَا أخَذْتُمْ بِهِمَا، أَوْ عَمِلتُمْ بِهمَا. كِتابَ اللَّهِ وسُنَّتى وَلَنْ يَتَفَرَّقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلىَّ الْحَوْضَ" .

"إِنِّى تارِكٌ فيكُمْ ما إِنْ تمسَّكُتُم به بعْدِى لمْ تضِلُّوا كتابَ اللَّه وعِتْرَتِى أَهْلَ بيتى وإِنَّهُما لنْ يتفرَّقا حتَّى يردا علىَّ الحوْض".

"إِنِّى لكُمْ فَرط ، وإِنَّكُمْ واردون علىَّ الحَوضَ عَرْضُه ما بيْنَ صَنْعاءَ إِلى بُصْرى، فيه عددُ الكواكبِ منْ قِدْ حانِ الذهب والفضَّةِ، فانظرُوا كَيْفَ تَخْلُفونِي في الثَّقلين؟ قيل: وما الثقلان يا رسولَ اللَّه؟ قال: الأَكْبَرُ كتابُ اللَّه، سببٌ طرفُه بيدِ اللَّه وطرفُه بأَيديكُم، فتمسَّكُوا بِهِ لنْ تزلُّوا ولا تضلُّوا، والأَصْغَرُ عِتْرَتِى، وإِنَّهما لنْ يَتَفرقا حتَّى يردا علىَّ الحوض، وسأَلتُ لهما ذاك ربِّى، فلا تقدَّموهما فتهلكُوا ولا تعلمُوهما فإِنَّهما أَعلمُ منكم".

"إِنِّى تاركٌ فيكم خليفَتَيْنِ: كتابُ اللَّه حبْلٌ ممدودٌ ما بَيْنَ السماءِ والأَرضِ، وعِترتى أَهْلُ بيْتِى، وإِنَّهما لنْ يتفرَّقا حتَّى يردَا علىَّ الْحوْض" .

"إِنِّى تاركٌ فيكم الثَّقَلَيْن مِنْ بعدى: كتابُ اللَّه وعترتِى أَهْلُ بيْتِى، وإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يتفرّقا حتَّى يرِدَا علىَّ الحوضَ" .

"أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ تَرَكْت فِيكمْ مَا إِنْ أَخْذْتُمْ بِهِ لَنْ تَضِلُوا كِتَابَ اللهِ، وَعِترْتِى أَهْلَ بَيتِى".

"أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُم مَا إِنْ أَخَذْتُمْ بهِ لَنْ تَضِلُّوا بَعْدِى أَمْرَينَ أَحَدُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ مِنْ الآخَرَ: كتَابُ اللهُ حَبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ مَا بَينَ السَّمَاءِ والأرْضِ، وَعِتْرَتِى أَهْلُ بَيتِى، وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَتَفَرَّقَا حَتَّى يَردَا عَلَيَّ الحَوْضَ".

"يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ! إِنِّى تَرَكْتُ فِيكُمْ مَا إِنْ أَخَذْتُمْ بِهِ لَنْ تَضِلُّوا كِتَابَ اللهِ وَعِتْرَتِى أهْلَ بَيْتِى".

"يَا أيُّهَا النَّاسُ: إِنِّي فَرَطٌ لكُم، وَإِنَّكُمْ وَارِدُونَ عَلَىَّ الْحَوْضَ، حَوْضٌ أَعْرَضُ مَا بَيْنَ صَنْعَاءَ وَبُصْرَى، فِيهِ عَدَدُ النُّجُومِ قُدْحَانٌ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، وِإنِّى سَائِلكُمْ حِينَ تَرِدُونَ عَلَىَّ عَنِ الثَّقلَيْنِ، فَانْظُرُوا كَيْفَ تَخْلُفُونِي فِيهِمَا، الثَّقَلُ الأكْبَرُ كِتَابُ اللهِ سَبَبٌ طَرَفُهُ بِيَدِ اللهِ ﷻ وَطَرَفُهُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ، فَاسْتَمْسِكُوا بِهِ ولا تَضِلُّوا ولا تُبَدِّلُوا، وعِتْرَتِى أهْل بَيْتِى؛ فَإنَّه قَدْ نَبَّأَنِي اللَّطِيفُ الْخَبِيرُ أَنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا، إِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَردا عَلىَّ الحَوْضَ".

"عن يزيد بن حبان، عن زيد بن أرقم قال: قام فينا رسول الله ﷺ خطيبا بماءٍ يدعى خما بين مكة والمدينة، فحمد الله، وأثنى عليه، ووعظ، وذكر، ثم قال: أما بعد أيها الناس، إنى أنتظرُ أن يَأتِيَنِى رسولُ رَبِّى فَأُجيبُ، وإنِّى تَاركٌ فيكم الثقلين، أحدهما كتابُ الله فيه الهدى والصدق، فاستمسكوا بكتاب الله، وخذوا به فَرغب فِى كتابِ الله وحثَّ عَليْهِ، ثم قال: وأهلُ بيتى، أُذَكِّركُم الله فِى أهل بيتى، ثلاث مرات، فقيل لزيد وَمَنْ أهل بيته؟ أليس نساؤه من أهل بيته؟ فقال زيد: إن نِسَاءَهُ مِنْ أهلِ بيتهِ، ولكن أهلَ بيته مَنْ حرم الصدقَةَ بَعْدَهُ، قيل: وَمَنْ هُمْ؟ قال: هُم آل العباس، وآل علَىٍّ، وآل جعفر، وآل عقيل، قال: أَكُلُّ هَؤُلَاءِ يُحَرمُ الصَّدَقةَ، قال: نَعَمْ".

"عن يزيد بن حبان، عن زيد بن أرقم قال: قَامَ فينا رسولُ الله ﷺ بواد بين مكة والمدينة يدعى خما خطيبا. فقال: إنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَر أُوشِكُ أَنْ أُدْعَى فَأُجيبُ، ألا وإنى تاركٌ فيكم ثَقَلَيْنِ: أَحَدُهما كتاب الله حبل مَنْ اتبعه كان على الهدى ومن تركه كان على الضلالة، وأهل بيتى، أُذَكِّرُكُم الله فِى أَهْلِ بَيْتِى، ثَلَاثَ مَرَّات".

"عَنْ أَبِى سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّى تَارِكٌ فِيِكُمْ أَمْرَيْنِ إِنْ أَخَذْتُمْ بِهِمَا لَنْ تَضِلُّوا بَعْدِى أبَدًا، وَأَحَدُهُمَا أَفْضَلُ مِن الآخَرِ، كِتَابُ الله هُوَ حَبْلُ الله الْمَمْدُودُ مِن السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الأَرْضِ، وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِى عِتْرَتِى، أَلَا وَإِنَّهُمَا لَمْ يَتَفَرقَا حَتَّى يَرِدا عَلَىَّ الْحَوْضَ".
