"I came to the Messenger of Allah from a journey and greeted him with Salam. When I was going to leave he said: 'Stay and have meal for breakfast, O Abu Umayyah.' I said: 'I am fasting, O Prophet of Allah.' He said: 'Come and I will tell about the traveler. Allah, most high, has waived fasting and of the prayer for him."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2269)  

قَدِمْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِنْ سَفَرٍ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمَّا ذَهَبْتُ لِأَخْرُجَ قَالَ «انْتَظَرِ الْغَدَاءَ يَا أَبَا أُمَيَّةَ» قُلْتُ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ «أُخْبِرُكَ عَنِ الْمُسَافِرِ إِنَّ اللهَ وَضَعَ عَنْهُ الصِّيَامَ وَنِصْفَ الصَّلَاةِ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed, among the signs of the Hour are three, one of which is that knowledge will be sought from the young ones."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ مِنْ أَشْرَاطِ السَّاعَةِ ثَلَاثَةً إِحْدَاهُنَّ أَنْ يَلْتَمِسَ الْعِلْمَ عِنْدَ الْأَصَاغِرِ  

[Machine] We were with 'Anbasa ibn Sa'id, and one day I rode to Al-Hajjaj. A man named Abu Ghadiyah al-Juhani came to him, and 'Abd al-A'la ibn 'Abdullah said to him, "Get up and go to him and tell him to come down and say, 'Now you go back.'" So we went to him and said to him, "Now you go back." He came down and 'Abd al-A'la entered to seek rain. Water was brought in a glass cup, but he refused to drink from it. Then it was brought in a pure cup and he drank from it. He said, "I have testified to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that I will return to my family with the wealth." Rashid ibn Abu 'Ayadah asked, "And was she with you, O 'Abd al-A'la?" So 'Abd al-A'la reprimanded him and said, "They have divided it between them." He said, "I bear witness that his sermon on the day of 'Aqabah was, 'Your blood and your wealth are sacred to you, as sacred as this day of yours in this month of yours in this land of yours. Behold, do not become disbelievers after me, striking the necks of one another until the Day of Resurrection.' Until the day 'Uthman was besieged, I heard a man saying, 'Shall I not kill him?' So I looked at him and it was 'Ammar. If it were not for those who were behind him from his companions, I would have stabbed him." Then he said, "O Allah, if You will, make me meet him." When the day of Siffin came, I found myself facing an evil man leading a platoon. I looked at his shield and it slipped from his knee, so I struck him and behold, it was 'Ammar.  

كُنَّا عِنْدَ عَنْبَسَةَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ فَرَكِبْتُ يَوْمًا إِلَى الْحَجَّاجِ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو غَادِيَةَ الْجُهَنِيُّ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ قُومُوا إِلَيْهِ فَأَنْزَلُوهُ فَقُولُوا الْآنَ تَرْجِعُ فَخَرَجْنَا إِلَيْهِ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ الْآنَ تَرْجِعُ فَنَزَلَ فَدَخَلَ عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى فَاسْتَسْقَى فَأُتِيَ بِمَاءٍ فِي قَدَحِ زُجَاجٍ فَأَبَى أَنْ يَشْرَبَ فِي الزُّجَاجِ ثُمَّ أُتِيَ بِهِ فِي قَدَحِ نُضَارٍ فَشَرِبَ فَقَالَ بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَرُدُّ عَلَى أَهْلِي الْمَالَ فَقَالَ رَاشِدُ بْنُ أَبْيَضَ وَكَانَ مَعِي عِنْدَ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى أَبِيَمِينِكَ هَذِهِ؟ فَانْتَهَرَهُ عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى وَقَالَ اقْتَسَمَا لَهُ قَالَ وَشَهِدْتُ خُطْبَتَهُ يَوْمَ الْعَقَبَةِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا أَلَا لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ» حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ أُحِيطَ بِعُثْمَانَ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا وَهُوَ يَقُولُ «أَلَا لَا تَقْتُلْ هَذَا؟» فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَإِذَا هُوَ عَمَّارٌ فَلَوْلَا مَنْ كَانَ خَلْفَهُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ لَوَطَّنْتُ بَطْنَهُ فَقُلْتُ اللهُمَّ إِنْ تَشَأْ أَنْ يُلْقِينِيهِ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ صِفِّينَ إِذَا أَنَا بِرَجُلِ شَرٍّ يَقُودُ كَتِيبَةً رَاجِلًا فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَى الدِّرْعِ فَانْكَسَفَ عَنْ رُكْبَتِهِ فَأَطْعُنُهُ فَإِذَا هُوَ عَمَّارٌ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not travel except to the Sacred Mosque, my mosque here, and Al-Aqsa Mosque."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تُشَدُّ الرِّحَالُ إِلَّا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَمَسْجِدِي هَذَا وَمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى»  

[Machine] He informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever is able to marry but does not marry, then he is not of me."  

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ كَانَ مُوسِرًا لَأَنْ يَنْكِحَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنْكِحْ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي»  

[Machine] I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when Abu Bakr and Umar came. He said, "Praise be to Allah who supported me with them."  

كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ جَالِسًا فَطَلَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ فَقَالَ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَيَّدَنِي بِهِمَا»  

[Machine] There was a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ called Abu Al-Khattab who asked the Prophet ﷺ about Witr prayer. The Prophet ﷺ replied, "I prefer to perform Witr prayer during the second half of the night. Surely, Allah descends from the highest heaven to the lowest heaven and says, 'Is there anyone who asks so I may grant? Is there anyone who seeks forgiveness so I may forgive? Is there anyone who supplicates so I may respond?' Until the dawn comes up."  

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو الْخَطَّابِ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الْوِتْرِ فَقَالَ أُحِبُّ أَنْ أُوتِرَ نِصْفَ اللَّيْلِ؛ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يَهْبِطُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ الْعُلْيَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا فَيَقُولُ هَلْ مِنْ سَائِلٍ؟ هَلْ مِنْ مُسْتَغْفِرٍ؟ هَلْ مِنْ دَاعٍ؟ حَتَّى إِذَا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ ارْتَفَعَ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you see women wearing something resembling the humps of camels on their heads, then know that their prayer will not be accepted."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ اللَّاتِي ألْقَيْنَ عَلَى رَءُوسِهِنَّ مِثْلَ أَسْنِمَةِ الْبَقَرِ فَأَعْلِمُوهُنَّ أَنَّهُ لَا يُقْبَلُ لَهُنَّ صَلَاةٌ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ knocked on my door, and I was with my wife, so I disliked going out to him until I performed ablution. I took my time and caught up with him, and I informed him. He said to me, "You should have come down." I said, "No." He said, "Indeed, only ablution was necessary for you."  

دَقَّ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْبَابَ وَقَدْ أَلْمَمْتُ بِالْمَرْأَةِ فَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أخْرُجَ إِلَيْهِ حَتَّى أغْتَسِلُ فَأَبْطَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَلَحِقْتُهُ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ لِي «كُنْتَ أَنْزَلْتَ» قُلْتُ لَا قَالَ «أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا الْوُضُوءُ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ once prayed and entered his house, and amongst the people was a man with long hands who the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to call "Dhu al-Yadayn" (the one with two hands). Dhu al-Yadayn said, "O Messenger of Allah, did the prayer become shorter or did you forget?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "It did not become shorter nor did I forget." He said, "But you forgot the prayer." The Prophet ﷺ then advanced and prayed two Rak'ahs with them, then he made the salutation and pronounced the Takbeer and prostrated like his first prostration, or even longer. Then he pronounced the Takbeer and raised his head, then he pronounced the Takbeer and prostrated like his first prostration, or even longer. Then he pronounced the Takbeer and raised his head, and Muhammad did not preserve the salutation afterwards, or not?"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى يَوْمًا وَدَخَلَ الْبَيْتَ وَكَانَ فِي الْقَوْمِ رَجُلٌ طَوِيلُ الْيَدَيْنِ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُسَمِّيهِ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ فَقَالَ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَصُرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ أَمْ نَسِيتَ؟ قَالَ «لَمْ تَقْصُرْ وَلَمْ أَنَسَ» قَالَ بَلْ نَسِيتَ الصَّلَاةَ قَالَ «فَتَقَدَّمَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ فَسَجَدَ مِثْلَ سُجُودِهِ أَوْ أَطْوَلَ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ وَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ وَسَجَدَ مِثْلَ سُجُودِهِ أَوْ أَطْوَلَ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ وَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَلَمْ يَحْفَظْ مُحَمَّدٌ سَلَّمَ بَعْدُ أَمْ لَا»  

[Machine] I was in the city when a woman passed by me. I grabbed her garment and I could hear the messenger, meaning the Prophet ﷺ, conducting the allegiance of the people. So, I went to him, but he did not conduct the allegiance with me and he said, "The companion of the cloak from yesterday." So, I said, "By Allah, I will not return, O Messenger of Allah. So, he conducted the allegiance with me."  

كُنْتُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَمَرَّتْ بِي امْرَأَةٌ فَأَخَذْتُ بِكَشْحِهَا وَأَسْمَعُ الرَّسُولَ يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُبَايِعُ النَّاسَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَلَمْ يُبَايِعْنِي وَقَالَ «صَاحِبُ الْجُبَيْذَةِ بِالْأَمْسِ» فَقُلْتُ وَاللهِ لَا أَعُودُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَبَايَعَنِي  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Hold fast to the obedience of your leaders and do not differ from them, for indeed, their obedience is the obedience of Allah, and their disobedience is the disobedience of Allah. Indeed, Allah has sent me to invite to His path with wisdom and good preaching. Whoever succeeds me in that, he is from me and I am from him."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «تَمَسَّكُوا بِطَاعَةِ أَئِمَّتِكُمْ وَلَا تُخَالِفُوهُمْ فَإِنَّ طَاعَتَهُمْ طَاعَةُ اللهِ وَإِنَّ مَعْصِيتَهُمْ مَعْصِيَةُ اللهِ فَإِنَّ اللهَ بَعَثَنِي أَدْعُو إِلَى سَبِيلِهِ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ فَمَنْ خَلَفَنِي فِي ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ»  

[Machine] "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'There will be caliphs after me, and after the caliphs there will be rulers, and after the rulers there will be kings, and after the kings there will be tyrants. Then, a man from my household will emerge and fill the earth with justice, just as it was filled with injustice. Then, the Qahtani will be commanded, and by the One who sent me with the truth, he is not beneath him.'"  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «سَيَكُونُ مِنْ بَعْدِي خُلَفَاءُ وَمِنْ بَعْدِ الْخُلَفَاءِ أُمَرَاءُ وَمِنْ بَعْدِ الْأُمَرَاءِ مُلُوكٌ وَمِنْ بَعْدِ الْمُلُوكِ جَبَابِرَةٌ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي يَمْلَأُ الْأَرْضَ عَدْلًا كَمَا مُلِئَتْ جَوْرًا ثُمَّ يُؤَمَّرُ الْقَحْطَانِيُّ فَوَالَّذِي بَعَثَنِي بِالْحَقِّ مَا هُوَ دُونَهُ»  

[Machine] "I saw on the Prophet ﷺ on the Day of Uhud two shields."  

«رَأَيْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ دِرْعَيْنِ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever gives a drink to the thirsty and quenches their thirst, a door from Paradise is opened for them. It is said to them, 'Enter from it.' And whoever feeds a hungry person and satisfies their hunger, and gives a drink to the thirsty and quenches their thirst, all the doors of Paradise are opened for them. It is said to them, 'Enter from whichever door you wish.'"  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ سَقَى عَطْشَانَ فَأَرْوَاهُ فُتِحَ لَهُ بَابٌ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ ادْخُلْ مِنْهُ وَمَنْ أَطْعَمَ جَائِعًا فَأَشْبَعَهُ وَسَقَى عَطْشَانَ فَأَرْوَاهُ فُتِحَتْ لَهُ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ كُلُّهَا فَقِيلَ لَهُ ادْخُلْ مِنْ أَيُّهَا شِئْتَ  

[Machine] "Mism'un waranee usalli khalfa al-is-toonati al-wustaa min al-bayti faqala hadathani abi an jaddi annahu "raa rasool Allahi salli Allahu alayhi wa sallam yusalli khalfaha rak'atayn.""  

مِسْمَعٌ وَرَآنِي أُصَلِّي خَلْفَ الْإِسْطُوانَةِ الْوُسْطَى مِنَ الْبَيْتِ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَدِّي أَنَّهُ «رَأَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي خَلْفَهَا رَكْعَتَيْنِ»  

[Machine] We were with the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "A group of people will travel without having any company from these blessings, meaning a camel or anything. No one among you should be accompanied by a stray person, and no one should turn away a seeker if you seek profit and safety. No one should be accompanied by someone from the people if you truly believe in Allah and the Last Day. There will be no sorcerer or sorceress, no fortune-teller or fortune-telling woman, no astrologer or astrologer woman, and no poet or poetess. If Allah wants to punish any of His servants, He sends him to the lower heaven. Therefore, abstain from disobeying Allah in the evening."  

كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «الْقَوْمُ سَفْرَى لَا يَصْحَبَنَّكُمْ خِلَالٌ مِنْ هَذِهِ النَّعَمِ يَعْنِي الضَّوَالَّ وَلَا يَصْحَبَنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ ضَالَّةً وَلَا يَرُدَّنَّ سَائِلًا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُرِيدُونَ الرِّبْحَ وَالسَّلَامَةَ وَلَا يَصْحَبَنَّكُمْ مِنَ النَّاسِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ سَاحِرٌ وَلَا سَاحِرَةٌ وَلَا كَاهِنٌ وَلَا كَاهِنَةٌ وَلَا مُنَجِّمٌ وَلَا مُنَجَّمَةٌ وَلَا شَاعِرٌ وَلَا شَاعِرَةٌ وَإِنَّ كُلَّ عَذَابٍ يُرِيدُ اللهُ أَنْ يُعَذِّبَ بِهِ أَحَدًا مِنْ عِبَادِهِ فَإِنَّمَا يَبْعَثُ بِهِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا فَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ عِشَاءً»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The grave speaks to the deceased when he is placed in it, saying: Woe be to you, O Son of Adam! What deceived you about me? Did you not know that I am the house of trials, the house of darkness, the house of loneliness, and the house of worms? What deceived you about me when you used to pass by me as a passerby? So if he is a righteous person, the grave will respond to him and say: Have you seen if he was one who commanded the good and forbade evil? Then the grave will say: I will turn green for him, and his body will turn into light, and his soul will ascend to the Lord of the worlds. Then a man asked: O Abu Al-Hajjaj, what is Al-Faddad? He replied: It is the one who precedes one person and delays another, like your walking, O son of my brother, sometimes he walks fast and sometimes he walks slow. And on that day, he will be wearing and preparing himself.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الْقَبْرُ لِلْمَيِّتِ حِينَ يُوضَعُ فِيهِ وَيْحَكَ ابْنَ آدَمَ مَا غَرَّكَ بِي؟ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنِّي بَيْتُ الْفِتْنَةِ وَبَيْتُ الظُّلْمَةِ وَبَيْتُ الْوَحْدَةِ وَبَيْتُ الدُّودِ؟ مَا غَرَّكَ بِي إِذَا كُنْتَ تَمُرُّ بِي فَدَّادًا؟ فَإِنْ كَانَ مُصْلِحًا أَجَابَ عَنْهُ مُجِيبُ الْقَبْرِ فَيَقُولُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ مِمَّنْ يَأْمُرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ؟ فَيَقُولُ الْقَبْرُ إِذَنْ أَعُودُ إِلَيْهِ خَضْرَاءَ وَيَعُودُ جَسَدُهُ نُورًا وَيَصْعَدُ رُوحُهُ إِلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا أَبَا الْحَجَّاجِ وَمَا الْفَدَّادُ؟ قَالَ الَّذِي يُقْدِمُ رَجُلًا وَيُؤَخِّرُ أُخْرَى كَمِشْيَتِكَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي أَحْيَانًا وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَلْبَسُ وَيَتَهَيَّأُ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Cursed is the one who asks in the name of Allah, and cursed is the one who is asked in the name of Allah, but who refuses his requester."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَلْعُونٌ مَنْ سَأَلَ بِوَجْهِ اللهِ وَمَلْعُونٌ مَنْ سُئِلَ بِوَجْهِ اللهِ فَمَنَعَ سَائِلَهُ»  

[Machine] Narrated by Abu Nuhaalah, a companion of the Prophet ﷺ, that he was hit by an arrow. It was said to him, "Remove it!" He said, "O Allah, lessen the pain but do not lessen the reward." It was said to him, "Pray." He said, "O Allah, make me among the nearest ones and make my mother among the Hur al-'Ayn."  

عَنْ أَبِي نُحَيْلَةَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ رُمِيَ بِسَهْمٍ فَقِيلَ لَهُ انْزِعْهُ فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ انْقُصْ مِنَ الْوَجَعِ وَلَا تَنْقُصْ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ» فَقِيلَ لَهُ ادْعُ فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ وَاجْعَلْ أُمِّي مِنَ الْحُورِ الْعِينِ»  

[Machine] Abu 'Atiyyah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat down and said that a man had passed away. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Did anyone see him performing any good deeds?" A man replied, "Yes, I guarded with him for a night in the way of Allah." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and those with him stood up and when the deceased was placed in the grave, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took some soil with his hand and said, "Indeed, your companions think that you are destined for Hell, but I bear witness that you are destined for Paradise." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, "Do not ask about the actions of people, but ask about their inclination."  

أَبُو عَطِيَّةَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ جَلَسَ فَحَدَّثَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا تُوُفِّيَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هَلْ رَآهُ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ عَلَى عَمِلٍ مِنْ أَعْمَالِ الْخَيْرِ» فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ نَعَمْ حَرَسْتُ مَعَهُ لَيْلَةً فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا أُدْخِلَ الْقَبْرَ حَثَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدِهِ مِنَ التُّرَابِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِنَّ أَصْحَابَكَ يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّكَ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ «لَا تَسَلْ عَنْ أَعْمَالِ النَّاسِ وَلَكِنْ سَلْ عَنِ الْفِطْرَةِ»  

[Machine] And he is from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ that the Prophet ﷺ bought a horse from an Arab and he approached to give him the price of his horse. So the Prophet ﷺ walked quickly and the Arab walked slowly. Some men intercepted the Arab and bargained with him for the horse, not realizing that the Prophet ﷺ had bought it, until some of them exceeded the price of the horse that the Prophet ﷺ had bought. So the Arab called out to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "If you are a buyer of this horse, then buy it, otherwise, let me sell it." The Prophet ﷺ said when he heard the call of the Arab, "Didn't you buy it?" He said, "No, by Allah, we did not sell it to you." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Yes, indeed, I bought it." Then the people fled with the Prophet ﷺ and the Arab, and they both retreated. The Arab then said, "Come, be my witness that I have sold it to you." So whoever came from the Muslims said to the Arab, "Woe to you! The Prophet ﷺ would not lie except with truth." Until Khuzaymah came and listened to the review of the Prophet ﷺ and the review of the Arab. The Arab then said, "Come, be my witness that I have sold it to you." Khuzaymah said, "I bear witness that you have indeed sold it to him." So the Prophet ﷺ approached Khuzaymah and said, "What will you testify to?" He said, "By your truthfulness, O Messenger of Allah." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ considered the testimony of Khuzaymah as the testimony of two men.  

وَهُوَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ ابْتَاعَ فَرَسًا مِنْ أَعْرَابِيٍّ فَتَقَدَّمَهُ لِيُعْطِيَهُ ثَمَنَ فَرَسِهِ فَأَسْرَعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْمَشْيَ وَأَبْطَأَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ فَطَفِقَ رِجَالٌ يَعْتَرِضُونَ الْأَعْرَابِيَّ وَيُسَاوِمُونَهُ بِالْفَرَسِ وَلَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ ابْتَاعَهُ حَتَّى زَادَ بَعْضُهُمِ الْأَعْرَابِيَّ فِي السَّوْمِ عَلَى ثَمَنِ الْفَرَسِ الَّذِي ابْتَاعَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَنَادَى الْأَعْرَابِيُّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنْ كُنْتَ مُبْتَاعًا هَذَا الْفَرَسَ فَابْتَعْهُ وَإِلَّا بِعْتُهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ حِينَ سَمِعَ نِدَاءَ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ «أَوَلَيْسَ قَدِ ابْتَعْتَهُ؟» قَالَ لَا وَاللهِ مَا بَايَعْنَاكَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «بَلَى قَدِ ابْتَعْتَهُ» فَطَفِقَ النَّاسُ يَلُوذُونَ بِالنَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَالْأَعْرَابِيِّ وَهُمَا يَتَرَاجَعَانِ فَطَفِقَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ يَقُولُ هَلُمَّ شَهِيدًا يَشْهَدُ أَنِّي بَايَعْتُكَ فَمَنْ جَاءَ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ قَالَ لِلْأَعْرَابِيِّ وَيْلَكَ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَمْ يَكُنْ لِيَقُلْ إِلَّا حَقًّا حَتَّى جَاءَ خُزَيْمَةُ فَاسْتَمَعَ لِمُرَاجَعَةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَمُرَاجَعَةِ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ فَطَفِقَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ يَقُولُ هَلُمَّ شَهِيدًا إِنِّي بِعْتُكَ فَقَالَ خُزَيْمَةُ أَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ قَدْ بِعْتَهُ فَأَقْبَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى خُزَيْمَةَ فَقَالَ «بِمَ تَشْهَدُ؟» قَالَ بِتَصْدِيقِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ شَهَادَةَ خُزَيْمَةَ بِشَهَادَةِ رَجُلَيْنِ  

[Machine] I came with my brother, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , while he was praying in the Masjid al-Khaif, and we had already prayed the obligatory prayers at home, so we did not pray with them. He said, "What prevented you both from praying with us?" We said, "We have already prayed the obligatory prayers at home." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When a man prays the obligatory prayers at home and then joins a congregation, his prayer in his house becomes a voluntary prayer."  

أَتَيْتُ أَنَا وَأَخِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْخَيْفِ يُصَلِّي وَقَدْ صَلَّيْنَا الْمَكْتُوبَةَ فِي الْبَيْتِ فَلَمْ نُصَلِّ مَعَهُمْ فَقَالَ «مَا مَنَعَكُمَا أَنْ تُصَلِّيَا مَعَنَا؟» قُلْنَا قَدْ كُنَّا صَلَّيْنَا الْمَكْتُوبَةَ فِي الْبَيْتِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا صَلَّى الرَّجُلُ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ فِي الْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ أَدْرَكَ جَمَاعَةً فَلْيُصَلِّ مَعَهُمْ فَتَكُونُ صَلَاتُهُ فِي بَيْتِهِ نَافِلَةً»  

[Machine] He came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the company of a man from his people, while he was in Medina after his migration to it. So, we presented him, striking the necks of the prisoners with a little water. He was killed on him until the water became covered with blood. Safwan said, "Safaha means he covered the water".  

أَنَّهُ قَدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي رَجُلٍ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ وَهُوَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ بَعْدَ مُهَاجَرِهِ إِلَيْهَا فَوَافَيْنَاهُ يَضْرِبُ أَعْنَاقَ أُسَارَى عَلَى مَاءٍ قَلِيلٍ فَقُتِلَ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى سَفَحَ الدَّمُ الْمَاءَ قَالَ صَفْوَانُ سَفَحَ يَعْنِي غَطَّى الْمَاءَ  

[Machine] Narrated by Abu Wahb Al-Jushami, who had companionship, he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Call yourselves by the names of the Prophets: the dearest of names to Allah are Abdullah and Abdur-Rahman, and the most truthful are Harith and Hammam. The ugliest are Harb and Murrah. Connect yourselves with horses and touch their manes, and stroke their forelocks (for luck), and do what is suitable for them, but do not overstep the limits, and do not overstep the limits in the case of exploiting or reading the stars. And be cautious of wearing clothes made of silk, for whoever wears it in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter."  

عَنْ أَبِي وَهْبٍ الْجُشَمِيِّ وَكَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «تَسَمُّوا بِاسْمِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ أَحَبُّ الْأَسْمَاءِ إِلَى اللهِ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَأَصْدَقُهَا حَارِثٌ وَهَمَّامٌ وأَقْبَحُهَا حَرْبٌ وَمُرَّةَ وَارْتَبِطُوا الْخَيْلَ وَامْسَحُوا بِنَوَاصِيهَا وَأَعْجَازِهَا أَوْ قَالَ وَأَكْفَالِهَا وَقَلِّدُوهَا وَلَا تُقَلِّدُوهَا الْأَوْتَارَ وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِكُلٍّ كُمَيْتٍ أَغَرَّ مُحَجَّلٍ أَوْ أَشْقَرَ أَغَرَّ مُحَجَّلٍ أَوْ أَدْهَمَ أَغَرَّ مُحَجَّلٍ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The right of a man that he withholds his brother's wealth to cause infertility in the womb."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «الْيَمِينُ الَّتِي يَقْتَطِعُ بِهَا الرَّجُلُ مَالَ أَخِيهِ لِتَعْقُمَ الرَّحِمُ»  

[Machine] I saw Abu Amr Al-Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, who was a companion of Badr, Uhud, and Al-Hudaybiyah. He was fasting and suffering from severe thirst. He said to his servant, "Oh my son, bring me some water." The servant brought him water and he took three small sips, then he said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever throws a arrow in the way of Allah, whether he hits or misses, will have light on the Day of Resurrection.'" Then it was said, "May Allah destroy Al-Ghurub Al-Shams."  

رَأَيْتُ أَبَا عَمْرٍو الْأَنْصَارِيَّ وَكَانَ بَدْرِيًّا عَقَبِيًّا أُحُدِيًّا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ يَتَلَوَّى مِنَ الْعَطَشِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ لِغُلَامٍ لَهُ وَيْحَكَ تَرِّسْنِي فَتَرَّسَهُ الْغُلَامُ حَتَّى نَزَعَ بِسَهْمٍ نَزْعًا ضَعِيفًا حَتَّى رَمَى بِثَلَاثَةِ أَسْهُمٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ رَمَى بِسَهْمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَقَصَّرَ أَوْ بَلَّغَ كَانَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ نُورًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ» فَقِيلَ قُتِلَ غُرُوبَ الشَّمْسِ  

[Machine] The Prophet emerged on the day of Eid, with Ubayy ibn Ka'b on his right and Umar or Ibn Umar on his left. When he finished, he went towards the gate of Abu Kathir or Abu Kabir, where the blacksmiths were in its courtyard and the people were engaged in idle talk of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic period of ignorance). He asked them, "How are you selling?" They replied, "Like this and like that." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Sell however you wish, but do not mix the dead with the slaughtered animals in front of the people. O people, guard against monopolizing, arguing, hoarding, and spoiling the products. And do not let a seller sell something on behalf of another seller, and do not propose to a proposal made to another person until the permission is given. And a woman should not ask for divorce so that she may deprive (another) woman of her utensil by marrying her husband. And let her get married, as indeed her provision is upon Allah."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَرَجَ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ إِلَى الْعِيدِ وَعَنْ يَمِينِهِ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ عُمَرُ أَوْ قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مَرَّ عَلَى بَابِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ أَوْ أَبِي كَبِيرٍ وَاللَّحَّامُونَ بِفِنَائِهَا وَالنَّاسُ حَدِيثُو عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ «كَيْفَ تَبِيعُونَ؟» قَالُوا كَذَا وَكَذَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «بِيعُوا كَيْفَ شِئْتُمْ وَلَا تَخْلِطُوا مَيِّتَةً بِمَذْبُوحَةٍ عَلَى النَّاسِ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ احْفَظُوا لَا تَحْتَكِرُوا وَلَا تَنَاجَشُوا وَلَا تَلْقُوا السِّلَعَ وَلَا يَبِيعُ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ وَلَا يَبِيعُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى بَيْعِ أَخِيهِ وَلَا يَخْطُبُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يَأْذَنَ لَهُ وَلَا تَسْأَلُ الْمَرْأَةُ طَلَاقَ الْأُخْرَى لِتَكْتَفِئَ إِنَاءَهَا وَلْتَنْكِحْ فَإِنَّ رِزْقَهَا عَلَى اللهِ ﷻ»  

[Machine] The Prophet saw me and saw a red man. He said, "You are the father of the rose."  

رَآنِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَرَآنِي رَجُلٌ أَحْمَرُ فَقَالَ «أَنْتَ أَبُو الْوَرْدِ»  

[Machine] Abu Taybah passed by us in the month of Ramadan and we asked him, "Where did you come from?" He said, "I performed Hajj with the Prophet ﷺ ."  

مَرَّ بِنَا أَبُو طَيْبَةَ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فَقُلْنَا مِنْ أَيْنَ جِئْتَ؟ فَقَالَ «حَجَمْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to have lunch while traveling, and I was sitting close to him. He said, "Come for lunch." I said, "I am fasting." He said, "Indeed, Allah has made it permissible for travelers to shorten their prayers and fast."  

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَتَغَدَّى فِي السَّفَرِ وَأَنَا قَرِيبٌ مِنْهُ جَالِسٌ فَقَالَ «هَلُمَّ إِلَى الْغَدَاءِ» فَقُلْتُ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ قَالَ «إِنَّ اللهَ وَضَعَ عَنِ الْمُسَافِرِ نِصْفَ الصَّلَاةِ وَالصَّوْمِ»  

[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ said, "There will come upon you leaders who will control your provisions, they will speak to you with lies and they will do evil deeds and they will not be pleased with you until you beautify their ugly actions and believe their lies, so give them what they deserve until they cross the limits. Whoever is killed for that will be a martyr".  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «سَيَكُونُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَئِمَّةٌ يَمْلِكُونَ أَرْزَاقَكُمْ يُحَدِّثُونَكُمْ فَيَكْذِبُونَكُمْ وَيَعْمَلُونَ وَيُسِيئُونَ الْعَمَلَ لَا يَرْضَوْنَ مِنْكُمْ حَتَّى تُحَسِّنُوا قَبِيحَهُمْ وَتُصَدِّقُوا كَذِبَهُمْ فَأَعْطَوْهُمُ الْحَقَّ مَا رَضُوا بِهِ فَإِذَا تَجَاوَزُوا فَمَنْ قُتِلَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ»  

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ saw me performing ablution and said, "Wash the belly of the feet, O Abu Al-Haytham."  

رَآنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَتَوَضَّأُ فَقَالَ «بَطْنُ الْقَدَمِ يَا أَبَا الْهَيْثَمِ»  

[Machine] Abdul A'la entered and there were cuts on him. There was a man with him, tall and beaten by men as if he was not from this Ummah. When he sat down, he said, "I have pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I said with my right hand." The man said, "Yes, we gave the pledge of allegiance on the day of Al-Aqaba." He then said, "O people, indeed your blood and your wealth are sacred upon you like the sacredness of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this city of yours. Have I conveyed the message?" They said, "Yes." He said, "O Allah, bear witness." He then said, "Do not turn back as disbelievers after me, striking the necks of one another." He said, "And we used to count Ammar ibn Yasir among our best. When the day of Siffin came, he marched ahead of the first group, walking until he reached the Saffayn. Then a man stabbed him in his knee with a spear, causing him to stumble. The helmet fell off from him, and I saw that the head was that of Ammar's. Our leader said, 'Whose hand is it?' He said, 'I have not seen a man more clearly misguided than him who heard the words of the Prophet ﷺ and then killed Ammar.'"  

عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى أَدْخِلُوهُ فَدَخَلَ وَعَلَيْهِ مُقَطَّعَاتٌ لَهُ رَجُلٌ طُوَالٌ ضَرْبٌ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ كَأَنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ فَلَمَّا أَنْ قَعَدَ قَالَ بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ بِيَمِينِكَ قَالَ نَعَمْ خَطَبَنَا يَوْمَ الْعَقَبَةِ فَقَالَ «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَلَا إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ» قَالَ «لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ» قَالَ وَكُنَّا نَعُدُّ عَمَّارَ بْنَ يَاسِرٍ مِنْ خِيَارِنَا قَالَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ صِفِّينَ أَقْبَلَ يَمْشِي أَوَّلَ الْكَتِيبَةِ رَاجِلًا حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ مِنَ الصَّفَّيْنِ طَعَنَ رَجُلًا فِي رُكْبَتِهِ بِالرُّمْحِ فَعَثَرَ فَانْكَفَأَ الْمِغْفَرُ عَنْهُ فَضَرَبْتُهُ فَإِذَا هُوَ رَأْسُ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ يَقُولُ مَوْلَى لَنَا «أَيُّ يَدٍ كَفَتَاهُ؟» قَالَ فَلَمْ أَرَ رَجُلًا أَبْيَنَ ضَلَالَةً عِنْدِي مِنْهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَا سَمِعَ ثُمَّ قَتَلَ عَمَّارًا  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "After me, there will be severe trials. The best people in them are the Muslims of the desert who do not shed the blood of people nor take anything from their wealth."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «سَيَكُونُ بَعْدِي فِتَنٌ شَدَّادٌ خَيْرُ النَّاسِ فِيهَا مُسْلِمُوا أَهْلِ الْبَوَادِي الَّذِينَ لَا يَنِدُّونَ مِنْ دِمَاءِ النَّاسِ وَلَا أَمْوَالِهِمْ شَيْئًا»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , saying, "Whoever misses three consecutive Friday prayers due to negligence, Allah will seal his heart."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ تَرَكَ ثَلَاثَ جُمُعَاتٍ مُتَوَالِيَاتٍ تَهَاوُنًا بِهَا طَبَعَ اللهُ عَلَى قَلْبِهِ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever misses three consecutive Friday prayers without a valid excuse, Allah will seal his heart."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ تَرَكَ الْجُمُعَةَ ثَلَاثًا تَهَاوُنًا بِهَا طَبَعَ اللهُ عَلَى قَلْبِهِ»  

[Machine] Narrated Abu Al-Jaad Ad-Damri, who had companionship with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever misses the Friday prayer three times out of negligence, Allah will seal his heart."  

عَنْ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ الضَّمْرِيِّ وَكَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ تَرَكَ الْجُمُعَةَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ تَهَاوُنًا بِهَا طَبَعَ اللهُ عَلَى قَلْبِهِ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever neglects attending Jumu'ah (Friday) prayer three times out of laziness, Allah will seal his heart."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ تَرَكَ الْجُمُعَةَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ تَهَاوُنًا بِهَا طَبَعَ اللهُ عَلَى قَلْبِهِ»  

[Machine] On the authority of Abu Salamah, servant of the Messenger of Allah, who said that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "No slave, person, or Muslim says when he goes to bed and when he wakes up, 'I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion, and Muhammad as my prophet,' except that it becomes a right upon Allah to please him on the Day of Judgment."  

عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ خَادِمِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ أَوْ إِنْسَانٍ أَوْ مُسْلِمٍ يَقُولُ حِينَ يُمْسِي وَحِينَ يُصْبِحُ رَضِيتُ بِاللهِ رَبًّا وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دَيْنًا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيًّا إِلَّا كَانَ حَقًّا عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ يُرْضِيَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ  

[Machine] I had some camels that I used to ride. I came to the city and witnessed with the Prophet Muhammad, ﷺ , the battle of Khaybar or he said Hunayn. We used to carry water for him on our camels. I also had a business in the city. The Prophet, ﷺ , prayed for blessings and prayed for my parents.  

كَانَتْ لِي إِبِلٌ أَحْمِلُ عَلَيْهَا فَأَتَيْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ وَشَهِدْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ خَيْبَرَ أَوْ قَالَ حُنَيْنًا وَكُنَّا نَحْمِلُ لَهُ الْمَاءَ عَلَى إِبِلِنَا وَكَانَتْ لِي بِالْمَدِينَةِ تِجَارَةٌ فَدَعَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِالْبَرَكَةِ وَدَعَا لِوَالِدِي  

[Machine] I was part of the delegation that came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and we were forty men. He forbade us from pursuing hunting prey, such as: the wild donkey, and the hantam, and the nanyir, and the muzaffat. Then, he ordered us to slaughter the arak (a type of wild animal). We said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have grass with us that we can feed on." He raised his hands and said, "O Allah, forgive the people of Qais when they embraced Islam obediently and not unwillingly."  

كُنْتُ فِي الْوَفْدِ الَّذِينَ أَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَكُنَّا أَرْبَعِينَ رَجُلًا فَنَهَانَا عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالْحَنْتَمِ وَالنَّقِيرِ وَالْمُزَفَّتِ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ لَنَا بِأَرَاكٍ فَقَالَ «اسْتَاكُوا بِهَذَا» قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ عِنْدَنَا الْعُشْبَ وَنَحْنُ نَجْتَزِئُ بِهِ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِعَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ إِذْ أَسْلَمُوا طَائِعِينَ غَيْرَ كَارِهِينَ»  

[Machine] "I was among the delegation who came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the tribe of 'Abdul Qays. He provided us with weapons to protect ourselves with. We said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we have spears, but we accept your honor and gift.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Allah, forgive the tribe of 'Abdul Qays when they submitted willingly and not by force, while my people [referring to the Prophet's tribe] did not accept Islam except in humiliation and defeat.'"  

«كُنْتُ فِي الْوَفْدِ الَّذِينَ أَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ فَزَوَّدَنَا الْأَرَاكَ نَسْتَاكُ بِهِ» فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ «عِنْدَنَا الْجَرِيدُ وَلَكِنَّا نَقْبَلُ كَرَامَتَكَ وَعَطِيَّتَكَ» فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِعَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ إِذْ أَسْلَمُوا طَائِعِينَ غَيْرَ مُكْرَهِينَ إِذْ قَعَدَ قَوْمِي لَمْ يُسْلِمُوا إِلَّا خَزَايَا مَوْتُورِينَ»  

[Machine] "I used to pray the Asr prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then I would go to Al-Hulayfah and walk to it, and the sun did not set."  

«كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي صَلَاةَ الْعَصْرِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ آتِي ذَا الْحُلَيْفَةِ أَمْشِي فَآتِيهَا وَلَمْ تَغِبِ الشَّمْسُ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No disobedient, ungrateful, or habitual drinker of alcohol shall enter Paradise."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ عَاقٌّ وَلَا مَنَّانٌ وَلَا مُدْمِنُ خَمْرٍ»  

[Machine] I saw a girl walking in some of the streets of the city. She leaned against a wall, so I leaned towards her with my hand on her waist. When it was morning, I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people were giving him their pledge. I extended my hand and said, "Give me your pledge, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "You were the owner of the bracelet yesterday. Aren't you still the owner of the bracelet?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, give me your pledge." He said, "Then yes, it is good."  

رَأَيْتُ جَارِيَةً تَمْشِي فِي بَعْضِ طُرُقِ الْمَدِينَةِ تُوكَأُ فَأَهْوَيْتُ بِيَدِي إِلَى خَاصِرَتِهَا فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ الْغَدِ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَالنَّاسُ يُبَايِعُونَهُ فَبَسَطْتُ يَدِي قُلْتُ بَايِعْنِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «أَنْتَ صَاحِبُ الْجُبَيْذَةِ أَمْسِ أَمَا إِنَّكَ صَاحِبُ الْجُبَيْذَةِ أَمْسِ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بَايِعْنِي فَوَاللهِ لَا أَعُودُ أَبَدًا قَالَ «فَنِعْمَ إِذًا»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There will come leaders upon you; they will have control over you and will inform you of things that are untrue, and will act in a way that is harmful, not being pleased with you until you beautify their ugly actions and believe in their lies. So give them their rights that they are pleased with."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «سَيَكُونُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَئِمَّةٌ يَمْلِكُونَ رِقَابَكُمْ وَيُحَدِّثُونَكُمْ فَيَكْذِبُوا لَكُمْ وَيَعْمَلُونَ فَيُسِيئُونَ لَا يَرْضَوْنَ مِنْكُمْ حَتَّى تُحَسِّنُوا قَبِيحَهُمْ وَتُصَدِّقُوا كَذِبَهُمْ فَأَعْطُوهُمُ الْحَقَّ مَا رَضُوا بِهِ»  

[Machine] "On the authority of Abu Layla al-Ash'ari, companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , who said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Hold fast to the obedience of your leaders and do not oppose them, for their obedience is the obedience of Allah, and their disobedience is the disobedience of Allah. Indeed, Allah only sent me to call to His path with wisdom and good counsel. Whoever succeeds me in that, he is my successor, and whoever assumes authority among you without authority, then upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people. Rulers will come to you, and if you seek their help, they will not help you, and if you ask for your rights, they will not give you your rights, and if you are commanded to do good, they will deny it and you will differ amongst yourselves until they do not burden you with anything except that which you willingly accept or unwillingly bear. So the closest of the truth for you is that you do not take anything from them or attend to them in gatherings."  

عَنْ أَبِي لَيْلَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ صَاحِبِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «تَمَسَّكُوا بِطَاعَةِ أَئِمَّتِكُمْ وَلَا تُخَالِفُوهُمْ فَإِنَّ طَاعَتَهُمْ طَاعَةَ اللهِ وَإِنَّ مَعْصِيتَهُمْ مَعْصِيَةُ اللهِ وَإِنَّ اللهَ إِنَّمَا بَعَثَنِي أَدْعُو إِلَى سَبِيلِهِ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ فَمَنْ خَلَفَنِي فِي ذَاكَ فَهُوَ وَلِيِّي وَمَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْ أَمْرِكُمْ شَيْئًا فَعَمِلَ بِغَيْرِ ذَلِكَ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ وَسَيَلِيكُمْ أُمَرَاءُ إِنِ اسْتُرْحِمُوا لَمْ يَرْحَمُوا وَإِنْ سُئِلُوا الْحُقُوقَ لَمْ يُعْطُوا وَإِنْ أُمِرُوا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ أَنْكَرُوا وَسَتُجَافُونَهُمْ وَيَتَفَرَّقُ مَلَأُكُمْ حَتَّى لَا يَحْمُلُوكُمْ عَلَى شَيْءٍ إِلَّا احْتَمَلْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًا فَأَدْنَى الْحَقِّ لَكُمْ أَنْ لَا تَأْخُذُوا لَهُمْ عَطَاءً وَلَا تَحْضُرُوا لَهُمْ فِي الْمَلَأِ»  

“I asked the Prophet ﷺ: ‘O Messenger of Allah, is it tribalism if a man loves his people?’ He said: ‘No, rather tribalism is when a man helps his people to do wrong.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3949)  

سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَمِنَ الْعَصَبِيَّةِ أَنْ يُحِبَّ الرَّجُلُ قَوْمَهُ؟ قَالَ «لَا وَلَكِنْ مِنَ الْعَصَبِيَّةِ أَنْ يُعِينَ الرَّجُلُ قَوْمَهُ عَلَى الظُّلْمِ»  

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, both my children have passed away in Islam." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever has children who die in Islam, Allah will admit him to Jannah (Paradise) by His mercy."  

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَاتَ لِي وَلَدَانِ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَاتَ لَهُ وَلَدَانِ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ أَدْخَلَهُ اللهُ الْجَنَّةَ بِفَضْلِ رَحْمَتِهِ إِيَّاهُمَا»
