“I asked Jabir bin ‘Abdullah about hyenas: ‘Are they game (that can be hunted)?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ I said: ‘Can I eat them?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ I said: ‘Is this something that you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?’ He said: ‘Yes.’”
سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ نَعَمْ
The Above-mentioned tradition has also been narrated by Ibn Shihab through a different chain of narrators to the same effects.
يَسْمَعْ مِنْ عَتَّابٍ شَيْئًا
“I asked Jabir bin ‘Abdullah about hyenas: ‘Are they game (that can be hunted)?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ I said: ‘Can I eat them?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ I said: ‘Is this something that you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?’ He said: ‘Yes.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3236)
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ
[Machine] Did you hear that from the Prophet of Allah ﷺ ? He said, "Yes."
أَسَمِعْتَ ذَاكَ مِنْ نَبِيِّ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ
[Machine] I heard that from the Prophet of Allah ﷺ who said, "Yes."
