5. Book of Rites
[Machine] "My father accompanied the Prophet ﷺ in the year of Hudaybiyah, and his companions entered into Ihram (the state of ritual consecration for pilgrimage), but Abu Qatadah did not enter into Ihram. He then struck a wild donkey and ate its meat. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I struck a wild donkey and killed it.' He said to the people, 'Eat, for you are in a state of Ihram.'"

[Machine] "While we were walking and they were forbidden, and Abu Qatadah was permissible, I saw a donkey, so I rode a horse and hit it, so they ate its meat even though it was forbidden. I did not eat it, so they came to the Prophet and asked him. He said, 'Did you indicate killing? Or did you say hitting?' They said, 'No.' He said, 'Then eat.'"
the Prophet came, and when he was in Waddan, he saw an onager, but he gave it back to him and said: "'We are in Ihram, we cannot eat game.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2820)
“We were with Talhah bin ‘Ubaidullah ؓ and we were in ihram. We were given a bird as a gift whilst Talhah was sleeping. Some of us ate and some of us refrained and did not eat. When Talhah woke up, he approved of those who had eaten it and said: “We ate it with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 1383)
“Sa;b bin Jaththamah told us: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me when I was in Abwa’ or Waddan, and I gave him some meat of a wild donkey, but he gave it back to me, and when he saw from my face that I was upset, he said: ‘The only reason that we are giving it back is that we are in Ihram.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3090)
