“The Messenger of Allah 9saw) used to like sweets and honey.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3323)
[Machine] Ayoub and I, regarding the narration of Al-Qasim, I memorize from me regarding the narration of Abu Qilabah. He said, "We were with Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari, so he called for a table, and on it was chicken meat. He said, 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ eating from it.'"
“We were with Talhah bin ‘Ubaidullah ؓ and we were in ihram. We were given a bird as a gift whilst Talhah was sleeping. Some of us ate and some of us refrained and did not eat. When Talhah woke up, he approved of those who had eaten it and said: “We ate it with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 1383)
I heard Ibn Abi Awfa say when I asked him about (eating) locusts: I went on six or seven expeditions along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and we ate them (locusts) along with him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3812)

"A man asked the Prophet ﷺ: 'O Messenger of Allah, we travel by sea and we take a little water with us, but if we use it for Wudu', we will go thirsty. Can we perform Wudu', with sea-water?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Its water is a means of purification and its dead meat is permissible.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 59)
Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) sent us (on an expedition). We were three hundred riders and our chief (leader) was 'Ubaida b. al-Jarrah. We were on the look out for a caravan of the Quraish. So we stayed on the coast for half a month, and were so much afflicted by extreme hunger that we (were obliged) to eat leaves. That is why it was called the Detachment of the Leaves. The ocean cast out for us an animal which was called al-'Anbar (whale). We ate of that for half of the month and rubbed its fat on our (bodies) until our bodies became stout. Abu 'Ubaida caught hold of one of its ribs and fixed that up. He then cast a glance at the tallest man of the army and the highest of the camels. and then made him ride over that, and that-tnan passed beneath it (the rib), and many a man could sit in its eye-socket, and we extracted many pitchers of fat from the cavity of its eye. We had small bags containing dates with us (before finding the whale). 'Ubaida gave every person amongst us a handful of dates (and when the provision ran short), he then gave each one of us one date. And when that (stock) was exhausted, we felt its loss. (Using translation from Muslim 1935b)

39.2 [Machine] What is permissible to eat and what is not permissible
Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) sent us (on an expedition) and appointed Abu 'Ubaida our chief that we might intercept a caravan of the Quraish and provided us with a bag of dates. And he found for us nothing besides it. Abu Ubaida gave each of us one date (everyday). I (Abu Zubair, one of the narrators) said: What did you do with that? He said: We sucked that just as a baby sucks and then drank water over that, and it sufficed us for the day until night. We beat off leaves with the help of our staffs, then drenched them with water and ate them. We then went to the coast of the sea, and there rose before us on the coast of the sea something like a big mound. We came near that and we found that it was a beast, called al-'Anbar (spermaceti whale). Abu 'Ubaida said. It is dead. He then said: No (but it does not matter), we have been sent by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the path of Allah and you are hard pressed (on account of the scarcity of food), so you eat that. We three hundred in number stayed there for a month, until we grew bulky. He (Jabir) said: I saw how we extracted pitcher after pitcher full of fat from the cavity of its eye, and sliced from it compact piece of meat equal to a bull or like a bull. Abu 'Ubaida called forth thirteen men from us and he made them sit in the cavity of its eye, and he took hold of one of the ribs of its chest and made it stand and then saddled the biggest of the camels we had with us and it passed under it (the arched rib), and we provided ourselves with pieces of boiled meat (especially for use in our journey). When we came back to Medina, we went to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and made a mention of that to him, whereupon he said: That was a provision which Allah had brought forth for you. Is there any piece of meat (left) with you, so tnat you give to us that? He (Jabir) said: We sent to Messenger of Allah ﷺ tome of that (a piece of meat) and he ate it. (Using translation from Muslim 1935a)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a mission to the land of Juhaynah and assigned a man to lead them. When their supplies ran out, their leader ordered what remained of their provisions to be gathered. He then started to provide us with one date at a time to strengthen us every day. I asked, "O Abu Abdullah, did a single date suffice for you?" He replied, "By Allah, it did not. We lost it, and when we found it, one of us would place it between his teeth and cheek and suck on it, and we would also find some plant leaves and fruits to eat along with it. This continued until we reached the seashore, where Allah brought forth a whale that was cast by the sea. We ate from it and were satisfied. But when we wanted to depart, our leader ordered a portion of his own chest to be cut and tied to the ground. He then ordered a camel to be saddled, and we traveled underneath it."

"Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent an army towards the east coast and appointed Abu 'Ubaida bin Al-Jarrah as their chief, and the army consisted of three-hundred men including myself. We marched on till we reached a place where our food was about to finish. Abu- 'Ubaida ordered us to collect all the journey food and it was collected. My (our) journey food was dates. Abu 'Ubaida kept on giving us our daily ration in small amounts from it, till it was exhausted. The share of everyone of us used to be one date only." I said, "How could one date benefit you?" Jabir replied, "We came to know its value when even that too finished." Jabir added, "When we reached the sea-shore, we saw a huge fish which was like a small mountain. The army ate from it for eighteen days. Then Abu 'Ubaida ordered that two of its ribs be fixed and they were fixed in the ground. Then he ordered that a she-camel be ridden and it passed under the two ribs (forming an arch) without touching them." (Using translation from Bukhārī 2483)

I and Khalid b. Walid went to the apartment of Maimuna along with Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and there was presented to him a roasted lizard. Messenger of Allah ﷺ stretched his hand towards It, whereupon some of the women who had been in the house of Maimuna said: Inform Messenger of Allah ﷺ what he intends to eat. Messenger of Allah ﷺ lifted his hand. I said: Messenger of Allah, Is it forbidden? He said: No. It is not found in the land of my people, and I feel that I have no liking for it. Khalid said: I then chewed and ate it, while, Messenger of Allah ﷺ was looking (at me). (Using translation from Muslim 1945a)

It is the flesh of the lizard. Thereupon Messenger of Allah (way peace be upon him) said: Eat, for it is lawful, but it is not my diet. (Using translation from Muslim 1944a)
Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about the eating of (the flesh) of the lizard, whereupon he said: I am neither the eater of it nor its prohibitor. (Using translation from Muslim 1943a)

[Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and descended onto a land abundant with fog while we were thirsty. We drank from it and the pots boiled with it. The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What is this?" We replied, "It is fog that we drank from." He said, "Indeed, a nation from the children of Israel was transformed and I fear that this might be it." So he commanded us to vomit, and surely we did, and we were hungry.

[Machine] We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Khaibar, and a man from the people said, "O Amir, if you let us enjoy ourselves with your wealth, we will help you!" So he went down to them and mentioned Allah and recited a poem that I did not memorize. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Who is this driver?" They said, "Amir ibn Al-Aqwaa." He said, "May Allah have mercy on him." Then a man from the people said, "O Messenger of Allah, if you let us enjoy ourselves with him." So when they attacked the people, they fought them and Amir was injured. When they returned in the evening, they lit a large fire. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What is this fire? What is it lit for?" They said, "For the Arab horses." He said, "Pour out whatever is in it and break it." Then a man said, "O Messenger of Allah, shouldn't we pour out what is in it and wash it?" He said, "Leave it as it is."
