12. Chapter of Zay (Male)
“We were participating in a battle along with the Messenger of Allah, and there were some people from the Bedouins with us. So we all rushed toward some water and the Bedouins raced us to it. One of the Bedouins beat his companions to it and he (tried to obstruct) the pond, he placed rocks around it and he put a leather sheet over it until his companions came.” He said: “A man among the Ansar reached the Bedouin and he dropped the reigns of his camel to drink, but the Bedouin would not allow him. So he started removing the barriers around the water, but the Bedouin raised a stick beating the Ansari man on the head, and smashed it. He went to Abdullah bin Ubayy, the head of the hypocrite, to inform him – he was in fact one of his companions. So Abdullah bin Ubayy became enraged, the he said: ‘Do not spend anything on whoever is with Muhammad until they depart.’ Meaning the Bedouins. They were preparing food for the Messenger of Allah. So Abdullah said: ‘When they depart from Muhammad, then bring Muhammad some food, and let him and whoever is with him eat it.’ Then he said to his companions: ‘If we return to Al-Madinah, indeed the more honorable will expel therefrom the meaner.’” Zaid said: “And I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah, and I had heard Abdullah bin Ubayy, so I informed my uncle who went to tell the Messenger of Allah. He sent a message to him (Abdullah) but he took an oath and denied it.” He said: “So the Messenger of Allah accepted what he said and did not believe me. So my uncle came to me and said: ‘You only wanted the Messenger of Allah to hate you, and the Muslims to say that you lied.’” He said: “I suffered such worry as has not been suffered by anyone else.” He said: “(Later) while I was on the move with the Messenger of Allah on a journey, my mind was relieved of worry, since the Messenger of Allah came to me and rubbed my ear and smiled in my face. I would never be happier than with that as long as the world remained. Then Abu Bakr caught up to me, and said: ‘What did the Messenger of Allah say to you?’ I said: ‘He did not say anything to me, he only rubbed my ear and smiled in my face.’ He said: ‘Receive the good news!’ Then Umar caught up with me and I said the same to him as I had said to Abu Bakr. In the morning the Messenger of Allah recited Surat Al-Munafiqin.” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3313)

[Machine] The people went out to seek rain and among them was Zaid bin Arqam. So, I approached him and asked, "How many battles did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ participate in?" He replied, "Nineteen battles." I asked, "How many battles did you participate in with him?" He said, "Seventeen battles." He said, "He also prayed two rak'ahs with the people." Abu Al-Walid added in his narration, I asked, "What was the first battle the Messenger of Allah ﷺ participated in?" He said, "Dhu al-'Ashira or Dhu al-'Usayra."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ waged nineteen battles.
It has been narrated by Buraida who heard it from his father that he joined the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in sixteen military campaigns (Using translation from Muslim 1814b)
[Machine] I participated in seventeen battles with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and missed out on two.
[Machine] "I participated in seventeen battles with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." I asked, "How many battles did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ participate in?" He replied, "Nineteen battles."
[Machine] "I participated in seventeen battles alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he preceded me in two of them."
[Machine] "I participated in seventeen battles alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he preceded me in two of them."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Hajj after he migrated (to Medina) just once and he did not perform Hajj after it a farewell Hajj.
We went out with the Prophet ﷺ : on a journey and the people suffered from lack of provisions. So ʿAbdullah bin Ubai said to his companions, "Don't spend on those who are with Messenger of Allah ﷺ, that they may disperse and go away from him." He also said, "If we return to Medina, surely, the more honorable will expel therefrom the meaner. So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him of that. He sent for ʿAbdullah bin Ubai and asked him, but ʿAbdullah bin Ubai swore that he did not say so. The people said, "Zaid told a lie to 'Messenger of Allah ﷺ." What they said distressed me very much. Later Allah revealed the confirmation of my statement in his saying:-- '(When the hypocrites come to you.' (63.1) So the Prophet ﷺ called them that they might ask Allah to forgive them, but they turned their heads aside. (Concerning Allah's saying: 'Pieces of wood propped up,' Zaid said; They were the most handsome men.) (Using translation from Bukhārī 4903)
“I was with my uncle when I heard Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul saying to his companions: Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allah until they desert from him. If we return to Al-Madinah then the more honorable will expel the meaner among them. So I mentioned that to my uncle, then my uncle mentioned it to the Prophet. So the Prophet called for me to narrated it to him. Then the Messenger of Allah sent message to Abdullah bin Ubayy and his companions but they took an oath that they had not said it. So he did not believe me and he trusted what they said. I was struck with distress the likes of which I had not suffered before. So I just at in my house, and my uncle said to me: ‘You only wanted the Messenger of Allah to not believe you and hate you.’ Then Allah [Most High] revealed: ‘When the hypocrites come to you’ So the Messenger of Allah sent for me, and he recites it and said: ‘Indeed Allah has verified the truth of what you said.’” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3312)
[Machine] I heard Zaid ibn Arqam say, "My eyes were affected by something called a 'rammad' (an eye infection). So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me and said, 'O Zaid, if your eyes were to remain as such, what would you do?' I said, 'I would be patient and seek reward from Allah.' He said, 'O Zaid, if your eyes were to remain as such, and you were patient and sought reward, there would be no reward for you except Paradise.'"
[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, do I have any permission?" He said, "No." Ibn Umm Maktum said, "O Allah, I am blind, so give me permission." So Allah revealed the verse {Except those who are disabled}. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded it to be written."
[Machine] On the day of Hunayn, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I am the Prophet, there is no lying in me. I am the son of Abdul-Muttalib."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever tells a lie about me deliberately, let him take his place in Hell.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 584)
[Machine] We heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Verily, your blood and your wealth are sacred upon you, just as this day and this land of yours are sacred."
[Machine] Narrated by Al-Bara' and Zaid bin Arqam: We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Ghadir Khumm, and we were lifting the branches of the tree above his head. He said, "Indeed, charity is not permissible for me or for the people of my household. May Allah curse whoever claims to have rights other than his father's, and may Allah curse whoever supports those who are not his supporters. The child belongs to the bed's owner, and the stone is for the adulteress. It is not a bequest for the heirs."
[Machine] Ali invited the people who had heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever I am his guardian (mawla), Ali is his guardian (mawla)." So, around twelve men stood up and testified that they had heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever I am his guardian (mawla), Ali is his guardian (mawla)."
[Machine] Amr ibn Thammar and Zaid ibn Arqam reported that the Prophet ﷺ delivered a sermon on the day of Ghadeer Khumm, saying, "Whoever I am his leader, then Ali is his leader. O Allah, be a supporter of whoever supports him and an enemy of whoever opposes him. And give victory to whoever supports him, and help whoever helps him."
