12. Chapter of Zay (Male)
[Machine] "He came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned something. Al-Zubayr asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, may we announce it?' He said, 'No, O Zubayr, instead listen to Allah and His Messenger and obey.' Zubayr said, 'We hear and obey Allah and His Messenger.'"
[Machine] About Urwah, "In the naming of those from the Ansar who witnessed the Battle of Badr, Saad ibn Muadh ibn Nu'man ibn Imri al-Qais ibn Zaid ibn Abd Al-Ashhal."
[Machine] On the authority of Ibn Shihab, "Regarding the identification of those from the Ansar who participated in the Battle of Badr from the Prophet and then from the Banu Abd Al-Ashhal, Sa'd bin Mu'adh bin Nu'man bin Amir Al-Qays."
[Machine] About Muhammad ibn Ishaq,"Regarding the naming of those who witnessed Badr among the Ansar, then among the Banu Abdul Ashhal, Sa'd bin Mu'adh bin Nu'man bin Amr bin Quraysh bin Zaid bin Abdul Ashhal bin Jusham bin Harith bin Khazraj bin Amr bin Awf bin Malik bin Aws."
[Machine] I have never heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ anything without knowing that it is true. And I have never performed a prayer and then attributed it to anything other than it until I was worn out from it. And I have never followed a funeral and then attributed it to anything other than what it actually was, a saying and a statement for it.
[Machine] There are three qualities in me regarding what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said in a hadith: I believe in it, I know it to be true, and whenever someone who is deceased is mentioned, I imagine myself with what he said and what is said about him. And I do not perform a prayer and then busy myself with something else until I have completed my prayer.
[Machine] The Prophet sent Sa'd bin Muadh concerning the matter of Banu Qurayzah. Sa'd came riding on a donkey, with his legs nearly touching the ground. When the Prophet saw him, he said to his companions, "Rise for your master." The Prophet said to Sa'd, "Indeed, these people have accepted your judgment, so pass judgment on them." Sa'd said, "I pass judgment that their fighters be killed and their children be enslaved." The Prophet said, "You have passed judgment according to the judgment of Allah and the judgment of the king."
[Machine] We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ when Saad ibn Muadh came and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This is your leader."
[Machine] Sa'd ibn Mu'adh was injured in his eye during the Battle of the Trench. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ struck a piece of metal in the mosque so that Sa'd could return to it soon to receive treatment. Sa'd recovered until his words became difficult due to the severity of his injuries. He supplicated, "O Allah, You know that the people I loved the most were those who fought for the sake of Allah against a people who denied Your Prophet, expelled him, and fought against him. I believe that You have put an end to the war between us and them. O Allah, if You have kept any fighting between us and them, then keep me alive for their battle." One night, while he was speaking, his wound burst, and blood poured out until it reached his side. He called upon the people of the tent, "O people of the tent, what is this that comes to us from your side?" They looked and saw that Sa'd's wound had burst open and blood was gushing out. So, he died.
[Machine] On the day of the Battle of Quraizah and Nadir, Saad ibn Muadh was targeted and his eye was injured. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ attended to him and he became clean and tidy. Then it happened again, and Saad said, "O Allah, do not take my soul until You satisfy my eye regarding Quraizah and Nadir."
[Machine] "And the Messenger ﷺ settled with the tribe of Qurayzah until they asked him to appoint a judge between him and them. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Choose from my Companions whom you want, and we will listen to his words.' So they chose Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was pleased with their choice. He commanded them to bring their weapons, and they were placed in a house. He ordered them to shave their heads and to tie themselves up, so they were placed in the home of Usamah ibn Zayd. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for Sa'd ibn Mu'adh and he arrived riding on a donkey with an Arab man who claimed that his donkey's hooves were wounded from the roughness of the ground. Sa'd walked beside him, extolling the rights of the tribe of Qurayzah, reminding them of their oath, and how they were put to test on the Day of Bi'thah (Pledge of Allegiance). They chose you above others in hopes of your mercy and compassion towards them. So hasten to them, for they are assets to you and they are numerous.' This man repeated this many times, and Sa'd did not respond to him until they came closer. The man asked him, 'Will you not turn back and do something to me?' Sa'd replied, 'By Allah, I do not care for the blame of anyone for the sake of Allah.' So the man left and went back to his people in despair, informing them of what Sa'd told him. They thought that Sa'd had refused to speak to them, so they sent him with a message to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'O Sa'd, judge between us and them.' Sa'd said, 'I judge that their fighters should be killed, their women and children taken as captives, and their wealth seized.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Sa'd has given judgement with the judgement of Allah.' Some people claim that they were not content with the judgement of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent back the jurisdiction of the matter to Sa'd ibn Mu'adh. They sent messengers to Sa'd one after the other and their heads were struck off. The last one to be killed was Huwayy ibn Akhtab. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, 'May Allah disgrace you!' Huwayy replied, 'You have come to know me well, and I do not blame myself regarding you.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered for him to be taken out to the oil market and his head was struck off. All of this was done by the command of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, and it is claimed that Sa'd was acquitted from any guilt. He took refuge behind Allah's oath of innocence. Then he supplicated to Allah saying, 'O Allah, Lord of the skies and the earth, there is no people on the face of the earth whom I hate more than those who lied against Your Messenger and expelled him. I think that You have put an end to the fighting between us and them. If there is any fighting left between us, then let me fight them in You. And if You have put an end to the fighting between us and them, then cause this spot to be destroyed and let me die here.' So Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, caused the spot to be destroyed, and he died right there. The statement of Allah (in the Quran) was fulfilled, and Allah's mercy be upon him."

[Machine] Um Saad, while her coffin was being carried, was crying over it.
[Machine] When Saad bin Muadh died, Abu Bakr and Umar cried. Abu Bakr's crying was recognized by Umar crying, and Umar's crying was recognized by Abu Bakr crying. So I asked Aisha, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cry?" She said, "No, but he used to hold onto his beard."
